Be real, ironically "funny" if it turns out that Danny was right and the part about the Blood Blossoms that make them actually useful as a contingency plan does involve them growing in blood-soaked soil.

Perhaps that is even why they went extinct to begin with! People realized the connection between blood and high amounts of iron, figured they would just put in other iron sources so they could stop bleeding over these plants, and then blamed some sort of blight for their rapid extinction when the reality is that, no, the pilgrims really had it right the whole time and it was the blood that did it all along.
