We’re home!

I’ve got the portable Wound Vac. Reading up on how it works, troubleshooting, etc etc.

I’ve got to take him to the surgeon’s office tomorrow morning before the snow so they can change his dressing cuz NC changed the state employee health plan to Aetna and they don’t work with any home health aides in my town! Lovely.

He’s doing good. He’s happy to be home, like me. All cats are asleep within 2 feet of me!

Speaking of sleeping… I get to sleep in my own bed with my husband tonite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so butch.

My dryer wasn't drying so It had to be fixed! I will recount the events.

First I unplugged the big bitch

Then I moved the dryer from the wall so that I could get behind it, as well as pull a shop vac back there. From behind it I removed the clamp that attached the flexible vent hose to the air vent at the back of the dryer. With the vent opened I ran the hose for the shop vac inside of the flexible vent hose and sucked out and stuck debris, I did the same inside the dryer vent hole. I expected there to be a large clog somewhere inside but I didn't find it.

Notes: the metal vent port in the back of the dryer is made from sheet metal. It is very sharp, don't cut your fingers like me.

I couldn't find anything indicating a clog from the back, so I went to the front. I had to remove the housing for the lint screen. This was very difficult because there were 5 screws, 2 in the front of the dryer and 3 on the inside. They were all different sizes so I separated them into piles. After removing the screws the housing came apart in 2 pieces. One was the flappy bit that says "insert lint screen here" the other was the inside wall, that didn't get fully removed because there was some electrical wires connecting it that I didn't wanna fuck with.

With the housing removed I found the problem, it was a 3 inch deep pile of lint, cat hair, and dog hair, and dimes. It had blocked most of the air flow out of the dryer it seems. I tried to suck it out and my vaccume clogged and wouldn't run. I will have to take it apart to fix it later. Undeterred I grabbed a pair of tongs and began to remove all the debris by hand. This was very dirty work, please wear a mask if you do it. I didn't and I am feeling very silly about it as I write. Additionally the inside parts of the dryer are made of sheet metal and are very sharp. Wear gloves if you try this bc I cut my fingers up.

Notes: wear PPE mask and gloves, try to properly light the area, I put my phone in the dryer and it DID NOT help.

Finally having removed sufficient debris I began to put everything back together, interior wall, screws, reattach the flexible vent hose (in the future id like to use rigid venting but that's currently out of the scope of my abilities), plug it back in, and push the dryer back against the wall. You maybe be saying, Elle it sounds like you forgot something and you would be right. I forgot to put the flappy bit back on. So I had to remove the 5 screws holding the housing in place and replace the flappy bit and put the 5 screws back. It was frustrating.

Final notes: the biggest difficulty for me was a lack of proper lighting. If you can bring a portable lamp I would recommend you do. Also PPE. Where I live it probably would have cost us 300 bucks to get this fixed. It took me 10 minutes of googling and an hour of struggling (I'm not as able bodied anymore). I'm hopeful that I've resolved the issue, if I haven't we will consider calling a technician.

Tools: I used a Philips head screwdriver and a shop vac. You could dry it with a regular vaccume with a hose attachment, but this broke my shop vac so you should be confident that you can repair it. Also a great amount of queer audacity.

You resisted the urge to speed up, maintaining your casual and tired demeanor as you passed each other in the pristine hallway.

You started up the industrial vaccum, turning up your music as you attended to the already immaculate carpet. While doing this, you stooped under the table, making sure to linger around the large meeting table. Fighting with imaginary tough spots, at one point you placed a small electronic mic on the underside of the table top next to the inner most side of one of the legs.

In about an hour this room was booked for an outwardly dry meeting about annuals and next years projections. That wasn't all that was being discussed, though.

There were discussions planned to go down at this meeting with persons in attendance that the agency had a particular interest in at this time.

You continued to clean the rest of the room putting on a show for any eyes that may be drawn to you by the sound.

Thankfully, you were left undisturbed.

Giving the table a wipe with a cloth and whatever cleaning solution you'd jacked from that one janitors' closet you collected you things and headed for the door.

Collision.

You staggered back as a shirt and tie ran headlong into you. Papers went flying and you tumbled backwards as papers fluttered to the floor.

You weren't much of a reader but the now half empty file folder in the other person's arms sported an all to commonly seen word.

The shirt and tie was still standing in the doorway, a stunned expression on his face. You recognized this guy from your mission briefing.

A rookie that had been making a name for himself with the opposition.

You widened your eyes. Apologies tumbled from your lips, as you began gathering up the papers that had fallen around you.

As you fluttered about, back half turned and gathering papers your enemy agent seemed to come to his senses.

"Don't touch those!"

With all the startle of a humble cleaner in a tv drama you drop the papers to the floor and wheel about, apologies beginning once again.

The suit waves you off and clutching your cleaning caddy you make a speedy exit.

He would count the papers and find them accounted for. What he wouldn't find was the bug now carefully secured to his person. You really had to shake the hand of the lab tech who managed to make one so unobtrusive and easy to deploy.

It was genius.

The folks in Comms would likely have their hands full for the next few hours.

Ditching your caddy back in the closet you were out the doors and three blocks away before the meeting was due to begin.

Your earbuds chimed and with a tap to the right, you had the little automated voice rattling off the text.

It was from DJ.

You had been surprised when he'd asked for your number. Sure you had stuck around after close for a few nights now but the novelty of having someone ask you about your day had yet to wear off. You hadn't had anyone that close since...

Every one has some type of filter in the apt. or home. This is the strongest portable vacuum i have ever used. So, ya need a new filter for AC or separate air cleaner. Use the vac on the filter and use the filter for a longer period. I us mine on my air cleaner and it works great.
