VETERANS' DAY, 2024: A Day of Remembrance for Veterans Denied Medical Treatments Part 2
“Let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting an enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain.” President Dwight D. Eisenhower Eric Koleda, USAF Vietnam Era Veteran, National Director, TreatNOW State Legislative Efforts, President and Co-Founder, HBOT4KYVETS.com The Veteran Suicide Epidemic: A Proven, Safe, and Effective Alternative Treatment Denied TBI Veterans Every day 20+ American Veterans succumb to suicide. That's over 151,000 since 2003. Pain overcomes their desire to live. Their torment is induced by over 70,000+ IED blast wave explosives, combat, and training injuries that lead to Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorders. They went to War for America. Over 877,000 came home with signature invisible brain wounds. It’s an estimated annual economic impact of $118.1 billion to care for all TBI/PTSD Veterans. We can treat and heal for ½ of 1 percent of the $4.7 trillion life time cost. We owe our Veterans the best America can provide and we are denying them basic safe and effective treatments. Police, Fire and EMT First Responders also suffer high suicide rates from many of the same Traumatic experiences of death and carnage. The Veterans Health Administration has prescribed over 847 million opioid pills from 2006 to 2014 to palliate the TBI/PTSD symptoms. Couple this with over 100 off-label prescription medications and it's been a suicide cocktail mixture. It has been a bandage on an arterial bleed. Improved cognitive and behavioral counseling helps but there are no FDA approved prescriptions for TBI; current standard of care has resulted in failed medical interventions. The VA Will Not Look Around Them, they only sedate our Veterans and make our most affected Veterans minimally functional with their families, at work, or permanently disabled, homeless, depressed, and/or unemployed. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) uses oxygen, approved by the FDA for use in 14 indications. And it works, used 100,000 plus times in the US and worldwide. Safety and efficacy were demonstrated in 21 clinical trials. Ten states have enacted legislation, appropriating $32.3 million for HBOT treatments. HBOT is observed to eliminate Suicide Ideation! Veterans diagnosed with TBI / PTSD who receive HBOT begin normal sleep patterns, experience reduced nightmares, improved "in the moment" life with family, and gain the ability to return to normal life and sometimes employment. The Obvious Question: Since HBOT Works to Heal TBI/PTSD, Why Isn't the Veterans Administration Using It? CBS Sunday Morning, 10 Nov 2024, broadcast an international piece on the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen for PTSD and brain wounds. Doctors and researchers in Israel and here in the US have perfected protocols for treating and healing PTSD/TBI using HBOT. Twenty years of peer-reviewed research and clinical evidence convinced the Israeli Defense Force years ago to use HBOT for its brain wounded soldiers and civilians. The program explores reasons to use the proven safe and effective here in the US. An interview with Congressman Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC) made this comment when speaking about the VA's ghosting attempts to pass legislation to demand use of HBOT: "If its being offered in Israel and they're having such good results, why the hell aren't we offering it in the United States . . . . . and if there is a treatment that has shown such definitive results, I believe it is medical malpractice not to offer that to our Veterans." The VA did not agree to comment for the program. You may view the program here. Reasons for the VA intransigence, with our responses, can be found here. Take care of yourselves, and if you can, a Veteran too. ****************************** The TreatNOW Mission is ending service member suicides. The Role of Endocannabinoids in Regulating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
PTSD Awareness Day 27th June
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can develop after an individual experiences or witnesses a traumatic event. PTSD can cause intrusive memories, avoidance behaviours, negative changes in mood and cognition, and increased arousal or reactivity. While various treatment options are available for PTSD, understanding the underlying mechanisms can pave the way for more effective therapeutic interventions. One such mechanism involves the endocannabinoid system, which plays a crucial role in regulating emotional responses and memory processes. This article will explore how endocannabinoids can regulate PTSD without diving into medical use of CBD.
The Endocannabinoid System
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex cell-signalling system that plays a vital role in maintaining homeostasis within the body. It is composed of three primary components: endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes. Endocannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds that are similar in structure to the active compounds found in cannabis. The two main endocannabinoids are anandamide and 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG).
These endocannabinoids interact with specific receptors, primarily CB1 and CB2, which are located throughout the body, including the brain and immune system. Enzymes, such as fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) and monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL), are responsible for breaking down endocannabinoids once they have fulfilled their function.
Endocannabinoids and PTSD
Research has shown that the ECS plays a significant role in the regulation of emotional responses, stress resilience, and the consolidation and extinction of fear memories. These processes are highly relevant to the development and persistence of PTSD symptoms.
1. Emotional Regulation
Endocannabinoids, particularly anandamide, have been found to modulate emotional responses and stress resilience. Anandamide can reduce anxiety-like behaviours and promote positive emotional states by binding to CB1 receptors in the brain. This interaction can help regulate the release of neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, which are crucial for maintaining emotional balance.
2. Fear Memory Consolidation and Extinction
The ECS is involved in the consolidation and extinction of fear memories, both of which are essential processes in the development and maintenance of PTSD. Consolidation refers to the stabilisation of a memory after its initial acquisition, while extinction is the process through which a conditioned response is weakened or eliminated.
Endocannabinoids can modulate these processes by influencing the activity of key brain regions, such as the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex. For instance, increased levels of anandamide have been shown to facilitate fear extinction, suggesting that enhancing endocannabinoid signalling could potentially alleviate PTSD symptoms.
3. Stress Response
The ECS plays a critical role in regulating the body's response to stress. Under normal circumstances, endocannabinoids act as a buffer against the harmful effects of stress by dampening the activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, the primary stress response system. However, in individuals with PTSD, this buffering capacity may be compromised, leading to heightened stress reactivity and vulnerability to developing PTSD symptoms.
Conclusion
Understanding the role of endocannabinoids in regulating PTSD offers valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms of this complex disorder. While more research is needed, targeting the endocannabinoid system could potentially lead to innovative therapeutic approaches that address the emotional, cognitive, and physiological aspects of PTSD.If you wish to help support and raise awareness about PTSD, you can donate here to PTSD UK on JustGiving.

6 Explanations for Urophilia Disorder: A Surprisingly Popular Kink
Original Article Here
Category is: Urophilia Disorder, also known as piss play, watersports or the watersports kink.
Urophilia disorder is a type of paraphilia. Paraphilia is just a broad term for any “unusual” sexual desire. Some of the more common ones we hear about are pedophilia (sexual feelings towards children) and necrophilia (sexual feelings towards corpses).
Having sex with corpses & children is pretty offensive in most cultures but peeing on others is surprisingly common, yet annoyingly secretive.
Urophilia Disorder Definition:
To derive sexual gratification from the smell, sight and even consumption of urine of the sexual partner.
It seems like men get associated with urophilia disorder more often than women, but in a lot of cultures men are much more empowered to talk about sex, so who really knows which sex has more interest..
If it is just boys maybe it really is this simple;
“Men have fun urinating from day 1 when that little thing squirts you in the eye when you take his nappy off.”
-Someone on Quora
But, for the sake of curiosity I’m going to explore it a little more.
Plenty of people have “normal” and “abnormal” sexual desires; but normal or not, they’re usually driven by a desire for one of these ↓
Control
Affection
Attention
Freedom of Expression
Approval
Attachment
In our everyday lives we may find ourselves yearning for these repeatedly or maybe as a child we didn’t get enough of them.
Even just one really shitty OR really good experience can leave lasting impacts on how we perceive these needs.
Sex is a form of intimacy, some might argue the ultimate form of intimacy. So, it makes sense that these desires manifest within the context of sex.
With consideration of those needs,
Here are 6 reasons why someone might take an interested in “watersports” or urophilia disorder.
1 | It’s Unconditional Love
Someone’s pee is fairly personal, and when you share personal things with a partner, it’s viewed as a form of intimacy.
Asking someone to bring urine into their sex life tests the partners’ loyalty & devotion.
Going back to those human needs; having permission to pee on someone/being peed on by another, could certainly be symbolic for approval.
“Love is sharing your popcorn piss.”
2 | It’s Naughty
Another appeal is that it’s seen as taboo & that in itself can be pretty arousing to some (without actually putting anyone at risk).
I personally think the taboo aspect of urophilia disorder is just a piece of the bigger picture, which leads me to…
3 | Erotic Shame
It’s not that uncommon.
“You dirty slut.” ← Being called a slut is usually pretty offensive. But, the person name-calling is being VERY accepting of this derogatory term.
Peeing or spitting on someone is another way of using shame as a source of eroticism.
The man whose predominant impulse is to subjugate himself to his mistress and to receive at her hands the utmost humiliation, frequently finds the climax of his gratification in being urinated on by her, whether in actual fact or only in imagination.
Havelock Ellis
It might be confusing that shame can empower and even turn someone on, but degradation play is usually doing the opposite.
Turning shame into something erotic takes two people willing to trust each other & together they challenge feelings of inadequacy by making them erotic.
Shame is powerful & often asks to be hidden, but if your partner is outwardly shaming you & is aroused by it; that’s pretty accepting.
One could argue that control is the underlying theme.
The act becomes desirable because it is the outward and visible sign of an inwardly experienced abject slavery to an adored person.
Havelock Ellis
4 | Power
Peeing on someone puts you in a position of domination and places the other in a submissive role. So, pee play could easily be another way to play with power.
There are a lot of stories & folklore that depict women as goddesses, with the ability to enslave men. It isn’t uncommon that those stories include urinating.
It’s usually described in a way that raises the status or power of the goddess & at the same time exemplifies the devotion to submission by the one enslaved.
Let us not forget that dogs piss on things to “mark their territory” & some claim that the act is simply a primitive form of dominance.
5 | It Symbolizes Sex
When it really comes down to it, urine isn’t that far off from semen or the fluid that women produce when they are turned on.
Don’t get me wrong, each of those fluids are different from the next BUT,
All of it is fluid and it all comes from genitals.. Urine has been associated with sex for a long time.
It is also desirable because of intimately sexual associations in the act itself, as a symbolical detumescence, a simulacrum of the sexual act, and one which proceeds from the sexual focus itself.
Havelock Ellis
Sometimes pee play is peeing in front of someone, sometimes it’s peeing on their chest or on their face and sometimes it’s actually drinking it.
6 | Drinking Urine
When it comes to drinking urine… is it just pushing urophilia disorder to an even more intimate level or something entirely different?
I was reading through Havelock’s document and learned that some people enjoy how it makes them feel. Urine is known to have properties of a stimulant.
In many places urine is even drank as a cure for diseases.
BUT, all the instances I read about drinking pee (erotically) have nothing to do with the properties of urine, instead they revolve around what is symbolizes.
Here are some examples
A 27 year old man once saw a woman urinating & experienced voluptuous sensations. From that moment, he sought out women urinating, the maximum of gratification being reached when he could put himself in such a position that a woman, in all innocence, would urinate into his mouth. All his sex adventures were concerned with the search for opportunities for this difficult gratification.
Archives d’Anthropologie Criminelle, November, 1900
A different guy masturbated up to the age of 16, then he abandoned the practice, and up until the age of 30 found complete satisfaction in drinking the still hot urine of women; overcome by extreme excitement & experiencing spontaneous ejaculation.
The younger the woman, the greater the experience. There was no sensory perversion and no attraction to the taste or smell; he said his senses were suspended by his excitement, making him unable to perceive the odor or taste of the fluid.
Pelanda, “Pornopatice,” Archivio di Psichiatria, facs. iii-iv, 1889, p. 356.
Further supporting that the urine kink doesn’t seem to have much to do with the urine itself …
While we don’t completely understand urophilia disorder, it’s obviously not new.
Some Watersports History
Havelock Ellis, who I mentioned above is a pretty important person in watersports kink history. He was able to connect the folklore of pee play into modern day.
He was impotent until age 60, when he realized he became excited by women urinating.
He gave an explanation to many people who wondered why they have an interest in it and humanized it. His respect and curiosity towards the topic made the not-so-uncommon taboo of peeing on people much more commonly admitted & accepted.
Another person you might have heard of is Ricky Martin. During an interview he said he liked giving people “golden showers” or “yellow rainbows”.
Here are his words
“I love giving the golden shower. I’ve done it before in the shower. It’s like so sexy, you know, the temperature of your body and the shower water is very different.”
Another notable person, Donald Trump supposedly has a recording (including himself) with two prostitutes pissing on a bed in the white house… The one Obama & Michele slept on?
If you’re curious here’s a quick video about it.
youtube
I’m sure there are plenty other people so if you know of someone else or have your own story, please share!
Friendly Reminder:
Just want to point out that many of the people I mentioned discovered their love for piss play by accident.
& in writing this I’ve learned it’s much more common than what I had thought.
Here are some stories about people discovering their pee fetish below.
Reddit Stories: Pee Gone Wild
Maybe you’ve already had an experience with watersports…
Or maybe the person you marry will be into it…
Or maybe the person you’re ALREADY MARRIED TO is into it but they’re too embarrassed to tell you!
so don’t knock it until you try it.
& if you’re just getting started
Here are some tips for the watersports kink;
Try it in the shower or tub (helps bridge the gap & is less messy.)
Purchase waterproof sheets or a mattress cover to protect your furniture.
Be hydrated
Avoid coffee leading up to it
& asparagus
Try diet sodas; the artificial sweetener makes your pee sweeter.

Free treatment for veterans with PTSD now available after $1.5 million in Kentucky funding
Our TBI treatment program made the news last night at 1000, airing multiple times this morning on the same network, WDRB. Please share in your networks. We're making progress, just not fast enough.
Click Image to view Video LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An estimated 12,000 Kentucky veterans suffer from traumatic brain injuries and PTSD, but $1.5 million in state money is now available to help them using a specific kind of treatment not offered through the VA. And the state investment is all thanks to a local veteran's family, who fought for years to get it approved. That veteran, Col. Ronald Ray, was a highly decorated United States Marine and a lawyer and went on to serve on two presidential commissions. But the wounds he suffered in war would go on to severely impact his life some decades later. Ray's widow, Eunice, tried everything she could to help her husband at the advice of doctors, including Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy, which gives patients pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. "For the veterans, they do 40 treatments for an hour," said Dr. Jack Arnold, who practices at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester. "... All the excess oxygen creates increased profusion to brain cells, helping the neurocognitive function and basically that higher level neurological communication, so to speak." For veterans suffering from traumatic brain injuries and PTSD, it essentially heals damaged tissue in the brain. "For TBIs, for those who have had cognitive impairment, it seems to really help with them," Arnold said. "It gives them a higher level of cognitive function, which helps them to have a more fulfilling life. ... People are able to hold down jobs. People are able to function better within societal norms things like that." Eric Koledia, Ronald Ray's brother-in-law, said they witnessed first hand what at TBI does when it's untreated. But they were refused HBOT treatment for Ray in Louisville. Instead, they had to travel to Panama and Florida. "I became frustrated because I thought 'Why would a person who is a veteran, who's given so much, not be able to walk in and get the treatments?'" Eunice Ray said. That set off a mission for Eunice Ray and Koleda. Together, they fought for the state legislature to approve HBOT for Veterans in Kentucky. Their efforts worked and, not only that, during the last session, lawmakers dedicated $1.5 million to pay for it. All of the treatment would be at no cost to veterans who qualify thanks to the approved state money. Now, they're trying to get the word out. "We're hoping to treat, over the next two years, 100-150 veterans," Koleda said.
Col. Ronald Ray and Eunice Ray The doctors and technicians at Clark Regional Medical Center's Wound Care Center have seen the success of HBOT therapy on veterans first hand. "It is something that's got significant, improved evidence behind it that is really working out for veterans and helping with their cognitive issues," Arnold said. The testimonials from veterans, in particular, are powerful. "Like 10 treatments into the actual process of HBOT, everything started coming back online ..." Capt. Matt Smothermon, who served in Afghanistan said in an HBOT testimonial. 'I wasn't able to sleep before. ... Now, I could finally sleep. Where I constantly stressed out, I no longer was." And former Navy Seal Brandon Cruz. "The symptoms of TBI and PTSD, they marry each other sensitivity to light mood swings,' former Navy Seal Brandon Cruz said in another video. "And I wish that everybody that had a chance to do the treatment would do the treatment, because it saved me. ... The pain goes away. Does it completely heal everything? No. But, by and large, it restores a higher level of normalcy to these veterans they haven't seen in years." The free HBOT therapy is now available to qualifying Kentucky veterans at hospitals in Louisville, Winchester and even in southern Indiana. Arnold said the treatments can help to address the veteran suicide rate, which the latest data shows is 17 per day in the U.S. "It's proven to help with that," Arnold said. "So my strong opinion is, yeah, it needs to be part of that treatment regiment to prevent that." In her late husband's memory, Eunice Ray is urging veterans to take action and reach out for help. "If I could help one veteran who's already given so much ... not have to go through this, oh my goodness, it would be such a tribute to Ron," she said. "It could be life-changing to them, life-lengthening and life-enriching." If you are a veteran and want to learn more about the treatment, click here. Read the full article
