Timothy Kain Well I'm off to collect my winnings. 😂
James Bussard If he does abandon the pastorate (and the people of Morningside), did God suddenly change His mind about the man's "calling"? God doesn't do that. Not this way. Again…smacks of ambition and flesh.
Tobe Witmer Wrong Camille. As normal
Wesley Boudreau well it must be Gods will because nothing happens that isn't

Undrafted free agent signings 2017: Every team’s pickups in one place
Is the next Tony Romo waiting in this year’s crop of undrafted players?
The 2017 NFL Draft may be over, but that doesn’t mean teams are done adding important contributors for the upcoming season. Scores of NCAA athletes will start the next chapters of their football careers by signing as undrafted free agents.
The class of 2017 could also produce some memorable contributors. College standouts like Jarron Jones and Hardy Nickerson Jr. should all draw plenty of interest this spring. Though they’ll face long odds to make an NFL roster, the path they’ll walk is far from uncharted territory.
There’s a laundry list of players who have emerged from the embers of the draft to make a major impact in the NFL. All-Pros like Wes Welker, Priest Holmes, Kurt Warner, Antonio Gates, John Randle, James Harrison, Jessie Tuggle, and Tony Romo all took the long way to the league. They turned out to be unexpected boons who didn’t cost a cent in draft currency.
We’ll have a complete list of undrafted free agent signings as they come in.

50 Social Media Marketing Influencers to Follow in 2017 #SMMW17
The topic of Social Media Influence has really taken off since we first published this list.
Many changes have happened in the social media marketing world ranging from the surprisingly close competition between SnapChat and Instagram stories to the acquisition of LinkedIn by Microsoft to the explosive growth of “creators” and micro-influencers.
On top of all that is the growth of the influencer marketing industry from platforms to brandividuals that use social media to create, publish, promote and engage communities. Where is it all leading? Who is on the front lines and in the captain’s chair when it comes to making sense of social media marketing for brands big and small?
To help point our readers, attendees of SMMW17 and the industry in the right direction, I’ve put together a list of 50 relevant voices in the social media marketing world for you to consider. These voices range from business leaders to real-time video experts to bloggers, podcasters and YouTubers. Putting this list together was a combination of art (experience + subjective bias) and science (big ass data).
Allow me to explain the methodology:
Art: Criteria for consideration in this list is having been named as a speaker for the SMMW17 conference. Therefore, this is NOT a comprehensive industry list – but a ranked collection of SMMW17 speakers. Mike Stelzner and Phil Mershon of Social Media Examiner do an amazing job of hand picking speakers for this conference and the human element to any such list of influencers is essential.
Science: Ranking of the individuals in this list leverages data from our friends at the influencer relationship management platform, Traackr. I think it’s useful to point out that unlike the vast majority of lists like this that are published online, this list and Traackr consider many more data sources than just Twitter.
Monitoring data sources: For each person in the database, there is potential for citations and links from data sources that include: blogs, publications, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google+.
Ranking data sources and scoring: For the ranking, Traackr leverages a combination of data points including
Relevance – A score that indicates how influential a person is to a specific topic based on the keywords you provide. Signals for relevance include keyword mentions, keyword diversity, content production rate, freshness of content and other contextual measures. In this case, it was “social media marketing” as well as 10+ derivative phrases.
Resonance – A score of how impactful the influencer is with their audience. Resonance measures engagement activity that occurs as a result of publishing (mostly social) content.
Reach – A score derived by the reach algorithm that takes into account followers, fans, subscribers, visitors and other audience metrics. Remember, this is more than just Twitter.
Audience – Overall social audience size.
Each of these signal sources are factored into the creation of a ranking for identified individuals. With any kind of social influencer list building, the key is to focus on relevance and resonance then factor in reach. The result is a combination of broad based influencers as well as individuals with a very specific focus and very high resonance and relevance scores.
Below is the subsequent ranking for 50 of the industry experts speaking at Social Media Marketing World this week including their Twitter handles and their presentation title(s). I encourage you to check them out as well as their presentations in San Diego this week.

What’s interesting about this list is that it highlights a number of people who are known more broadly for their expertise as well as a number of new faces compared to last year’s list.
A few thoughts about building influencer lists.
What social influencer lists don’t account for is the cumulative effect of influence a person achieves over time and in the “real world”. Lists like this are a snapshot in time – they are temporal, just like any measure of influence is. No one has the same level of influence all the time. A list of influencers based only on social media data is useful for content and communications through those social channels. It’s not the same thing as saying “These people are universally influential about social media marketing for now and all time.” That’s just silly.
Feeling left out? A list is inclusive so sometimes the criteria scores across a spectrum of the social web cause some filtering, especially when up and coming influencers have extremely high resonance and relevance scores. For example, Mitch Joel, Chris Brogan, John Jantsch, Beverly Jackson, Konnie Brown, Justin Levy, Scott Monty, Brian Clark, Viveka von Rosen, Sue B Zimmerman, Andrea Vahl and Sandy Carter are all pretty influential to me personally and to many other people. But they are not on this particular social influencer list of 50 for the topic “Social Media Marketing”. That doesn’t mean they are not influential on this topic.
More considerations than you think. When building out an influencer list for a content marketing program, you have to consider relevance, resonance, reach and audience of the influencer specific to the industry as well as their channels and the prospect audience for the specific program. Also, you have to consider the current state of relationship with those influencers, if any. Romance for recruitment can take a long time – or it can be very expensive.
Additionally, you need to consider the likelihood that any prominent influencer on your list will even be interested in the project. Is your project and invitation going to be useful to them? Will it be inspiring? All of that is considered in the identification and qualification phases so that when it comes time to recruit, everybody is on the same page and moving ahead.
Topical and context disconnects are very bad for business in the influencer marketing game. Lists are just the first step to creating a mutually beneficial relationship, especially if it involves content and is maintained over time.
Lists based on data and strategy based on research. The whole influencer marketing topic has a lot of noise attracted to it and we recently partnered with Traackr and Altimeter to conduct research to answer some of the key questions about influencer marketing. We surveyed mid-market companies and many large enterprise organizations about trends, maturity of their work with influencers, budgets, areas of most impact, goals and even where influence impacts customer experience and digital transformation.
The research report was written by my pal Brian Solis and you can get a copy of it here.
At Social Media Marketing World, I’m going to be giving a presentation that includes many of the insights included in the report plus practical influencer engagement models, tactics and influencer marketing tools.
The presentation is called, Future of Influencer Marketing: Strategies and Trends which you can see on Friday March 24th at 10:15am – 11:00am in the same room as the keynotes: 28ABCDE.
I hope to see you there!

Sam Dawson introduced the BJU State of the University 2024.
He was unequivocal about having athletes and "pep rallies" for BJU's Chapel:
I want to take this opportunity as, on behalf of the board, to tell you that the Board fully supports Dr. Crockett. And with the team here on campus, we are assured, as he's moved into his six months of presidency, that he is the man to lead Bob Jones University forward that God would have him here. We are fully assured of him at this time. We especially commend him for his leadership this semester in making vibrant changes to Chapel, to leading through the financial challenges, and with the team that he has of students and faculty and staff, administration and many others who have with strong communication and resilience, led this campus through the damage caused by Hurricane Helene.
So. Was ousting Pettit worth it? Really?

And then in some weird moment, he talks about how he "pays more in taxes that [his fellow BJU faculty members] will earn in a year."
Shameless.

Josh Crockett begins, and honestly, it was pretty typical for State of the University talk.
There were a few weird moments. At first (3:54):
And then, of course, the Lord answered our prayers in that very worship service at the very end after the preaching and the singing, I said, "why don't we just break up into small groups and pray for many of our faculty and staff who are still without power? Some of them have trees on their homes, pray for the victims, especially in Asheville and Western North Carolina, pray that we'll get power back." And literally in that 5 minutes as we were praying, I got a text message that said, "Duke Power is bringing the campus back online." And so we were able to start school a week in some, some cases a week and a half earlier than many, many other schools in town. So we were so grateful for God's answer to prayer. And we got to rejoice that God answered prayer right in our midst. It kind of felt like the prayer meeting for Peter to get out of jail and Rhoda goes to the door and there's, there's the answer as we were praying.

BJU Class of 2010 graduate, Kenny Johnson, has a podcast called "The Invested Fathers," all about how fundamentalist men can get rich.
On August 30, 2024, Johnson interviewed Nathan Crockett himself.
It's a strange conversation. But right off the top, Nathan Crockett, a member of the BJU Bible faculty states that he loves teaching and he loves the students.
But also that teaching at BJU is great because the students are "a really nice feeder for our business."
That's what he said.
Is that what you want for your college student? To feather a very rich man's nest even more?

Lots of people have asked me about Josh Crockett's video last week which BJU Alumni bragged was "transparent."
Crockett said that enrollment was 2734.
"What does that mean?" people have asked. "How could that be?"
That's the Grand Total Enrollment, folks. Every part-timer, every full-timer, every grad student, every undergrad, every one who is taking one class to a full load.
And last year BJU reported to the State that the Grand Total Enrollment was 2893.
That's only a 5% drop from last year.
We shall see if that's what BJU reports to the State.

Trigger Warning: Suicide mentioned.
This moment was also chilling.
Please remember that BJU is not safe -- especially for anyone in distress.
There's a lot of proof that BJU does not treat those in mental distress in any safe way.
But nonetheless, this is what Josh Crockett talked about in his State of the University:
The summer, within two days, I talked to two dads who had sons who were suicidal. And the one dad who had been in ministry his whole life at a conservative sister institution, he said, "we found out one day that my son had already planned the parking garage that he was going to jump off of. He parked his car, he'd walked up to the wall. He was going to jump from. A friend, texted him providentially and invited him to go get sushi." He said, "one of our family members got home and found that each of us had a suicide note that our son had had written for each of our family members. And so we reached out to him. We were able to," he said, "I stayed up with him that entire night just Googling for help, and he said as I was Googling, I found an interview you had done with Shelly Hamilton at your church on this exact same thing. And he he said it, it resonated with me." He said, "yesterday when you were preaching at my church, my son, who's right now a student at a public university." After church he came up to me and, he said, "would they allow someone like me to come to BJU?" And I said, "of course we would!" This this is the kind of life saving work that we are doing here at BJU, our student life, our student counselors. The next day, another dad that I was speaking to said his son was at BJU and texted him. He was feeling suicidal. The father discovered his son had been sexually assaulted in the workplace, was questioning his sexuality. We are fighting for the lives of our students in a world of woke indoctrination.
"Woke Indoctrination" is Josh Crockett's boogey man. Fundamentalists always have to have one. And this is his.
And you can see in Crockett's mind, "woke indoctrination" is the culprit for this mental distress.
BJU is NOT safe.

And this is startling.
We all know the story of Bob Wood's arrival at BJU, yes? It wasn't exactly on the up-and-up, and Wood used the Gospel Fellowship Association to launder some the Brown Transport CEO's semi-precious jewels worth $320,756.
But here Josh Crockett waxes poetic about Bob Wood:
And I remember one of the first funerals that I did at Morningside was Dr. Bob Wood's funeral, and I remember Dr. Bob [Jones] getting up and saying, "People would sometimes ask me, is Dr. Bob Wood your yes-man. And he said, of course not. If I had a yes man, he would be redundant. He had a whole different set of skills that I needed." And so, I believe in many ways we need another Dr. Wood here at BJU. I've asked Nathan to fulfill that role.
Nathan Crockett, puppy mill "millionaire," is Josh Crockett's Bob Wood?

Josh Crockett explained that Matthew Weathers was the new interim Chief Enrollment Officer.
The last one, by the way, was Bobby Wood, Jr. That'll be an interesting point later on.
Weathers is the Director of International Student Relations too. And he, of course, also works for Crockett Doodles.
I mean, who doesn't work for Nathan Crockett at this point?
And Josh Crockett bragged on Matthew Weather's sermon from last March where he read a "Manifesto against Mediocrity." Weathers read the same thing for the Board this week too.
This "Manifesto" is essentially a statement of self-righteousness and retrograde gender roles. Here goes:
I have a hope for you today. A hope that you will rise above the downward pull of mediocrity. A hope that you will rebel against the cultural norm of pursuing comfort and strive to pursue Christ. A hope that your love for the Gospel will eclipse your love for the praise of men. A hope that you will have a broken heart for our broken world and have the courage to do something about it rather than look the other way. This is a manifesto against mediocrity. Men, I have a hope that each of you will develop a backbone instead of a wishbone, a hope that you will treat these ladies like sisters in Christ rather than objects to exploit, a hope that you will not become a lazy man sitting in a lazy boy with the remote in one hand and Doritos in the other, but that you will become strong, that you will train and become a tender warrior wielding the sword of truth against the encroaching darkness of the enemy. A hope that you are humbly preparing to lead yourself and your family in a way that shapes the world rather than being shaped by the world. A hope that as for you and your House, you will serve the Lord. This is a manifesto against mediocrity. Ladies, I have a hope that each of you will develop a heart of faith rather than a heart of fear. A hope that your words will be full of grace rather than fraught with gossip, a hope that you will meditate on what is valuable rather than what is in the vogue. A hope that you will treat these men like brothers in Christ and pray for them. A hope that you will care more about the battle lines of eternity than tan lines for the summer. A hope that you are diligently preparing to lead yourself and support your family in a way that demonstrates strength and dignity. This is the manifesto against mediocrity. I have a hope that you all will strive to progress in wisdom and make decisions rooted in the word. I hope that you will advance in stature and strengthen your body to serve others rather than indulge or idolize your body to serve yourself. A hope that you will advance in your love for God as you prioritize your relationship with him, a hope that you will grow in your relationships with others as you impact them for God's glory rather than manipulate them for selfish gain. A hope that you will pursue eulogy virtues more than resume virtues, a hope that you will have a growing desire to be confronted with uncomfortable truths that lead to life rather than being coddled with comfortable lies that lead to death. This is a manifesto against mediocrity. I have a hope that you will imitate Christ and your thoughts, words, and actions. I hope that today and over spring break and over all your days you will do the next right thing rather than the next easy thing, because Christ is better than the fleeting pleasures of sin. The hope that the things of Earth will go strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. A hope that the God of Hope will fill you with all joy and peace, and believing by the power of the Holy Spirit. You may abound in hope. I hope that you will join this manifesto against mediocrity and advance the cause of Christ with courage and conviction, because your identity is in Christ, our hope that one day on your final day because you rejected mediocrity and embraced the way, the truth and the life you will hear well done thou good and faithful servant. This is a manifesto against mediocrity.

Every time he mentions his acquisitions, Nathan Crockett is sure to add the talisman, "by God's grace."
It's odd.
