Don't know about anyone else, but I'm laughing at the irony of Death being in a show about a purple-themed character...and Thanos is nowhere in sight!!!

I just don't like this plotline, period!
I get that John is in mourning and wants to be left alone, but blaming Sherlock for Mary's death!? Dude...Dude! She took a bullet for him! Not just because she was grateful to Sherlock for going above and beyond to keep her and her family safe, but because she knows how much you love your best friend and how devastated you were when you thought he was dead for two years!!! Hell, it would've made more sense if John had some PTSD related to this event and THAT'S why he doesn't want to see Sherlock, right now. But nope! Gotta go with the stupid soap opera cliché!
There's contrivances to make your melodrama work, and then there's...whatever the fuck this is!

Okay...So I watched the What If...? finale first thing this morning. I wanted so bad to believe the rumors weren't true, but they were. And this was (basically) my reaction;
youtube
In a way, I'm actually kinda glad I knew about the rumors, because I wasn't as surprised when it happened. I'm not even angry, angry, I'm just disappointed and pissed off, but in a tranquil way.
I think it also helps that I was out for most of today (I was helping a friend move to his new place), so I had time to reflect and let my thoughts simmer. And now that I have, I think I know what my problem with all of this is.
You see, I like the idea of the episode; I love Supreme's grief being so powerful that it consumed him and has taken the form of a literal demon, I love the idea of Supreme being in conflict with himself, and I love the implication he came to Peggy because he trusted her to stop him from doing something he'd regret down the line.
See, in my opinion, that's not a bad idea for an episode (in theory). No, the problem is the execution. If you want me to buy that Supreme has regressed due to guilt and loneliness, SHOW IT TO ME!!! Don't make me think he's asking a friend for help only to pull the rug out from under her! That's not good writing, that's just stupid and lazy!
And why is Supreme coming to Peggy of all people? Wouldn't it make more sense (as other people have pointed out) for him to face off against another Strange? But I digress.
So yeah, that's my major complaint of the episode, that they took the lazy way out with Supreme.
So with all of that said, is there anything I liked about the episode? Yeah, actually. And that something is Benedict Cumberbatch. I'll level with you people, I love Strange Supreme, and part of that is because of Ben's vocal performance. The way he plays Supreme is great; he's so petty and nihlistic and with zero fucks left to give...it's wonderful! I love it! I wouldn't be above watching the episode again for that alone. But if you ask me which Season of Supreme I'd prefer, I'll pick Season 1 every time.
Like I said, before; even if the rumors are true, at least we'll always have Season 1 tentacle boy.
Bottom line, Strange Supreme deserved a lot better, and Marvel really needs to stop doing Doctor Strange dirty in general.

Also, I don't hate Peggy, but I'm getting really tired of them trying to shove Captain Carter down our throats.
We get it, Marvel! You wanted Captain Carter to be the breakout character of this series, and that ended up being Strange Supreme! So maybe you should listen to your audience instead of pissing them off because, shock of all shocks, sometimes we actually make good points.

So, for end of the year, I'm gonna watch the two episode premiere for Percy Jackson (today), and the last two episodes of TOS tomorrow.
And boy, have I picked a doozy for the last two episodes; And The Children Shall Lead & Turnabout Intruder. Or as I like to call it, The Bill Shatner Double Feature! 😁
What can I say I'm digging into that Christmas ham early, this year!

Me Watching Catspaw:
So Spock doesn't know what trick or treating is, huh?
Kinda makes me want to see Bones take him out trick or treating with his grandkids (if he has any). You just know the second he sees the "ritual" of trick or treating, he'll respond by saying, "Fascinating.", as he'll want to do.

Me Watching "What Little Girls Are Made Of":
Dr. Korby: It's still me, Christine. Roger. I'm in here.
Oh no! That did work for Strange Supreme's Christine, and it sure as shit isn't gonna work for yours!

Also, I've seen the first two episode of the new Percy Jackson show and am enjoy that so far, too. I didn't have time to re-read The Lightning Thief prior to the premiere, but based on what I remember it feels like it's a pretty faithful adaptation, so far.
I also love the way they're foreshadowing elements from the books that will be important later (like Blackjack & that Greek Mythology cardgame Nico plays), and I love the way the themes of trust and friendship are being written and implemented throughout the show.
The only major nitpick I have is that Annabeth isn't blonde, which confuses me cause even the Sea of Monsters adaptation corrected that.
Well whatever, it's that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. It's just something that bugs me is all.

Also, does anyone else think it's really funny that, not only do they get kicked out every establishment whenever John starts beating the crap out of Sherlock, but that the establishments get less and less upscale with each cut?
Cause first they're in a fancy restaurant, then they're in a lunch shop, then they look like they're in a run down ice cream shop or restaurant. It's hilarious!

I don’t get the hatred Secret Invasion’s been receiving.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand some of the criticisms the show’s gotten. My bestie and I have talked at length about how he doesn’t like how much of a slowburn it is, which...yeah, I agree with that. It is a slowburn kind of show and if you’re not hooked? You’re gonna be bored or just skip it.
And that’s okay.
It’s the vitriolic hatred on places like Youtube and Twitter I don’t understand. Yeah, people weren’t super excited for this show, I get that. But why are people being so harsh on this series in particular? Especially when there’s plenty of other films and shows Marvel’s put out in the last year or so that are worth their vitriol.

Speaking of said ending...I think I'm starting to see why my friend doesn't like Xander. In fact, I'm starting to not like Xander!
Yeah, Willow was awful too and it takes two to tango, but she's so sweet it's kinda hard to hate her, even when she does screw up. Xander just can't seem to grow up; first he likes Buffy, then he likes Cordelia, but he still likes Buffy, then he starts going steady with Cordelia, then he starts making out with Willow...MAKE UP YOUR MIND, DUDE!!! Last I checked, he's not poly, so pick a girl and stick with her!
Bottom line; Cordy, you might be snobby and full of yourself, but you're a lot sweeter and more loyal than most rich bitch type characters on these shows. You deserve SOOOO much better!!!

Oh, and before anyone asks yes, so far I'm enjoying Season 2 of What If...?. Though I'm leaning a bit more to Episode 2 being my favorite (of the season) so far, even though I liked Episode 1 a lot.
I'm (admittedly) worried about the rumors surrounding the return of a certain tentacle boy, but I'm trying to stay optimistic. I mean, let's face it, I've been waiting for the return of Strange Supreme over two years now. So if it turns out to be a dud, at least I can take comfort in knowing I'll always have Season 1 tentacle boy.
Also, it's the holidays and I really don't want it to be (too much of) a bummer. I'm already mourning the loss of my puppy, I really don't need another reason to be depressed this Christmas.

Currently binging TOS on Netflix the last few months, and while Bones is still my favorite of the main cast (though Kirk is great, too), I really grew to like Janice Rand in the early episodes.
It's a shame they decided to eighty-six her from the show for stupid or, according to Grace Whitney, terrible reasons (behind the scenes). I know it was the sixties, so their representation of women wasn't always the best, but I always got the sense that Rand was a pretty no nonsense woman who was cool under fire, even in tense situations, and I love that.

I think I’ve decided that, with the exception of the blogs I follow and vise versa, I think I’m going to steer of any Marvel tags that aren’t Doctor Strange related.
Why? Because I’m so sick and tired of everyone being so negative about Marvel (and the MCU in particular) all the time.
Take Secret Invasion; I loved the first episode and went into the tags to see what other people were thinking...and apparently, with the exception of a few posts, all anyone was talking about was the AI opening and the cliffhanger involving Maria Hill. Nothing wrong with that, I’m holding out for them to pull a Winter Soldier with her later in the story, and I understand people being upset with Marvel using AI in the midst of how controversial it’s become. But there’s so much good stuff in that first episode (in my opinion) that I feel got lost in the shuffle of the controversy.
Look, people are going to have their criticisms and that’s fine. I have criticisms of Marvel, and I’ve shared some of them in the past. But it’s hard to feel like everything’s slowly getting better when (nearly) everyone online is saying no it’s not. I feel like I‘m on a sinking ship and I don’t want to feel like that, constantly. I just want to enjoy what I love and have my own opinion and that’s what I’m gonna do...or at least try to form now on.

Also, I think it's cute (in a hilarious sort of way) that the Guardians of The Globe are all voiced by Walking Dead cast members. Some of whom are still with the franchise, and some who have left.
