Mizu

“The stars are out tonight?... I can barely see them… It’s okay. At least I can see you… You’re beautiful…”

At first, Mizu found you to be as annoying like Ringo. You weren’t as annoying, but it was infuriating to travel with someone who was so fragile and couldn’t even defend themselves. She was surprised that with your demeanor you weren’t in a brothel or married to the next idiot of a samurai. She kept you at a distance, arm's length. But someway. Somehow. You slithered into her good graces and touched her heart.

When you two became a couple, Mizu began to treat you like a porcelain doll. If a man tried to touch you, their hand would be severed from their body in seconds. If someone bad-mouthed you, their tongue was cut out. Suddenly, you found yourself becoming a precious jewel to Mizu instead of a nuisance. During down time, she always checks up on you to see if you’re okay. Expect her to check if you have a temperature, if you’re hungry or thirsty. She wished deep down she could give up her mission to live a perfect life with you because that’s what you deserve. But promising such a thing is hard. At least for now, she has you and she will savor the time you both have together.

Taigen

“That was pretty cool, huh? You know I can teach you a thing or two if you say please… Haha! You’re cute when you pout!”

Unlike Mizu, Taigen found you to be a breath of fresh air on his journey to assist Mizu. He enjoyed how you were so pure in a world that was getting colder by the day. For a second, he was fearful of pursuing anything with you because of his relation to Akemi. But as the days went by and word started spreading fast of his lover’s affairs, the more Taigen lost hope in any future he could have with her. However, he gained hope in a future painted for you two.

Taigen is a mix of a man child and an amazing boyfriend when you two become a couple. He will tease you whenever you are being cute unintentionally or when you mess up doing something. It’s only because he loves your reactions to his commentary. He will also teach you how to protect yourself, preferably with a dagger. If you master using one, he’ll have you use a sword, but even then he’ll be a bit concerned it’s too much for you. On the battlefield, if he’s not showing off and winking at you after every kill, he’s quick to protect you from any harm. Let’s admit it. Taigen can be a pain in the ass. But he’s a great boyfriend.

Ringo

“You really think I can be a great samurai?! Then I’m going to train hard for both of us- I’ll be the greatest samurai for me and you!”

Ringo is a sweetheart. He didn’t expect to go on this journey to end up with a girlfriend, so when he scored one with you, you can imagine his surprise. He didn’t think much at first admittedly, but the more you kissed his cheek, nuzzled into his body on cold nights and threw him words of endearment, the more it settled. And boy did he adore having the title of being your amazing boyfriend!

With someone now to take care of, Ringo pushes himself to be an amazing samurai. He’s more persistent with his master to teach him how to use a sword and possess honor. He’ll even go as far as to ask Taigen to assist him if he can! Whenever he learns something new, he’s excitedly telling you all about it. If he finds anything interesting, he’s grabbing you gently to share it with you. If you’re looking for a ball of sunshine who’s both your friend and partner, look no further than Ringo.

Ito Akemi

“My darling. We will make our own path, away from this prejudice, these men- Everything that’s ever hurt us. That’s ever hurt you… You will never be hurt again. I swear it.”

Akemi knows all too well how it feels to be used and thrown away for your body if not your status. So when she met you at the brothel, she immediately clicked with you. She found your personality to be contagious along with your laughter. She spent every moment staring into your eyes filled with life, gently caressing your smooth skin just to make sure you were still there with her in this hell. You were the most beautiful flower she’s ever seen. You were a flower she couldn’t afford to be tainted.

She didn’t know why she fell for a woman or if it was a curse, but she loved you. She loved you enough to run away and spend as much life as she could with you until she was found by her father. But even then, nothing could hold her down. She was a princess who laid eyes on a commoner she wanted. That she needed. And no one would get in her way of having them. Of having you. I'm only on here quickly because I am still swamped with work, but I have started writing again, so please don't fret.

I wanted to come on here and give some recommendations for some authors who truly put every fiber of their being into the writing they produce for us, and why I beg and plead you should support them.

I understand wanting to read quick smut, like some creators like I produce, but if you truly want to be immersed in a story and feel a myriad of emotions, here are my recommendations.

@cb97percent They truly are some of the most talented writers I have read in years, and this comes from an avid reader. Their ability to write a story with so much range and emotion is truly impeccable. They set up each scene perfectly, but at times allude to it, to the point that whenever I read their work, I'm truly entranced. I can still remember I believe last summer, I could be wrong because I forget timelines quite easily, that I was constantly refreshing her page to read Unprofessional. When I tell you it had me by the throat, from the first sentence I read, I knew that I had to consume all her work and I hope you guys enjoy it as well because she truly is ever so talented and deserves so much more recognition than she receives.

@straywrds Their ability to portray emotions through their writing is captivating. I can say with full certainty that I have enjoyed ever single one of their fics and series. I have come across several accounts where her fics make me bawl out and cry, my body borderline shuddering from the words on the page, but the sorrow and the pain is worth it. She truly captures the emotions of every character she writes, giving each one of them an extensive background. She makes you feel like you are truly in the story, feeling the reader's emotions every step of the way. Her writing is something I wish I could read again for the first time because it is truly impeccable.

@moonjxsung is another truly amazing writer, and I feel like everyone should check out at least one of her fics. From my perspective, she is truly an incredible writer and I have loved reading all of her works, especially her recent Bangchan fic.

@seospicybin She has some truly wonderful fics, and I have never in my life skipped past them. If you want something longer to bring you either a laugh, like her "Too Hot to Handle" series, or something that leaves you at the edge of your seat, confused about what's going to happen next, like her new "Roadtrip" series, I truly recommend reading her fics!!

@hyunjinspark is another author that I love beyond the end of the width. Both of her Hyunjin fics, although one has not been completed yet, are truly a story. It is like reading a book that just makes you want to never stop, never wanting to put it down. I don't know how I stumbled across her fics, but I'm ever so grateful to find them and immerse myself in them.

Again, this is not me saying that these are the best writers on skz-tumblr (I mean... they kinda are 😁) but if you really want to read something that's longer than 2k words of smut, I really recommend you check these beautiful people out because their work deserves an immense amount of praise.

Kiera Reed, upcoming superstar, the new it girl, multi Grammy Award winner…or so she wants to be. Realizing that the music industry has little to do with talent and a lot to do with status, Kiera is willing to do it all to give her music the recognition it deserves. Even if that means fake dating the stubborn, inconsiderate and undeniably arrogant football player, Ruben Dias. It is through lies, schemes and hurt that the "couple" comes to know each other. But through passion, love and sacrifice Kiera and Ruben go through lengths to help each other achieve their dreams.

Seventy pounds for a new set of braids was crazy, and that's besides the cost of hair extensions. That's why, no matter how much money Kiera was making as an artist, she would never become careless with her money. Especially when her cousin Angie could do it all, knotless, dreads, a wig, a weave. You name it, cousin Angie could do it.

"Did you say seventy quid for what, four bundles?"

"Yes Ang, and that's before adding the fee for washing and drying."

"That's crazy. These celebrity stylists need to be locked up for real."

"That's what I said!"

Their laughter rattled the walls of Kiera's hotel room. Kiera, seated on the floor while cousin Angie stood over her, finishing up Kiera's half braided scalp.

"Girl, hold still or we're going to be here for another hour." Kiera's head was pulled back to stop her from moving around so much. 

"Ouch. Careful Ang."

"Then hold still. Don't you need to be at the radio station at three?"

"And the studio at six. Please, no need to remind me." Kiera looked through the calendar on her phone. There were a lot of marked dots just for this weekend. Her manager and Odell must have seen it fitting to squeeze in as many appearances while they were still in Manchester. Kiera should have known that an Awards show was only the beginning to the longest seventy-two hours of her life.

"What time will you leave the studio?" Angie asked. "My friends from uni are looking to party."

"Hmm, can't say." Kiera swiped through her calendar again, checking today's agenda. Her studio session would keep her busy for at least four hours, and after the dinner reservation with Odell there wouldn't be much time to party. "I dunno, Ang there's this football game on Sunday and you know how Odell is. I can't be too hungover even if I'm just supposed to make an appearance."

"No, I get it. Would it be okay though, if my friends and I came around here when you and your hubby are out for dinner?"

Kiera chuckled. "Yeah, sure. Feel free to empty the mini bar."

"You read my mind."

The girls were back to mindless snickering, and once again Kieras head was tugged backwards.

"Ouch, Ang. Stop that."

"Hold still!"

Kiera had a minor headache by the time she arrived at the BBC radio station in Manchester. She was only scheduled to be on for the hour so chugging down a Panadol on the car ride there would have to do. Or so Kiera thought. 

She was scheduled for a smaller interview with the radio stations junior hosts, three young women and their poor sound technician who didn't look to be older than nineteen. With the four of them boxed in the room together there wasn't enough air to go around once Kiera arrived with her throbbing headache.

"Give it up for Kiera Reed everybody, Britain's upcoming superstar!" 

Kiera received a round of applause upon her arrival. 

"Thank you, that's more than a generous introduction."

She had yet come to terms with her many achievements these past months. The recognition she was receiving was humbling and a little intriguing. However, it was easier for her to talk about her music with her younger audience since they were the ones who inspired her the most.

"So tell us Kiera, how long have you and Ruben Dias' been dating?"

"What? Who?"

"Yeah, tell us," The girls chanted. "Don't be shy. We saw how the two of you were cozying up to each other yesterday at the EMA's. Come on, we want all the tea."

"I wasn't— Who the hell is Ruben Dias?" Kiera was bewildered by the accusations. Certainly because her boyfriend, Odell, would be listening in to the show. It dawned on her though that the giddy women were referring to the man at the award show from last night. The way he had…had… Kiera had yet found the correct words to reminisce about what happened at the event. She had felt anxious on stage, unable to present the award for the best new artist, when Ruben, her co-presenter lifted the burden of her shoulders by well…welll…

"Okay, I take it that the two of you are keeping things private." The girls rolled their eyes in annoyance. "But if we played a game of Fuck, Merry, Kill, where would Mr Ruben Dias place?"

"Pardon?" Kiera could feel the Pandanol evaporating from her body with the way her brain was pounding in her head. She expected to do a serious interview about her music and her career. But it seems like she was set up with yet another basement talk show, who thrived on solemnly speaking on celebrity gossip. Despite her disappointment Kiera knew better not to trash the vibe, and would do her best to play her part just like she was trained to do.

"Would you fuck, kill or merry Ruben Dias?"

Kiera cleared her throat. "Ruben Dias and…?"

The girls shifted their heads. "What do you mean?"

Kiera smiled, a fake smile, as if excited to please their needs for details on her private life. "Well…Ruben Dias and who else? Fuck, Merry and Kill usually includes more people to pick from, no?"

"Oh my god, yes! Of course." The girls were bouncing in their seats like young school girls. They put their heads together and whispered some names between them. 

While she was momentarily ignored Kiera glanced at the blushing sound technician and gestured towards her wrist for him to tell her how much time she had left on the show.

"Eh, fifteen minutes, Miss." 

"Thank you." 

"Okay, we've got it!" The girls exclaimed, having successfully assembled a trio of men for Kiera to fuck, merry and kill. "Ruben Dias, Central Cee and eh…Princess Kate Middleton."

"Right." Kiera sighed internally. But to get things over with. "Kill Central Cee, obviously. He's just a kid." They were actually around the same age, Central Cee and Kiera. But the gasping protests that followed her choice told Kiera to stand by it. Though, her next decision was a bit trickier, and rightfully controversial. "Fuck Kate Middleton."

"Really?" The girls were giggling, blushing and giggling to a point where their faces turned bright red. "You're such an icon for saying that. Princess Kate Middleton, really? I reckon she would be shit in bed."

"Emma?"

"What? She would be. Most Likely."

It was a dreadful fifteen minutes. The most dreadful fifteenth minutes in Kiera's twenty-five years of life. Was this really what she had to do to fulfill her dreams, a life of entertaining the public with her private life? She had started out singing in church somewhere in Erdington, Birmingham. When Kiera's dreams were solemnly her own. Now her dreams were being shared with the world. Torn by it. All in the name of live entertainment.

"What about Ruben Dias?" One of the girls asked.

"Oh, right." Kiera was brought back from her thoughts. "I'd marry him, I guess."

"So, the two of you are dating?"

"What, no. I have a boyfriend."

"Ruben Dias?"

"No, his name is Odell. He's my…."

The BBC Radio jingle shook the studio, startling only Kiera.

"Well folks, looks like that's all the time we have for today." The girls took to their microphones, a sudden professionalism in the way they went about. "That was a lovely game of fuck, merry and kill with none other than Britain's newest superstar, Kiera Reed! If you want to hear more from her you can catch her newest single, Pipe Dreams, right after this short break."

The girls got up from the table as the commercial played in the background. They thanked Keira for her participation and wished to have her back soon.

Not even an hour later a car was sent to Kiera's hotel to pick her up and take her to the studio where Odell and the producers were waiting.

"Hi babe, how was your day?"

"Awful." Kiera was glad to be swept up in her boyfriend's embrace, inhaling the smell of his fruitful aftershave.

"Awful? Didn't the Radio show go well?" She was tilted back in his arms, Odell tracing his thumb along Kiera's eyebrow. He possessed the loveliest pair of eyes, a mix of green and blue. Rare for someone of his complexion. She had really struck her luck being discovered by him. He was truly her partner in crime.

"No, didn't you listen in?" 

His guilty eyes told otherwise  "Sorry babe. I guess I missed it. But hey, listen to this sick beat that we've been working on."

What followed was a long studio session, stretching well into the night. Kiera was left with a sore throat after recording her vocals on over 20 tracks. And forget about the dinner reservations. By the time she and Odell got back to the hotel, all restaurants in town were closed.

"You sleep tight. I'll be back to pick you up in the morning."

"Can't you stay for a little bit?" He was truly a gentleman, her boyfriend. In the beginning of their relationship Kiera was told that it was because of their age gap, Odell being well into his thirties. That their relationship wouldn't look good in the eyes of the public. But as the love between them matured Odell eased up on his fear for public display of affection, even though he and Kiera had yet spent a night together, their similar religious upbringing preventing them to.

"I'll be back first thing in the morning." He assured, allowing himself to kiss Kiera good night. She fell asleep, dreaming of that kiss, that and other things involving Odell's lips roaming her body. She had never desired a man as much as she desired him, even though they both agreed to save themselves until marriage. However, Kiera wouldn't mind breaking a few religious rules, not if it was done in the name of true love.

The next morning was as hectic as the previous. Despite her drunken rampage with her uni friends, Kiera's cousin Angie showed up at the hotel just in time to do Kiera's makeup ahead of today's appearances.

"Since when do you watch football?" Cousin Angie asked, amused to hear that Kiera was personally invited to watch the fixture between Everton and Manchester City. Angie herself had never witnessed a game, despite having spent three years living in the heart of football legacy, Manchester City.

"It's Odell." Kiera sighed. "He really wants to go, but I don't know. We received the call after the EMA's by some publicist on one of the teams. I think they're only doing it because they feel sorry for what happened."

"You mean how you got all choked up on stage." Angie chuckled. "Yeah, trust me, we all felt sorry for you."

"I didn't choke up." Kiera snapped. Her protests earned her a slap by a makeup brush.

"Will you relax? I was joking." Angie brushed off the excess powder on Kiera's cheek. "People could barely tell how nervous you were."

"You really think so?"

"Yes. I only know because you told me. Besides, what really got people talking was you with that man's lips in your ears."

"Oh, will you shut up about that."

Angie laughed as she dodge Kiera's swinging arms. "No, but seriously. What did he say to you?"

"Who, Ruben?" Kiera's arms stopped swinging.

"Ruben is he? So you know him by name now."

"Shut up. I won't tell you what he said if you don't." It was becoming annoying, her cousin Angie, another person to remind Kiera of how a man, a complete stranger, had to come to her rescue during the most humiliating night of her life.

"Okay, okay, I'll stop." Angie assured. "Now tell me what he said."

"Fine." Kiera sighed, reminiscing on what it felt like, having someone as tall as Ruben towering over her like a guard on duty. It was embarrassing to say that Kiera's desire for Odell had momentarily been mixed up with the events of that night. While she adored her boyfriend's lips on her body, Kiera's fantasies were getting invaded by the sensation of a gentle caress, just below her earlobe. Ruben's lips, whispering such sweet endeavors to a woman he just met. "You did good." Kiera muttered, the words barley audible in the silence of the hotel room.

"Come again?" Angie frowned.

"I said, you did good."

"Who?"

"Not who, me. Or at least that's what he said."

"Who, Ruben?"

Kiera bit her lip, nodding her head.

"Ruben Dias? The Ruben Dias whispered the words — you did good."

"Kiera." She shyly added .

"I don't have—" Heat rose to Kiera's pampered face. "I barely know Ruben. Sure I'll see him today at the game, but I'll be there with Odell, my boyfriend, to relieve your memory loss." Kiera withheld the fact that after learning her rescuer's full name at the radio show, she had spent the rest of that lonely evening googling her knight in shiny armour. Of course, leaving her terribly guilty for reliving the humiliating events of that Award show, purly in the hopes of putting a face on the voice that still raised the hairs on the back of her neck. It happened just at the thought of his lips in her ear. A thought that had occurred more than once since it happened.

"I dunno Keke." Said Angie, unable to talk and do makeup at the same time. "After your little radio show yesterday and the fact that you're seeing him again today, the universe really seems to want you and this guy to reunite, you know, to keep the flame he lit alive."

"What flame? You're delusional." Kiera said bitterly. "Now finish my makeup or I'll tell aunt Tamika that you're failing uni." To this she earned a laugh from her favorite cousin. It was pure luck that the EMA's happened to be in Manchester this year. Usually the two of them wouldn't have had a chance to get together until the holiday's, at least not now when Kiera's career was really taking off.

notes: one of my favourite fics ever on god. started my brainrot for dad!husk, portrays one of the most scrumptious radiostatic dynamics and is generally so very well written that i might end up trying to recreate one of the scenes in comic form. genuinely in love with this fic and im so glad i can say i was the first comment on this fic because my God its such a treat to see new chapters drop for this. unfortunately i havent had the time to write out a detailed comment as of now but if someone wants to let the author know that im still in love with their fic and will continue supporting it until i drop dead go ahead for me

notes: the prequel and main fic of this series is human radiostatic, though the sequel is set in hell. it comes with gorgeous gorgeous art and frankly one of the most exhilirating endings ive ever had the pleasure of witnessing play out. i recommend you guys check out their other fics too, the art continues in them + their radiostatic is written wonderfully across all universes!

notes: this fic is very self indulgent to me. i love the way radiostatic is written in this one because theyre very soft and sweet, but others may not prefer it if theyre looking for freak4freak radiostatic. if you just want something to indulge in and relax with at the end of a heavy day though this is my #1 rec. i read this sometimes when i find myself crying at night lmao

notes: made me sob like a baby. 10/10 no notes whatsoever read it for yourself because you WILL not regret it. i genuinely am always at a loss for words whenever i reread this because it is among the most gutwrenching but beautiful and poetic works that ive ever read and i think it deserves some recognition

notes: again, to reiterate, i do very much dislike the abusive!staticmoth portrayal i see in a lot of fics. but in this one... it's written so perfectly, i can definitely see it actually happening. i enjoy the way that val does still seem to care about vox, albeit in his own twisted way that eventually breaks and fractures their love and trust, and its just. Ugh. So fucking good

notes: this one is like those time regression manhwas. you know, the ones where the protag goes back in time and proceeds to try and avoid everyone who made their life miserable- only to fail because for some reason now they're paying attention to them more than they would have had they stayed the same person. its certainly very promising, though! i do love indulging in time regression stories, especially when the mc is someone i love like vox. i really cant wait to see which direction this one is headed in :)

Posting Guide

As hard as it is to believe, we are here: the opening of the Jaime x Brienne 2024 Fic Exchange collection! I know, I know, it feels like prompts went out yesterday. But it's okay if you aren't quite done yet--the posting window is two weeks, so there's still time!

However, if you do know you cannot complete a fic please reach out to me as soon as possible so a knight writer can be arranged. Life happens and there’s no shame in needing a little help.

Now with the collection opening soon, here’s some FAQ on posting!

How does posting work?

There are two options: (1) Go to the collection here, and in the top right there will be a ‘Post to Collection’ button (2) Upload your fic to ao3 as usual, and make sure you enter JaimeBrienneFicExchange2024 in the collection field. From here, the process is the same. Fill in the relevant details and ensure you put your recipient’s AO3 name in the ‘Gift this work to’ field. Double check your original prompt to ensure you have the correct name. A few people have different tumblr/AO3 names and we don’t want any fics to go astray. If you’ve already made an AO3 draft before the today, make sure you add it to the collection and put in your recipient’s username in the fields mentioned above, and make sure you change the date when posting (or your fic will be buried). Be aware it can cause some shenanigans where the fic may not appear at the top of the page.  After that, it’s as simple as clicking post! Your fic will be submitted to the exchange and automatically be made anonymous. 

I can see my name, something went wrong!

Deep breath. As the author, when you open your own fic (posted or in a draft), it will say ‘Anonymous [YourUsername]’, but to other users it will simply say ‘Anonymous’. If that is not how it appears, double check that it is added to the correct collection and reach out if you still have a problem. Author’s names will not be revealed until October 7th, when I click the button to reveal them. Feel free to reply to comments during that week. As long as you are logged into the account that posted the fic, all of your comments will also be anonymised. 

What about Lil’ Oathkeepers?

I’m glad you asked, imaginary exchange participant that’s totally not me talking to myself! A Lil’ Oathkeeper is a gift that can be any size and shape. It can be art! A video edit! A moodboard! A fic shorter than 1000 words! Or… a fic longer than a 1000 words, but you probably know that. Anyone (you don’t even have to be signed up to the exchange) can make and gift a Lil’ Oathkeeper. I’ll be releasing the prompt spreadsheet and posting instructions once all gifts are posted.

Can I thank my beta in the notes of my story?

Absolutely you can! The betas of the fandom work HARD, they definitely deserve recognition. Just be mindful of including anything in your notes that might reveal who you are. You could choose to name your beta, or just thank them generally and add their name after authors have been revealed.

What if I don’t receive a story?

Everyone gets a story. Authors have until September 30th to post a complete fic, so chances are they just haven’t posted yet. It also might be because your fic needed a knight writer to write it. If this is the case, know that your knight is probably working very diligently to complete it, but might not be able to complete it within the posting window. If it looks like your fic will be significantly delayed (like until after authors are revealed) we will contact you directly to let you know what’s up.

What’s the etiquette around thanking my author? 

It can be hard to know what to say when you get a gift fic. Maybe it takes the prompts somewhere you hadn't imagined, or maybe you love it so much high-pitched pterodactyl noises are all you can manage. Maybe it's both. But it is good manners to leave a kudos and a comment. It doesn't have to be a long comment, and length does not equal love, but your author worked hard and deserves to have that effort recognised. And if you don't quite have time to read your gift right now? Please pop in and say so if you can!

Can I promote my story?

Please don’t do this until authors have been revealed through the collection. Once they have, go wild!

Can I rec my gift story?

Absolutely! Share the love! You can choose to rec it while it’s still anonymous, or wait until the authors are revealed. It’s up to you.

Samuel wonders whether it's a curse or bad karma that he's with you.

You bounce into his office in a cloud of pink (and an impeccably cut suit) hellbent on trying to ruin his day.

"Sammy baby, wanna go for lunch?" You perch on his desk, annoyingly sitting on some of the important documents he is currently trying to review.

"Y/N, it's 10am. And how many times must I tell you to call me Samuel in the office," he roughly pushes you off.

"Fine be like that Mr. Important Boss Man. I have stuff to do too!"

"Then go do it."

.

"Mr. Seo? There's an urgent call on line 2 for you."

"Put it through."

"Sammy~ Cmon lets go for lunch."

"It's-" Samuel checks his watch, "10:30."

"Brunch then!"

He hangs up.

.

"Mr. Seo, Y/N is calling again. Shall I put them through?"

"Please ignore all calls from Y/N in the next couple hours."

"Of course, I'll tell them you're in a meeting."

You knock on his office door but receive no response. Slowly, you open it and poke your head around to see Samuel deep into his work. And blatantly ignoring you. Meeting, your ass.

"Samuel. Please."

No reaction.

"I'm really hungry!"

Nothing.

"I promise I'll leave you alone if we go now,"

Finally, his eyes meet yours accompanied with a single raised eyebrow.

"Until at least 5!"

Samuel leans back in his chair, crossing his arms. He gives you his full attention. Hours of peace from you does sound like a decent deal. Why he couldn't get that in the first place, he doesn't know.

"I swear you won't hear a peep from me until the end of the day," you mime zipping your lips and throwing away the key.

Samuel eyes the paperwork that covers his desk and the unread emails notification; he considers your face, excited and smiling. He resigns himself to his fate.

"Fine."

Samuel finds himself at a small, local hole-in-the-wall. You had eclectic taste at the best of times, but even this seemed a bit too... rustic for your taste.

As soon as you are seated, you nod your head towards to a quiet corner table, where a group of men are talking in hushed voices.

"Hey Sammy, that guy over there - he's the head you wanted to meet with right?"

You pass Samuel your compact mirror so he could discreetly check behind him. You notice his eyes widening and the spark of recognition.

"Did you know he was going to be here?!"

"Well I am hungry too... But why else did you think I wanted grab some food! And in this dump too!"

Samuel clenches his jaw in annoyance, exasperated at your antics yet again. You have undeniably good instinct and showed utmost loyalty to him, but your method left a lot to be desired. He quickly stands up to go over and introduce himself when-

"Hey!" you pout at him, "Don't I deserve a little something?" and tap twice at your puckered lips.

Even with everything, you always manage to draw as much amusement as you do ire. Samuel kisses you and murmurs a thanks before rushing off.

So. I mentioned in the tags of one of my first posts back that I had to announce a few things that'd probably lose me some followers, but like I don't blame anyone if you do skedaddle because I know most of you are here for the monkie (totally understandable tho)

That being said I am no longer hyperfixated on jttw/Sun Wukong and that likely won't happen again for a while cause main the thing that caused me to clock out for so long kinda left a bad taste in my brain. However I will eventually come back to it. I can guarantee that. It just won't be for a hot minute (maybe who knows I can't control my brain lol)

As for the 10 billion asks I have in my inbox rn I'll be taking screen shots of the ones that have to do with monkie and such and putting them in a folder so that when I DO get back into jttw I'll just immediately start with those. So yeah if you sent me a really long ask FEAR NOT!😃 for I refuse to get rid of any of them 🥰

With that information tho, I never really intended for this to be just a monkie blog that's just what my hyperfixation had been on since I started. But I also tried to force that hyperfixation to stay way longer than I should have so that I could keep making content that my followers would like which is a part of the reason why I needed a break for so long. I wore myself out, and I needed to convince myself that it was okay for me to make content that makes me happy too. 😌

Tho unfortunately that does mean all my current projects will be on hold and I'll be updating the titles on ao3 soon to On Hiatus. 😔

I ofc will still gladly interact with/absorb any art or writings inspired by or dedicated to my works even if they aren't something I'm currently fixated on because effort deserves recognition and I love seeing ya'lls stuff more than anything. 🥰 Same goes for any submissions with art or edits/videos.

Also I did finish my Triad AU Sun Wukong character sheet like... forever go and just forgot to post it. 😬 (I KNOW I'M SORRY! 😭) SO I'll be posting that soon once I'm done moving everything around and making things more manageable and ✨️aesthetic✨️ on the blog.

So I've had this blog a very long time- since Ilkka was still a radio journalist. I was a huge fan of Alan Wake when it first came out and I was sorely disappointed fandom was basically nonexistent at the time. So I did my own thing- created gif sets, photo sets, wrote fanfic. There were maybe 5 of us on tumblr. I created this blog because there was not much on Ilkka himself out there that wasn't in Finnish and I thought the man deserved some clout. I'd check on it every once in a while but eventually I moved on from Tumblr. When I heard about Alan Wake 2 I was so excited. I couldn't believe they were making a new game. Especially considering how American Nightmare went for them. I expected fandom to be the same. Small or nonexistent again. Then suddenly I was getting notifications that people were following this blog again. That people were reading the fanfic I had on AO3. When I finally logged in to check what was going on in this sphere I was shocked to see that fandom was an actual fandom. People loved my boys! What I guess I'm saying is I am so glad that Alan Wake and the remedy team are finally getting all the recognition they deserve. This was the fandom I wish we had in 2010. I'm so pleased.

(Secret confession: unlike in my early 20s I do not have the time to game like I did so I haven't had time to play Alan Wake 2 but I am very excited to do so!)

Okay, since ive been getting a lot of love for my ary lately, id like to give you guys some top ary blogs ive followed for years, that i feel they dont get enough love.

Keep in mind that these are not in order from best to least, just in numbered order to make things easy.

(Another thing! While i may have found the majority of these blogs from undertale content, i need you to understand that a lot of these either dont do undertale art as frequently as they used to, or not at all. So please dont go in expecting that these are all undertale blogs based on MY intrests. Thank you.)

1. @springbon-t-art /@thecoolerspringbon-t has WONDERFUL roundhouse like style, and her fanart and characters range from all over(cuphead and bendy and the ink machine are just two examples, she has so much more unrecognized works and animatics on youtube that i think deserves much more love)

2. @twitchydoodle i havent visted this wonderful blog in a while, but i have followed for a good time(lets just say for a few years lol) so i cant say for sure what art is posted there at this moment, HOWEVER, i CAN say that twitchy has a Breathtaking art style, and has some of the most interesting and fleshed out ocs!!! Definitely check em out!

3. @calcium-cat i know cals been gettin a little bit more attention over the last year or so, but i still think she deserves much more recognition for her art. She has wonderful and thought out fanfics, not to mention the funny and well drawn fanart she posts for them!

4. @glitchysquidd I dont pop in as often as i used to, but glitchy's blog is one ive looked up to for a while. Here you can find very well written fnaf fics and fanart, chill energ(not to mention hilarious shenanigans),and a very unique and distinct artstyle.(seriously broski ive used your art for reference so many time 😭🤚🏽-). I suggest you guys head down to the basement and enjoy the tour.

5. @meatygutsy oh gee where do i even start- this blog has some of the most unique and well thought out ocs i think ive seen in a very long time. The artstyle here and style of coloring and shading is like nothing else. All of the colors pop and go together just right, not to mention the well fleshed out backstorys of each character.

6.@glaucus22 while this blog certainly isnt as active as it used to be, this is yet another artist that ive used as reference for countless times. They have a very distinct artstyle, and put much thought into their characters and their lore. I highly recommend going through the art tags here and taking a peek, along with a reblog or two!!!

7. @ijustwannahavefunn another blog with VERY well thought out and styled ocs, and a to die for artstyle. I also recommend checkjng out their youtube channel, which has VERY smooth animations and animatics. Definitely a hidden gem.

8. @vrnicky is a very good friend of mine that is WAY WAY WAY too unrecognized. They dont get NEARLY enough love for the anount of love and hard work they out into their characters and art. Please show em some love for me!!!

9. @loupy-mongoose is a favorite pokemon ary blog of mine. While you might find mostly mewtwo and mew stuff, please know that this is because of this creators mewtwo comic. You may know what im takling about if you know about similar more popular blogs (@/xxtc-96xx @/mewtwoandme and more ) but what separates this blog from many others is their very very different story, and an artstyle that'll put you at ease. Not to mention unique and well thought out mew and mewtwo designs.

And lastly, for now at least ,10. @whiteartblood an art blog that i havent visted in a couple months. This creator has some of the best undertale art i swear. One of my favorite styles!! A very lovely and instantly recognizable artstyle(that again, i have used for reference...i dont even know how many times), and even better ocs.

Now i know there are so many more blogs that are deserving of recognition, but its late and i cant look up 50 usernames at the moment.

However, while you are not obligated to, I sincerely hope you go show these guys some love(and reblogs!!!!!!!) For me. These guys have been a very big influence on my art, artists ive looked up to for YEARS now, and luckly for me some of them even being friends of mine, which im so very thankful for.

Ill definitely be making another post like this, with more writing inclusion and even more deeply hidden gems that require some digging.

It sure was Flootz's! Love Is a Sacrament, and god that's another I've reread several times because I just LOVE the dynamic at play there. It also hits so many of my "interests", so to say, and truly is such a good showing for that ship. I also love that even though it's a modern AU, they're still written exactly the same, just with the added bonus of actually being married.

And y e s I can definitely see that! I need BJ to confront the parts of himself he doesn't want to acknowledge the existence of, please and thanks. I know there have got to be things he represses and ignores, and I'm sure Sidney can tell too, but BJ never lets him get close enough to figure out what those things are. But BJ babygirl sometimes you have to talk it out! And truly if you wrote more fics of them I would read every single one.

I could definitely tell something was up in that scene in Eye for a Tooth too, Margaret may get fed up with these boys but she's not outright cruel or vengeful. I was so interested to see where it was going, and BJ's reaction did not disappoint. Admittedly I don't really ship them however I absolutely respect that rarepair, and even platonically I can sooo appreciate that care and softness he showed her! It was all acting and she was in on the plan but it's still so clear that BJ wanted to make absolutely certain she was okay the whole time and god just what a man. Everything he does is underscored with so much love and I love the little moments we can see it like that hand hold and check in!

As for Mulcahy, I definitely see your point about the wanting recognition vs the Catholic teaching of selfless help. I also thought it was interesting that the immediate next episode was Dear Sis, where we see Mulcahy struggling again with feeling useless and unrecognized in the unit. I loved Hawkeye's talk with him and trying to show him he was wanted, I think he really deserved that. And as a former Catholic myself, I find the idea of the dismantling of a belief system you've followed your entire life soooo interesting. And the fact that Mulcahy has managed to hold onto his beliefs for so much of the war tells me that any questioning he does would be painful and long-felt, and that just makes it even better. Any introspection with him would be fascinating and would take so long to dive into, like you said, but damn it if I'm not having some thoughts of my own.

(God bless the MASH writers who decided to give us shower scenes in literally any of the episodes they appear in. Also that chopper pilot is correct, because I too want to blow Mulcahy's back out. I think he deserves it.)

And P.S. please don't apologize for the length or rambling! As you can see, I'm fully able to match your energy in that regard. I love getting the peeks into other peoples' minds like this and also writing obnoxious character studies in tumblr ask boxes. So ramble away!

It's always interesting to see what transposes well into a modern verse and what doesn't carry through, right? I respect authors that can make it work for them so easily because I struggle sometimes to really manifest ideas of what would be the modern equivalent of being trapped in a very small area with a very small group of people to essentially evolve the characters into the ones we come to know and love. Like, they are not the same people when they get there as the ones who leave, and the majority of the reason they become who they are is due to the stress, the constant psychic damage of it all.

I realize ofc this is the autism of it all, really, me making things overly complicated for myself as an author 😂 But it's fine

That being said, justalittlegreen did it in a way I really enjoyed with her "A Full, Rich Day," which is BJ/Hawk/Trap and setting them in a modern verse where they're all in residency together, and having the frantic and sometimes incredibly heavy/grief-stricken moments really pulled it all together for me in a way that just hit. So I'm always turning thoughts like that over and over in my head to figure out what might finally inspire me to possibly try something similar one day in my own work.

(also please, don't worry, you don't have to tell me you don't ship BJ and Margaret. I am the captain of their canoe with roughly four other individuals as passengers, just paddling our way through the ocean. I assume that no one else ships them, trust me 😂 )

If you're not careful, though, you're gonna get me talking about just the sheer husband-coded nature of BJ and how he is constantly looking for ways to microdose on that aspect of himself while being so far away from Peg. It kills me. Man is out here carrying Margaret around any chance he gets, being so respectfully tactile with the nurses—a hand on the shoulder or the arm—his instinct to check in on them when he can tell something's wrong. Like, YES, so much of it is that he is genuinely an incredibly good man, but it's such an interesting part of his character to me, how often he'll go out of his way to do these things and genuinely seeming to get a degree of personal fulfillment out of it, bless his heart.

I am fighting tooth and nail to hold Mulcahy back in my brain right now. Lovely, sweet man, genuinely misguided in many circumstances, fully aware of a lot of the pain that he brings by nature of being a Catholic priest (I have a lot of thoughts about it regarding the S8 episode "Yessir, That's Our Baby" that are always trying to bubble over, so lemme know if you have some yourself when you get there haha) and yet still so keen on his mission all the same, whether it's compassion or conversion. And Dear Sis, fucking Christ, what a whammy of an episode. That conversation between him and Hawk in it lives rent free in my head. God. Did you know this is a good show? /lh

Kiera Reed, upcoming superstar, the new it girl, multi Grammy Award winner…or so she wants to be. Realizing that the music industry has little to do with talent and a lot to do with status, Kiera is willing to do it all to give her music the recognition it deserves. Even if that means fake dating the stubborn, inconsiderate and undeniably arrogant football player, Ruben Dias. It is through lies, schemes and hurt that the "couple" comes to know each other. But through passion, love and sacrifice Kiera and Ruben go through lengths to help each other achieve their dreams.

"Oh, for fuck sakes." 

Kiera should have known not to resort to something as stupid and conspiratorial as crossing her fingers. It had brought her no luck thus far, the EMA's snubbing her of yet another category that she was nominated in. All that was left was the award for the best new artist and that couldn't possibly be Kiera, after she was ironically asked to present the award tonight. Handing it out to herself would simply look stupid.

"Are you ready?" A voice spoke from behind. Odell, Kiera's lover and partner in crime in this blasphemous music industry, had returned backstage to check on her.

"Yeah, I'm alright." She said, a microphone resting in her hands.

"Hey?" The bitterness in her voice had not gone unnoticed. "You'll get them next time." He assured, placing a hand on the hollowed back of Kiera's dress, his fingertips caressing her skin. "With this new record we got coming out next year, you'll be topping every fucking chart in the world. Everyone is gonna want a piece of Kiera Reed."

"You really think so?"

"Trust me baby, I'll make sure of it."

She smiled with the kiss that was pressed to her cheek. Odell then disappeared through the dark curtains, leaving Kiera to do what was asked of her.

The crowd was buzzing out there, tempting her to sneak a peek through the closed blinds. The biggest artists were of course seated up front, some of them having snubbed Kiera of her awards. They probably had no idea who she was, and tonight they would only come to know her as the pretty face that presented the award for Best New Artist. 

She looked around the stage area, where several producers with black headsets were running around like hens on a farm, ensuring that the production of the show was running smoothly. They seemed so agitated, Kiera thought. Not at all helping her calm her own rising nerves. And yes, despite not having to actually perform, Kiera was still nervous about going on stage and having all of those googling eyes staring up at her. Not to mention the bright lights, pointing directly at her face, highlighting every possible flaw in her dark features.

"Hey, I'm Ruben."

She flinched as a tall figure appeared beside her.

"Sorry, did I scare you?" He chuckled. A man, broad in the shoulders yet slim at the waist. He wore a dark suit, complementary to his other dark features, like his eyes and his hair. Kiera didn't see much of it though, his hair, since their height differences had him peering down at her like a parent does a child.

"I see that they've already given you a microphone. They didn't give me one so I assume that means we're sharing?"

"I don't—"

"Ruben?" A woman with a headset appeared, shifting her head between Kiera and the stranger. "Great, you've already gotten to know each other. I suggest that the two of you walk out together. On my que, of course. Ruben, you then prepare the envelope, while....while...."

"Kiera." She frowned.

"Of course." The lady smiled, a visible drop of sweat running down her temple. "Kiera, you make sure that the microphone is in place when you approach the pedestal. Ruben is gonna prepare the envelope containing the best new artist. Got it?" The lady was rapid, taking the man, Ruben's nod, as a notion from them both.

"I—." Kiera tried to speak. To protest, since she was obviously freaking out. However, the stage lady put her hand up, giving Kiera and Ruben the cue to take to the stage. Although her feet hesitated to move as the curtains drew open, the hand putting pressure on Kiera's lower back ensured that she did. Met with courteous applause from the well dressed crowd, she and Ruben took to the stage. 

By the time they reached the presenter's pedestal, the applause had died out, the crowd obscured behind the blinding lights. Kiera was undoubtedly struck by it all, the applause, the lights and the front row of artists whose polite demeanor seemed to be mocking her. She found herself frozen with terror. Unable to move a muscle. While the voice in her head did nothing to console her, another voice, a man's, appeared like a soft breeze behind her ear. "The microphone." He said, without pleading.

"I can't." Kiera's body trembled, shivers sent all over. "I can't do it—."

"Shh. It's okay, I got you."

Her shoulders fell. Not with relief, but with surprise as someone moved to stand behind her. 

Ruben? 

His arm, a well defined bicep, swept around her body, unhanding Kiera the microphone, attaching it to the stand on top of the pedestal. Pressure was then subdued upon her head, something firm, resting on top of it. As if awaking a lucid dream, Kiera took notice of her surroundings. A mumbling crowd, followed by a few flattering wolf howls and snapping applause. Kiera realized that Ruben was resting his chin on top of her head, his front pushing against her trembling back. However, the trembles quickly seized with the heat that was generated between them.

"Ladies and gentleman...." Ruben's rich baritone voice echoed above Kiera's head, his stubbled chin stirring her silk-pressed hair. "The award for Best New Artist goes to..." A golden envelope unfolded before her eyes, Ruben's large hands retrieving the paper within as his arms shielded around her. The crowd once again expressed their excitement for the gesture with snapping applause and taunting shouts. Although Kiera flushed with embarrassment, not to mention concern for how she and Ruben might appear to the crowd and the people watching at home, her previous trembles had gone away, completely vanishing with the bizarre nature of her situation.

"Benson Boone!!!"

Despite not winning Best New Artist, Kiera felt momentarily at ease. Her stumbles and falls in life having no matter. She would always be cooed and protected in the arms of the man whose heart beat gently against her own. The man that whispered endearments against her hair and slid his hands to rest on her hips.

"You did good, Kiera. You did good."

"I did?"

"Very good."
