For such a friendly looking place, there were a great number of dangers that could catch the unwise and uninitiated unwise off-guard. Fall down the wrong Warp Pipe? Who knows where you could pop up at! Go strolling in a field of flowers? You might find a Piranha Plant trying to take a bite at you for just about stepping on its stem...

‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎Or, if you're the hapless and unsuspecting sort, an ambush waiting on the roads to town just may be what's awaiting you. And by the sound of shrill screams peppering the road to Toad Town, that was precisely what today had in store for some unfortunate fellow! Lucky for them...

‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎Super Mario was already on the case! It hits the ear too familiarly, yet unfamiliar at the same time. Call it morbid, but he knew the shouts and wails of Toads quite well, and this holler was anything but the same timbre. In the same breath, he could hear the calls of Koopas not too far off in the distance. He didn't know the reason they were attacking, but move it, plumber! Things were only going to turn toward the uglier the longer you dawdled!

‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎A bounding leap punched red and blue décor to the sky, a silhouette framed by a blazing sun as a backdrop. That famed jump took its wielder into what felt like the atmosphere, only for the drop of brown boots to collide hard and fast with a turtle's shell once a body returned from orbit! Boot the shell off into the far-off distance, turn to the rest of the crowd, and roar!

‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎"Hey, you Koopa creeps! Get a hint and get outta here before-a Mario...!"

‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎...Cripes. Eyes focus up and acknowledge the scene instead of the sound. A Koopa Troopa is getting completely trounced, they're grabbed and hit with a gigaton punch straight into the sky, shining sparkle and all. The next is suplexed with reckless abandon, the in line shrieking in fear as it's headbutted into a line of three other fleeing turtles.

‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎Huh. A scratch to the side of the head as a cap was lifted slightly. Was he sure he was hearing the man's screams? Or was it their screams. Haven above.

‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎Steps start their approach as the 'fight' was finished faster than it had started, leaving the plumber with the handle of his trusty hammer stowed instead of brandished. Instead, a water bottle was produced as an offering... looked like they needed it, what with all of the sweat the chef-hatted harbinger of pain was accumulating. And it was held out at a... slight distance. Didn't want to get caught in that aggro storm, no sir.

WOW!!! We have an amazing episode for you this week, first up, thank you to our 1000 weekly listeners, you are amazing. At last, winter is here, and Professor and Buck are both totally enjoying it. DJ has brought us the controversy of the week, with wild claims of a new Indiana Jones, and the boys pile in on him. Once again we solve the world’s greatest issues with logic and careful consideration. We decide Chris Pratt is not suitable for taking on the role and also convince DJ that Indiana Jones is not a Marvel character yet; give Disney time and they will make it happen eventually I’m sure.

With a fabulous Segway into the next topic we look at Digit. Not the figures, the robot that will help deliver your shopping from the car to your door. Professor decides he wants one to carry the shopping from the door to the kitchen and then cook his food. DJ calls robots slaves, revealing his desire to take over the world. Buck and Professor decide that given the way technology has been moving they wish to become Cyborgs and serve the robot overlords. We align the killer drones, self-replicating robots, driverless cars and robot dogs.

Moving along before we get into too much trouble. We have a new CPU that is pushing the limits and is looks surprised at how amazing it is. AMD is back baby and challenging Intel once again. Buck and Professor fully geek out over what this means for building your own system. If you get confused and lost please let us know; we will get Professor to write up a translation for you. We also figure out how to turn your computer into an oven. We mean literally you will be able to cook your sausages and toast your marsh mellows.

Ridgefield resident, jazz musician David Watson shares his experiences, talent in film, with band

Find out how to get the best plumber in Vancouver Washington

RIDGEFIELD — David Watson is the kind of guy who calls his buddies “cats.”

Cats like Dizzy and Miles. Monk and Hawk. Nat and Frank. Watson met all those famous cats, he said, and played or sang with many of them. The one jazz legend he really wished he had met, but never did, was Ella Fitzgerald.

Watson was just a child, growing up with a singing father in a musical household, when he heard Fitzgerald’s peerlessly acrobatic scat singing. Scat singing means transforming your voice into something like a saxophone and bebopping your way all over a melody, just like an instrumental soloist. Fitzgerald’s famously fast, fearless, joyous jazz explorations inspired Watson’s own scat singing as he grew into the nickname he now wears proudly: “The Doctor of Bebop.”

Watson grew up in Philadelphia, served in the Army, returned and tended bar at the downtown Showboat Jazz Theater. It was the chance of a lifetime, he said, where he not only hobnobbed or jammed with all those jazz cats, he even stole some moments behind their drum kits.

Some of the greatest drummers on the planet — Max Roach, Art Blakey, Tony Williams — “Anybody who played at the Showboat, I played their drums during the daytime,” Watson confesses in a short interview film made last year by Steve Anchell for the Northwest Jazz and Blues Project.

“I have great, warm, wonderful memories of some of the greatest musicians. I got to hang with them. It was a wonderful life,” he said.

Love and art

Wonderful but hard, too. Watson will discuss his philosophy of overcoming racism with love and art when he appears as guest speaker after a film called “Soundtrack for a Revolution” screens Wednesday at Ridgefield’s Old Liberty Theater.

“Soundtrack for a Revolution” is all about the music of the civil rights movement. It features historical film footage and performances by talents such as John Legend, Ritchie Havens, the Roots and the Blind Boys of Alabama. This free screening is part of Meaningful Movies, a Seattle-based effort to bring social-justice documentary films and discussions to neighborhood venues. In Ridgefield, pediatrician and mom Megan Dudley started bringing Meaningful Movies to the Old Liberty in 2017.

“I’ve been through the whole civil rights thing,” Watson said. “I went through extreme segregation. What helped a lot of us was the arts. Music has always been on the forefront of change, in this country and all over the world. When things need to be changed, music is there.”

Watson is still busy singing for social justice, he said. A few weeks ago he sang at a Portland rally to ban the sale of assault rifles. Guns were still on his mind when The Columbian visited his home the day before Valentine’s Day — which was also the day before the anniversary of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.

“Gun culture is killing our kids,” Watson said. “It needs to stop. Those kids from that school, the ones protesting — I love those kids.”

Cats and good old boys

Back in the day, one of those friendly jazz cats encouraged Watson to step out from behind the bar and take up both the microphone and the drums for real. Watson has been a professional jazz musician ever since, he said. His career has taken him all around the nation, and he’s always had a spiritual sense that wherever he lands, that’s where he’s meant to be.

He met his wife, Sarah, and started various music-related nonprofit projects while living for 18 years in Sonoma, Calif.; then he and Sarah took refuge from burnout with eight years of “spiritual healing” in Hawaii, he said. But he continued flying to the mainland to perform and record, he said — and it was during a layover in Portland that he discovered the jazz club Jimmy Mak’s, and Portland’s thriving jazz scene.

Watson struck up a warm, working friendship with the owner of Jimmy Mak’s — who died in 2016 — and he and Sarah started exploring real estate in Portland. After they discovered Oregon’s income tax, though, they wound up north of the border, near downtown Ridgefield.

Watson said they had the strong impression that their arrival in Ridgefield doubled the local African-American population — from two to four. “I was wondering, why am I here?” Watson confessed.

Ridgefield supplied the answer. One day Watson took his car to Bob’s Auto Shop downtown, and “up popped this friendship” with shop owner Bob Ford, he said. Ford is not the kind of guy who goes by “cat.”

“He’s a good old boy,” Watson laughed.

What they have in common, Watson said, is service to local veterans and others through the auto shop’s resident American Legion post, which Watson, a veteran, joined.

Some of the post members “are real right-wing, and some are as liberal as I am,” he said. “None of that matters. These guys are real genuine about service. I don’t go for all the flag waving, but I love the service.”

The new guy

Now that he’s in his 80s and supposedly retired, Watson is “working all the time,” he said gratefully. Watch for his gigs with Rebirthing the Cool, an 11-piece band, at Clyde’s Prime Rib Restaurant in Portland, the ilani resort and casino in Clark County and Christo’s Pizzeria and Lounge in Salem, Ore. Rebirthing the Cool also has a concert scheduled for May 24 at the historic Old Church in Portland.

“I’ve got this 11-member band with some of the best players in Portland — and around here, I’m just the new guy,” Watson said. “For a guy my age to be doing what I’m doing, it’s really something.”

An Easy Way To Kill The Guardians

There is a certain mission where you have to get on an elevator to go to an underground mine to get an artifact and there are a few flying ghost guardian things. The best way to kill them is to shoot them with a corrosive weapon (preferably a smg) to get there shield down. Then a few bullets can kill them easy.

Easy Way To Get Money

In New Haven there is a claptrap injured by the bouty board. Fix him and he will open a gate that has a weapon crate. Inside the second weapon crate is up the stairs as you come through the front gate of new heaven jump on the washing machine and jump on the roof it is behind the dish the third is on the left side as you come through the gate search the area for stairs follow the path that leads to the rail jump over it and you will find the third crate around the corner. Once you fine all three crates collect all weapons from the and exit it will save then go back into the game then sell them at the shop it is preferred you are a high level for high level guns.

Rider Sniper Rifle

In New Haven, when you reach the quest ‘Another piece of the puzzle’. Don’t do any objectives on the mission or it wont work. Just South of Dr. Ned, there is a little blue house that can only be opened when you get to this certain mission. The floor will go down (its an elevator. ) When you reach the bottom, there will be four to five psychos. Kill them and then go to the red gun crate. The rider gun will be there. Note: It doesn’t have a scope, but it carries 20 rounds.

Killing Sledge

An easy way to kill Sledge is to:first open one of the 2 doors, then run to theinner door and open it (a video will come out)then as fast as you can get out ,then from outside open the doors and from outside start shooting Sledge (the doorswill close fast so hurry shooting him.)

Bosses

After you face Bonehead you can keep going back there beating over and over again for his rare weapon and same for the rest of the bosses.

Early Erdian Weapon

One character must be a Siren. Go back to Fyrestone in the Arid Badlands; and after you kill the Mothrakk a Eridian weapon will fall out but you have to search everywhere as the trash plot can be huge. When the Mothrakk is low on points shoot warning shots to get it to come towards you, then kill it on the approach.

Berserker: Eridian Cannon

Siren: Ball Blaster or Wave Blaster

The Secret Box In Old Haven

The first thing you want to do is get to the way back of old haven (East I think). Clear the open area and if you haven’t done the mission with the clap trap in the cage now is a good time. The box under the stairs is nothing. Go up the stairs and take a right but don’t go off the edge slide to the left back to your wall till you get to the end then turn around.

Insta-car Death

When you hit a barrel when your in your car, you usually get wouded until you kill an enemy.

Easy Krom Kill

All you have to do is clear out the first three or four level rock platforms. After that, make sure you have a strong sniper rifle and hide behind a building to the right. This is also a glitch because krom can’t shoot you but you can still take him down. Once him chair thingy blows up, go up there and put a hole in his hillbilly head!

An Easy Way Through Eridian Promotory

The Eridian promotory is probably the most annoying level in the game due to all of the enemies. An easy way to get through this level is to take cover whenever possible. As long as your not spotted the eridians and the lancers will just kill each other off, usually leaving one or two lances left. This makes your job a lot easier but be careful because the sera guardians will almost always spot you and warn the other gaurdians to attck you.

Easy Way To Kill A Sledge

(You need to have a super strong gun and you need to be a soldier. You also need to open the doors quickly and you need to put out the turret and then throw out all your grenades, then get back inside quickly. And keep on doing that till he dies.

Revolver Barrel

In the dahl headlands after you beat skagzilla you will have to search for revolver parts. The barrel was a little difficult to find but if you look at the cliff you will see a blown up vehicle and its in the cockpit. Also if you shoot skags in the mouth when open it does the most damage.

Easy Kill

When you kill whit a car you don’t get that much of experience. So weaken the enemy, the get out of the car and kill him yourself.
