10 Best Romantic Restaurants in Barcelona
New Post has been published on https://www.travelonlinetips.com/10-best-romantic-restaurants-in-barcelona/
10 Best Romantic Restaurants in Barcelona
Barcelona doesn’t lack when it comes to romance. The city is strewn with beautiful buildings, a stunning seaside boardwalk and most of all, plenty of charming, tasty and intimate places to dine. The city’s older areas such as the Gothic Quarter, Born, Raval and Barceloneta neighborhoods not only have some excellent options, but the restaurants are often situated in out of the way courtyards, and little patios and terraces, tucked away from the main streets. El Jardi is situated in a garden and lights up during the evening, making you forget where you are.
El Salon is another extremely romantic restaurant, especially during the summer when you can eat on the terrace, which is surrounded by the old Roman Wall. As you get into the Eixample neighborhood, there are some very trendy, new gastro bars, all of which are romantic with delicious menus. And if you’re into wine as well as food, there are some excellent wine and tapas bars which are exceptionally romantic, as most of them only have a few seats, so it’s quiet and enjoyable for either just a few drinks or dinner as well. And then there’s Barcelona’s wonderful boardwalk where you can dine overlooking the Mediterranean sea; it’s hard to beat that.
With its hanging disco ball, plush leather seats and wooden tables, many Ginger fans have coined this trendy wine and cocktail bar as an ‘airport lounge’. It is, however, rather known for its innovative cocktails, wide selection of amazing wine and high-quality tapas. This is a Barcelona gem, ideal for weekend adventures, romantic drinks and tapas and lively evenings on the town. Ginger is nestled behind Plaza Sant Jaume, in Plaza San Jus a little hard to find if you don’t know where to look, but once you stumble upon it you’ll be sure to mark the spot. It’s three floors are ideal for those looking to hide away and have their own space. On the third floor there’s only one table so once you have it, no one will bother you; except the waiter from time to time.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: Most romantic cocktail, wine and tapas bar in the Gothic Quarter.
Sam’s expert tip: Try their tuna tartar and duck tapas dishes as well as the Gordito wine.

Mediterranean inspired cuisine with Spanish influence, this intimate and elegant restaurant is an excellent find in the heart of the Old City. Pla has an extensive menu including fish, meats, salads as well as seasonal specialties and mouth-watering desserts. It’s classy yet unpretentious and a perfect place to spend a truly enjoyable evening, especially if you’re looking for a bit of romance. The restaurant is dimly lit with two floors, yet it’s quite small and perfect to wine and dine with a significant other. It’s also a great place for double dates, as most tables consist of two or four.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: A wonderfully, quiet and romantic gem hidden in the Gothic Quarter.
Sam’s expert tip: Be sure to reserve and keep in mind dinner is done in shifts so you only have two hours to eat from the time you sit down (which is usually enough).

Ferran Adria’s newest addition to Barcelona’s tapas scene, Tickets is a refreshing spin on gastro-tapas, offering delicious, innovative dishes in a fun and youthful locale. Tapas can be ordered a la carte or ask for their surprise menu where you let the waiters order for you. Even if you have food restrictions or allergies, just tell the waiters and they’ll adapt the menu to meet your needs. They even offer a great wine pairing, just ask for their input. Although from the outside Tickets looks like you’re at a carnival with its bright colors and wooden chairs and tables, it’s an incredible gastronomic experience.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: A Gastro Tapas haven with an atypical romantic decor .
Sam’s expert tip: The best way to reserve is to book at midnight, three months before the day you want to go. It’s extremely hard to get reservations, but not impossible.

An excellent mix of Mediterranean and Catalan cuisine in a charming and elegant setting. Boca Grande is one of Barcelona’s fastest rising ‘IT’ restaurants. It’s a great place to throw private parties as they have an additional salon for large groups and an outdoor terrace, especially fun during the summer. Although this is a larger restaurant, it’s situated in one of the city’s most elegant neighborhoods and is a fun and romantic place to spend the evening with a significant other. Boca Grande also turns into a club in the evening so you can either stay for the festivities or continue the romantic evening somewhere a bit quieter.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: Great Eixample restaurant with high quality food and excellent service.
Sam’s expert tip: Be sure to reserve well in advance as they fill up quickly.

This is one of those restaurants where you always find yourself passing by, staring at the people in the window, mouth drooling wishing you were sitting at their table. There’s something that draws people to Cafe de L’Academia, whether it’s the invigorating ambiance, chic yet rustic decor or the classical music that is often played in the background during the meal, it’s hard not to enjoy this restaurant. There are two floors so although it’s small there’s enough room that you don’t feel like you’re being packed in. They also have a great outdoor patio which is very romantic in the evenings and sunny during the days.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: Romantic and with a great energy, this is an ideal place to spend an evening.
Sam’s expert tip: Ask about their rooms for large parties.

One of Barcelona’s most popular tea houses, Caj Chai is tucked away in the city’s Old Jewish Quarter, (the Call) in the Gothic neighborhood behind Plaza Sant Jaume. It’s hard to find a tea house with as many options as Caj Chai and as romantic. Their four-page menu is full of national as well as international teas and their ‘special blends’ are also extremely popular especially around the holiday season. If you’re a sucker for sweets, their brownies are known to be the best in town. They also have a mix of dried fruits, pastries and board games, to keep the afternoon going for hours. This is ideal for couples who want a romantic afternoon, especially if it’s cold and rainy out.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: The Gothic Quarter’s most romantic tea and tapas restaurant.
Sam’s expert tip: Try their Rum & Tea special. Each day they feature a new tea drink

Featuring a selection of international and Spanish high-quality wines, every day they open a selection of thirty wines from around the world, all available for wine tastings or to drink with mouth-watering tapas, cheese and caviar dishes. The bar area is small and intimate, ideal if you’re looking for a few drinks and some small snacks. If you’re in the mood for a more elaborate dinner, the restaurant is directly behind the bar and is super romantic with fantastic service.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: Barcelona’s most romantic wine and food restaurants, with an extensive wine list.
Sam’s expert tip: Try their eggs with truffles and fried potatoes.

An excellent gastro tapas bar in the Old City right near Arc De Triomf at the edge of the Born neighborhood. Elsa y Fred sports an early 1920’s decor and provides an elegantly understated vibe. It’s a great place for a morning coffee and paper, tapas lunch and delicious dinner. On Tuesday nights they have Jazz which provides for an extremely romantic evening. The music is wonderful, yet not too loud. On weekends they’re always packed for brunch, with an extensive menu that lasts until 4 pm. This is a wonderful restaurant for an intimate evening meal or even a romantic lunch.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: Jazz Nights on Tuesday are very romantic in this charming and elegant restaurant.
Sam’s expert tip: Be sure to reserve in advance on Tuesdays and on the weekends.

Charming, quaint and one of the only restaurants in Barcelona that take reservations on their outdoor terrace, El Salon is always a sure bet for out-of-towners, dates and intimate evenings amongst close friends. Featuring a mix of Catalan and French cuisine, the inside of the restaurant has a classic and authentic feel while the patio nestled outback creates a friendly and warm ambiance as it sits alongside several other bars and restaurants, all situated within close proximity of each other. The restaurant is situated in the Gotico and is surrounded by the Old Roman wall, which you can see from your outdoor table.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: An exceptionally romantic restaurant overlooking the Roman wall in the Gothic Quarter.
Sam’s expert tip: Try their Tuna Steak it’s amazing.

There are few Barcelona restaurants able to beat the charm, elegance and eclectic menu found at Montiel. Hidden on one of the narrow side streets in the Born, this small, two-story restaurant has mouth-watering tapas, meats, starters and above all, they have an excellent selection of fresh fish daily. One of the only places in the city that has fish on Mondays (for the most part fish is not caught and sold on Sundays), this is a sure bet for dates, guests or an intimate evening out. The restaurant now has two set menus from which you have to choose, but they are very adaptable if you have any dietary restrictions.
Recommended for Romantic Dining because: It doesn’t get much more romantic than this quaint and charming delicious restaurant.
Sam’s expert tip: Try their sirloin steak and tuna tartar.

English text (scroll down for Spanish):
Given the large volume required by the functional brief (three sports courts) in relation to the limited dimensions of the site and the high urban density of the area, it was decided to semi-underground much of the sports complex. The meticulous design in section of the building ensures good lighting, natural ventilation, ease of access and safe evacuation even of the lower areas.
The decision to partially underground the volume not only reduces its visual impact, it also generates an open urban space that is ceded to the city. This space acts as a public foyer to accommodate occasional large influxes of visitors and users, with entrance via this concourse or plaza that is also the urban finishing touch to the widened street.
The construction system is based largely on brick, deliberately revisiting the old factories, warehouses and workshops that are so numerous in the area. The construction and materiality of the building constitute its formal expression, its finish, with no added elements. The brick thereby has a high profile. The low maintenance bare brick façades alternate empty and full, opaque, translucent and transparent parts, and masonry units of different formats and colours with the aim of lightening the whole, giving the built volume a texture, a grain, a vibrant pixelation, while also adapting to the different orientations.
youtube
film © Simon Garcia | arqfoto.com
We see brick lattice walls on exposed façades protect the courts from direct sunlight and possible glare, and, conversely, large glazed expanses in the lower part of the north-facing façade, opening up to the entrance concourse. The above ground volume of the building is finished off by a roof of gently curving, inverted vaults that is integrated into the context, somehow suggesting the order and presence of the roofs of neighbouring warehouses. This curved-line finish helps to lighten the volume of the complex and constitutes part of its formal expression.
Inside, the layout of the brief is very clear, as seen in the longitudinal section and the floor plan, where we see not just the superposition of the sports courts on different levels but also the arrangement of a central volume containing all the smaller scale elements (changing rooms, storage and services), communications (vertical and horizontal) and installations. This is a compact volume that separates the large-scale elements.
Further intrinsic, deliberate consequences of semi-undergrounding much of the complex are the direct gains obtained thanks to the increase of the complex’s thermal inertia by reducing its exposed surfaces. The building’s energy efficiency begins with the volumetric approach of the design. Subsequently, a whole series of measures on a different scale (solar protection, cross ventilation, natural lighting and the use of renewable energies) reduces the energy needed for it to function, earning the centre LEED Gold certification.

Travelling Santa Coloma
Mercat Sagarra
It is a rectangular building in the center of one square and the whole Eixample district of the city. It has one axial arrangement, with four ports that correspond to the streets that lead to it. There are ceramic signs and decorative elements. Take advantage of the unevenness of the street to bend the surface with a semi-underground floor.
Casa dels Nins
It is an apartment building, ground floor and two floors. The most notable element are the reliefs that adorn the façade, the semicircular pediments and the sills of the windows, friezes and, especially, the upper cornice, which present a whole series of symbolic or allegorical themes of all kinds, made by an unknown author in artificial stone or cement. It was built around 1931. Around 1987 an addition was made respecting the volume and the lines of decoration.
In front of the house there is a sculpture of the Manelic.
Safareig
The remains of the old laundry are located in the center of Plaça Montserrat Roig. We find a rectangular pond with sloping stones to facilitate body posture to wash clothes. The urbanization of Plaça Montserrat Roig in 2006 respected the remains, creating, at the level of the pavement, two glass elements on ceramic finishing platforms that allow both the covering and the observation of the old laundry. In 1972 they were demolished and in 2005 they were rediscovered and used as symbolic elements for the historical memory of the town of Santa Coloma. The laundry, very near the nucleus of Santa Coloma, was used by the neighbors of Singuerlín, Fondo and rest of the town.
Can Mariner
Can Mariner is an old farmhouse in the municipality of Santa Coloma de Gramenet. It is a vestige of the agricultural past of the municipality.
The tower and the other outbuildings give it an atypical appearance. In addition, its uniqueness is power with its oblique position within the urban fabric, free of parallels with the facades and streets of its surroundings.
The farmhouse is located near the center, in the neighborhood of Can Mariner, one of the densest in the city. From the 1960s, this farmhouse was absorbed by the urban fabric, leaving a residual public space around it.
The Torre Balldovina Museum
Is a local multidisciplinary museum that protects, conserves, studies and disseminate the cultural and natural heritage of the territory, collaborating with public and private entities in the city. The museum has its origins in the first discoveries made by Joan Palà and Ferran de Sagarra in 1902 of ceramic fragments on the slope of the Chicken Hill, which led to the discovery of the Puig Castellar site.
Next to the tower there is a monument to the Mauthausen victims.
Can Peixauet
Can Peixauet is an old farmhouse located in Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Avinguda de la Generalitat), near the river Besòs which currently houses the library of the same name of the Network of Municipal Libraries of the Diputació de Barcelona. The origin of the construction is dated to the twelfth century. In the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries it was renovated and expanded to reach its current appearance. The last renovation to this day took place in 2001 by the architects Miquel Espinet and Antoni Ubach, when it was adapted as a Municipal Library.
Can Sisteré
Can Sisteré is a house located in the center of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, very close to Plaça de la Vila and the Sant Carles axis, one of the most important roads in the city. It is currently a center of contemporary art.
Can Sisteré was built at the end of the 19th century. Its value lies mainly in the significance it has historically and sentimentally for the collective memory of the municipality. It was originally a summer residence, conceived as a secluded residential tower surrounded by a garden. The Can Sisteré building is basically a three-storey main prismatic volume to which small bodies are attached to the north, south and west façades.
The City Hall and the Plaza de la Vila The Plaza de la Vila, with its corresponding urbanization, emerged at the end of the s. XIX in the grounds of the defunct farmhouse of Can Pascali. The first nucleus of buildings, known as Casa de la Villa or Ayuntamiento Nuevo, dates from 1886 and consisted of the municipal government, along with the court-prison and a school.
Can Roig i Torres
Is an emblematic building in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, in Barcelonès, which is currently used as the headquarters of the Municipal School of Music. It is a work protected as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest.
French-style modernist building, with its back to the streets that delimit it, where it forms a chamfer, and has the main façade in the garden. The house consists of two angled bodies, ground floor and one floor (and semi-basement in the left body) and attic, joined by the access body with the staircase, crowned by the characteristic pointed tower. It was built between 1910 and 1913 on the initiative of Rafael Roig i Torres, consul of Uruguay in Barcelona. The construction won the award of the City Council and the Provincial Council of Barcelona.
Major Church
This temple dedicated to Santa Coloma (martyr), was built between May 26, 1912 when the first stone was laid and September 5, 1915 when it was inaugurated. It is one of the last neo-Gothic style buildings to be built in Catalonia between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the exterior façade there is an ogival window instead of the typical rose window with a stained glass window representing the Virgin of Montserrat. The octagonal bell tower that rises in the middle is topped by a conical pinnacle of black tile that is reminiscent of Northern Europe. At the same time, we find some details of the Catalan Modernism of the time such as the ornamentation that surrounds the upper part of the bell tower based on pointed battlements and Greek crosses.
We find the address Carrer Dalt de la Ciutadella. If you have not found the address you were looking for, use our street finder that you will find in the upper left corner of the map.

A mejorar

Sonntag - The day off
