Greetings from a cloudy Bar sur Aube, where it’s 7c at the moment. We are due a maximum of 10c so it’s not going to be that much warmer. It has rained a lot but we have had some high ish temperatures along with a weak sun but it’s the rain you remember especially when it’s a very heavy downpour and you are soaked!
I did smile when I saw the Drappier Champagne van at the Gendarmerie, the Drappier driver wasn’t delivering so I wonder if he had been speeding or worse still “drunk in charge of the champagne van”.
Anie messaged on Sunday afternoon to say could she come visit me, of course, I produced mince pies and coffee cake along with one of the new teas Monique had bought me for Xmas. She stayed for about an hour, it was enough really, I am finding it hard to concentrate on hearing French for longer than that. She always brings some gift and this time it was a small jar of the herb sariette and a jar of marmalade. I baked a batch of cheese scones yesterday, I added some sariette and herbes de Provence, they were really lovely.
Monique has been in touch keeping me up to date with her blood tests, appointments etc.
My fortnightly blood test was due and the nurse arrived promptly. The results are not coming back as quickly as previously but perhaps it’s the tests requested that make the results arrive later.
The plumber came to install the new boiler, amazing all finished in 3.5 hours! Oh the luxury have having lovely hot water “on tap”. You don’t miss something until it is taken away from you.
My grandchildren are with “The Photographer” this weekend and then it’s “the big adventure”, they are going to London from Monday to Thursday to go to the Zoo and the Natural History museum.
“The Ex-Graduate” will be starting her final week at the bar, where she worked part-time while studying and full time since her studying finished. She starts her new job in a couple of weeks so she will be given a new title on here too 😊.
“The Trainee Solicitor” is working his socks off and will be looking forward to a little break away from home for a few days. Next week will be busy at work as two staff members are on holiday but you can only do as much as you can do in the hours you are at work so just keep that in mind!
So let’s have a look at my music choices this week. I don’t know how I hadn’t thought of this one before now. I have no idea what makes a good guitarist I just know that some music just gets to you. Here is one of the guitar greats doing what he does best! The song was released in 1999 😳, it is “Smooth” by Santana featuring Rob Thomas. Well if that doesn’t get you moving I am not sure what will!
The second song is one that always makes me “feel good”, I want to get up and leap around. We go way back to 1970 for this hit from George Harrison, the song is “What is Life”. Enjoy listening to these tracks today.
So today was the day I had been looking forward to, the day of the visit to the gorgeous “La Belvedere” restaurant for lunch. I was disappointed when Maud messaged to say she had had bronchitis and was still coughing so thought it best to cancel the restaurant. Oh well until the next time 😉. I am going to make myself something “tasty” for lunch 🤞and if I get out of bed now, I may be able to prepare a super dessert too.
It was the knitting group on Friday and I must say we were a little depleted! The 92/93 year old lady is suffering with her back so was unable to attend. The newest member of the group had previously been into hospital for an operation and therefore didn’t arrive until about 4pm. Helene, a lady who suffers from some neurological problem couldn’t come as she was unwell and her husband (who brings her) was also unwell. It was just as well I had decided to go! I was only going to stay for a couple of hours and forego the cake and drink, however, I brought the “tarte” home with me and enjoyed it after my evening meal. We were discussing the best things to make to sell at the markets. It was suggested that we tried key fobs, I produced a pattern for some pendants and earrings and will photocopy the pattern to take back in a fortnight. The ladies were impressed with my little cardigan . It has been decided that from now on a receipt needs to be produced to show the cost of materials, I guess that puts paid to a refund for me, as the wool I have had for years, so no longer have the receipt. Oh well does it matter, it gets the wool used up 😊.
Now I am going to “put my best foot forward” (wish I knew which one it was 😂) .
I think this photo should be called “house on the hill”.
I wish you all a good week until next week.

Leaking Hot Water in Thorneside: A Growing Concern for Residents
Tumblr media
Thorneside, a serene suburb nestled in the Redland City area, is facing a pressing issue that has recently come to the forefront: leaking hot water systems. This seemingly minor inconvenience is causing significant disruptions for residents, raising concerns about safety, water conservation, and the cost of repairs.
Understanding the Issue
Leaking hot water in Thorneside systems are not uncommon, but their frequency and impact in Thorneside have been notable. A hot water system leak can occur for various reasons, including corrosion, excessive pressure, or faulty components. When these systems fail, they not only waste water but also pose risks of damage to property and, in some cases, personal injury.
The Extent of the Problem
In the past few months, local plumbers and emergency services have reported a spike in calls related to leaking hot water systems. John Harrison, a plumber with over 20 years of experience in Thorneside, noted, "We've seen a marked increase in hot water leaks recently. It’s becoming a significant issue for many households, and the main cause appears to be aging infrastructure."
The suburb’s water infrastructure, much of which was installed decades ago, is showing signs of wear and tear. As the pipes and tanks age, they become more susceptible to leaks and bursts, especially under the constant pressure of modern usage.
Impact on Residents
For many residents, a leaking hot water system is more than a minor annoyance. It's a disruption to daily life, leading to unexpected expenses and potential property damage. Sarah Mitchell, a Thorneside resident, shared her experience: "Our hot water system started leaking late at night. We woke up to a flooded laundry room and had to spend a considerable amount on emergency repairs and water damage restoration."
Besides the immediate inconvenience, there are long-term implications. Water wastage is a significant concern, especially in a country like Australia where water conservation is critical. A leaking system can waste hundreds of liters of water per day, adding to water bills and stressing the local water supply.
Addressing the Issue
Local authorities and plumbing experts are urging residents to take proactive measures. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of aging hot water systems can prevent leaks. "Preventive maintenance is key," says Harrison. "Homeowners should have their systems inspected regularly, especially if they are over ten years old."
The Redland City Council has also been proactive in addressing the issue. They have initiated a campaign to educate residents about the signs of potential hot water system failures and the importance of regular maintenance. Additionally, they are exploring options to provide subsidies or rebates for residents who replace old, inefficient systems with newer, more reliable models.
Looking Ahead
While the immediate focus is on managing the current spate of leaks, there is a broader conversation about the need for infrastructure upgrades in Thorneside. The local government is considering long-term investments in water system improvements to prevent similar issues in the future.
For now, the message to Thorneside residents is clear: stay vigilant, invest in regular maintenance, and be prepared to act swiftly at the first sign of a leak. By taking these steps, the community can mitigate the impact of leaking hot water systems and ensure a more secure and sustainable future.
In conclusion, while the leaking hot water systems in Thorneside present a challenge, they also offer an opportunity for the community to come together, invest in infrastructure, and prioritize water conservation. Through collective effort and proactive measures, Thorneside can navigate this issue and emerge stronger and more resilient.

Ohio Esports: Changing the Game for Students in the Valley
Tumblr media
Not too long ago, playing video games consisted of powering up your Atari, grabbing a joystick and shooting space aliens trying to attack your ship. Eventually, Nintendo came along and this process evolved into using two buttons to guide a plumber through harrowing lands in his quest to save the princess. If you were lucky, you had a second controller so your best friend could play. No groups. No internet. No headphones. In the years that followed, video games changed drastically, switching from side-scrolling quests to interactive, story-driven movies and contests. The advent of the internet allowed for online play, where gamers could compete against each other in different types of matches. It wasn’t long after that people discovered they could form leagues for competitive play. That’s when gaming competitions started popping up. StarCraft, Warcraft III, and, of course, Madden, seemed the most popular. Esports was born. And the state of Ohio loves it. Local high school students are now participating in Esports. In 2023, the Ohio High School Athletic Association officially partnered with Esports Ohio, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing an Esports league for high school students. While face-to-face video game competitions have been around since 1981, it wasn’t until 2000 that they fully evolved into the internet-based mass competitions we know today. These organized multiplayer competitions, played individually or by teams, grew tremendously since then; not only in participation but in the amount of media attention they received, mainly because the grand prize could go as high as $1 million. Seeing this opportunity, a group of educators formed Esports Ohio six years ago. At the start, they had 12 high school teams. This year, they have 803 rosters, 5,015 players and 294 schools. “We feel that we will continue to add more players in teams,” said Esports Ohio President Jacob Gebers. “We hope to have over 350 schools in the next 5 years.” The partnership has been a win-win for both organizations. Students who may not be interested in contact sports now have the opportunity to compete in an activity more suited to their interests. OSHAA can help the organization grow. “OHSAA has a long history of high school sports and have (sic) connections throughout the state,” Gebers said. “They are able to help promote to schools our league and what we can do while we can still control the logistics. We are also able to hand out OHSAA trophies to winning teams which is a fantastic accomplishment.” Gebers said Esports Ohio was founded to give students the ability to play other schools in Ohio and build upon existing rivalries. Video gaming obviously was important to the Esports Ohio founders. But why? Gebers said that despite the negative connotations video games often receive, the benefits of playing in a team setting can have a positive impact. “I am a gamer when I have the time. I really like the way it forces people to have teamwork and also giving an outlet for those that may not be involved in other activities. Learning how to work together with other students is a long-life lesson,” Gebers explaiend. “This also includes learning how to communicate efficiently as well as problem solving.” Now, games like Overwatch, Fortnite, League of Legends, Super Smash Brothers, chess, baseball and even Just Dance are in the mix. Locally, the sport is growing, with schools like St. John Central Academy, Belmont Harrison Career Center, Buckeye Local High School, Buckeye Trail High School, Caldwell High School, Cambridge High School, Conotton Valley High School and East Liverpool boasting programs, according to the Ohio Esports website. Tumblr media
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the Harrison family, known for their prominent role in the reality show "Pawn Stars," is grappling with the untimely death of Rick Harrison's eldest son, Adam. The shocking news came to light recently, revealing that Adam had succumbed to a fatal overdose. The family, devastated by the sudden loss, reportedly received the tragic information just today.
The Reality Star's Eldest Son, Who Kept a Low Profile, Succumbs to Unfortunate Circumstances
Details surrounding Adam's passing remain unclear at this time, as Las Vegas Metro PD has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. It is yet to be determined where Adam was exactly when the incident occurred, adding an air of mystery to the already somber situation. Adam, one of Rick's three boys, had largely stayed out of the limelight compared to his brother Corey, who has been actively involved in "Pawn Stars" since 2009. Although Adam had contributed to the family's World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in the past, he eventually took a step back to pursue his own endeavors, distancing himself from the show. Unlike his brother Corey, who became a familiar face to the show's audience, Adam never featured prominently in any episodes. Reports suggest that he had a brief stint helping out at the pawn shop but eventually chose a path away from the reality TV spotlight. Little is known about Adam's professional life, with some sources indicating that he may have worked as a plumber. However, the specifics of his occupation remain elusive.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Rick Harrison (@rick_harrison) Rick Harrison, the patriarch of the family, had two children, Corey and Adam, with his first wife, Kim. I just finished watching The Parent Trap and I forgot how much I loved it wow. Could you make an AU for that?
I love The Parent Trap, and once again, the Lindsey Lohan version is my favorite one, so it’ll be based on that one.
Characters
Mike — Hallie Parker
Ike — Annie James
Jack Kelly — Nicolas Parker
Katherine Plumber — Elizabeth James
Harrison Parker — Meredith Blake
Racetrack Higgins — Chessy
Spot Conlon — Martin
Medda Larkin — Marva Kulp Sr.
Smalls — Marva Kulp Jr.
Joseph Pulitzer — Charles James
William Snyder — Les Blake
This story begins at a summer camp in Maine, where Michael Kelly is hoping to make a few friends and have a good summer, though this means he’ll be away from his dad for the first time in his life, for a full month. He’s never been away from Jack like that before, and he’d never been out of California aside from when he was born in Santa Fe, but he manages to make some good friends right away only to find someone that must be his absolute worst enemy later that week.
Isaac Pulitzer is visiting Maine from New York City. His mother wants him to get better socialized because he is homeschooled and doesn’t have many friends. When he gets to this camp, his “manny”, Spot, drops him off and gives him their secret handshake before promising to pick him up the moment camp is over. Ike is not excited to be away from Spot or his mom, but he still goes in and makes a few friends, meeting what must be his nemesis during a fencing game and winning, before being pulled down into a trough of water.
The boys see each other for the first time after taking their helmets off and are stunned to find that they are staring at what looks like mirror images of themselves.
They deny looking like each other, and later that night, Mike decides to get back at Ike for beating him at fencing by taking on Ike at poker, a game he’s been playing with his dad for years. He wins after waging that the loser will have to jump into the lake naked. The whole camp, aside from the chaperones of course, watches Ike jump into the lake and Mike steals Ike’s clothes, leaving him to walk back to his cabin with nothing but his shoes.
The next afternoon when Mike is headed back to his cabin with his roommates, they find their furniture up on the roof, compliments of the Brooklyn brat that Mike is coming to despise. So that night, Mike and his friends break into Ike’s cabin to prank all of them, placing shaving cream, syrup, whipped cream, water balloons and booby traps everywhere.
When they go back in the morning to find Ike’s cabin freaking out, they end up getting caught by Medda and Smalls, the heads of the camp, and Mike and Ike are taken to the isolation cabin for the rest of the camp as punishment for causing such chaos.
That night when it starts raining, the boys accidentally see pictures of their parents and realize that their parents used to be together, when they were very young, leading them to the realization that they must be twins.
They go through the rest of the week, the boys do their best to get to know each other revealing that they both want to get to know their other parents. So for the rest of camp, the two plot to switch lives, figuring that even if they were found out, their parents would have to see each other again.
So once camp ends, Ike gets on a flight to California and Mike does a secret handshake with Spot and is taken down to New York City.
When Mike sees his mother for the first time he’s nearly frozen in place and all he can do after a moment is rush to hug her.
Katherine is a novelist, she’s written a few best selling series and she loves to let her son help her edit and write with her. She also loves to have her son help her come up with illustrations because he got his artistic ability from his dad.
When Ike meets Jack for the first time, he instantly finds that Jack is one of the goofiest people he ever met. Jack owns a winery and is very wealthy and they live on a vinyard. When Jack takes him home, Ike meets Race, one of Jack’s old foster brothers who is now somewhat of a live-in nanny and housekeeper, and their dog Riley, a large French Mastiff. Jack tells Race to help his boy unpack before bringing him down to meet somebody.
Race does, telling the kid that the somebody wasn’t someone Race himself was too fond of. He makes the boy his favorite snack and helps him unpack before sending Ike into the backyard to meet none other than Harrison Parker, a hood looking, conceited man who Ike is suspicious of from the start. So Ike tries to chase Harrison off after seeing how possessive and controlling Harrison is over Jack. When it doesn’t work, he tries to call Mike, only making Race suspicious of him.
The next day, when Jack takes Ike on a horseback ride, Jack reveals that Harrison proposed to him. So Ike rushes back to the house where Jack follows and tries to calm him down, only for the boy to start yelling at him in French. This shocks Jack as the only other language his son knows is Spanish. He lets it go when Ike says he learned it at camp and Jack just leaves for a moment to take a walk, while Race wonders out loud if the boy wasn’t who he said he was.
The boy asks if Race was wondering if he was Isaac. Race freezes and asks the boy how he knew that, prompting the kid to reveal that he is Isaac. Race is too stunned to reveal that to Jack when he comes in to talk to Race again and keeps it a secret.
When Mike tries to call Ike from New York after seeing an SOS fax in Spot’s hand, he is caught by his grandfather trying to call from a pay phone. So Joe encourages him to tell Katherine the truth, and Mike does, lying to his mother about having called his father and told him everything. Katherine is stunned and asks Spot to come with her to switch the twins back and get on with their lives.
When they arrive in California, Jack is only at the hotel they’re at because he’s trying to plan a wedding. Harrison’s uncle, Mr. Snyder is there to help them and Ike overhears them talking about taking all of Jack’s money.
Katherine gets drunk on the flight over and is hammered when she sees her boys together for the first time. Race and Spot end up hitting it off and sneaking away and the first time Jack sees Katherine again, he falls into the hotel pool, hitting his head and letting Katherine take care of him only for her to meet Harrison and reveal the fact that Mike is a twin. Harrison is not happy with the information, having planned on sending Mike to a boarding school once he and Jack were married.
Eventually, when Katherine tries to take Ike home, Mike and Ike refuse to tell their parents who is who and demand to go on Jack and Mike’s end of summer camping trip together. Jack and Katherine reluctantly agree.
When they go on the trip, it is revealed that Katherine encouraged Harrison to go instead of her and on this trip, Mike and Ike spend the entire time tormenting the man they can’t stand until Harrison tries to make Jack choose between him or his sons. Jack instantly chooses his son’s and goes home, asking Katherine out on a date.
The two eventually get married and Spot proposes Race at the reception.
I love this one.

Ohio Esports: Changing the Game
Blaire and Harrison’s mothers!
Cameron is a plumber. She wears her heart on her sleeve and she doesn’t believe in subtlety.
Zawadi is the CEO of a company (haven’t decided what kind of company). She’s a little aloof and stern, but she has a huge soft streak.

Near Seattle WA
Seattle, WA
youtube
I love Seattle, WA, because of so many reasons. First, I like the proximity to nature. Seattle is known as the Emerald City, which radiates nature and greenery that surrounds the city year-round. Second, there are plenty of opportunities for career growth. There’s an overflowing possibility especially for people who are techies. Third, I like the fact that there is no state income tax. It’s a huge deal because your salary won’t be lessened. For example, a 10% income tax would mean so much to be left out of your money. Fourth, Seattle is a safe city. I always feel safe and comfortable roaming around the city. Aside from all these, I have more reasons on my list too long to write everything.
South West Plumbing
At South West Plumbing, you can get the best plumbing services and drain and sewer and heating repair. The plumbing company closely monitors the coronavirus situation and follows the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidance to ensure that all employees and customers are safe. If you visit the office, you’ll notice the increase of the cleaning measures and the frequent disinfection. In-person company meetings are also suspended and employees take preventive measures like regular handwashing, social distancing, and staying home when not feeling well. South West Plumbing is a highly rated plumber in Seattle. Aside from providing an excellent quality of service, it offers financing options to save time and money. For service appointments, call 206-932-1777.
DNA Profile May Help Identify Unknown Green River Killer Victim
SEATTLE — The above composite profile, created through a recent DNA analysis, may be the key to identifying one of the last remaining unknown victims of the Green River Killer. Read more here
Two of the victims of the killers in Green River remain unidentified. So, the investigators hope that the DNA profile may help identify them. The recent DNA analysis can become the key to identify the unknown victims of the Green River Killer. Way back 2003, Gary Ridgway pleaded guilty for killing 48 women in the year 1980s to 1990s. Until now, there are still two unidentified victims. I’m glad the investigators are hopeful that the DNA profile may help identify the two girls. I really hope that this new data will help determine the two remaining victims. This killer is such a crazy man. He killed several women, so he deserved the punishment.
