I just graduated college and took my capstone on propaganda. Not the just the history of it but also its evolution, how it works, and what makes the best propaganda.
With the ‘unbanning’ of tiktok and the inauguration being within a day of each other a lot of propaganda has been thrown at us. I want to share what is called “the ten rules of hate” from Matt Taibbi’s book “Hate: Inc: why today’s media makes us despise one another”, which was published in 2019.
To give some context for the ten rules, Taibbi says in this chapter (chapter two) regarding the news cycle, "after generations of doing the opposite, when unity and conformity were more profitable, now the primary product the news media sells is division."
But before I state the rules I just want to remind everyone PROPAGANDA OCCURS ON BOTH SIDES. Neither side is better than one another when it comes to propaganda, it is a necessity. I say this as a democrat who believes the next four years are going to be hell. Just today I saw propaganda from both sides, ironically fitting into these ten points.
THE TEN RULES OF HATE:
There are only two sides
The two sides are in permanent conflict
Hate people, not institutions
Everything is somebody else's fault
Nothing is everyone's faults
Root, don't think
No switching teams
The other side is literally Hitler
In the fight against Hitler, everything is permitted
Feel superior
What most people get wrong about propaganda is that its intention is not change your thought process immediately, no. The purpose of propaganda is to nudge you in a certain direction. Whether that be you seeing that trump unbanned tiktok and for a split moment you think 'maybe he isn't so bad' or seeing an instagram post from Path2Progress saying 'it's a dark day in America' and you get a tinge of fear.
I am making this post because I want you to be able to look at the media you are soaking up and be able to notice that people are trying to manipulate you. Of course, there are other points to propaganda that I did not get in here as I could write several papers on this subject, which I have.
And before anyone says in the comments, "but Trump is literally Hitler", I'm just going to point out that this cycle of calling people Hitler started long before Trump's presidency in 2016. Glenn Beck, who's a conservative commentator really began the "Your neighbor is literally Hitler" movement. In Taibbi's book he writes, "Beck was awesome at this. Al Gore was Hitler. Obama was constantly Hitler." I know must Democrats would not consider these men to be Hitler, but I use this example to demonstrate its use in years past on the other party.
I am going to leave you with a quote from one of the first books written about modern propaganda. It's called "Propaganda Techniques in the World War" and was written by Harold Laswell, then published in 1927.
“But by far the most potent role of propaganda is to mobilize the animosity of the community against the enemy, to maintain friendly relations with neutrals and allies, to arouse the neutrals against the enemy, and to break up the solid wall of the enemy.”
#Propaganda#donald trump#tiktok ban#trump administration#us politics#its alright to be afraid#its alright to feel happy#though i don't agree#just don't let yourself be controlled#think for yourself#i can write more if people are interested

So, imagine you're Hesperia. You've recently gotten both your son and his... rival? to the side of the resistance after multiple years of apparently fighting against them. This is probably a rather pleasant outcome, considering said son is nearly done with his schooling and would've likely turned fighting you into his life's mission post-graduation otherwise. He's still not entirely over disobeying you at home, but you'll take what you can get.
As your son and his rival-turned-tenuous-friend apparently possess pretty powerful miraculous, The Supreme has all but sent the entirety of their remaining forces to hunting your resistance down. Luckily, you've recently recruited an invaluable kamiko. They're a natural-born therapist, a tenacious (over-)worker, and most of all... a healer.
Helping Hand is quite literally born from a desire to support others. It's no surprise this kamiko has been deployed for nearly every mission since, partially due to Helping Hand's own insistence. Their abilities to heal have allowed your ranks to fight longer, work harder, and even recharge their miraculous, even if only once.
But this time you need more than just 'once'. You look through Helping Hand's eyes as they rush further ahead than you yet again—A tactic you've become all too familiar with as of recent, as your champion will often forget to take routes you can follow. He heals Shadybug (new name pending, though she's a bet obstinate on possibly keeping the old) without a second thought, but can't draw enough energy to recharge her earrings again.
You grip the brooch harder, taking a deep breath. You allow the kamiko to feed on not just kindness, but love as well. Platonic, romantic, agapic: You're not keen on delineating right now, what vein it is doesn't matter. Helping Hand's kamiko changes from just a desire to support to a love for those he helps, and it adds three more dots to her earrings. Just enough to let her find her back to safety.
Now, Helping Hand is off to find your son.
He falters, tripping on rubble and broken glass. The Supreme and its ranks have devastated the city, but you've made a promise with the group to only permit the final cure once everyone is back in headquarters. You think it's only safe, after all, considering that all of this small resistance is practically your children—Nothing is right unless you know they're all safe. Is that why you're pushing Helping Hand to rescue Paw Noir so much? You stop to loosen your grip from your brooch, taking a breath.
If you were looking through Helping Hand's eyes, you'd see that perhaps... you let the kamiko feed on a bit too much.
Claudia Perreault is not a stable as she seems, nor as healthy as she looks. It's a wonder that all of you know so much about her—everything she does, the lengths she goes to volunteer and learn and teach and experience—without really knowing her at all. Following a death in the family that happened many, many years ago, she's dedicated her life to doing everything she can, as much as she can. No breaks, no exceptions.
The kamiko found this and it feasted.
Helping Hand feels a nauseous anxiety creep up their spine as the thoughts start to overwhelm. He's not doing enough, he has never done enough, and every moment that Paw Noir is not found and healed is a sign of failure. Failure, failure, failure. Claudia couldn't save her sister, so why should Helping Hand be any different? He moves on, but what was once a reckless optimism charging their steps has broken out into terror. He must heal, he has to heal, he is worthless otherwise.
You don't realize the fault of this lies on you when you check back in to your champion pulling your son out of the wreckage. Paw has a pained look on his face as he studies Helping Hand, even bringing a clawed hand to their jaw. "What happened?" he asks, in a tone you're not used to your son using for anyone. It seems your champion brushes the question off.
It's only hours later, when Claudia Perreault hasn't spoken a word since dekamikotization, that the pieces fall into place.
#(Helping Hand is he/him but fem presenting btw. Because what's a Claudia variant without a dash of gender fuckery)#Candace anon I request financial compensation for thinking about a Reverse AU now. That's isabugs's job not mine how dare. HOW DARE#writing blurbs#mlb oc#claudia perreault#betterfly#hesperia#miraculous fanfic#miraculous adrien#paw noir#claw noir#miraculous fandom#miraculous lb

I also have more thoughts on ES!! from a few nights ago if you'll permit me being annoying about the things i'm passionate a bit more tonight. I know I made a similar post a few weeks ago but I'm still turning the subject around in my head.
I keep rewriting my thoughts on the direction of enstars!! since we're about to enter a new era soon... to me enstars! and !! have become completely different stories. ES!! has expanded way too much and it's doing everything, but in the process forgot what was good about the story before. Leaving aside that i think they should slow down, most of the stories of !! are filler and they have added too many writers imo. But it's working well for them, they're constantly at the top of charts in revenue, so i don't think they're gonna change this...
But i can't help but think of the conversation in wonder game about alice in wonderland vs through the looking glass about the clumsy but loved story vs the sequel made for demand, and how in the climax events akira is deviating from what made enstars! special before (which is to me the focus on humanity in all its forms and what it can do, working for a better future to make up for past sins, learning to love and be loved, as well as on a meta level the relationship between author, audience, and protagonists). The more science fiction plotlines are in line with akira's other non enstars stories, and the climax events do end with a message that's reminiscent of enstars' themes, but they feel very sudden and disjointed from the previous fillery unit stories? Like how did we even get here (sentient AI born from a comatose girl, for example).
I don't even think the addition of npcs is inherently bad, there are npcs i'd loveee to see more of, like maguro, the oukawa sisters, amano, etc. But it doesn't read as these climax events wrapping up 4 years worth of stories as much as setting up a side quest and then wrapping that up, but leaving it still open enough for future explorations. And sure ! era had foreshadowing and setting up for !! in the form of Tsumugi going to work at a new agency after graduation, Izumi going to Florence & Shu to Paris, the creation of ensquare, but at the same time those final stories wrapped up their units' journeys over the course of that in universe year satisfyingly, relying on interpersonal drama rather than external influences to push them around. Maybe it also helped that they were following a formula: having to perform a repayment festival. Whereas now that we've expanded So Much, the world is their oyster and they're getting too ambitious.
I guess... there are just way more memorable character moments and hard hitting scenes in ! era for me personally, a nicely contained story. Forever waiting for !! era to finally have Subaru learn of the Tojou family's past, hopefully with no gimmicks, just heart to heart conversations about the event that changed all their lives forever, and how to deal with finding out Kaname's mom is the reason Subaru's dad is dead. That is I would say my biggest wish rn. But as much as I can criticize enstars, I am saying all of this *because* I love this story and characters, and especially what it was but lost along the way.

It occurs to me that we in the League Club often talk about our ranking system, but I do not believe anyone has explained how it works for the non-club members on this app. Please, allow me to provide a brief explanation in the hopes that this will encourage more to join.
When a Blueberry Academy student joins the League Club they are automatically placed in the lowest rank, which is Rank 5. There is no win ratio that must be maintained to stay in Rank 5, but there are minimum number of battles that you must complete every week. These battles must be against other League members, and witnessed by either a higher ranking member or Blueberry faculty. These battles are logged and recorded, and win ratios are tracked.
The next rank up, Rank 4, does have a minimum win ratio that must be maintained, though it is not particularly strict (currently it is 1:5 win:loss). So long as you are meeting your weekly minimum number of battles and maintaining the current Rank 4 win ratio you will hold your rank.
This continues to be true as you move up through the ranks. The number of minimum weekly battles does go up the higher up you climb, as does the win ratio that you must maintain. Because it is a ratio system, doing more than the weekly minimum amount of battles does not necessarily increase your rank, but there is a very direct correlation between how fast you rank up and how many battles you engage in weekly. This is because, of course, the more battles you do the better you become at battling.
Once you have increased your win:loss ratio high enough, you will be able to access Rank 1, also known as Challenger Rank. These are the club members that are permitted to challenge the Elite Four and, should they be successful, the Champion. There is no limit to how many times a Challenger Ranked member may battle the Elite Four, but if they make it through the Elite Four and up to the Champion and then lose they will be forced to restart their challenge from the beginning. Challenger Ranked members are not required to make challenges, but there is a very high win ratio that must be maintained. Battles against Elite Four members are counted in their win ratio.
The number of weekly battles that must be maintained, as well as each rank's required win:loss ratio can be changed at the discretion of the leadership team (that is, the Elite Four and Champion). We publish a weekly newsletter detailing each members' current ranking and exact win rate, challenger battle results, and any changes to the ranking system that have been decided on. This newsletter is posted on our website and emailed to our members, and is prepared and distributed by yours truly.
Elite Four members are determined by Championship seniority or Challenger ranking. Because this is a high school and an optional club, we do often lose members that graduate or simply decide to leave the club. If a Champion is defeated by a Challenger, the previous Champion is bumped to the top of the Elite Four and the lowest ranking member is bumped back to Challenger Rank. Alternatively, if a current Elite Four member graduates or drops out of the club, the leadership team will meet to review current and past Challenger Ranked members, their win ratios, and overall suitability to be an Elite Four member and offer their preferred candidate a spot on the Elite Four team. This successful candidate will be considered to be the lowest ranking member of the Elite Four, but can rank up if another member drops out or if they themselves make a successful Champion challenge.
Elite Four members do not have a specific win ratio they must maintain, but we do have a set number of Challenger battles we must engage in. This number is reviewed frequently, and determined by the amount of members currently in the Challenger rank. If we fail to meet our weekly quota we must submit a report detailing why (i.e. If there is an unexpected drop in Challenger Rank members who are actually attempting a challenge). Additionally, if we notice that a member is losing far more Challenger matches than the rest of the Elite Four team it may lead to a review of their title and potentially see them removed from the team.
So, to summarize. Everyone starts off in the lowest rank, and can battle their way up through the ranks by improving their win ratio. Only the members who reach Rank 1 may make a Challenge run against the Elite Four and Champion, and members in this rank are eligible to apply for an Elite Four position should one become available.
#pkmn irl#long post#effort post#//weewooweewoo headcanon alert#//this was spurred on by the fact that Drayton allows the player to skip past the ranking system to challenge the e4#//and does NOT elaborate on how the ranking system works. Cruelty

Thank You

If you’ll permit me a minute to be cliche: this photo would not have been possible without you. When I started university in August 2019, the sum of all my author-y potential measured up to:
No finished manuscripts
A pipe dream of ever publishing my work
A scatterbrained outline of The Laoche Chronicles
Forty-four phone notes full of half-witted ideas
A grand total of 3 followers on my brand-new tumblr account
At the time, I had no grand plans of marketing my work, though I knew it would be necessary if I ever wanted an audience. I chose a degree in chemical engineering because I knew my baby platform and half finished stories weren’t going to cut it as a career in their current state as an 18-year-old, and I needed to have a day job if I wanted to pursue my end dream of self publishing. I was just hoping to survive my first year of engineering school, pass my weed-out classes, and hopefully make some new friends. That fall semester passed with sporadic progress on my book, and halfhearted attempts at breaking into the writeblr community, until I decided to try my hand at Inktober and made my first few acquaintances: @siarven and @abalonetea, who have both featured on this blog since then. It was also at this point, sometime during a Calculus III lecture, that I invented my pen name:

All was going well, and I was pleased with my incremental progress until the world ended.
The less said about the pandemic, the better. Writeblr truly kept me sane through working full-time jobs and taking 18 credit hours during the semester. When I was truly close to dropping out of school, I kept going, knowing I had these online friends to cheer me up after brutal exams and long nights of studying. The tag games and community filled the dearth of interaction left by quarantine and an insane schedule. During my summer internship in 2020, I finally had the time to finish the first draft of Storge and the confidence in myself to start a website. Rereading my first post is a surreal experience, in part because I still see myself as a little kid as hiding under the blankets with a flashlight, notebook, and pen, thinking “I wanna write a book!”
I woke up the next day crying to the sheer volume of kind messages congratulating me on meeting this milestone. Instead of feeling burnt out after reaching such a lofty goal, this gave me all the more energy to keep working. Since then, I’ve been so blessed to grow this community and this website. It’s incredible to see how far I’ve come, now being able to claim:
A finished manuscript of Storge
A 3rd draft of Runaways after going through 2 rounds of Beta Readers
8 short stories and an audio drama
An active mailing list
Over 1000 followers on tumblr, but more importantly, a thriving community of writers who support each other’s releases through ARCs, leaving reviews, enthusiastic questions, and a welcoming space for new writers to share their craft.
140 posts on my website and regular readers who care about my ramblings ❤
Now I’m on my way to my new job – I’ll be doing research and development in my chosen field with a team I really like, and the freedom to listen to books while I’m in the lab. This next month will still be a hiatus for blog posts and new writing as I pack up my life for a cross-states move, but I’m beyond excited to enter change. My hope is that I can start saving for editing costs and devote more time to my craft thanks to a 9-5 schedule and NO!!! HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!! Really, I cannot say enough how thrilled I am to never have to take another exam ever again, thank GOD. With a bit of luck and no small amount of grace, I hope I can publish and share my stories with you sooner rather than later.
Thank you for all the support and camaraderie these past years. In a way, I owe this diploma to you as much as to my classmates and professors. The night before graduation, I said to my friends, “I’ve been waiting for tomorrow for eight years.” Now I’m living in the future, and I can’t wait to write the next chapter.

This post is long enough already but I desperately need to tell you about her so i'll go ahead and cut the post :p
Note for readers: our ocs exist in a universe that canon-adjacent at best. We change so much so far back that it's frankly absurd so just. keep that in mind while you read <3
She was born in Munich, Germany to a prominent prosecutor and his wife, their first child. Her mother died during childbirth, leaving her and her father alone and upset over her passing.
She was born with a birth defect that left her legs weak, making it difficult for her to stand and walk on some days, while other days she is largely unaffected.
Her father did his best to raise her himself, making sure she had the mobility aids she needed, and her childhood was happy. She inherited her father's passion for the law, often accompanying him to the courthouse when permitted, and excitedly insisting he tell her about the cases she wasn't able to see play out in person. She also adored her neighbors, and spent much of her time bothering hanging out with the older neighbor boy who wanted nothing to do with her and his baby sister. The spring after she turned eleven, her father's health took a turn for the worst, and in the early summer, he passed.
With no other family to take her in, she was taken to an orphanage, where she spent the next few months. Most of her free time, she was permitted to spend in the records room of the courthouse, taking in any and all cases the records-keepers would let her access.
That was where she met Edgeworth, who saw the similarities between her and himself, and, in an uncharacteristically spur-of-the-moment decision, adopted her himself.
She spent the next six years traveling Europe alongside her adoptive father, excitedly taking in foreign legal systems and studying thoroughly, with the plan to eventually become a prosecutor as well.
During this time she also had the opportunity to meet Phoenix Wright and his daughter, Trucy, whom she bonded quickly with.
When Liesel and her father returned to the United States, with no plans to leave again, Liesel threw herself head-first into Themis Legal Academy, using her knowledge from Europe to spur her focus into the way things are done in her new home.
During her time at Themis is when she met Nora Spect, her self-proclaimed best friend, and Athena Cykes, another close confidant. She was also given the opportunity to reconnect with her childhood neighbors, the Gavins. Things had changed drastically between them, since she'd last seen them, and she got along much closer with Klavier than she had as a child.
She graduated second in her class, and started her career shortly thereafter, facing off for the first time in a real courtroom across from her best friend.
She prioritizes truth above everything else, leading her to have very few wins on record against Nora, though that hardly stops them from celebrating each case they work together, inviting friends out for drinks and karaoke.
okay i'm gonna stop rambling here bc actual events get really shaky from here on but!! other stuff to mention
she's autistic as fuck (she caught the Lawtism, as I've been calling it)
she's cishet & polyam
she's 18 during the events of aa4 and saw all four of the cases in person (4-1 from the gallery, and 4-2 through 4-4 while working alongside Klavier)
she had a crush on Klavier when she was a kid and it kinda faded while they weren't in touch but it comes back full force when she meets him again (and she's exceptionally awful at hiding it)
she has been asking for a cat since she was a child and only gets one after she moves out of her family's home because she was always either moving around too much in Europe or, once in the states, phoenix moves in and he's allergic
she's legally 5 feet tall but medically she's 4'11". she lied on her drivers license and her id and doesn't feel bad for it.
she spent a good portion of her life thinking of gay as the 'default' because so few of the people she interacted with were straight. she came out as straight to her family and is still embarrassed about it years down the line
she gets into a relationship w/ Klavier and Apollo at some point. still workshopping when exactly i just know she ends up w them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#ts4#sims 4#ts4 lookbook#acv attorney oc#ace attorney#misc screenies#sim; Liesel#she originally had a much darker backstory but it made us too sad to think about in detail so i scrapped it and now it's far less upsetting#anyway. my blorbo my scrimblo my babygirl look at her#this post took so long i've been working on it since yesterday </3#wcifs are open btw!! i'm not gonna list everything she wears bc that list would be Too Long but i'll answer asks about stuff <3

Know Your Rights as an International Student in Canada
Moving to a new country for education is exciting but comes with challenges. As an International Student in Canada, knowing your rights ensures a smooth and secure experience.
Canada is known for its supportive policies, but understanding your entitlements can protect you from unfair treatment and help you focus on your education. From study permits to work opportunities and healthcare access, this guide covers essential rights for an International Student in Canada.
Right to Stay and Study
Your study permit allows you to stay and study in Canada at a designated learning institution (DLI). You must comply with its conditions, including maintaining full-time enrollment and leaving Canada after it expires unless you apply for an extension or a different visa. If you change your school or program, inform immigration authorities to update your records.
Right to Work
An International Student in Canada can work up to 20 hours per week during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks without a separate work permit if the study permit includes a work condition. For co-op or internships, a special work permit may be required.
Right to Fair Work Conditions
If you work while studying, you are entitled to a safe workplace and fair wages. Employers cannot discriminate against you based on nationality or student status. You should receive at least the provincial minimum wage and work in safe conditions. If mistreated at work, report it to local labor authorities.
Right to Healthcare
Healthcare access depends on the province. Some offer public healthcare to international students, while others require private insurance. Before arrival, check your province’s healthcare policies. If eligible, apply for a health card as soon as you arrive.
Right to Housing Protection
Finding accommodation is crucial for an International Student in Canada. Whether in university housing or private rentals, tenants have rights. Landlords cannot discriminate against you, and you are entitled to safe living conditions and fair rental agreements. Always review lease terms before signing.
Right to Be Free from Discrimination
Canada values diversity and inclusion. As an International Student in Canada, you are protected from discrimination based on race, nationality, gender, religion, or disability. Schools, workplaces, and landlords must treat you fairly. Report discrimination to human rights organizations or student support services.
Right to Academic Fairness
Universities ensure fairness in academic evaluations and provide support services. If you face unfair treatment in coursework or exams, appeal through your school’s academic board or student office.
Right to Visa Extensions and Work Permits
After graduation, you may apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) to gain Canadian work experience. If you wish to stay longer, explore immigration options like Express Entry or Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Apply for visa extensions before expiry to avoid issues.
Right to Legal Help
If you face legal issues, universities and organizations offer legal aid services. Whether it’s employment, housing, or immigration-related concerns, seek professional advice when needed.
Right to Cultural Participation
As an International Student in Canada, you can freely engage in cultural and social activities. Join student organizations, attend events, and explore Canada’s diverse culture to enhance your experience.
Understanding your rights as an International Student in Canada ensures a successful stay. Knowing your legal entitlements regarding education, work, healthcare, and housing helps you feel secure. Canada offers many opportunities, and by staying informed, you can make the most of your student life while ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience.

Canada PGWP & PR Update 2025: New Rules and PR Options
In 2025, Canada is implementing significant changes to its Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and Permanent Residency (PR) programs. These updates aim to streamline immigration processes and address labor market needs.

Choosing the Right Immigration Law Firm: A Guide for Immigrants to Canada
Immigrating to Canada is a life-changing decision, but the process can be complex, time-consuming, and full of legal hurdles. Whether you're applying for permanent residency, a work permit, or seeking asylum, an immigration law firm can help simplify the process and increase your chances of success.
In this article, we'll explore the role of an immigration law firm, the services they offer, and how to choose the right firm for your needs.
What is an Immigration Law Firm?
An immigration law firm is a legal practice specializing in Canadian immigration and visa-related matters. These firms help individuals, families, and businesses navigate immigration laws, ensuring compliance with regulations and increasing the likelihood of a successful application.
Experienced immigration lawyers provide legal advice, represent clients in immigration hearings, and assist with paperwork, making the entire process smoother.
Services Offered by an Immigration Law Firm
Immigration law firms provide a range of services to help individuals and businesses with their immigration needs. Some of the most common services include:
1. Permanent Residency Applications
Immigration lawyers assist clients in applying for permanent residency through various programs such as:
Express Entry – A points-based system for skilled workers.
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) – For individuals nominated by specific provinces.
Family Sponsorship – For spouses, parents, and children of Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
2. Work and Study Permits
Work Permits – For individuals who have a job offer from a Canadian employer.
Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP) – For international students who wish to work in Canada after completing their studies.
LMIA Applications – Assisting employers in obtaining a Labour Market Impact Assessment to hire foreign workers.
3. Citizenship Applications
Immigration law firms guide permanent residents through the process of becoming Canadian citizens by ensuring they meet eligibility requirements and assisting with application submissions.
4. Refugee and Asylum Claims
Lawyers provide legal representation for individuals seeking refugee status or asylum protection in Canada, helping them present a strong case.
5. Appeals and Litigation
If an immigration application is denied, a law firm can appeal the decision or represent clients in immigration hearings before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) or the Federal Court of Canada.
Why Hire an Immigration Law Firm?
The Canadian immigration process is often challenging, with strict deadlines and extensive documentation requirements. A professional immigration law firm provides the following benefits:
1. Expertise and Experience
Immigration lawyers are well-versed in the latest legal changes and requirements, ensuring that your application is accurate and meets all criteria.
2. Avoid Costly Mistakes
Simple errors in an immigration application can lead to rejections or long delays. Lawyers ensure that all paperwork is correctly completed and submitted.
3. Faster Processing
With expert guidance, your application is more likely to be processed quickly and efficiently, avoiding unnecessary delays due to missing documents or incorrect information.
4. Representation in Complex Cases
For individuals with previous visa denials, criminal records, or other complications, an immigration law firm can provide legal strategies to improve the chances of approval.
5. Legal Protection and Advocacy
If your application is denied, an immigration lawyer can represent you in court, file appeals, or seek judicial reviews to challenge unfair decisions.
How to Choose the Best Immigration Law Firm
With many immigration law firms available, selecting the right one is crucial for a successful application. Here are some tips:
1. Check Experience and Credentials
Ensure the firm specializes in immigration law and has a track record of handling cases similar to yours. Look for Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) or licensed immigration lawyers.
2. Read Client Reviews and Testimonials
Look for reviews on Google, law firm websites, or immigration forums to see how previous clients rate their services.
3. Schedule a Consultation
Most law firms offer initial consultations. Use this opportunity to ask about their experience, fees, and success rates.
4. Avoid Scams
Beware of immigration fraud. A legitimate law firm will never guarantee approvals or ask for upfront payments without a clear contract.
5. Consider Their Communication and Transparency
A good law firm should keep you informed throughout the process and be responsive to your questions and concerns.
Conclusion
An immigration law firm plays a crucial role in helping individuals and businesses navigate the complexities of Canadian immigration law. Whether you’re applying for a work permit, permanent residency, or refugee status, having the right legal support can make all the difference.

Top Immigration Pathways to Canada in 2025: Which One is Right for You?
When considering your move to Canada, it's crucial to understand the immigration programs available, both temporary and permanent. These pathways vary based on your goals, whether you're looking to study, work, or settle permanently. Here’s a breakdown of the options to help you decide which is best for you.
Temporary Visa Pathways to Canada from India
Study in Canada as an International Student One popular route is through a student visa. You can study in Canada, apply for a post-study work permit after graduation, and eventually pursue permanent residency (PR) through the Canadian Experience Class. However, due to recent policy changes, post-study work permits are generally granted only to those with postgraduate degrees or higher qualifications.
Work in Canada To work in Canada, you’ll need a job offer from a Canadian employer willing to sponsor you, especially for roles where no Canadian citizens or PR holders are available. This process involves the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). You can apply for PR later, but keep in mind that securing work permits has become more challenging, especially outside in-demand fields like STEM, trades, hospitality, and healthcare.
Short-Term Visa This visa applies to those planning to stay in Canada for no longer than six months, whether for a short course, event, or temporary work.
Temporary Work Visas These visas are typically issued to seasonal workers, often in agriculture or tourism during peak seasons.
Permanent Immigration Pathways to Settle in Canada
Federal Skilled Worker Program (Express Entry) The Express Entry program is a point-based system where candidates are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). High-scoring applicants receive invitations to apply for PR. In recent times, CRS scores for non-STEM, non-healthcare, and non-French-speaking occupations have increased, making it more competitive for these professions.
French-Speaking Professionals and Tradespeople If you speak French and have at least a B2 level certification, you may qualify for a PR visa with a lower CRS score, making it easier to be invited to apply. Experience in the relevant occupation further strengthens your application.
Tradesperson PR Visa This pathway is ideal for tradespeople who receive a job offer from a Canadian employer. Although the English language requirement is relatively low (CLB4), you may need a provincial license to work in certain trades. You can also obtain an online Canadian trade certificate to meet the qualifications.
Canadian Start-Up PR Visa Entrepreneurs and start-up founders with innovative and scalable projects can apply for this visa. Up to five co-founders can submit a joint application. Although recent restrictions have made this route more competitive, it remains an attractive option for seasoned professionals, with an investment requirement of USD 80,000–120,000.
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Entrepreneurs, skilled professionals, and tradespeople can apply through the PNP, which allows provinces to nominate candidates. A PNP nomination provides up to 600 additional points in the Express Entry system, significantly boosting your chances of receiving a PR invitation.
Intra-Company Transfer to Canada If you're a senior executive or director with a company planning to expand to Canada, you can apply for a work permit to manage a Canadian branch. After establishing the business, you can apply for PR.
C11 Visa This visa is available to those who buy or start a business in Canada. Once your business plan is approved by a province, you can apply for Canadian PR, provided you meet the business plan's goals.
Global Talent Visa Highly qualified professionals and senior executives in specialized fields can apply for this fast-track visa, which grants Canada PR for both the individual and their family within six months.
Which Pathway Suits You?
Your ideal immigration pathway depends on your qualifications, CRS score, occupation, and long-term plans. If your CRS score is low, or you're not in a high-demand field like healthcare or STEM, programs like the Start-Up Visa, C11 Visa, or PNP might be more suitable. However, if you're in a preferred occupation, you should consider the Express Entry program.
If you’re not looking to settle in Canada permanently, temporary options like work permits or intra-company transfers can be a good fit.

Changes to the Canada Workers Benefit: What’s New in 2025?
The Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) is an essential income support program aimed at helping low-income workers across Canada. With 2025 on the horizon, several changes have been introduced to the CWB, making it more beneficial for eligible individuals. In this article, we will explore what’s new with the Canada Workers Benefit, what changes to expect, and how these adjustments can impact Canadian workers. Additionally, we'll touch on related topics like PR card renewal and some of the highest paying jobs in Canada, which can play a role in a worker's overall financial planning.

What is the Canada Workers Benefit (CWB)?
The Canada Workers Benefit is designed to provide financial assistance to low-income working individuals and families. By offering direct payments, the CWB helps alleviate poverty and supports the financial well-being of workers who earn below a certain threshold. The benefit is a refundable tax credit, meaning that it can reduce the taxes a worker owes, and, in some cases, result in a direct payment if no taxes are owed.
Changes to the Canada Workers Benefit in 2025
In 2025, the federal government has introduced a few key changes to the Canada Workers Benefit, expanding its reach and providing more support to low-income workers. These adjustments are part of Canada's ongoing effort to improve financial equity and assist workers who are struggling to make ends meet.
1. Increased Benefit Amounts
One of the most significant changes to the Canada Workers Benefit in 2025 is the increase in benefit amounts. The government has raised the maximum amount of the benefit available to eligible individuals and families. This adjustment is particularly beneficial for workers in high-cost regions, where expenses can far exceed the average wage. By increasing the benefit amounts, the government aims to ensure that more workers are financially supported, particularly as inflation continues to affect the cost of living.
2. Expanded Eligibility Criteria
The Canada Workers Benefit eligibility has also been expanded in 2025. More workers, including those with slightly higher incomes, will now qualify for the benefit. This change aims to support a broader range of workers, especially those whose earnings are on the edge of eligibility. This can include workers who have experienced fluctuating incomes due to seasonal work or those in part-time employment.
Additionally, the threshold for receiving the benefit has been adjusted, which means that more people can qualify, particularly in regions with higher living costs. If you’ve been on the fence about whether you qualify for the Canada Workers Benefit, 2025’s changes may open up new opportunities to access financial support.
3. Streamlined Application Process
The government has also worked on streamlining the application process for the Canada Workers Benefit. For 2025, the application process has been made easier for eligible individuals, allowing them to apply for the benefit directly through their tax returns. The increased accessibility and simplified paperwork mean fewer barriers to accessing these crucial funds for low-income workers.
How Does PR Card Renewal Impact Canada Workers Benefit?
Although the Canada Workers Benefit is primarily focused on financial assistance for low-income workers, the status of your permanent residency in Canada can affect your eligibility. If you are a permanent resident, your PR card renewal could be an essential part of maintaining access to certain benefits, including the Canada Workers Benefit.
For example, if you are in the process of renewing your PR card and your status is under review, it may temporarily affect your eligibility for federal assistance programs, including the CWB. Ensuring your PR status remains active and up to date will help you access benefits like the Canada Workers Benefit without interruptions.
The Link Between High-Paying Jobs and Canada Workers Benefit
While the Canada Workers Benefit is designed for low-income workers, it's important to keep in mind the broader context of income and employment opportunities in Canada. The eligibility for CWB is determined by income levels, so workers in higher-paying jobs may not qualify for assistance. However, for those who find themselves just above the threshold, certain financial planning strategies, including exploring some of the highest paying jobs in Canada, may allow them to manage their finances more effectively.
Some of the highest paying jobs in Canada include roles in sectors such as technology, medicine, and engineering. Careers like software engineers, physicians, and aerospace engineers can earn significantly more than the median wage, placing them above the income levels that qualify for the Canada Workers Benefit. While these high-paying jobs are not eligible for CWB, they are critical to understanding the income spectrum in Canada.
On the other hand, workers in middle-income or low-income categories, including those who are just starting their careers or those employed in industries with lower wages, can benefit the most from the CWB. Understanding where you stand on the income scale can help you plan accordingly and explore options for both short-term financial assistance (like the CWB) and long-term career growth in highest paying jobs.
How to Take Advantage of the Changes
If you think you might qualify for the Canada Workers Benefit in 2025, or if you are already a recipient, it’s important to stay up to date with the changes and take full advantage of the increased amounts and streamlined application process. Here are some tips:
Check Eligibility: Review the updated eligibility criteria for 2025 to ensure you qualify.
File Your Taxes on Time: Ensure you file your tax returns promptly, as this is how the benefit is applied.
Plan Your Financial Future: While the CWB is a great support, also consider exploring higher-paying career opportunities that can elevate your financial stability in the long run.
Conclusion
The Canada Workers Benefit has undergone several improvements in 2025, making it easier for eligible workers to receive support and increasing the benefit amounts to better reflect the economic challenges many face today. With expanded eligibility and a more user-friendly application process, more Canadians can access this important financial assistance.
Additionally, maintaining your PR card and exploring highest paying jobs in Canada are key considerations for both your immediate financial needs and long-term career success. The changes to the Canada Workers Benefit are a welcome update for many, and understanding how they apply to your specific situation will help you make the most of the support available to you.
