finicky bladder, increased hunger and nausea, prolonged fatigue... none of the symptoms got through to zoey until that baby bump popped up. she’s pregnant! and she could not be more happy about it. the situation is strange, but she’s always wanted to be a mother. with brielle at her side, they can make it work. all they have to get through is brielle’s lack of enthusiasm about the matter...

Asa: I won't be in town for much longer and I really need to talk to him.

Jules [sighing]: You can wait awhile, but I'm going to see the fireworks tonight with or without him. And you can't be here then.

Asa: I understand.

Jules: Well, I’m not gonna make you wait outside. Come on in. You hungry?

all they do is fight these days ... amira is tired of hearing the same old complaints, but she listens all the same - she did, after all, put jo in this situation. besides, who else is jo going to complain at? the happy couple with a new baby and a wedding to plan?

working side by side just like old times. from behind, you can’t even tell that jo is hugely pregnant and in a constant bad mood.

with the upcoming babies right around the corner, they finally have a roof over their heads. it is small, but it is theirs, and it is home.

“i need you to make a decision, amira. i can’t keep going like this.” “what’s so bad about it?” amira asks, her voice cracking. as if she wants to be doing this either, as if she wants to be on the only side that is actively advocating for the future of their child. “we barely talk any more. i don’t know how you’re feeling, what’s going through your head. i know we’ve had our ups and downs... we fight more often than not, but i can-” “i don’t want to be pregnant. it’s that simple. there’s nothing complicated, nothing too complex. i don’t want a baby. i have never wanted to have a baby. and... if i had the resources, i would not be pregnant right now.”

her point is made, and neither of them feel any better about it.

“and then she tells me that she doesn’t want anything to do with the baby. how is a baby going to grow up right if it doesn’t have a loving household?”

amira is having a tough time adjusting to even the idea of what jo is suggesting for their future - how is she supposed to live with it long term?

“a loving household doesn’t have to be two parents, ‘mira. you’re enough.”

jo is quick to let amira know exactly how she feels about the pregnancy, but otherwise simply goes back to bed. this gives amira time to think about it on her own. does she think that they’re ready for a child? of course not! they live in a tent! does she want a child with jo? not really. does she want a child? ...yes.
