Prester overhears the toons talking about a mysterious cog locked away deep in the yott dungeon. In part-curiosity part-sheer boredom, he decides to pull some strings and get one of his lawbot lackeys to investigate this peculiar case. That’s how he learned of Winston’s whole deal, including their mind-control abilities,which he was very interested in exploiting for his own gain.

He offers to break her out of the dungeon, in exchange for loyalty to his cause. Winston obviously lept at the opportunity to finally be free. Prester would soon find out that he got more than he bargained for.He was basically the 1st in winston’s recent memory that was even remotely nice to him, which caused it to immediately imprint onto him like a baby duckling. She follows him around everywhere, no matter how hard Presty tries to shoo them away. He quickly learned that if you spend god knows how long in pretty much complete isolation with zero interaction with your fellow cog, you tend to get pretty handsy.

It’s a good thing that Prester doesn’t mind Byrd’s constant nuzzling and tugging as much as he expected. Prester would rather die then admit it, but deep down,he is also in desperate need to feel a personal connection, one that is genuine, and not built of quick convenience, or forced through fear.
