...Given how dead those series are and how cool their concepts are, I'm still shocked no indie fighting game dev has tried to do a spiritual successor to Primal Rage or Bloody Roar.

Like, it's not like the concepts of "giant god-dinosaur fighting game" and "fighting game where they're all various kinds of were-furry" are copyrightable or anything...

Bloody Roar: Primal Fury

The last good thing to come out of the series before the dire ending that was Bloody Roar 4, Primal Fury isn’t quite a sequel, nor is it just a revision. Rather, it’s somewhere in between, featuring new characters (and new designs for the old cast), new stages, and new mechanics while using BR3 as a base. It’s often considered by series fans to be the best of the series, and there’s plenty of reason to see why. It’s not that it’s drastically different from what the series already established, but adds a layer of polish that helps edge this title out.

Bloody Roar: Primal Fury - Stun the Insect:

"Like I've mentioned before, my first experience with this series was thanks to a demo disc that I owned, and it had Bloody Roar 2 (if I bring back my demo gifsets back, I'll gladly share that one). I've already talked about Long, who was in the demo, so now we have Stun. He has one of the coolest designs and transformations in fighting games. Sure, he may have an awkward moveset, but he's a very interesting character and quite powerful too."
