January 17th's Film-a-day was the 2008 movie "Hellboy II: The Golden Army."

Since the first movie was pretty awesome I had to watch the sequel. This too did not disappoint.

Once again Hellboy and his team stopping the destruction of humanity. I went for a simple prop of the in-tact Crown of Bethmora using glitter foam and sealed with mod podge.

Since day 13 of #fallforcostume is #blue and I've already posted the heck out of Dolores, I'm going with my #nuala cosplay! This was a big year for her also, since wearing her for the masquerade at #wondercon was my first time actually competing, and even though I just got an honorable mention from the con and a workmanship award from Costume-Con, it was still amazing for my first masquerade! Nuala was one of my first big, complex projects, since the outer dress is entirely silk and I sewed it all with French seams before dyeing it, and had to make the undershirt and skirt and belt to all cooperate with the weight of the dress. (and my wig never wants to behave. *screaming* The masquerade was long and crazy and everyone was amazing, AND I DID NOT EXPECT TO WIN BEST IN CLASS FOR TWO THINGS. More WonderCon pics! All of Saturday night still feels somewhat surreal, but I'm still amazed I got anything since it was my first masquerade! I also got another craftsmanship recognition from #costumecon , but that one won't feel real either until I actually have the certificate! One "quick" hour and a half makeup test later, and I think I remember how to do this! At this point I'm fairly good at gluing my eyebrows down, so they're finally barely visible under the greasepaint. Midnight makeup test! The scar gel needs practice and my eyebrows didn't want to glue down, but the rest looks good!
