El Insurgente Suburban Line Extended to Mexico City: All Project Details The agreement includes a mandatory portion of $88.4 million, which covers six trains to be delivered by 2027, along with an additional option for 19 units. The electric trains, designed to carry up to 550 passengers, will serve routes in the Małopolskie Voivodeship and neighboring regions. Special attention is given to accessibility for individuals with reduced mobility — the carriages will be equipped with ramps and designated areas for passengers with disabilities. The authorities of the Małopolskie Voivodeship have also announced their intention to purchase an additional 14 electric trains for $197.3 million. The financing for these acquisitions will also come from European sustainable development programs. It is expected that the renewal of the train fleet will increase the region's passenger traffic to 22 million people this year. Additionally, in May 2024, PKP Intercity selected Newag as the supplier of 35 diesel-electric trains following a tender held in December 2023. The contract is valued at $861 million, and the manufacturer will provide technical maintenance of the rolling stock for ten years after delivery. These deals strengthen Newag's position as a key player in the Polish rail transport market and contribute to the further development of the country's transport infrastructure.
