This House We Live In
*PART 2*
Part 1 of x: This House We Live In
Pairing: M’Baku x Reader
Length: 1.8k + words
Warning: none.
Tumblr media
M’Baku laid next to her, his head resting on her lap as her fingers drew unknown shapes on the side of his face.
His eyes were closed.
She was humming slowly.
They were still in that moment – entirely still.
“A tribe and a home. it seems I’ll be forced to choose between both.”
The girl’s movements stilled, her breath hitched.
His eyes snapped open as he looked up at her.
“I would choose a home with you, there is no doubt in my mind. Just say the word and I swear before Hanuman, before the mountains that we call home, before the sun and before the stars that we can leave this all behind if that would mean I would be still with you – for more than just a second.”
“They won’t make you choose, Baku.” Her soft words of reassurance did nothing to ease M’Baku.
“I want you here, with me. Don’t you see that I need – I just, so desperately need you to be still with me. Just for a second. That is all I ask for, a second still with you. I feel as though I haven’t looked at you – really looked at you in days – no, in weeks.”
“Words straight out of my father’s mouth.”
The future Jabari tribe leader closed his eyes once more, this time it was anguish and not peacefulness drawn on his face.
The palace, M’Baku’s home that had once been filled with the joy and light of Hanuman himself had dimmed and turned grey, dull and lifeless. The sudden death of his younger brother to an unknown illness being the catalyst of this shift, the chieftain and his wife had become numb to themselves all the while assuring the well-being of their tribe.
“And do you know what mother replied to that?”
It was now the girl’s turn to frown, she continued to stroke his face softly and stayed quiet.
“Nothing. She had said nothing. Mother had just stood there and watched as she broke father’s heart!”
M’Baku had escaped her grasp and was now standing before her fuming.
She could see it as clear as the snow fell on the other side of her bedroom window, he was filled to the brink.
The anger and hurt he carried within him seemed to unravel him at once. Her heart bled for him as she stood up from the small bed they had been lounging on to take hold of his shaking hands.
“Look at me,” her voice was low but firm, she was the only one capable of bringing M’Baku back to himself when his emotions ran wild and attempted to suffocate him.
His watery eyes left her dark Jabari wood floors and turned up to her. He took a deep breath, clinging desperately to her.
“Don’t talk at me Baku,” she pleaded “talk to me.”
She knew there was much more to the story M’Baku let on. While he was seen as a unwavering rock by the others, to her he was an open book whose lines tended to waiver at times.
“I didn’t want it to be like that – that isn’t a life, that isn’t a home, that is just empty and cold and two people sharing a bed – I just,” M’Baku tripped and fumbled over his words as he tried to vocalize what it was exactly that was tearing him apart.
“I don’t want us to be like that love.” He had pulled her close, both hands cupping her face. M’Baku wanted to make sure she heard him, loud and clear.
“I want a life,” M’Baku whispered, “I want a home – a home that is filled and warm and more than just two people sharing a bed. I want to be still with you for more than a fucking instant.”
His image wavered as her eyes started to fill with tears. While they were both too young to know anything about anything in their 17th year of life, there was no doubt in her mind that she loved this boy and that she would be in love with him for the rest of her living days.
And so she kissed him. Threw her arms around his neck and pulled him even closer so that her actions would demonstrate the extent of what she felt for him.
That night, in the midst of her childhood home, the two lovers poured themselves into the each other – M’Baku making sure to fill her with his love until she could no longer find the strength to breathe any longer.
·
M’Baku was cold.
The Jabari tribe leader was adorned in the finest furs there was to offer and yet he remained cold.
Such affliction had been attempted to be remedied by the lighting of many fires. While some were more memorable, more beautiful, more curvaceous and more intriguing throughout the years, none seemed to be the one to light the fire within, like it had blazed in his youth.
It was on nights like these, when the winds blew violently and the snow fell relentlessly that M’Baku wondered.
It had taken years of discipline and hard work for him to hold back from reaching out to her.
A drug in her own right, M’Baku had been almost fifteen years sober.
He had refused to have anything that had to do with her come even close to reaching his ear.
No mention of her name, no news, no follow-ups, nothing.
It was that particularly cold night, when the cold raged outside and seeped into his skin that M’Baku finally gave in and sought her out.
His trek to the little place he was told was her home was weighted on him to the point where each step taken in the middle of the wind and the ice and the snow pained him greatly.
He was filled to the brink.
Pulling his hood closer to his face, the Jabari chief let out a strangled moan as he spotted the house in question. He had camped out in the midst of a snowstorm for days, he had fought wild beasts with nothing but a spear, he had watched his brothers in arms die before his eyes –
but this.
M’Baku stood still before the door of the house for a long moment, not knowing if what resided on the other side of that door would mend or break the soul he hid so carefully within.
The harsh wind beckoned him to knock. He conceded.
As the door finally opened, she appeared in all her glory.
The light behind her pooled unto the dark snow he stood on as suddenly he felt it.
That warmth emanating from her hit M’Baku with such force that he almost staggered backwards.
It was the look of utter disbelief drawn on her radiant face that kept him standing.
Fourteen years and M’Baku couldn’t help but think that she glowed even more beautifully than she did back when they nothing but kids.
The shock turned into a huge smile as she beckoned him inside.
“You will freeze yourself to death standing in the cold like that, Baku!” She scolded as she hurriedly closed the door behind him.
Baku.
It was when she turned around a faced him that M’Baku finally took notice of the swollen belly she sported.
His eyes left her stomach and made their way back up to hers. They still held that twinkle they always had but to that was added the spark of a woman with child.
She was magnificent and he was sinking.
The woman offered him some food and drink.
M’Baku refused and numbly looked around at the home she had built.
He agreed to sit beside her on the large couch in her living room.
“Why are you here, M’Baku?” The softness in her voice carried M’Baku back in time, yet the nature of her question held him back.
As he looked down at her he knew he would dare not utter a lie to her.
“I missed you,” he croaked out.
Concern flashed on her face as the woman opened her mouth to respond.
“Mama!”
The two adults’ gaze shifted from one another to the little girl that had, unbeknownst to them, made her way down the stairs and into the living room.
“Kayela,” the woman scolded gently, “what are you doing out of bed at such a late hour?”
The girl looked at the large man besides her mother curiously before gazing at the floor beneath her feet guiltily.
Her mother sighed, “is it the storm love?”
To that the girl nodded once more.
“Alright, you go back to bed now. Give mama a second and she’ll be up there to tuck you in.”
M’Baku’s throat tightened painfully.
As the small pitter-patters of the girl’s footsteps disappeared, the woman turned her gaze from the staircase back to the man before her and covered his large cold hands with her small warm ones.
“I missed you too, M’Baku.”
The small smile she sent his way made his heart clench.
He cleared his throat, “it has been so long. What have you been up too?”
M’Baku hoped that her excited chatter would be drowned out by the heavy beating of his heart, however his mind hung on every last word that came out of her lips, each word digging the dagger deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper in.
She had found a life – She had found a home – She had found full and warm and more than two people sharing a bed.
She had found a moment of stillness with someone other than him.
“What about you?” The question was thrown at him such force that he got caught off guard.
“I suppose I’m looking” M’Baku licked his lips as he eyes left her curious ones, “for something.”
To that answer she frowned, “what exactly are you looking for, Baku?”
The concern on her face was almost comforting to him; nevertheless, he remained silent.
M’Baku prayed she had lost the ability to see right through him during the last decade and a half.
He hoped and prayed.
·
Had she settled?
M’Baku asked himself that question as he threw on his furs once more and made his way towards the door with her in tow.
No.
As much as it hurt him to say, she had not settled. She had moved on and had grown up while he had stayed still for longer than a second in the past with a version of her that had died a long long time ago.
“I hope you find what you’re looking for…”
Her words trailed off as M’Baku stepped outside, the piercing cold a welcome feeling to the Jabari leader for her warmth had started to suffocate him.
“I did,” he stated, “it simply isn’t mine any longer.”
Those words didn’t reach her ear as they hid and disappeared in the cover of the strident wind.
His face would stay with her for a long time after that last encounter.
That face she had once witnessed as being so full of life, had now been transformed by his sad eyes and his longing gaze.
It tugged at her soul, the small glimpse of his face she had caught before he had turned his back to her and marched his way back to his throne. The foot prints he left on the ground disappeared as they were covered by the snow, leaving no proof he had even come at all.
Her heart bid him goodbye and it bled for him in that instant – just a second of stillness for him was what she sent out as she closed the door of her home behind him.
She had a little girl that wouldn’t be rocked back to sleep on her own.
·
Darling, have a heart Don't let one mistake keep us apart I'm not meant to live alone
Turn this house into a home
When I climb the stair and turn the key Oh, please be there still in love
with me

A/N: I’ve been listening to some sad 70s and 80s love ballads from which this cookie was born. I’ve been inspired. I’m thinking of making this part of a three-fic compilation entitled My Poor Baby M’Baku: a three part collection of Hurt!M’Baku oneshots. Should I have a go at it? And yes, I am well aware I got two full series to update, but hey inspiration hits what inspiration’s gonna hit 🤷🏾‍♀️.

You Are Mine.
Pairing: M’Baku x Reader
Summary: 9. How dare someone touch what belongs to him! After defending your honor, quickie car sex is the logical next step!
Warnings: Smut, Violence, Ex’s being dicks
Word count: 1,800+
This is in response to prompt #9 #mbakusmistressff hosted by @muse-of-mbaku @great-neckpectations and @iwannalearnhowtoship (hopefully I didn’t forget anyone)
“M’Baku wait!” You cried, taking twice as many strides the man in front of you. He was angry, and you understood why but he needed to listen to reason first.
“M’Baku,” you tried again to no avail. People were staring now and that bothered you.
“Baby! Please stop!” you finally caught his attention.
M’Baku’s movements halted allowing you to catch up with him. Stepping between him and his intended target, you placed one hand on his chest and the other on his cheek.
“Please look at me,” you whispered as you gently rubbed his cheek and you smiled when his eyes finally locked with yours. “Don’t do anything, I’m sure he didn’t mean anything by it. Let's just leave and forget this at happened, okay?”
M’Baku regarded you for a moment, he was visibly upset, and you knew that in this state he would probably kill a man. Anger rolled off of him in waves, and even your soft touches couldn’t calm him. Your eyes pleaded with him to just walk away with you, and you almost had him until you felt someone’s arm drape across your shoulder.
“Is this your new man?” the new voice asked. “Sweetheart, you can do much better. You have done much better, Y/N.” You tensed at his words and your heart dropped into the pit of your stomach once you saw the fire in M’Baku’s eyes as the man continued to touch you.
Something inside you told you that you shouldn't have told M’Baku how Sean had cornered on your way from the bathroom but lying to M’Baku wasn’t easy for you. He immediately sensed that something was wrong upon your return, and all but demanded you to tell him what happened. You didn't want to ruin your night out, but you have a hard time keeping things from M’Baku. As soon as you told him and pointed in the general direction of Sean, M’Baku was out of his seat and headed straight for him, which landed you in your current situation.
You would like to blame the man's behavior on the alcohol, but 1) alcohol does not excuse your behavior, and 2) this man was not drunk. You knew he wasn’t drunk because Sean never drank, he was just a dick. You’d tried your best to stay away from him since the breakup a year and a half ago, but he always ended up wherever you were, ruining every date you've had. You were surprised that you were able to keep your relationship with M’Baku away from him for this long, but it seemed as if your luck ran out.
You shrugged off his arm and stepped even closer to M’Baku, who now had his eyes locked on Sean. “Baku, please, let's just go,” you pleaded once again hoping that any confrontation could be avoided. Sean wasn’t having it though, he grabbed your waist and pulled you back to him before laughing at your shriek. You struggled against him trying to break free and return to M’Baku, but his hold on you only grew tighter. You were close to breaking down and crying until you heard the barks coming from M’Baku.
Everyone froze as M’Baku continued to bark and the grip Sean had on you relaxed enough for you to move away from him. You ran and stood behind M’Baku knowing that he was too far gone to listen to reason, but you needed to try anyway. But as soon as you opened your mouth, he was in front of your Sean, fist cocked back then solidly connecting with Sean’s jaw. The sickening crunch of Sean's jaw breaking echoed around the room as you watched him fall to the ground.
The room was silent as you walked towards M’Baku, his chest rising and falling as he breathed deeply. You didn't touch him until you were directly in his line of sight and you whispered his name softly.
It took a few seconds, but his eyes finally locked onto yours before he crashed his lips onto yours easily dominating you.
You weren't sure how long the two of you stood there, but the sound of someone missing their throat had you pulling apart. Before they could speak, M’Baku was pulling you away and out the door. He didn't stop walking until he reached the parking lot, even though you had been begging him to ‘slow down’ ever since he started walking. Your strides weren't as long as his, so for every one of his, you had to take two.
“Why are we out here, ‘Baku?” you needed to get him to talk, you realized that he hadn't spoken a word since… well since you told him about Sean cornering you.
“We need to tell the others what happened and that we’re okay,” you said as you pulled your hand out of his to reach for your phone. Before you had the chance to grab your phone, you were lifted off the ground and pressed against a car, your car you noticed, with M’Baku standing between your thighs.
“No,” he growled. It was the first word he’d spoken since this whole thing began and it irked you.
“No? What do you mean ‘no’? M’Baku, we have to let them know where we are. They’re going to be worried about us,” you pleaded.
His eyes traced over your face as if he were trying to memorize every detail, but he remained silent. You chewed your bottom lip as he studied you, his thumbs rubbing small circles under the hem of your dress on your thighs. Your breath hitched when his eyes snapped back to yours.
“I mean,” he stated. “That you aren't going anywhere or calling anyone right now.” He stepped closer to you so that you could feel how hard he was.
You nodded your head just before his lips collided with yours once more. You loved the feeling of his lips against yours. You loved when he kissed you, the world felt all right when he did. His soft lips on yours made you forget about everything. He moved his lips from your mouth to your neck, leaving a trail of kisses and nips to your clavicle before licking the top of your breast. You moaned and rocked your hips against his pelvis, your dress riding up higher on your thighs. He continued to kiss and nip at your cleavage as you rocked your hips against his.
"M'Baku, we gotta stop," you whispered between moans. You didn’t really want to stop, you just didn’t want him to fuck you out in the open.
He growled and pulled you away from the car and opened the back door of your car. You giggled when your back touched the seat as M’Baku climbed in on top of you. He smirked at you before unbuckling his pants. Your eyes glazed over as he pulled his hardened length out of his pants and licked his lips.
"Normally, we would go slow, but right now I’m going to fuck you hard and fast. Are you ready?" he said as he slowly pumped his fist along his dick.
At your nod, he slid your panties to the side and thrust into you. He kept true to his word and didn’t give you any time to adjust to his size. As soon as he slid into you, he pulled out until only the tip remained in and repeated the action numerous times. His strokes were hard and fast, and you knew neither of you were going to last long. You clawed at his back, sure that you were leaving marks and bit his shoulder.
"Let me hear you. Tell him who you belong to, Y/N. Tell him who's fucking you like this," he grunted between each thrust. He wanted you to be loud, something you had trouble with, but with these strokes and his words, you were sure to obey him.
You detached your teeth from his shoulder and cried out. He grabbed both of your hands in his and laced your fingers together before coming down for a kiss.
"Let me hear you, YN," he repeated when he pulled back. "Who's fucking you, hmm?"
"You are," you cried, your chest heaving as you tried to catch your breath. You could feel your orgasm building so you wrapped your legs tighter around his waist in hopes to pull him closer.
He shook his head, "Not good enough. What’s my name?" he released one of your hands and slapped your thigh ripping a screech from you.
"MMM'Baku!!!" you cried when one particularly hard thrust sent you completely over the edge. M'Baku groaned as you came, your pussy gripping him for dear life, but his thrusts never let up.
"Fuck you’re beautiful. I wish you could see yourself right now," he whispered. "No one is ever going to touch you again, Y/N. You. Are. Mine. Y/N." Each word was punctuated by a thrust sending you into another orgasm.
"Baku, I’m yours, forever. Please cum, ‘Baku," you pleaded. You weren’t sure if you’d be able to survive another orgasm.
He growled and slapped your thigh again, his thrust becoming sloppier by the second. He raised his hand and cupped your cheek before wiping away the tears that had slipped from your eyes and kissed you once more. "One more, baby. Give me one more," he mumbled against your lips.
A couple of thrusts later, you convulsed around him, finally dragging him along with you. You were positive that anyone that walked near your car had heard you all, but you didn’t care at the moment. All you cared about was the man currently laying on top of you and the orgasms that he had just ripped out of you. You thought about everything that you’d said, and you found that you didn’t mind being his. He'd been good to you ever since you met, and you knew it would only get better. You loved everything about this man.
Before your breath returned to normal, you felt M’Baku slide out of you and place his shirt over you. You heard the back door open and close as your eyes drifted closed and smiled when he opened the front door and started the car. Before he could put the car in reverse, you heard someone tap on the window.
"So, I guess you’re headed home?" you heard T'Challa's voice ask from outside.
M’Baku must have nodded because T’Challa laughed. "We heard about what happened. I was going to follow you when I saw you dragging poor Y/N out of the restaurant, but N'Jadaka advised that I give you a few minutes. Goodness M’Baku, you couldn’t wait until you got her home?" he was still chuckling.
"She can handle it," M’Baku replied, and you could hear the smile in his voice.
"Nguye? Akayena yena?" T’Challa voice said in his native tongue. M’Baku didn’t answer, or you didn’t see his answer since your eyes were still closed.
You felt the car shift into gear as you heard T'Challa's voice once more. "Drive safe, brother. Good night, Y/N."
As M’Baku pulled out of the parking lot, you finally drifted off to sleep, happy that you've finally found a keeper.
*Translation- Nguye? Akayena yena?- She’s the one? Isn’t she?

Alrighty so we got the pairs...what are your thoughts on them?
Let’s take this one by one, shall we?
Charles Melton and Kendall Jenner: Hot! That chizzled jawline and her model body? It’s official. They need to make a baby out of this date or they’ll disappoint me.
Emma Watson and Winston Duke: Random but if M'Baku doesn’t wine and dine our beloved witchy genius then he should’ve saved his money.
Garrett Hedlund and Margot Robbie: Garret got lucky. Plain and simple. Does this many carry lucky charms in his pocket? Because in my opinion, he won. Not Margot.
James Rodriguez and Nina Dobrev: Nina just did her man dirty! Does anyone know how Paul is taking it? I hate to say it but he’s washed up from his time as the mysterious vampire lover. Move over, Edward Cullen. You’ve got competition.
Jensen Ackles and Taron Egerton: Can you hear the cries of all the ladies that fished out their coin for a date with the supernatural hunter only to be beat out by the new Elton John? Must be disappointing.
Jeremy Jordan and Lily James: I’ve seen more exciting things than this pairing. Least it was for charity.
Jessica Parker Kennedy and Melissa Benoist: Can I get a yes? These two bad ass ladies take my vote for one of the most surprising pairs out of this auction. Hopefully the two of them find out they want to see more of the V where they usually see the P.
Joseph Dempsie and Maisie Williams: Enough with the onscreen lovers. Their characters get freaky in the sheets and now they have to bring it to reality? Predictable.
Kim Jisoo and Priyanka Chopra: Cute. Maybe Priyanka will figure out that she’s more into the ladies and that ring will get a return to sender back to Aaron.
Mark Consuelos and Lisa Manoban: Is it getting hot up in here? Guess this is what happens when you break up with a football player. You move on to more experienced options. We see you, Lisa.
Phoebe Tonkin and Nic Nemeth: We’re going to have to keep an eye on this one. They have potential of being a messy hook up after this date. Do I sense the next Selena G and Bieber?
Rami Malek and Bruno Mars: Just one question. Do you hear that screaming? Don’t worry, that’s just Oscar when he found out the results.
Sam Hunt and Scarlett Johansson: This goes up there with one of the most unpredictable, yet, satisfying results. But be careful now, Sam. If the night goes well she just might hide a kid from you for five years.
Shay Mitchell and Sebastian Stan: Oh Sebastian. What are we going to do with you? Don’t you know that this woman has already been through the ringer with her poor taste in men. At least make the sex great enough for her to take her mind off things.

Infinity War spoilers ahead
I watched Infinity War yesterday (I was the third person in my town to buy a ticket yay). And I needed a day to comprehend it. But here's a list of my favourite (kinda) parts.
I KNEW somewhere deep in my bones that that was the beginning we were gonna get. I KNEW and I still was not ready.
LOKI NO
But my goodness, Loki referring to himself as Odinson and looking at Thor OH MYYY
And the 'We have a hulk thing' perfect
Heimdall has always been a damn legend and we knew this
But to be honest I was watching the scene through my fingers CAUSE I COULD FEEL IT WAS COMING
Tony and Pepper are getting married! And they wanna have a babyyy!
Stephan and Wong discussing ice cream made me laugh
EARTH IS CLOSED TODAY
Ned!
I like how they did the relationship between Bruce and Hulk
Bruce gets to shine on his own yay
I get that its weird but I actually think Vision and Wanda are cute
I love Wanda being all badass
The cinema got sooo excited when Steve turned up
Steve sassing those government people and reuniting with Rhodey made me happy
The Guardians jamming on their ship
Their humour was very appreciated, it lightened the movie up a bit
Thor's 'family's weird' with Gamora, he's such an understanding soul
Thor and Rocket's little heart to heart. Why do they put him through so much?
The fact that tree was taught as an elective in Asgard
Peter and Gamora, I love them!!!
Drax and his invisibility
Speaking of Gamora. OH MY GOODNESS NO
And Red Skull? He kinda looks like the grim reaper now lol
Also its a good thing Peter Parker watches a lot of movies
That fight scene tho
Legit when Tony got stabbed everyone went into a stunned silence
Im so proud of groot, making a handle for Thor's new hammer
Also Thor's new hammer is pretty rad just saying
M'Baku calling Tchalla brother got me emotional
'Get this man a shield'
Tchalla saying 'then it will be a noble ending' what a guy
The cinema went wild when Thor rocked up
Thor and Steve talking, even just for a bit gave me so much hope
I forgot to mention Steve and Bucky hugging, I cry
Okoye, Natasha and Wanda are a dream team
'Why was she up there!?'
I always love Nat's running commentary
Bruce kicking butt
Rocket and Bucky. WHAT A DUO
I FREAKED OUT in that last sequence where Thanos is just leveling everyone. Especially when he hit Steve, just the way he went limp had me TERRIFIED
BUT POOR WANDA. Doing what needed to be done just for stupid Thanos to come and undo it.
I actually really love Visions character so much and now he's DEAD
Thor. My poor poor Thor
THAT STUPID SNAP. Everyone in the cinema gasped
I thought that maybe, just for a second, the soul stone had been like 'you're not worthy' or something and killed Thanos
But I was wrong
Baby Gamora😭
Buckys 'Steve?' He was so confused im sad
Groot!? They killed him again, Im broken
Tchalla's 'this is no place to die' and then continues to die
And Peter! He's just a child! He was so scared. I BALLED
Poor Tony oh my goooooosh
Dr Strange, I know he knows what he's doing and everything's gonna ok. Okay?
Steve's 'oh god' at the end. Yah same
Im sad him and Tony didn't reunite
Nick calling Captain Marvel at the end
All in all though 10/10 I'm going to watch it again to watch what i missed the first time

First Dates
T’Challa reacts to his daughter, Adanya, going on a real date. Base off of a conversation with @syreanne about how he would react.
‘’T’Challa Udaku, you will not embarrass our daughter today. Do you understand me,’’ you question, fixing your husband’s tie.
After a combined total of nearly fifteen years of marriage, you know him well enough to know that he’s fixing his lips to lie to you when he looks at you in mock surprise.
‘’I know you, T’Challa. Adanya is a smart, beautiful young lady. She is kind and determined. You can not tell me that you did not see the say that she'd be asked out coming up.’’
Your sixteen-year old daughter is going on her first date, and T’Challa is a right mess about it. He’s been pacing back and forth in those sandals- yes, you know the one- rubbing at his temples and muttering under his breath.
‘’For Bast’s sake, love, she’s too young.’’
‘’She is sixteen! Didn’t you go on your first date when you were, like, fifteen?’’
‘’I had known Nakia my whole life at that point.’’
‘’And Bakari is just as good for her as Nakia was for you. It’s just a date, husband She may very well not be able to stand him and they won’t go out again. But you are letting her go. It is just a dance, T’Challa. Nothing serious.’’
‘’Was it nothing when you went to that Winter Dance with your college boyfriend?’’
   ‘’That was different!’’
‘’You ended up dating for two years and she is too young for that kind of commitment.’’
‘’T’Challa Udaku,’’ you take his face in your hands, ‘’She is going on that date. He is taking her to dinner afterwards. Two members of the Dora Milaje will be nearby at all times. You do not have to worry. If you ruin this for her, though, I’m making you sleep in another room. Forever?’’
   ‘’Forever?’’
   ‘’Forever.’’
‘’You know, you said that when I did not want Ado going to the event with M’Baku and his son. You know M'Baku has no filter. You said that, then, but somehow… we still ended up in this situation.’’
He rubs your pregnant stomach, chuckling when you roll your eyes.
   ‘’Shut up, T’Challa.’’
   ‘’Make me,my love.’’
‘’Okay, you asked for it,’’ you press a kiss to his lips, marveling in the taste that has felt like home for over fifteen years now.
You’ve known each other for over twenty-years, and, still, nothing feels like him.
‘’Baba, mother,’’ Adanya knocks on the slightly open door before entering, all dressed up to attend  her high school’s dance.
She is dressed in a navy, off the shoulder dress, and silver heels. Her braids currently fall down her back. You know that she plans to pin them before she leaves.
‘’You look gorgeous,’’ you separate form T’Challa, striding over to your baby girl and bringing her in for a hug.
‘’Thank you, mother. Baba, how do I look?’’
She’s looking at him expectantly, his opinion being the only male one that matters.
T’Challa walks towards her, placing a hand on both of her shoulders.
‘’Intombazana yakho’’ he presses a kiss to her forehead, ‘’ubonakala umhle.’’
‘’I look beautiful,’’ she grins, showing just how insecure she’s been feeling lately.
   ‘’Always. Ndiyakuthanda .’’
   ‘’I love you, too, baba.’’
‘’I do not mean to interrupt,’’ Ramonda enters, ‘’You look amazing, my granddaughter, But Bakari is here, Adanya.’’
‘’No! I have not even finished pinning my hair up or doing my makeup!’’
‘’I will help you,’’ you grab her hand, leading her back to her room, ‘’Let’s go. T’Challa, go talk to Bakari. And be nice.’’
So he goes downstairs and meets the young man in the foyer, returning the Wakana salute that he gives him.
Fifteen minutes later, though, Bakari finds himself being stared down by Ayo, Abiola, Abimbola, and the king of Wakanda himself.
‘’What are your intentions with my daughter,’’ T'Challa questions, giving Bakari a blank look.
   ‘’I’m sorry, sir?’’
‘’He said,’’ thirteen-year-old Ado begins, ‘’ ‘What are your intentions?’. Why did you ask my sister out?’’
‘’I, uh… I think she is very beautiful. He is smart and kind, too. We are friends. We met through Jelani, so I figured it would be a fun time at the dance.’’
‘’What kind of ‘Fun time’ are you planning on having?’’
‘’Rest assure, sir, I don’t think of Adanya that way.’’
   ‘’Are you lying?’’
‘’No, prince Ado! I promise I am not!’’
‘’Daddy, he smells like cologne. A lot of it,’’ Abioye says.
‘’It doesn’t seml good,’’ Abimbola pitches in.
   ‘’I… I got nervous. I was sweating a lot and I-I didn’t wanna sm-smell bad so-’’
‘’T’Challa, Ado, Abioye and Abimbola,’’ you begin, rounding the corner, ‘’Leave this nice young man alone. Hello, Bakari it is nice to meet you.’’
‘’It is nice to meet you,a s well, my Queen,’’ he gives you the salute, and you return it, ‘’Adanya will be down in a moment. She was grabbing her kimyo beads and purse.’’
Just then, Ramonda comes down the stairs, her younger sister, Nyala, trailing behind her, holding Ramonda’s hands.
‘’Adanya,’’ Bakair stares at the princess with wide eyes, ‘’You look stunning.’’
‘’Thank you,’’ she grins eyes on the floor as she exudes shyness, ‘’You look very handsome as well.’’
After pictures, the pair head off, leaving you to deal with your sons and husband.
‘’Leave that poor boy alone! Ayo has left with them and they will be fine. Besides, do you think Jelani or Ayo would let anything happen to that girl? Also, Adanya can take care of herself.’’
‘’You are right, my love. I apologize,’’ T’Challa sighs, and your sons follow his lead.
‘’Now, I am going to put the children to bed. Don’t you need to go spar with Okoye or read something?’’
‘’You are right,’’ T’Challa presses a kiss you toye head, Abioye’s , Abimbola and Nala's before bidding a good night to Ado and Ramonda, ‘’I do have some business to take care of. I will see you in a few hours.’’
And with that,’ he takes off with Okoye.
Because the work of the Black Panther is never done.
Adanya’s laughing, cpbr tng her puth to try contain her giggles, ‘’Bakari!’’
‘’I’m serious,’’ he chuckles, setting his drink back on the table, ‘’I’m not a good dancer. I was trying to keep up with you and Jelani!’’
‘’You did just fine,’’ she reassures him, reaching across the table and placing a hand on his, ‘’I had a good time.’’
‘’I did, too,’’ he reveals, ‘’I mean, when Jelani wasn’t glaring at me.’’
‘’Why would Jelani glare at you,’’ she frowns.
‘’I don’t know. Maybe he did not want us to go together.’’
Adanya mulls that over, taking a bite of her pasta as she does so.
‘’You are not mad, are you?’’
‘’No,’’ she shakes her head, shifting her eye contact back to Bakari, ‘’Surprised, though. I guess I never noticed that he had feelings for me. And-’’
‘’Um, Adanya? I don't mean to be rude, but, um… Is that your dad?’’
Adanya whirls around to see her dad about two or three booths behind the, holding a newspaper and wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap and wearing… is that a fake mustache?
‘’Bast,’’ she grows, putting her head in her hands, ‘’What is he doing here?’’
‘’He’s really protective of you,’’ Bakari chuckles, looking back to Adanya, ‘’He loves you.’’
‘’This man,’’ she sings, shaking her head, ‘’Mother will have to talk to him.’’
And that’s exactly what you do an hour and a half later, when Okoye, Ayo, T’Challa and Adanya are allbakc at the palace safely.
   ‘’A fake mustache, T’Challa? Really?’’
‘’It was for my disguise, entle.’’
‘’T’Challa, you already have a real mustache!’’
‘’Adanya knows what that looks like!’’
‘’Husband, she knows what you look like!’’
This goes on for thirty minutes, Adanya watching with an amused look.
‘’Mother, baba. I am going to bed,’’ she hugs you before turning to her father, ‘’I love you both. Thank you dad. I know you did this for a reason.’’
‘’I did,’’ he admits, ‘’I am sorry.’’
‘’Do not be. Grandma tells me embarrassing things about you all of the time. You can tell this to my children. Good night, mother. Good night, baba.’’
‘’Good night, Adanya,’’ you and T'Challa state in unison before she takes the winding staircase up to her bedroom.
‘’You know that was odd of you, right?’’
‘’I just want to protect her,’’ T'Challa admits, ‘’I do not want her hurt.’’
‘’I know that you do not, T’Challa. I don’t, either. But we have got to let her go and make her own decisions.’’
‘’I know,’’ he whispers, holding you close, ‘’I just did not think that it would be so soon. I messed up, didn’t I?’’
‘’You have a good heart, T’Challa. Your execution is awful.’’
He laughs then, a genuine one before kissing you, ‘’Thank you for keeping me grounded.’’
‘’Thank you for loving the children as much as you do. Now, come on. We have some policies to look over before our meeting tomorrow.’’
‘’There’s something else I’d rather pay attention to,’’ he tells you suggestively.
Which is how you find yourself in bed with T’Challa, his head on your chest as you run a hand over hs curls, ‘’I love you, entle.’’
   ‘’I love you, too, T’Challa.’’
A beat passes by before another thought pops into your mind and you have to ask, ‘’T’Challa?’’
   ‘’My love?’’
‘’Where’d you even get that fake mustache from?’’
‘’I am a master at disguise.’’
   ‘’T’Challa?’’
   ‘’Entle?’’
   ‘’Go to bed.’’
   ‘’Good night, my love.’’
   ‘’Good night, T’Challa.’’

2000
Gugu watched as M’Baku ran around with the older kids. They used to play together all the time but ever since he turned 12 years old, 11 months ago and started to notice the older girls and began to try to impress the older boys by chasing after them, she has been left out of his after-duty activities. Gugu looked out of the huge windows in the Jabari throne room and saw the storm picking up. The wind was howling, and the snow was falling so fast and so heavy that it completely turned the night sky white, bringing in a dim but shiny reflective light onto the floors.
The room was growing colder and colder even though it was filled with about 60 children. She hated these nights, stormy nights when they put all the kids living in the palace in one room and expected them to take care of the younger children. It was supposed to keep them calm but really it made her even more nervous. Lately, they were put into the throne room once a week, this was the worst Jabari winter in 50 years, at least that what her ninny said last night when she thought Gugu was asleep in her lap.
She knew it had to be serious because even M’Baku, who claims she is just a child every chance he gets, came and checked on her. She glanced over at him and he smiled wide and bright and pointed to her bag. She knows he’s signaling her to eat the warm cookies she took earlier at dinner, but she huffs and turns back to the wind, snow and the increasing sound of silence.
The silence she soon realized shouldn’t have been the sound greeting her ears and she turned to find M’baku who was descending from the throne to greet his father, M’Kabo. All the children rushed forward and bowed to the king of the Jabari tribe, except Gugu who turned back to the window, worried about her own parents, only after ensuring her baby sister was okay in her little portable bed.
The white cloud like snow started to fall faster and it looked like someone turned a box of snow upside down and it all fell at one time on a continuous loop and she couldn’t help but wonder where the rest of the Jabari tribe were and how they were holding up outside of the castle. She wanted to be sad over losing M’Baku to the older children, but honestly, she has gained so many new friends since she has convinced her parents to let her attend school outside of the palace that she only misses him when home.
“Gugulethu, why are you not bowing to me? Do you think you are exempt from following the rules... as per usual? Or do you no longer care for your king?” M'Kabo spoke to her but he did not yell like he normally does when disrespected. Gugu has never bowed to him in private but always in public and lately, she has been reserved, and very disobedient.
Gugu sighed and turned around partly, keeping her legs towards the window and her upper body on its side facing the king, “It is you who believes you are better than us. Why do we bow to you? We are all humans, we all bleed, we all die. If you die M’Baku becomes king. Why are we bowing to you when we could turn on you and take you away from being a king? Why not bow to us in appreciation? Why not-“
“Konele! I do not know who this new person is, but you are just a child, and what you speak is repetition from adults. Now tell me little girl, who spoke these evil words about me?” M’kabo walked forward, and everyone parted ways. Gugu stayed in her position but bowed when M”Kabo was directly in front of her.
“The elders in the village say you don’t care about us and you are power hungry. Maybe that’s why your son treat me so poorly now, and why he chases after the older girls even when they tell him to stop”
“Everyone except Gugulethu and her sibling may return to their quarters now, your parents will be in shortly. M’Baku stay”
“Yes baba” M’Baku cut his eyes at Gugu and she rolled her own in return. Gugu was turning 11 soon and that meant M’Baku would be turning 13 and thus be cut off from her until she was 13 and began to train to be his warrior, or healer if her father could convince her, which he couldn’t.
She hated M'Baku now, she told him so every time he picked on her, defended her, ignored her, spoke to her, snuck her cookies, and even walked her home from school. Well more like followed her home after football practice to make sure no one messed with her, but she knew he was there hiding wherever he could.
“Gugu?”
“Yes, Kaby?”
M’Kabo sighed, he could never win with her, she always called him by his nickname when no one was around. Even now, with her being in trouble she stayed true to herself.
“What is wrong huh? Why are you so angry inside here? Are you not happy? I am a great king. No one is poor in Jabari, no one wants for nothing here. You yourself live in the palace and go to school in the village. Why are you so angry?” M’Kabo asked as he kneeled to her. M’Baku leaned in as well.
“Because I want to be a warrior and you make me train to be a healer. I do not want that for me, my father is a healer and my mother is a healer, but I want to fight! And people are suffering in the villages from the storms and the snow and they are moving to the hotter areas of Wakanda and when they go you turn their homes into nothing and it hurts me and them. They need more protection from the snow, they need more food because it’s too hard to travel up and down the mountains for food when the storms are unpredictable. Your people are starving Kaby and I can’t bring enough food to feed my classmates, so I have to divide it up by days and people and the whole school is starving.” Gugu spoke so fast, made sure she said everything she had to say before he cut her off. She looked up at the king and he looked perplexed by the new information.
Gugu stood and walked over to gather their belongings. She was tired, she had healer training in the morning and M'Baku was just standing there being nothing to her.
“I will visit the villages tomorrow and I will bring them food and I will start on building them sturdier homes and improving the ones they have now. I will turn the empty homes into food shelters, and whatever else the villagers say they need. Thank you for this information, my child. M’Baku see Gugu and Aila to their quarters.”
“Yes Baba”
As soon as they hit the hallway M’Baku paused, “What is wrong with you? Why did you talk to my father that way? Why are you so angry with me?” He looked genuinely concerned but also there was rage brewing behind his eyes.
Gugu shrugged, “Because it was true and because you are mean to me now, you treat me like I am nothing, and my baba says it’s because you are older now, but you are always older now." Gugu looked up at him expectantly, hoping he would remember they were friends but he rolled his eyes and scoffed at her. "I can walk to my home from here with Aila alone Baku.”
“Ungumhlobo wam ozithandayo. Ndiyakuthanda, with all my heart Gugu” M’Baku grabbed her hand and placed it on his heart and smiled a genuine soft smile at her. Gugu scoffed and pulled her hand away and started to storm off.
“We are children Baku, stop playing around, it is storming, and my sister is afraid and you love me not”
“I love you so!”
“No, you don’t!”
“Yes!”
“No!”
“Yes!”
“No!”
M’Baku ran to block her from continuing down the hallway, “I’m going to tell on you if you don’t say it back!”
Gugu tried to move him out of her way but he was too big. His stance was firm and he knew she couldn't move him, so he smirked and stood firm.
“You are always older, but you are also dumber! Big stupid giant!”
“Stupid little girl!”
“I am not a little girl! I am a warrior and I am fierce, and I will beat you one day! Now move!”
“Make me,” M’Baku teased. Knowing she wasn’t strong enough even though they were about the same height, maybe even weight. She sized him up and noticed they were almost equal, she is still a child, baby weight ninny says but Gugu liked being bigger, taller, muscular, chubbier., she liked being her.
“Step aside little prince, or I will tell Kano and M’Kabo you are harassing your favorite friend”
Both children turned around to see Dayo, M’Kabo’s loyal advisor and guard watching them from the doorway of the kitchen. M’Baku stepped to his right to let Gugu pass and Dayo disappeared into the kitchen to be with his husband Tran. Gugu grabbed Aila’s portable crib and began her 15minute journey home to the healing quarters alone. M’Baku still followed her in secret like he does when she’s leaving football practice, except this time she was unaware of the anger he felt towards his actions.

Oh my poor babies, damn you M'Baku 😭😭😭😭
Not Gon Cry—
Tumblr media
Previous Chapter— Chapter One
Characters— Black Reader X M’Baku
Content— Trials Of Black Love, Adultery, Broken Vows and Marriage, Humiliation and Manipulation
Plot— Based off of the song, “Not Gon Cry” by Mary J. Blige on her Share My World album. This is strictly based off of the lyrics, but a little twist. In addition, I STRONGLY suggest listening to this song on REPLAY while reading to get further feels, but hey..
Narrative— Seventy-two hours have passed since you last seen your weeping husband and with your emotions running rapidly you found yourself barricaded into your hotel room.
With the curtains closed blocking the view of the Eiffel Tower, multiple bottles of wine around the messy room and Mary J. Blige’s Share My World album on a replay you were temporarily sedated.
Mentally running away from the reality of your failed marriage you threw yourself deeper into the liquor as streams of your foundation separated on your face mocking the path where your tears had fallen.
With a headache pounding in your frontal lobe you found yourself waking up on the disheveled bed with an empty bottle of merlot lying underneath the palm of your right hand. While your left hand attempted to block the strong rays of sunshine peeking through the thin, lightweight curtains. “Fuck.” You hissed, as you slowly rose your upper body off of the bed.
Your vision still blurry from your intoxicated state you placed a hand on your forehead in attempt to control your hangover. Feeling the increasing pressure of the headache pounding against your skull along with the dryness of your throat, and the acidic taste imprinted on your tastebuds you felt the churning of your lower half occur. Abruptly puffing up your cheeks you felt the food rushing up your esophagus.
Quickly placing a hand over your mouth you jumped ontop of the bed and onto the other side of the room reaching the grand bathroom. Shuffling over towards the toilet you propped your hands on the rim before releasing the liquid contents into the toilet. Heaving heavily through the vomit you desperately attempted to get some oxygen to your lungs throughout the grueling process.
It was in that moment when you decided to get your shit together. Mopping around and slowly killing your liver wasn’t gonna heal your failed marriage or get rid of the anxiety of telling your kids that you were planning on leaving their father.
Hopping on the aircraft to Wakanda within the next few hours you found yourself walking down the wide hallways of the Jabari kingdom. Turning a corner you faced your children’s playroom where you could see them playing with their miniature action figures and stuffed animals. Briefly pausing infront of their door you inhaled slowly before pushing it open while instantly catching their attention.
“Umama! Umama!” You heard them shout, as you watched their eyes light up with joy as they dropped their toys before running as fast as their little bodies allowed them. Swiftly dropping onto your knees you opened your arms before feeling your children cling tightly onto body. “Sikukhumbula!” They shouted, in unison as best as they could well as best as your two year old daughter, the youngest could express.
Suddenly feeling a light haze being placed over you, you felt tears pooling up as you felt them put small kisses on your cheeks. Sniffling, you saw them pull back with curiosity at your current state. “What’s wrong, umama?” Your oldest son, Mandla asked.
Raising a hand gently placing it on his cheek you gave a weak smiled, “Nothing, usana. I’m just happy to see my babies.” You spoke, before caressing all of their cheeks. Man were they a perfect image of you and M’Baku. Having your husband’s head shape with your slender jaw, his auburn hair color, your alluring brown eyes and his nose bridge your sons inherited his lip size while your daughter had your plump lips.
Soon a tear escaped your eyes and trailed down your cheek catching your daughter’s attention, “Don’t be sad, umama. We are right here.” Cebisa spoke, before she gave you a small smile.
Oh, what you wouldn’t do to keep a smile on your children’s faces. However, it was eating you inside that you knew you would have to break the news about the separation soon before they started to sense any tension between you and their father.
How long you would wait? You didn’t know.
Feeling a small hand snapping you out of thought as it wiped your tears you looked up seeing your middle child and second son, Zuko. Grabbing onto his hand in your palm you gently squeezed it in appreciation before placing a kiss on it.
You were extremely grateful for children they were the only innocent party in this messy circumstance.
After kissing their cheeks once more you left them to play amongst themselves as you set out to find their father. Approaching the guard placed outside of the door you spoke, “Where is my husband?” You asked.
“In the throne room, chieftess.” He barked out.
Nodding your head you started walking before you reached the room. Greeting the guards they opened the doors as you walked inside hearing nothing but faint groans and mumbling. Looking up you saw the Great Gorilla slouching in his seat with a weary look on his face while he listened to his advisors talk.
They were stressing the importance on why he needed to be in attendance of an upcoming meeting with the neighboring tribes. “Chief M’Baku this is the chance we need to take, this will show the tribes that we are serious about building a relationship.” One of the advisors explained. “—Oh, he won’t listen to y’all, but he will be at that meeting I promise.” You stated, letting your presence be known.
Snapping his head up at the sound of your voice he immediately straighten up at your appearance as he suddenly dismissed his advisors. “W-What are you doing here, sithandwa sa?” He stuttered.
A sly grin gracing your face, “Suprised, usana? You should be. Why am I here you say? After the adultery you committed and I stand before you, yet you are confused?” You questioned, as you timidly walked closer towards the puzzled man.
“Don’t you remember we have children? However, as much as I don’t want to see you I came to tell you that we need to discuss our separation.” You spoke, as you now stood infront of his large figure.
Seeing his expression change to a regretful one you shook your head, “There is no time to ponder over the six months of cheating, save that for another time of your own.” You spat, watching his figure gradually tense up with every word.
“We have to talk about how are we going to let our little ones know. I also came to let you know that I am moving out of Gorilla City and into the heart of the country where the Golden Tribe is located, so we must work out the details on the visitation.”
Abruptly standing up he shouted, “No!” as his chest rose heavily as his heartbeat increased. “You are not leaving me, you can’t! What about our family? What about the Jabari, you are their chieftess. You are my wife!” He hollered, as he weakly protested.
Feeling your blood starting to boil you creased your forehead in anger. “Who the hell are you yelling at nigga! I am a grown woman and you will not tell me my obligations and duties. I have been by your side since I was twenty-two years old, but I will refuse to stand by you any longer. It is my choice!” You yelled, as your amplitude increased. “Would you take me back if I slept with T’Challa? Or anyone else? No!” You exclaimed, feeling your blood pressure rise.
Silence was his best option as you tore him a new ass. “Anyways, I will have papers sent to you soon and I expect to receive them within two days.” You demanded, before leaving the throne room.
Over the next forty-two hours you stayed clear of M’Baku as you gave all your attention to into your children. From helping Cebisa with her language, playing cars with Zuko and attending Mandla’s combat training. You felt like a great mom.
However, as the day approached for the Great Gorilla to hand you over the separation papers you felt sad. Your marriage was coming to a end and although it wasn’t because of your actions you felt responsible. You were dreading this day as you would have to tell your kids that you were leaving their father and leaving the Jabari kingdom the next day.
Wanting to get the weight lifted off of your chest you decided with M’Baku that’s after dinner it would be best to call them into your bedroom chambers.
“—Utata, what’s wrong with umama?” You heard Zuko ask M’Baku as he gazed at your troubled face.
Clearing your throat, “We have been meaning to tell you all something very important.” You spoke softly, as you caught their attention. “First off, you guys know that umama and utata love y’all so much?”
They nodded their heads, “Well, after talking with one another we have decided that it is best that we separate.” You said, before watching their cheerful spirits quickly turn into tearful gazes. “I am also going to be moving deeper into the city of the Golden Tribe tomorrow morning.” You added.
Immediately you heard the shrieks of Zuko and Cebisa before they broke out into fits of tears.
Licking your lips as you held back your own tears you pulled Cebisa broken soul into your warm embrace.
“So, that’s it? Y’all are just gonna break up the family, don’t we have a say in this?!” You heard Mandla yell, as he swiftly got off of the bed before throwing his hands up in frustration.
Looking up at the tears streaming down his face he shouted, “I hate you guys!” before quickly storming out of the room.
Glancing over at M’Baku you saw his disturbed face as he cuddled Zuko into his brawny arms while he soaked his fur with tears. Nothing could compare to hearing your children cry over anything let alone you being the reason for their tears.
Cebisa cried so much that she started to getting hiccups as her body shook slightly from the amount of crying she was doing while Zuko got a headache from his weeping. An hour passed before they went to sleep in your bed after clenching tightly onto you after you steadily reassured that you were only checking up on their older brother.
Leaving M’Baku in your room you went on a small scavenger hunt to find your son. After not seeing him in his bedroom or the playroom you started to worry. Asking a guard where he went you found yourself walking to the secret cliff that overlooked the icy mountains and the rest of Wakanda.
You spotted his little body curled up as he observed the scenery before him. Walking slowly towards him you spoke, “Mandla, you know your utata and I really love you right?” before you sat on the snowy ground right next to him. “Yes.” He spoke, as tears started to roll off of his cheeks. Looking at your oldest face you pulled him into your tight embrace as he wrapped his arms around you before sobbing into your chest.
Your heart was now hanging onto a thread as tears of your own started falling. It pained you to see him crying. Mandla being the oldest always felt like he had to watch over his younger siblings and help be their rock and protector when y’all weren’t present. Now seeing your baby boy crumbling in your arms only made you regret making M’Baku sign those separation papers.
After calming him down you led him back into the kingdom and into your room where the rest of your kids were sleeping while M’Baku watched over them with a tearful gaze. The poor man was devastated as he just spent over an hour calming his children down from a six month mistake that he committed.
His eyes looking up at you once you came in the room he swiftly rose to his feet before he rushed over pulling Mandla inside of his arms.
“I’m so sorry, Mandla.” He apologized, as he rocked side to side with his son in his embrace.
Watching the scene before you, you took that as a chance to take a much needed shower to calm down your nerves. Returning you saw Mandla underneath your covers sleeping next to his siblings as M’Baku waited until you returned to leave.
“I was gonna leave until you came back.” He quickly explained, as he wanted to avoid another outburst from you. Nodding your head as you watched him place cheek kisses on his kids before he rose back up to his full height as he towered over your figure. He walked towards you placing a hand on your hip before he quickly placed a kiss on cheek before basically sprinting out of the room.
This nigga thought he was slick.
Deciding to not press the issue you slid in between your children before they simultaneously gravitated towards you as they now had skin to skin contact.
The next morning was just as dreadful. You woke up the morning and your children wouldn’t let go of you, as they refused to go to school, refused to eat any of their breakfast and sadly refused to go anywhere near M’Baku. They put two and two together and figured it was their father’s fault that you were leaving as they saw his many looks of guilt.
Furthermore, when it was time for you to leave they started with the waterworks. This time it was no calming them down as your promises and hugs didn’t phase them and went on deaf ears.
“Umama! No! Please stay!” They cried, as you gave them one last embrace before turning away. “Don’t do this! Umama!” They shouted, as they banged on the windows of the kingdom watching your figure get smaller as you walked in the snow.
Taking a breath, you wiped your tears away as you watched the guards load up your clothing into the mobile car. As you watched them you heard the loud crunching of the snow from behind you. Turning your body around you spotted M’Baku striding towards you. “Your really gonna do this, mnandi?”
Scoffing, you didn’t reply. “Don’t do this, usana. Take this out on me not our kids, nobusi.” He pleaded, as he firmly grabbed your hands into his large ones.
Looking down at your hands connected in disgust the Great Gorilla continued, “Please don’t do this! I’ll do anything you want, I’ll give you anything you want just please stay!” He hollered.
Wipping your head around you spoke, “You’ll give me everything I want expect for an honest man, please.” You spat, before you turned back to watching the guards load up your last bag.
“I said I’m sorry! What more will you ask of me?” He begged. Shaking your head, “I’m sorry you made this mistake, I’ll be back in a few days to take the kids.” You stated, before tugging your hand away from his as you walked towards the mobile transportation.
However, you didn’t take more than four whole steps before you were jerked back by M’Baku. He pulled at your hand before he quickly planted his lips on yours giving you a forceful kiss. Hearing him moan into the kiss damn near made your kness buckle as it caused you to press your lips against his wanting to hear another one escape from lips.
Your lips moved in perfect sync with his making you savor his taste once you felt his tongue enter your mouth. This time a weak moan escaped from you as you felt your mouth slightly open releasing the soft vibration. Nevertheless, as soon as the moan came out your brain started flashing images of the hotel in Paris as you saw remembered the girl on the floor, the broken wine bottle and M’Baku crying.
Snapping your eyes open you looked at the Great Gorilla before you in disgust again, before placing your hands on his chest forcefully pushing against his large body mass.
Confusion graced over his features, “You have to try harder than that to get me back.” You spat, before you walked over to the mobile car getting inside.
Immediately after you slammed the door shut and told the driver to step on it as you sunk into the passenger seat not once taking a glance at the broken chief outside.
Watching the car speed down the snowy road M’Baku fell to his knees before he started bawling his eyes out as he released an ugly sob.

Yours and Yours Alone
*PART 1*
Part 2 of 3: Yours and Yours Alone
Pairing: M’Baku x Reader
Length: 2.k + words
Warning: none.
A/N: Another one shot in my tripartite Hurt!M’Baku mini-series because I get off on hurting our favourite thicc daddy. This is not related to the first part, just think of this as M’Baku in another life - it seems he has no luck in the love department.
Tumblr media
It had been all been T’Challa’s idea.
It had all been T’Challa’s fault.
Along with opening Wakanda to the world, T’Challa had decided to pursue yet another initiative: fortify the African continent as a whole starting with creating socioeconomic alliances with the neighbouring countries of Wakanda.
M’Baku, having become somewhat of T’Challa’s right hand man, was declared leader of such an initiative that opened the Jabari lands to outsiders that were soon to become allies.
The head of five African countries and M’Baku met religiously to discuss, debate, concede and argue in the hopes of getting the alliance treaty signed by all members of the conclave.
The first time the six leaders all met, M’Baku gauged each of them, confident that all would go smoothly, that is before his eyes fell on her.
She marched into the conference hall with her head held high and a confidence that could not be shaken. As the only woman in the room, M’Baku knew she would either be white noise or the only voice he heard.
His heart hammered in his chest as she marched straight to her assigned seat and sat down before he could give the word to do so.
Rage ignited in M’Baku’s heart. How dare this woman march in his room and insult him in such a manner.
As a scowl made its way onto the Jabari leader’s face for in his heart he knew that this would not be the last of her attempts to set him ablaze.
Leader of Warunda, M’Baku soon found out who that woman was.
As the leader of a small country east of Wakanda known for its agriculture and craftsmanship, the woman carried herself with much pride and dignity. The harvest had not been plentiful this year; her people were hungry, her people were suffering, she had come into these negotiations with no plan to compromise.
She wanted it all.
The woman refused to give them her name, only answering only to chief. She continued to push each of his buttons throughout the entirety of the negotiation process as she taunted and argued over the very smallest details of the treaty.
Despite the fact that she drove him mad, M’Baku couldn’t help but be mesmerized each time she took a stand and defended her interests. However selfish they might be, she was passionate and she was real and she was raw and she was beautiful.
After a particularly tense session, she had cornered him. Like a prey falling in the grasp of a predator he had fallen hard, not being able to stop himself from inviting her to stay for dinner.
It was a wonderful occasion to change her mind on the treaty, to soften her up and bring her to accept his terms and finally to enable him to break the spell she had placed on him.
Such lies were long forgotten as her warm hand met his arm. M’Baku was dancing with the devil hoping and praying he would get burned within her flame.
He was nothing but ash when he led her to his chambers and felt her soft skin beneath his large hand.
When her lips met his, M’Baku swore she was pulling his soul out of his body and when his body met hers he swore he would let her keep it.
When he awoke she had left. With a part heart, his soul and nonetheless a two of his prized gold rings he had worn the previous day.
That woman, the daredevil.
M’Baku promised Hanuman he would unleash his anger on her the second he saw her again.
Hanuman forgave his servant for such a lie the second the thought erupted into the latter’s mind.
The next time the Jabari chief’s eyes fell upon hers, his breath hitched. The Warunda chief glowed particularly bright that day.
It might have been the reflection of the sun on the his rings she had attacked on a chain across her neck or it might have simply been that M’Baku was indeed going mad. Whichever one it was, M’Baku knew he would be obliged to ask her to dinner once more.
There was no more soul of his to be sucked out by her as the woman pushed M’Baku down on his bed so as the dawn broke, she settled with stealing his breath this time.
·
“You’re mine.”
It was in the way she moved, in the way she smiled, in the way her tongue weaved lies that would have a sane man go mad.
M’Baku almost dared question her, on the rare countless nights their caucus consisted of them and only them.
“Are you mine?”
The question never left his mouth. Who was he kidding. M’Baku might have been hers, but she belonged to no man.
No man, no woman, no one.
Not even herself.
She was a reckless wave of pure chaos locked into the body of a five foot four sun-kissed goddess. That woman made all in her midst combust for no reason whatsoever other than the fact that she could do just that.
His men could tell that he loved it when she marched all over him, and yet M’Baku would rather claim to be Wakabi’s lover than admit that fact out loud.
If such revelations were truly the only means to save his life, the Jabari tribe leader would say that he did indeed love it, because it was only then that he would have her near, that he would be able to smell the deathly sweet perfume he imagined she sprayed religiously on the base of her neck each time she came around.
He loved that he was hers.
He also loved the way his spear met hers on that wretched battlefield – with such force and passion, with such fire and desire.
She fought for Thanos, the creature who had managed to deceive her and her people.
“Stop this madness!”
M’Baku hoped his yells could be heard over the sounds of the battle raging around them ; by the way her face darkened and the power with which she struck him, the Jabari tribe leader was certain she had heard him loud and clear.
People, his people, fell to the right and left of him as extra-terrestrial beings swarmed the sacred Wakandan ground. M’Baku shook the grief away as he tried to focus on the battle that was before him – the key to his demise.
“You cease this!”
She was pleading with him, beckoning him to join her twisted cause, to drop arms and let her have her way with him, like she always did.
M’Baku stood strong, this time.
“Listen to me! This Thanos has fooled you into believing whatever nonsense he has been spewing. All that comes out of his mouth are lies, lies you hear me!”
M’Baku prayed Hanuman, Bast, whomever, that she would, for once in her life, heed his word.
“You’re the one who has been fooled, M’Baku!”
Sweat now trickled down his spine as she continued to meet his strong blows with her harsh ones. He admired her physical prowess and had to admit that she was a true beast on the battlefield.
M’Baku’s anger grew just then, he had hoped that one day they would both battle side by side and not one against the other.
“Listen to me!” M’Baku roared in desperation, “he will end us all!”
M’Baku could see for the first time angry tears fall upon the woman’s face as she faltered in her attack, “He promised us land, resources, he promised us more than poverty and strife!”
Spear to his side, M’Baku took her moment of hesitation as a chance to march closer towards her.
Before he could reach for her she was torn from his sight, shoved to the side by one of the alien beasts who, it seemed, had no sense of sides, their only goal being death.
A guttural scream made its way out of M’Baku’s mouth as his spear was raised, this time to pry the monster off of the woman who had captured much of his essence.
As the Jabari tribe leader struck the beast again and again, a sigh of relief escaped him as it let out a tone-deafening screech and fell still atop of the Warunda chief who managed, with great difficulty to push it off of her now mangled body.
M’Baku rushed down to her side, examining the damage that had been done. The alien monster had clawed and bit his way into the woman’s side leaving out in the open marred and bloodied flesh. There was no way she would survive this.
A small smile made its way onto the woman’s bloodied face as she left his eyes to gaze at the spear he had left to the grown when he had hastily kneeled down beside her.
M’Baku followed her gaze only to have his eyes harden.
“No.”
“You have to.”
M’Baku shook his head furiously, all the while attempting to disregard the hell raging around him.
She was right. She was always fucking right. There was no way she would survive this. There was no way he would survive this. Heeding to her word was the only way he could spare her of more pain, more hurt, more misery.
Tears skewed his vision as his hand left her wound and grabbed his spear.
“Like ripping off a bandage,” she encouraged him, her voice, for the first time, soft and gentle.
M’Baku closed his eyes shut.
They never even had a fighting chance.
Her small gasp of surprise forced him to open his eyes. He has plunged the spear straight into her body without a moment of hesitation. She would not have to suffer for much longer.
“Why would you make me do this?”
Each word was choked out harshly as though it pained him to utter them.
Her eyes were closed, M’Baku didn’t think she would reply.
“We wouldn’t have been that great anyways,” a small smile made its way on her face.
M’Baku grabbed her hand a little tighter, he could see bloodstains on her teeth.
The Jabari tribe let out a small sob.
“No. We would have been spectacular. Not even Hanuman could have stopped us.”
“A part of me is sorry,” she breathed in, “deep down I am sorry, M’Baku. I’m sorry for you – your heart is too big.”
M’Baku couldn’t believe than even in her dying moments she would mock him, and yet knew he shouldn’t be surprised.
“Trust me, you’ll just end up getting hurt,” the woman added letting out a small laugh before she let go of M’Baku’s hand.
It was his turn to let her go.
As he did just that, M’Baku couldn’t help but stumble at the weight that crushed his heart. He shook the grief away – There was a war to be fought and a land to die for.
·
He hated it.
No – he hated her.
The way she marched into his throne room and he hated how he knew he could do nothing about it.
He despised her with a passion.
He despised how he became putty in her hands, how he became enthralled with her very being and how he knew that would only lead to his destruction.
M’Baku could not help but crave that fire she sparked within.
He hated how they told him that she would betray him and that she would bring him nothing but harm because he knew that himself.
He didn’t need them to remind him that she was the key to his demise.
And so, he looked at her that last time she threw the door open to his conclave, all heads turning to see her strut towards him, a smirk on her face, eyes blazing.
M’Baku’s heart fell to his stomach for he knew in her sight he was nothing.
He supposed he was nothing in her sight.
He thought he was nothing in her sight.
He hoped he wasn’t nothing in her sight.
He knew he was nothing in her sight– he hated that too.
It was the last time she did so, look at him as though in her sight he was nothing, the sun reflecting his her rings she kept hanging around the chain on her neck.
For the next moment they would have together, he would be kneeling over her bleeding body while she, eyes still blazing, mocked him with her dying breath. He loved how he hated the fact that he would always be hers.
·
Voilà!
