Someone New, Someone Better
Aaron Bradford, son of one of the wealthiest business owners in Australia, was the quintessential party boy. He was known for his excessive spending, luxurious travels, and extravagant dinners at the most expensive restaurants. He also had a penchant for collecting women, never shy about flaunting his good looks and charm. As Aaron traveled the world, he could often be seen behind the wheel of the latest car models or riding on expensive Vespas. His unique style and taste for the finer things in life made him stand out wherever he went.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, his father, Robert Bradford, was growing tired of Aaron's antics and lack of motivation to work for the family business. In a fit of exasperation, he decided to take matters into his own hands. He summoned his new intern, David Caballero, and gave him a simple yet important task: find Aaron and report back on his whereabouts.
Tumblr media
David, eager to impress his new boss and hopefully move up the ranks, accepted the challenge with determination. He began his search for Aaron, tracking him down to a beach in Botany Bay. There, he found Aaron lounging on a beach towel, surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women. Aaron wore red shorts that accentuated his chiseled and muscular body, a sight that left David feeling both envious and a bit resentful.
Tumblr media
As he watched Aaron lazily laugh with his entourage, David couldn't help but wonder why someone with such a charmed life would waste it away partying all the time. It was then that he felt a tug on his shirt. Startled, he turned around to find a mysterious old man standing behind him. The man wore a fedora and sunglasses, giving him an air of secrecy and intrigue.
"You must be David," the old man said in a gravelly voice. "I've been expecting you." He held out his hand, revealing a small wooden amulet in the shape of a boomerang. "Take this. It will help you achieve everything you desire."
David hesitantly took the amulet, his curiosity getting the better of him. "What do you mean, everything I desire?" he asked, feeling a strange energy emanating from the amulet.
"Oh, I think you know what I mean," the old man replied with a knowing smile. "But if you insist, let's just say that it's within your grasp now. Go on, use it. See what happens."
Before David could say anything else, the old man disappeared into the crowd. He stood there for a moment, the amulet in his hand, feeling both excited and apprehensive. He knew he should report back to Robert Bradford, but something about the amulet made him curious.
David closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He imagined himself in Aaron's shoes, living the life he always wanted but never thought he could have. The thought was intoxicating, and before he knew it, he found himself reaching out to touch the amulet. As soon as his fingers made contact with the wood, the world around him shifted.
When he opened his eyes, he saw the same beach in Botany Bay, but now he was the one lying on the beach towel, surrounded by beautiful women. He felt a surge of energy course through his veins as he realized that he was now in Aaron's body. His muscles ached with pleasure, and he could feel the heat of the sun on his skin. But more than that, he could sense the power that came with being Aaron Bradford.
Tumblr media
David sat up, taking in the view of the ocean and the women surrounding him. He felt like he could do anything he wanted. He stood up, flexing his muscles, and threw his head back, letting out a roar of laughter. The women around him giggled and blushed, their eyes fixed on his chiseled chest and toned arms. He felt invincible.
He walked back to the beach house, a luxurious mansion that had been in the Bradford family for generations. The sand was warm and soft beneath his feet as he made his way inside. The house was filled with expensive art and antique furniture, a testament to the family's wealth and influence. He couldn't help but feel a sense of ownership as he walked through the halls, admiring the priceless works of art and the breathtaking views of the ocean from every room.
David made his way to Aaron's private quarters, his heart racing with anticipation. The bed was huge, with plush pillows and soft, satin sheets. On the nightstand was a crystal decanter filled with expensive scotch and a bowl of expensive, exotic cigars. He sat down on the edge of the bed, feeling a familiar ache growing in his groin. He reached down, undid his shorts, and freed his erection.
As he began to stroke himself, he couldn't help but feel a sense of power and control. It wasn't just about masturbating; it was about asserting his dominance over Aaron's body. He thought about all the things he could do now, all the women he could have, all the money and influence he could wield. The more he thought about it, the harder he got.
He imagined himself walking into a high-stakes business meeting, wearing one of Aaron's tailored suits, commanding the room with his presence. He could hear the respect and awe in everyone's voices as they addressed him as Mr. Aaron Bradford. He pictured himself making deals, forging alliances, and expanding the family's empire.
As he continued to stroke himself, he felt the familiar tightening in his balls and knew that he was about to cum. He groaned, his hips bucking as he shot thick ropes of semen across Aaron's abs. The hot liquid splattered against the defined muscles, leaving a sticky trail. He lay back on the bed, panting heavily, feeling a wave of relief wash over him. He looked down at his hand, still wrapped around his softening cock, and smiled. He couldn't believe he had just cum in Aaron's body. It was a feeling unlike anything he'd ever experienced before.
He stood up and walked over to the bathroom, opening the shower door. The warm water cascaded down his chest, washing away the remnants of his orgasm. He stepped into the shower, enjoying the feel of the water on his skin.
As he lathered up with Aaron's luxurious soap, he couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. He had successfully taken over Aaron's body, and now he was going to live the rest of the day as him. He grinned to himself, wondering what sort of mischief he could get into next.
After rinsing off, he reached for a towel and dried off. He then put on Aaron's favourite Grey joggers, feeling the soft fabric hug his legs. He admired himself in the mirror.
With a newfound confidence, he decided to take a selfie. He posed in front of the mirror, striking Aaron's signature smoldering look. He snapped the photo, and to his surprise, it actually looked pretty good. He couldn't believe he was able to pull off Aaron's charisma even like this.
Tumblr media
5 months later:
David left his old life behind him and fully embraced his new identity. He threw himself into his work at the company, making sure to keep Robert happy and impressed. He made important connections, closed lucrative deals, and expanded the family's empire. It was as though he had been born to do this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He found himself falling into the rhythm of Aaron's life, adapting to the luxurious lifestyle with ease. He began to understand the weight of responsibility that came with being the next in line of such a powerful family. He made sure to uphold Aaron's reputation, both in business and in the high society circles .
As time passed, David felt more and more at home in Aaron's body. He even began to think of himself as Aaron, as if he had always been this person. The memories of his old life seemed distant and hazy, like a dream from another lifetime. He had truly become someone new, someone better.

Danny, newly added to the cheer team (mostly) against his will, is attending his first lock in with the girls. It's a lot more fun than he expected.
--
4th fic for @phicphight, with this one going to @lavendarlily and @lonelygrayrose, with a special shout out to @hannahmanderr because she asked politely. Prompts used will be at the end!
Danny had accepted that he didn't get much control over his life. Ever since he'd died, he was getting pulled one way or another for ghost fights or school or family stuff. It really came to its worst point went he'd been more or less bullied into joining the cheer team. Sam and Tucker were not help; they thought it was hilarious.
It did mean that the already minuscule amount of free time he had was filled with practice, or games, or other team building exercises. Like right now; the annual lock in for the cheer team, hosted in Casper High one and only cafeteria. Really pulling out all the stops.
Danny had been dreading it since it was announced two weeks ago; knowing his luck, there would be some kind of ghost attack, and then he'd have to play the whole "Oh I've been here the whole time!" game. And if that didn't happen, he'd be stuck in the cafeteria with the cheer leader girls for twelve hours straight! Sure, they were nice enough, especially since he joined the team, but that didn't mean they were friends!
It had only taken an hour for Danny to change his opinion.
The parent chaperone very clearly did not care about what they got up to, provided no one broke a bone or stole something where she could see. This allowed them to roll all of the tables off the walls of the cafeteria and construct a complicated and completely unsafe obstacle course for them to run through.
The first two girls had already given it their best shot; the first one, Abigail, who Danny had never seen without bows in her hair, had made it pretty far for being the first one through, but her hair had gotten tangled in one of the wheels, and the official score keeper (who was, of course, Paulina) gave her a DNF. She was currently off to the side with Star, getting her tied back into a braid and watching the spectacle.
The second girl, Brittany, had finished, if her time was a bit sad. "I don't want a repeat of that!" she'd said while the rest of  them teased her about her terrible performance. "I just got these braids put in on Monday, and I am not spending another four hours to get them redone!"
They were going in alphabetical order, so that meant Danny was next up. He lifted his arms above his head to stretch while he analyzed the course.
They'd done a pretty good job, if he did say so himself. There were several tables that he would need to go under, several he'd need to jump, and one they'd set up to require jumping on the seats instead of on the table. A bit rudimentary, sure, but it worked for their purposes.
"So, Danny Fenton," Paulina said, holding her water bottle out towards him like a microphone. "As the only boy on the team, you have quite the reputation to try and uphold. Do you have a strategy going into this?"
Danny flashed her a grin he normally saved for when he was Phantom. "Course I do."
Paulina returned the smile, and leaned in closer. "And what would that be?"
"And spoil the surprise? Not a chance."
Paulina laughed, leaning back on her seat of backpacks, blankets, and pillows. "You're setting high expectations, Fenton. You ready?"
Danny nodded, settling into a running stance.
"Three, two, one, go!"
He started running to the cheers of his teammates. He hadn't lied; he did have a strategy, and it didn't involve any kind of ghost powers. He wouldn't need them.
Danny had spent the better part of two years dodging bullets, ray beams, fire, boomerangs, bazookas, and about a dozen other, faster, much more painful objects. Two years honing reaction speed, flexibility, and spatial awareness, all of which would help him decimate the past two times, and anyone else who wanted to race after him.
Okay, maybe the practice part did involve ghost powers, but he wouldn't be using any now.
He vaulted over the first table cleanly, chaining the momentum to roll underneath the next table in one fluid motion. He came to his feet already running, ready to vault over the next two tables. In what felt like a heartbeat, he was already at the end obstacle, where he'd have to hop back and forth on the seats without touching the table; if he touched it, that would mean an immediate disqualification.
It didn't prove to be any more difficult than any other obstacle had been, although it was significantly slower. Danny leapt off of the final seat straight into a backflip, landing perfectly on his feet.
That part wasn't required; he just felt like flexing a little.
His grand finish was met with the roaring applause of the eight girls; Abigail had even started whistling, much to Star's annoyance, as she was still trying to fix her hair.
"And that is two minutes and twenty seven seconds!" Paulina called from her makeshift chair.
"Damn!" Alysha said. "That is going to be a tough time to beat!"
"Thank you, thank you," Danny said, taking an exaggerated bow. "I'll be here all night."
Alysha shoved his shoulder even while she laughed.
Danny made his way back to the spot he'd claimed, a little bit to the side of Paulina's seat.
"I am so happy we recruited you," she said as he sat down.
"Yeah," Danny agreed. "I am too."
As surprising as it was, it was true. Maybe he'd originally gotten the spot because of his ghost fighting and powers, but it had quickly become the only (mostly) ghost free thing he had. He'd never gotten that kind of luxury at home, and while he loved Sam and Tucker to death, it was way to easy for their hangouts to become patrols or planning patrols. Or homework, but that didn't count.
There was the additional fact that being on the cheer team had made Danny's life easier at school; the teacher's were more lenient with schoolwork, he had a different group of people he could sit with if Sam and Tucker were out sick, or if they got absorbed in their infamous debates, and everyone was just so much nicer to him.
Even Dash had stopped with the bullying, and after a couple stilted conversations and an emotionally charged apology that was leagues beyond what he'd thought Dash capable of, Danny would be willing to call them friends.
Definitely just friends though. It didn't matter that Tucker had caught him staring at Dash several times during lunch or that he got all flustered whenever they ended up in the locker room together. That was a coincidence.
Just like Danny had expected, none of the girls came even close to his time. Star got a strong second place at three minutes flat, which was very impressive on its own, but his natural talent and years of practice held him high above the rest.
"You have to tell us how you did that," Aubrey said, jutting out her bottom lip. It was the same look she gave Coach Tetslaff every time she tried to extend practice.
Unfortunately for her, it worked just as well on Danny as it did on Coach. "Yeah, sure. Right after I tell you how I handle flying so well."
"Ugh." Aubrey flopped forward into a heap on the table. "You are. So mean."
The sound of a cellphone ringing cut off whatever Danny was going to say next. The team glanced back at the chaperone, who had settled in a corner of the room with a laptop, a thermos Danny swore was full of hard liquor, and headphones. They all sat in silence as she answered the phone.
"Hello? Uhuh. Yeah, I'll be right up. Everything should already be paid for, right? Good." She hung up the phone with a snap and stood from her spot. "Pizza's here. You kids sit tight, I'll be right back."
The group stayed quiet until her footsteps disappeared down the hallway outside of the door, before everyone shared a conspiratory look. Everyone but Danny, that is.
"Uh... what did I miss?" Danny asked.
Aubrey and Abigail stood up, one moving to the window of the door, the other to the chaperone's bag. The other girls all shared the same look again.
"Did nobody tell you?" Dakota asked.
Danny ran over the incredibly short list of things he'd been told about the lock in, which was basically just that it was a lock in, before shaking his head. "Tell me what?"
"Oh, Ms. Pachelli is a total drunk," Paulina said. "I'm sure you've noticed its not apple juice in her thermos?"
Danny nodded his head.
"Well, that's not enough to last her a whole night, even on a good day, and dealing with us is never a good day in her books." Paulina studied her fingernails while Abigail fished a bottle of whiskey out of her backpack. "So, every year we switch out her spare bottle for one of Abby's parents' old empty ones."
Sure enough, Abigail pulled out an identical bottle from Ms. Pachelli's bag.
"And... you don't get in trouble for that?"
The rest of team all giggled. "Please," Star said dismissively. "She barely cares about us to begin with, and if she tries to get us in trouble, she'd have to admit she has a problem."
"She's coming," Aubrey hissed from the door, and Abigail made a dash back to her backpack. By the time Ms. Pachelli was back in the room, three steaming pizza pies in hand, the whole team was doing a perfect imitation of teenagers who weren't up to anything.
"It'll be over here when you girls are hungry," she said, setting them down where food was normally served. "Uh. You girls and Danny." She amended when she turned around to see them all pointing at him, a habit they'd developed with Coach Tetslaff. Ms. Pachelli settled back down in her corner, taking one, long swig from her thermos, and putting her headphones back on.
The rest of the team
"She'll fall asleep soon," Dakota whispered to Danny. "That's when the real party starts."
Sure enough, it had barely passed 1 AM before Ms. Pachelli had dozed off and the team was left completely unsupervised. Brittany went to make sure she was sleep, and after fiddling with the headphones, she shot a thumbs up at the group. Abigail pulled the bottle back out to the cheers of the team.
"It's time for the real party to get started!" Dakota called.
"Don't we need to stay quiet?" Danny asked.
Star shook her head. "Nah, she's got some video playing in the background. I don't even think a ghost attack would be loud enough to wake her."
"I think its flat earth videos this time," Brittany added. "Definitely looked like it from what I saw, at least."
Danny rolled his eyes. "Why is she even here? If she sucks and also hates all of you-" he ignored whoever called out "She hates you too!" "-why does she volunteer to do it?"
"We ask for her by name," Abigail said, passing the now opened bottle to Paulina.
Paulina took a swig straight from the container before passing it on to Brittany. "That, and if she didn't volunteer for this, she'd have to actually do something at any of the other events the school hosts. She's part of the PTA."
"Ok, but that doesn't explain why she has to be on the PTA," Danny pointed out.
"Uh, duh, she's Derreck's mom. You can't have a kid in as many extracurriculars as he's in and not be on the PTA," Star said.
"I guess," Danny agreed. He still didn't really understand, but he also didn't want to spend the whole night asking about Ms. Pachelli's life. Besides, the bottle had reached him. He took a small sip from the bottle, and pulled a face at the unexpected burn.
The girls laughed.
"First time tasting alcohol?" Audrey teased, taking the bottle from his hands.
Danny rubbed the back of his neck. "It's not the first time. I just. Didn't expect it to taste like that."
The girls all shared a look before laughing harder.
"It is going to be a fun night," Paulina said, a mischievous smile on her face.
--
Danny wasn't sure what time it was anymore. He knew that a couple of the girls had conked out, with Aubrey being the first to fall about an hour ago. He knew that he wasn't getting any sleep tonight, and from the looks of it, neither was Dakota, who was blasting music from her phone and dancing on one of the tables. She'd been the one to hog most of the bottle.
Not that Danny was complaining; he was definitely not sober, although he couldn't say whether he was tipsy or drunk or somewhere in between or another word he wasn't privy to. Either way, he was drunk enough that he'd agreed to let Paulina and Star do his makeup, something he would never have agreed to without the help of the whiskey.
"Stop moving," Star said, holding him by the shoulders and looking into his eyes, as if she could psychically control him into not moving. Jokes on her, Danny knew how mind control worked, and it was only sometimes like that. "Or else we're gonna-" she hiccoughed, then continued as if nothing had happened, "-mess up your makeup."
"Yeah," Paulina said. "And you don't want to look like a mess for Dash, do you?"
Danny snapped his head towards her, nearly poking his own eye out with the makeup applicator she was using.
"Stooop!" Star said, turning his head back towards her.
Danny obeyed, but he turned his eyes to look at Paulina. "Why would I care about what Dash thinks?"
He could just barely make out her flat stare from the corner of his vision. "Because you like him?"
"I do not!" Danny protested.
Star giggled while Paulina talked over her. "Danny, we have eyes, you know. And we've seen yours wandering to him every time he's anywhere near you."
Danny opened his mouth to protest, but Star pushed it shut. "Nuh uh. Lipstick first." He tried again, but was met with the same result. "I will smear this all over your teeth do not test me Fenton." This time, Danny obeyed.
By the time he had finished, his initial protests had already died out. It wasn't like they were wrong; he just hadn't realized he'd been so obvious about it. "Fine. I might have a little crush."
"Well if by "little crush" you mean that you're head over heels in love with my best friend, then yeah, I know you have a little crush on him."
"Hey!" Star cried. "I thought I was your best friend?"
"Best boy friend," Paulina corrected. "But not boyfriend boyfriend. We tried dating, but he's not interested in me. Which, you know, I was insulted with originally, but he's just not into any girls, so the fact that he was into me enough to try dating is a win."
"So, he likes-"
"Boys, yeah."
"Which means you have a chance," Paulina added. "But only if you sit still and let us make you look pretty!"
Danny really didn't think he had been moving around all that much, but he made sure to sit even stiller now.
"You're gonna need to be the one who asks him out."
Star nodded. "He's worried about doing something wrong, cause he was so mean to you before." Star paused at Paulina's glare. "Oh. Was that a part I wasn't supposed to share?"
"Yes," Paulina said, annoyed. "But it's too late now."
"Wait, hold on, what?"
"Oh, he likes you too," Paulina said. "It's gotten kind of annoying, listening to him go on and on about how 'cool' you look doing flips and everything."
Danny felt his face heating up more. "I mean. I just. I don't really know how to ask someone out?"
"Oh trust me, I know," Paulina laughed. "Don't think I've forgotten all the shit you pulled during freshman year."
Danny's face burned even hotter.
"Polly, you're embarrassing him!" Star said, but she couldn't stop a giggle of her own. "We're supposed to be helping!"
"I know, I know, but I can't help it!" Paulina said, her laughter dying out.
"You two planned this?" Danny asked incredulously.
"I mean, we didn't not plan it?" Star replied.
"No, we planned it," Paulina corrected. "I think Abigail even put it on her itinerary, but she fell asleep, like a loser."
Star giggled again. "So we're taking over!"
"You've got to be more confident, flaco. You get all blushy and stutter, and give up halfway through, and while that's adorable, it's not going to work if you want results."
"We've seen you on the field, we know you can do it, so don't try to deny it," Star added.
"But that's an entirely different thing!"
"It's not that different," Paulina said.
Star ignored her. "Then just pretend you're on the field! Put on a good show for him, and I guarantee he'll be drooling all over you. Just like he is during the games."
"He is not drooling about me during the games."
"Oh, he so is," Star countered. "You remember the game you first debuted?"
Danny nodded; while he'd done fine, the actual game had been a bit of a shit show. Casper High had lost, fourteen to nothing.
"Dash only fumbled that because he was so distracted by you," Paulina said. "Tripped right over his own feet, cost us the first points of the game, and it was all down hill from there. If you can do that when you aren't even trying, imagine what you can do to him when you are."
"I think we're done here," Star said, withdrawing from Danny.
"I think we've outdone ourselves," Paulina said, angling his face to admire their work. She grabbed a small mirror from her pocket and passed it over to him. "What do you think?"
He looked surprisingly good, much better than he expected considering the fact he was a boy and that the people doing his makeup were at least a little drunk.
"It looks good," Danny agreed.
"No," Star protested. "You look good, and you need to take that vibe with you when you ask Dash out tomorrow."
"Who said anything about tomorrow?"
"We did," Paulina said. "Because tomorrow, we're going to be dragging him with us to the park and finding a convenient excuse to leave him there alone."
"You're gonna swoop in, and you're gonna ask him out and save him from having to deal with us all day."
"Trust us. It'll be perfect."
"I don't-"
"Shh." Star put her finger over Danny's lips. "We're doing this, whether you show up or not."
"Which means we need our rest, and you need your beauty sleep."
"So shoo while we clean up."
Danny didn't really know what else to do besides walk back to his pile of stuff and get comfortable.
He guessed he was going to the park sometime tomorrow. He hadn't been planning on it, but that was ok. He was used to that.
--
Prompts:
LonelyGrayRose - "Well if by "little crush" you mean that you're head over heels in love with our best friend, then yeah, I know you have a little crush on [him/her]" lavendarlily - Who knew Danny Fenton was so agile? Paulina makes it her personal mission to get him on the cheer squad.

Ultrakill fanmade Angel enemies
All of the spritework was commisioned by @eternalonysyn on Twitter. Meanwhile all of the writing is my own.
///COURAGE///
Tumblr media
Type: Lesser Angel
Data: The souls of human warrior’s, should they be allowed entry to heaven, are given the shape of red-tinted equines, their downward-pointing wings and halos being where their heads should be.
Surrounded by four chakrams in their torso area, these angels use their weapons as boomerangs, sending them out at targets to slice apart and explode, and then retrieving them to be reheated. They may also charge at enemies, their wings acting as heated blades capable of ripping through steel as if it were paper.
These angels act as the common infantry of heaven, being instrumental in putting down the Sisyphean insurrection. They may also be sent down should a particularly dangerous threat to the council's authority be found.
Strategy: Courage are skilled opponents who utilize speed and brawn to their advantage. Although unparryable with the Feedbacker when charging, they can be momentarily stunned via the Knuckleblaster.
Just as Virtues, they get enraged whenever an opponent exists for too long. Having their chakram’s spin around themselves, this is as much of a danger to them as their opponent, as they now attract nails and sawblades.
///FAITHFUL///
Tumblr media
Type: Lesser Angel
Data: These green, bird-like angels with upward-pointing wings are the souls of especially lawful and benevolent rulers, healers, and people of authority, given the sacred duty of supporting and leading other angels and allies in combat.
These angels, surrounded by rings of pearls, use them to heal the wounds of companions, with even scars and severed limbs being healed completely from their blessings.
These angels are given the most respect among the human-borne angels, for they are indiscriminate to whomever needs healing, and will brave even the most deadly of hazards to provide aid.
Strategy: As they heal every enemy closeby, it is imperative that you use methods that instantly rend opponents to prevent your efforts going to waste. A constant source of damage, such as the screwdriver, can also prevent the healing of an enemy.
However, killing too many allies in their presence may cause the Faithful to enrage, making every other enemy also enraged in the process. In most encounters, these angels should be given priority over all other opponents.
///PRINCIPALITY///
Tumblr media
Type: Greater Angel
Data: Due to the deeper layers of hell being home to far more dangerous demons and husks, Virtues alone would easily find themselves overwhelmed. This is where the Principalities step in, known for their signature light blue robes embroidered with gilded threads, and wielding a halberd and explosive incense which burst into lasting, turquoise flames.
Although more often than not guards of the deeper levels, Uriel has also assigned them to protect the libraries and observatories of Heaven, their lasting, surface-denying flames burning the flesh and metal of enemies yet leaving the paper and clay scriptures completely unharmed.
They are no slouch in melee either, for these angels have been known to utilize their halberds to impale, slice and bludgeon enemies alike, and if not outright slaughtering them then send them careening into a hard surface.
Strategy: Their incense burners act as powerful, incendiary bombs, creating lasting flames onto any surfaces that can damage you. One may find there to be no safe surfaces to stand in should the Principality remain or if you don’t parry them.
Should they get enraged, they will begin to teleport around the arena, forgoing their burners to instead smack you from behind. Utilize close-ranged weapons against them, especially the knuckleblaster.
///THRONE///
Tumblr media
Type: Supreme Angel
Data: Although most greater and supreme angels are human-like in shape, these angels, having been created before all others, are the exception to this rule, with six, eye-covered wheels surrounding one large eye at the center. Two pairs of gilded, glowing wings surround and blanket their abstract bodies.
These angels are some of the strongest in Heaven, and with a combination of heavenly light they can cast down, summoning of homing swords and explosive axes, as well as a powerful, focused laser blast that they can emit from their large central eye, they are exceeded in power only by the Archangels.
For all their power however, the Thrones intelligence is unimpressive, being slightly smarter than the average demon, and only due to them passing the mirror test. They are also completely loyal, following whatever orders they are given to an T even if it proves to be their undoing.
Strategy: Their heavenly beams, while similar to the ones used by their smaller Virtue cousins, are much larger, and can be fired vertically AND horizontally. Mobility is key to fighting these powerful opponents.
Although extremely durable and hard to kill, Thrones have proven much weaker to nails than most other angels, and focused fire can whittle down their otherwise impressive defenses.

Title: Out With It. Prompt: Confession. Who: c.assian b.arakzai (oc) & jo.hn c.onstantine (canon). Fandom: a mix of c.onstantine themed media. Notes: Cass venting to John even though she does not want to do that shit, but she's wearing a cursed necklace so she has to or she'll kill him or whatever. They both hate this, haha. But oh well, I had a thought so I rolled with it for a drabble. also got lazy writing accents and it's apparent.Words: a good amount.
John does not understand her at all, she thinks, as she drives them to their next destination - her hands gripping the wheel of her vintage Porsche so tight that her knuckles turn white. She wishes he understood her sometimes, but honestly, he doesn't.
It's been years of them running into each other on and off and he just doesn't get her as a person. She would usually not care about whether or not he understood her, but that dumb witch they vanished has gotten into her head and she hasn't stopped thinking about the fact that he doesn't know her, ever since the witch had her little ghost friend possess her and mess with her mind.
Something also snaps as to why she feels this way, causing her to bring her car to a screeching stop — nearly causing the car to crash into a pole, and nearly causing John to hit his head on the glove department after his body boomerangs and his seat belt stops it from happening.
"What the bloody fuck, Cass?" John states, staring at her in disbelief, after it happens and he gathers his heart from his ass - not actually, but you know, in theory.
"You need to get this necklace off of me, I think it's cursed," she replies all too quickly. "I think it's trying to manipulate me into killing you."
Her lips press together, and she looks at him right before she turns to press her head against the steering wheel to think.
John goes silent. Then, he stretches as she's against the steering wheel to take off the necklace. Yet, when he does, she hears him screeching out loud, "Bloody hell, it nipped me!"
Cass sits straight, thoughts of John betraying her over the years clouding her mind. "I don't think you have much time, John. I think if you don't take it off me, I might hurt you. I don't want to do that, but I've dealt with cursed items before and they make people do wild things," she expresses to him, hands still on the wheel, before she uses one hand to look at the front of the necklace.
It's a heart-shaped necklace. One with the words 'Express your grievances' in a language so old that she only knows it because she's read so many old curse books that it's only obvious to her due to that, and no other reason than that. Which has her frown even harder. But that means hope. Hope that she won't kill John in this car.
Oh, God.
She's thinking about killing John in this car.
Her hand goes up to grab him, but she stops mid-air.
"I'm going to have to have a therapy session with you, John - as much as I'm going to hate that," she says to him, matter-of-fact. "Because even if you leave, I'll hunt you down. With something this powerful, that's how it'll go." Her mind reels. In her mind, he runs out of the car, and she, well, she...
Cass winces at the image of her running him over, but John groans as he's safe in the car, vs. the version of him in her mind that's not.
"I guess…but if you up and hug me, and all that, I'd rather ye' kill me, Cass," he teases, smirking just a bit, making light of the situation before adding, "See, this is why I fuckin' hate long rides." Which causes her to snort, seeing as she'd just as that vision of him and her car.
Right before she goes on.
"I have to be honest with you in order for this thing to come off. So, here I am…bein' honest: I know yer' gonna betray me again at some point, it's what you always do, and it's always something big, and almost always something that comes close to getting me killed. And worse, I always forgive you. I'm not asking you not to, since I'm guessin' it's some defense mechanism, and I'd do the same in your shoes. I'm just sayin' I expect it and I don't have a taste fer' it, is all. And this stupid fuckin' necklace keeps making me see every betrayal you've made me live through, over and over, and it's makin' me a tiny bit homicidal, John." She feels a little lighter, after she speaks, and notices when she looks over, the necklace in John's hand.
She really must be angry. She only ever calls him John, and not Johnny, when she's angry with him.
He does not say anything about his betrayals or her anger and instead says, "You're not dead yet, but most of my friends are. That. On it's own. Is a feat. If you want to drop me off once we reach the next destination be my guest. But this is what ye' get, luv." He shugs. "This is what ye' get."
Which is as much as a therapy session as they'd both get. And had she not known him for so long and known already that most of his friends were dead, she'd doubt he'd tell her anything, so it wasn't like it were any new information. But hey, it was something.
"What I get, huh?" she repeats, turning on the engine to the car, "What I get is a headache. But I'm not dropping ye' off. You're stuck with me, like my own personal Hell — or rather, yours, if you want to see it that way." Cause really, she was sure by now, he wanted to get rid of her, she just wasn't letting him. "So, let's drive."
"Again, with the driving, eh?" He groans. And she smirks, right before grabbing his shoulder and squeezing tight.

PC Engine - Ninja Ryukenden (Ninja Gaiden)
Title: Ninja Ryukenden / 忍者龍剣伝
Developer/Publisher: Hudson-Era H.K. / Hudson Soft / TECMO
Release date: 24 January 1992
Catalogue No.: HC92052
Genre: Action
Format: HuCard
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First, we had Sega's Shinobi. When I was 9 years old, I spent many a quarter on the arcade version (and much of my allowance, to my mother's dismay (^O^). Why? Simple: ninjas are the video game world's greatest and most versatile heroes. So how do you 1-Up an awesome game like Shinobi?
I found out that Christmas in 2010 when I received Ninja Gaiden for my PC Engine, developed by a Hong Kong-based joint venture between Hudson Soft and Era Communications Inc. I popped that box open, grabbed the HuCard, and bashed it into my PC Engine CoreGrafx so quickly it nearly choked on it. I flick on the power and sit back. And THAT'S when it caught my eye... HOLY CRAP!! CUT-SCENES!! CUT SCENES ON MY 8-BIT CONSOLE!!
I was floored: I almost thought I was watching a movie; I had NEVER seen this high-quality look on my system! So I watch one ninja fall to the ground, and then I see the guy who would be the hero: Ryu Hayabusa...Ninja, Ladie's Man, Professional Ass Kicker.
I didn't even hit Run (PC Engine lingo for "Start") yet, and I was too impressed already! Anyway, Ninja Gaiden's got it all. Ryu's quite fleet-footed, quick on the draw with his sword, and slices and dices like no one's business. He listens to your every command (read: dead-on control). He does about 50 flips in the air during a jump. He's got cool Ninja Arts to aid him on his quest, including shuriken, Windmill Shuriken (they boomerang all over the screen!!), the Spinning Blade (jump and slash in a circle), and the Invincible Fire Wheel (TOASTY VILLAINS!!). And he'll need them, too...I'll explain why later.
Although I did explain the cut scenes already, I think I should go into a bit more detail and cover the in-game graphics, sound, and music while I'm at it. The cutscenes in this game, for 1988 on the Famicom, were amazing. For 1992 on the PC Engine, it looked even more so.
They conveyed the story in such a way that it almost seems like an anime OVA (incidentally, there was a Ninja Gaiden OVA in Japan, but it was poorly written and animated, and Ryu was only a bit character in it. BLASPHEMY!!), and you get such a feel for the characters that you would think that they were alive and for real. The story is nothing short of excellent, and the game plays it out perfectly, breaking the action up into six acts of 2 to 5 stages each, for a grand total of 21 stages. The difficulty level in the game slowly progresses from very easy to hardcore gamer tough, but it progresses steadily from stage to stage. The bosses fall in the same category as well, with a very easy first boss to a hair-yanking hard final boss. More on the difficulty later.
The graphics in this game are pretty good, albeit a little grainy. Everyone is of a decent size but oddly drawn, but the animation in this game is just stunning; it's so fluid that you wouldn't think at first that this is still just an 8-bit console competing in the 16-bit console wars. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, has at least 3 to 4 frames of animation; even little details like Ryu throwing a weapon look awesome in motion! The sounds are pretty good for a PC Engine HuCard although a few sounds are a little odd like the "FWP-SPLSH!" sound enemies make when they're killed (sounds like an explosion splashing into water!), and Ryu somehow makes this blasting sound when he gets hit. Is he laden with nitro or something? ^_^
But never mind that, the big draw in the sound department? The MUSIC!! Mark my words: MUSIC MAKES OR BREAKS THE GAME!! In this case, it doesn't just MAKE the game, it's the BLOOD WORK!! The music in this game is just TOO FUCKING GOOD!! The composer made some excellent use of the PC Engine's sound processors, which is just a miracle, honestly. It's so awesome that I used to use the Sound Test code, then tape all the tunes off the TV with a portable tape recorder held to the speaker, just to listen to it later. It's THAT GOOD!! Every single tune, even to this day, rings in my head for all eternity, and out of every track, my personal favorite, the track from Stage 4-2 (Bazlisk Mine Field) just RULES! Thanks to emulation (and the Internet!), I now have the entire soundtrack in MP3 format, and I still can't get over how amazing the music is!

Dynasty Warriors Weapon Moveset Power Rankings Tier List
Tumblr media
With all the weapon movesets analysed and ranked, here is a summary tier list I've made of all the rankings. You can make your own weapon tier list on Tiermaker out of all movesets from 3 to 9.
Weapons with orange background show the characters who maintained their EX weapon from 7 to 8 while weapons with a golden background show the characters who had their weapons changed in or before 8 along with new characters in that game. The Circle of Karma & How Your Actions Shape Your Destiny
The concept of karma holds that all of our deeds, good and evil, have effects that eventually come back to haunt us. The energy you release into the world eventually comes back around to you, much to a universal boomerang.
Tumblr media
The Circle of Karma is a consistent principle amidst the unfathomable workings of the universe. It's not only about sudden good fortune or bad; our reality is shaped by the energy we project out into the world. The good news is that we can affect this cycle by our intentions and actions.
Manifestation Methods for Shaping Your Destiny
Manifestation Journal: Write down your desires with clarity and purpose. This act of creation sets the wheels of the circle in motion. Manifesting is all about believing or having faith that you will achieve your goals and being positive in your mind.
Daily Meditation: Quieting your mind allows you to connect with your inner compass, guiding you towards actions aligned with your goals. It helps a lot to remain calm, especially for overthinkers or those suffering from anxiety or other mental issues.
Gratitude Journal: Appreciating what you already have strengthens the positive energy flowing through the circle, attracting more good into your life. When we observe and pen down all those things that we have right now, from a healthy body to food for survival to materialistic assets like a dream car or house, it creates a feeling of gratitude towards God, makes people strong during tough times, and generates faith in the universe and God automatically.
Beyond Luck: Embracing Action
Embracing Action: Moving Past Luck Karma is active. It has to do with the constructive force of belief paired with initiative. Though thankfulness and vision are powerful tools, they require action as fuel. If you work hard to achieve your goals, the Circle will support you in your efforts. To make dreams come true, one needs to perform actions, such as being positive and having trust in God. The universe can't do anything if one is sitting hand in hand, waiting for his good timing to make things in his favor.
Positivity is the Key
The Circle is nourished by good vibes. Select helpfulness, kindness, and compassion. Be resilient and graceful in the face of adversity. Recall that negativity comes back like a boomerang. You take an active role in molding your future by intentionally feeding the Circle of Karma with good intentions, deeds, and gratitude. Make your energy a positive force for both the planet and yourself, as the universe returns the favor.
In fact, having a negative outlook during challenging times might make things twice as bad. Negative thoughts usually make a person more miserable, which inevitably makes them more conceited and makes things harder or more difficult to handle. This is especially true for those who are more sensitive and overthinkers.
If you found this post to be useful and want to know more about The Learn Lifestyle as we can act as an advisor by promoting the positive parts of life in the daily chaos. You can send us an email on [email protected] or follow us on Facebook.

The New Nissan Qashqai SUV Is INCREDIBLE!
Through its first two generations, the Nissan Qashqai for sale was a relatively affordable but somewhat conservative player in the compact-to-medium SUV space, but the third-generation model that was launched in South Africa recently is a whole new ball game.
Most vehicles in this segment have moved upmarket and the new Nissan Qashqai is no exception, with its starting price of R568 200 for the manual transmission base model (who still buys a manual in this segment?) while the top-of-the-pile Acenta Plus that we had on test recently commands R670 000 (in December 2022). All are powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine.
Sure, that seems a bit steep for a Nissan Qashqai, but there are two things to keep in mind here. For starters, rivals with similar specs such as the Toyota Rav4, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson are all priced in the R650 000 – R700 000 ballpark. Second, the redesigned Nissan is quite a bit more sophisticated than its predecessor.
Built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s new CMF-C architecture, the new Qashqai is 48mm longer and 29mm wider than the previous version, but despite this, it has only gained 37kg in weight, while torsional stiffness is significantly improved.
But the real drawcard for consumers will probably be its striking new exterior design, with its crisp, chiselled lines, 19-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels, boomerang headlights and large V-Motion grille.
What is it like to drive?
The new Nissan’s beauty is more than skin deep and on the road, the SUV is impressively quiet and refined. It has a sophisticated feel to it and although the suspension is a little on the firm side, which you’ll feel over larger speed bumps, the ride quality is still more than acceptably comfortable.
Being engineered for European roads, it handles well for an SUV and the steering feels communicative and well weighted.
Power comes from a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 110kW and 250Nm, fed to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox. If you opt for the manual base model, outputs are restricted to 96kW and 240Nm.
The 110kW automatic model that we spent time with delivered adequate performance. There’s enough low-down torque to avoid the excessive revving that results in that annoying CVT drone, most of the time at least.
As for fuel consumption, we achieved 6.6 litres per 100km at highway speeds, while in-town driving saw the readout climb to 10.7 litres per 100km, and that’s after some careful driving. Show some right pedal enthusiasm and it can easily swing towards the 13 litres/100km mark.
What’s it like inside?
That refined and sophisticated feel that I referred to earlier? That’s very much apparent in the cabin design of the new Qashqai, with its tastefully executed lines and high-quality materials. The command centre is a new 12.3-inch (31cm) touchscreen infotainment system, which impressed us with its crisp, modern graphics. The system was also fairly easy to operate, with main menu items placed along the right side of the screen. The new dashboard also has separate ventilation controls below the screen which are user-friendly.
Sadly the digital instrument cluster that is available overseas isn’t fitted to the South African models, which ship with conventional analogue dials.
Equipment is generous in the range-topping Acenta Pus model, which comes with a 10-speaker Bose sound system and diamond-quilted leather seats with electric adjustment as well as heating and massaging for the front occupants. As with the mid-range Acenta model, it also comes with automatic climate control and Nissan’s Pro Pilot driver assist package, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. Click here for a full-grade walk.
Is the Nissan Qashqai practical?
Rear legroom is decent enough, as there is a little bit of stretching space for normal-sized occupants, but it’s not as spacious as some rivals. Rear headroom should be sufficient for most passengers, but taller folk might struggle.
The boot has a volume of 504 litres with the seats in place and 1 593 litres with them folded. The loading compartment is a bit on the shallow side, but the area is quite vast.
Verdict
While it has become somewhat more expensive, the Nissan Qashqai has made a decent stride upmarket with a package that is somewhat more refined and better equipped than its predecessor. Its striking design and smart cabin are also likely to win fans.
The Qashqai has an impressive warranty, valid for six years or 150 000km, but the three-year/90 000km service plan is unfair on those who don’t do high mileage.
FACTS: Nissan Qashqai 1.3T Acenta Plus

Gearbox: CVT

Kia Sportage Reviewed By Experts
Tumblr media
It’s easy to get lost in the crowded world of family SUVs but the Kia Sportage for sale looks equipped to stand out at the front of the pack.
The Sportage has dramatic styling in line with the firm’s flagship electric car – the What Car? Award-winning Kia EV6 – and there's plenty of substance behind those boomerang-shaped headlights.
Let's start with the engines. They're all petrols, and some come with hybrid assistance to improve efficiency and reduce emissions. The entry-level choice is available with a manual or automatic gearbox, and if you go for the auto, you get mild-hybrid (MHEV) technology.
If you're looking to maximise traction, you can opt for four-wheel drive on top-spec models. There are plenty of trim levels to choose from, with even the entry-level version (called the Sportage 2) coming with all the essential kit you’d need.
Kia has also given the Sportage a competitive starting price. The cheapest model undercuts the Tucson as well as the Honda ZR-V, the Mazda CX-5, the Peugeot 3008 and the Renault Austral putting it in close competition with the Nissan Qashqai, the Seat Ateca and the Skoda Karoq – all of which are seriously compelling family SUVs.
In this review, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to help you decide whether the Kia Sportage deserves a place on your shortlist. We'll rate it for performance and handling, practicality, running costs and more.
Performance & drive
What it’s like to drive, and how quiet it is
Engine, 0-60mph and gearbox
Our favourite engine for the Kia Sportage is the entry-level one, the 148bhp 1.6-litre T-GDi. You can have a six-speed manual gearbox, but if you want MHEV technology, you need to opt for the seven-speed automatic gearbox, which is slightly hesitant but introduces the option of four-wheel drive (AWD). With the manual gearbox, we managed a 0-60mph time of 8.5 seconds, comfortably beating the 9.9sec official figure.
Further up the range is the HEV, with the 1.6-litre petrol engine tied to an electric motor for a combined 226bhp to the front wheels (four-wheel drive is available if you opt for top-spec GT-Line S). Aside from the hesitant auto gearbox, performance is pleasingly punchy – at our private test track, we recorded a 0-60mph time of just 7.2 seconds, which is quicker than the Ford Kuga hybrid and the Honda ZR-V.
The PHEV offers even more power – 261bhp – but its pace isn't that different to the HEV's in everyday driving. You’ll keep up with town and city traffic at an adequate rate in full electric mode, and even when you switch to Hybrid mode, the petrol motor only kicks in at the very last second if you pin the accelerator pedal to the floor. For maximum performance, you’ll need to twist the drive mode dial out of Eco and into Sport to combine the petrol engine and electric motor’s output. The PHEV has AWD as standard.
Suspension and ride comfort
The Sportage does a better job of rounding off potholes and ridges than the closely related Hyundai Tucson and exhibits fractionally better body control than the Skoda Karoq.
It's not quite as comfy as the Volvo XC40 though, and that's most noticeable on GT-Line models, which have big 19-inch alloy wheels fitted, and the heavier PHEV. The best-riding version is the cheapest model: entry-level 2 trim comes with smaller 17-inch wheels and big balloon-like tyres.
The Sportage is a great motorway companion, riding over undulations very well and feeling settled at speed, as is the well-controlled Honda ZR-V.
Handling
The Sportage has never been a contender for the best-driving family SUV but the current model’s cornering abilities are more than good enough. There's quite a bit of lean in the corners, but the grip is plentiful and the precise steering helps you place the car exactly where you want it.
We reckon the Sportage’s balance of composure and comfort will be a well-judged compromise for most. If you want something a little more rewarding to drive, we’d recommend taking a look at the Kuga or the Seat Ateca.
Depending on which spec you go for, the Sportage has up to four driving settings: Eco, Normal, Sport and Terrain. Eco is the most relaxed choice for everyday driving, with the lightest steering weight and a softer accelerator response to maximise fuel economy. The heavier steering weight in Sport mode helps you place the Sportage more accurately on the road.
Noise and vibration
The quietest Sportage in the line-up is the PHEV. Its ability to run on electricity alone makes it hushed on shorter commutes. The HEV isn’t as impressive, but can still whisper along over short distances in town and in stop-start traffic. The MHEV isn't as capable because it can’t run on electricity alone, but its stop-start system is smooth and it can cut its engine when you’re coasting. The manual gearbox has a bit of a notchy shift action, but the throw is light and accurate.
In the PHEV, while Sport mode combines the petrol engine and electric motor’s output for maximum performance, it wouldn’t be our default option for every journey because the sudden power delivery can be a little too blunt.
There’s a fraction more wind noise on a motorway than you get in the Tucson and XC40, but it’s still relatively hushed and there’s a lot less road noise than you get in the ZR-V. You’re not punished with a harsh-sounding engine note when you’re pressing on, either. The brakes on hybrid Sportages can be a little grabby due to the regenerative braking system, which feeds energy back to the battery as you slow down but makes the brake pedal slightly less progressive. That said, we’ve driven hybrids with more abrupt brakes.
Driving overview
Good ride comfort; composed handling; pretty hushed, even at speed
Interior
The interior layout, fit and finish
Driving position and dashboard
The Kia Sportage's interior looks smart and uncluttered, with controls that are grouped together and easy to find. You don't get full digital dials on entry-level 2 or GT-Line models, but the 4.2-inch cluster is perfectly adequate, clearly displaying info such as range, economy and driving assistance features.
Models in mid-spec 3 trim and above come with a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a variety of layouts to choose from. The animated graphics are smooth and clear with a high level of contrast. The screen itself sits in line with the central infotainment display, resulting in a long, curved housing that stretches halfway across the dashboard.
It’s very easy to find a comfortable driving position in the Sportage, and there's enough adjustment to cater for most people. There’s also plenty of steering-wheel adjustment, and lumbar support for the driver is offered on all but the entry-level model, with electric adjustment as standard on 3 models and above. The firm bolstering is supportive for longer journeys, and GT-Line models have suede that helps grip you in place when cornering.
Visibility, parking sensors and cameras
You get decent levels of forward visibility from the Sportage driving seat. The large side mirrors help with rear vision, but the slightly narrow rear screen with thick rear pillars can make it harder to judge the car's rear corners in a tight spot.
Thankfully, all versions come with a rear-view camera plus front and rear parking sensors as standard. Top-spec GT-Line S models add a 360-degree camera, while hybrids also include a self-parking system. All models get automatic LED headlamps and auto wipers to help improve visibility in poor conditions.
Sat nav and infotainment
The entry-level 2 model Sportage has an 8.0-inch touchscreen with DAB radio, Android Auto, Apple Carplay and Bluetooth. All other trims get a larger, 12.3-inch screen with built-in sat-nav.
The graphics on the entry-level unit could be sharper but it's perfectly adequate, while the 12.3-inch screen is richer and responds to prods more snappily. That said, some of the text and icons are still on the small side, making them a little tricky to read at a glance or aim for when you're driving. The systems in the BMW X1 and the Mazda CX-5 have rotary dial controllers, which make them less distracting to use.
The entry-level Sportage has buttons below the infotainment screen, allowing you to easily change the stereo and climate settings. All other trims get a touch-sensitive panel with shortcuts for commonly used functions. It looks slick but the base car's buttons are easier to use. Higher-spec models have a wireless phone charging tray ahead of the gear selector, an upgraded Harman Kardon stereo and ambient lighting. There are two types of USB ports up front, and each front seat has a USB-C port for rear passengers to use.
Quality
The Sportage interior feels solidly put together, with nicely damped switches, a good range of materials used, plenty of squishy plastics and metallic-effect finishes at eye level.
Some of the plastics lower down are less pleasing, but they’re generally out of sight and have a higher chance of being scuffed anyway. It's a step above the equivalent Tucson but doesn't quite reach the premium heights of the X1 and the XC40. All models feature a leather-trimmed steering wheel, with a flat-bottomed one on sportier GT-Line versions.
Interior Overview
Well-laid-out controls; good driving position; parking sensors and a rear-view camera are standard.
Graphics on the infotainment screen could be sharper; some prestige-badge rivals feel classier.
Passenger & boot space
The Kia Sportage feels quite airy for front-seat occupants, with a wide interior providing plenty of elbow room. Leg and headroom are impressive too, and while the panoramic sunroof that comes as standard on GT-Line S trim lowers the ceiling height a little, there's still enough clearance for anyone over 6ft tall.
Storage is generous, with door pockets that are large enough to take a bottle of water, a decent lidded centre cubby box, plus trays for a phone and keys, and two cupholders behind the gear lever. There's a good-sized glovebox.
The Sportage has a generous amount of space in the back compared with most family SUV rivals, with enough leg, head and elbow room to make two tall adults comfortable. There’s also plenty of space to tuck your feet under the front seats, and the outer rear seats are heated on 3 and GT-Line S models.
The panoramic roof, if fitted, compromises headroom in the back, and anyone taller than 6ft will brush their head against the roof lining unless they lean towards the centre. Thankfully, it doesn’t come as standard on our preferred 3 trim.
All models get pockets on the backs of the front seats, as well as two coat hooks and a fold-down centre rear armrest that houses two cupholders. The rear doors can hold a drinks bottle, but they open wide enough to create a large, almost square access area that is useful for loading children into their child seats.
Seat folding and flexibility
The rear seats in the Sportage are split in a 40/20/40 arrangement (rather than the usual 60/40 arrangement) for added flexibility. All models have handy levers in the wall of the boot that you pull to make the seat backs dropdown.
The rear seats can recline to allow passengers to lean back, but you can't slide them back and forth, as you can in the Audi Q3, the Ford Kuga and the Renault Austral, or remove them, like in the Skoda Karoq with the VarioFlex option.
Boot space
Entry-level 1.6-litre petrol models with two-wheel drive and a manual gearbox get a headline boot space figure of 591 litres, which is more space than in the ZR-V, the Qashqai, the Austral and the Karoq, and just fractionally behind the equivalent Hyundai Tucson. With an automatic gearbox and MHEV tech fitted, that drops to 562 litres.
The HEV has 587 litres and the PHEV has 540. Those are still big numbers by class standards, and we managed to fit eight carry-on suitcases beneath the parcel shelf of a front-wheel-drive Sportage HEV, putting it well ahead of the ZR-V and Austral that could only swallow six bags and on a par with the Tucson.
All that means the Sportage should have no trouble handling your family's holiday luggage. The HEV’s flat floor lies flush with the boot opening, so it's easy to slide bulkier items in and out without a load lip to contend with. If you need to access the shallow storage area underneath, the floor can be flipped up and latched on to the base of the parcel shelf to keep it in place.
Practicality overview
Loads of passenger space; most versions have a big boot; rear seats split and fold flat in a versatile 40/20/40 arrangement.
Buying & owning
The starting price for the Kia Sportage undercuts the Honda ZR-V, the Hyundai Tucson, the Mazda CX-5, the Peugeot 3008 and the Renault Austral, but the Nissan Qashqai, the Seat Ateca and the Skoda Karoq have more affordable entry-level models. The MHEV and HEV versions cost more but remain competitive, priced just above the Tucson, but below an equivalent 3008. Better still, the Sportage is predicted to have stronger residuals than the Tucson. The PHEV places itself between the slightly cheaper Ford Kuga PHEV and the Tucson PHEV.
If you're looking for the lowest possible company car tax rate, the PHEV version will be the best. With its CO2 output of 25g/km and 43-mile electric-only range, it sits in the 8% benefit-in-kind (BIK) tax band, lower than the 12% rating of the Kuga and Tucson PHEVs. Even when driven in hybrid mode, you can expect to see around 50mpg (if you keep the battery charged).
The 1.6 T-GDi 230 HEV is pretty frugal, clocking up 48.7mpg in official testing, and 43.8mpg in our real-world test. That’s not as good as some diesels in the family SUV category but compares well with a lot of the petrols. The MHEV is a bit thirstier, but mid to high thirties MPG is easily achievable if the trip computer is to be believed.
Equipment, options and extras
The Sportage is not the cheapest family SUV of its size, but at least all models are well equipped, with the entry-level 2 model coming with 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, climate control and an electronic parking brake.
From there, the range moves up to the sportier GT-Line before working up to 3 and GT-Line S. Our favourite 3 trim is tempting because of its twin digital screens as well as heated front and rear seats (they’re electrically adjustable up front, too), keyless ignition and if you have the automatic gearbox, adaptive cruise control.
The GT-Line S combines sporty looks with all the kit but pushes the price up to the point where it’s far too high to recommend. What’s more, because it comes with a panoramic roof, it’s worth sitting in one just to check rear headroom is adequate before you buy.
Reliability
Kia as a brand came an impressive seventh out of 30 manufacturers in our 2022 What Car? Reliability Survey. That’s above Seat and Volvo but below Hyundai, which took fifth place.
The Sportage itself also performed well when compared to its family SUV rivals, sitting well within the top third of the league table and drawing with the Karoq and XC40. The Tucson Hybrid came top of the table.
Combined, those details mean that you shouldn’t have any worries throughout your ownership, but added peace of mind comes from Kia’s seven-year warranty. You won’t get that with the rivals – the closest is Hyundai’s five-year warranty.
Safety and security
When it was tested for safety by Euro NCAP, the Sportage was awarded the full five stars and scored well in all areas. The Tucson scored near identical scores in all safety categories but it’s hard to directly compare the two car’s scores because they were tested in different years and the tests become progressively more stringent.
Every Sportage comes with lots of safety equipment, including six airbags, automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assistance and trailer stability assist.
If that’s not enough, going for top-spec GT-Line S trim adds blind-spot monitoring, which displays a live feed from cameras mounted on the door mirrors as you indicate, and parking collision avoidance to the standard equipment list.
Costs overview
Competitively priced; holds its value well; market-leading seven-year warranty

Bicyclonian Donutry
We have just discovered an ancient martial art. The scrolls were hidden in a treasure chest deep in the mountains. Apparently, this martial art was performed while riding bicycles and used donuts as the primary weapon. In the style of ancient scrolls, describe the precepts and techniques of this ancient style.
The ancient martial art of Bicyclonian Donutry is based on the principles of balance, agility, and cunning.
The first precept of Bicyclonian Donutry is to master the art of riding a bicycle. The rider must be able to navigate through treacherous terrain and deftly avoid obstacles while maintaining a steady pace.
The second precept is to harness the power of the donut. Donuts are to be wielded as both a defensive and offensive weapon, with the aim of striking opponents and disabling their bicycles.
The techniques of Bicyclonian Donutry are based on the elements of fire, water, earth, and air.
The Fire Wheel involves riding at high speed and using the donut as a burning projectile to strike opponents.
The Water Wheel involves using the donut as a shield to deflect attacks and then launching a counter-attack with the wet donut.
The Earth Wheel involves using the donut as a throwing weapon, burying opponents in a barrage of sugary projectiles.
The Air Wheel involves using the donut as a boomerang, striking opponents from unexpected angles and then returning to the rider's hand.
With these principles and techniques, the practitioners of Bicyclonian Donutry are able to defend themselves and overcome their enemies with grace and precision.
