i made generation 3 style sprite sheets of the tympole line and a revamped gastly line inspired by pokémon rgby!

i also tested all of these to see if they work in-game, and they do! if you wanna use them for your own project, they're all up on dropbox. credit is appreciated.

Beasts of Kanto!

Really happy with how I was able to emulate marker on paper for these. Took me back to coloring in those old Pokémon coloring books as a kid. I also wanted to go back to Sugimori’s older designs for the mons. Something about the older Pokémon artwork just has such charm that’s missing these days.

Leaf's most powerful asset aside from her skills as a Pokémon Trainer is her overflowing charisma. Despite speaking so little, she's in fact an extrovert and manages to make friends wherever she goes!

Silver is far from the sort to openly show favor from the initial meeting, but the redhead does admit, albeit begrudgingly, he can appreciate someone who knows how to shut up. After he says this, Silver eyes Green for a few seconds.

And when Leaf goes on holiday in Galar, she accidentally captures the attention of the region's golden boy, Leon!

He's instantly charmed, reduced to a flustered mess of a man while attempting to make conversation with her. Gloria and Hop watch the scene from a conveniently placed shrub and the former wonders how she ever developed a crush on him as a child.

"Oh, he's dying out there..." But the two and an also observing Sonia are dying from secondhand embarrassment.

Even Big Bad Guzma finds himself standing up straighter in the presence of Battle Legend Leaf! For some reason beyond his understanding, he wants to leave a good first impression on her.

Happy 20th anniversary to my favorite PKMN character ever 💙✨. Wanted to draw her with my favorite of the Kanto starters!

I loved Leaf since the day she debuted and I cannot believe it’s been 20 years. The years after her debut were pretty rough prior to her inclusion in Smash (no anime appearance, no appearance in HGSS or SM, barely any merch…🥲) but I say she’s in a much better spot now, even if she’s still not quite given the same respect that Red and Green get. I’m still hoping for a Leaf nendoroid 🤞.

Safari Week is a shiny hunting event where you hunt in a Safari Zone! Finding a shiny is fun enough, now with the added thrill of the Pokémon potentially running away!!

Note: The Friend Safari in X and Y is not technically a Safari Zone, so while you can hunt there if you want, it’s not quite in the spirit of the event.

Bonus tips: Get a White Flute and a Pokemon that knows Illuminate at the front of your party (Chinchou, Lantern) and your encounters will be doubled! In the Hoenn Safari Zone, you can bunny hop on the Acro bike to avoid being kicked! In the Great Marsh, have a Pokemon who knows Sweet Scent to make encounters faster!
