Go For It, Tyril!

One time, while playing Blades 3, I was struck with inspiration to redraw the "Go For It, Nakamura!" manga cover, but with Tyril and my MC. And here it is! I'm really happy with the result, and I hope you all like it too!

Tyril always blushes purple in my heart no matter what 💜 This is also the first time seeing my MC's Book 2 onwards redesign. I do want to make a portrait art of her someday, but I've got other commitments at the moment.

Finally, the flower Tyril is holding is a desert willow. Because, you know 😉

Casey turned the corner, dusting invisible lint off the front of her lab coat as she tried to act nonchalant, even as the sheepish grin on her lips made it clear: this wasn't any other day.

"Good morning, Casey," Bryce smirked, falling into step beside her. "Look at you all dressed up! No wrinkled scrubs today."

"Seriously, Bryce?" She asked, doing her best to feign annoyance. "It's not like I don't wear this outfit all the time."

"Sure," Jackie chimed in. "You wore it intern year, when you were trying to land Dr. Ramsey."

"JACKIE!" Casey hissed as Bryce doubled over laughing.

"Don't worry, Case," Bryce grinned. "Not only did you land him, but you went one further and landed his hotter frenemy. Total legend. They'll be telling your story in these halls for generations to come."

"Thanks, Bryce," she muttered, her cheeks turning red.

"Anytime," he said with a small salute paired with his signature mega-watt grin.

"Actually, I'm here early to talk to Tobias before shift. I know people are aware we're dating, we've told HR and everything... but I want to make sure we're on the same page. We have to be professional at work. No longing stares, no PDA..."

"No, sneaking off to the on-call room for an afternoon delight," Bryce snuck in as Jackie talked about miracles no longer happening in modern times.

"I'm serious," Casey insisted, unaware that Tobias was approaching from the other end of the hall.

Bryce folded his arms and glanced at Jackie, clearly amused. "What do you say? Thirty minutes?"

"Please! Fifteen, tops," Jackie countered.

"Twenty bucks?"

"You're on!" Jackie said, clearing her throat as Tobias joined them.

Casey turned toward him, a blush already settling on her cheeks. She had to admit that seeing him in the halls of her hospital dressed in an Edenbrook lab coat was even more pleasant than she had imagined, but she stayed strong.

"Good Morning, Bryce, Jackie," Tobias nodded before turning to Casey, disarming her when his sparkling blue eyes fixed on hers. He had a way of looking at her that made her feel like she was the only person in the world. It was effortless, and she was sure he didn't even know he was doing it. But he hadn't even spoken to her yet, and she already forgot her name.

"Casey," he grinned, reminding her as she tried to rebound.

"Oh, hey, Tobias... uh, Dr. Carrick," she stammered.

"You OK there, kid?" her boyfriend chuckled.

"Yes. I'm perfectly fine," she replied confidently. "I'm just happy to see you here!"

"I'm happy to be here. It's going to be great working together."

"It is," she agreed. "Edenbrook's lucky to have you. Besides, it will be nice seeing you around the halls."

"That's what I'm looking forward to the most," he winked.

"Oh, this is going to implode faster than expected," Jackie whispered as Casey cleared her throat.

"Yes, well, hon... uh, Tobias. I wanted to remind you, we need some ground rules. We have to remain professional. No longing stares, no improper comments, you know... nothing... inappropriate."

Tobias tilted his head, the hint of a smirk curling his lips. "Casey, I’ve been a doctor for over a decade. I think I can handle professionalism."

"Good," she said firmly, but the glint in his eyes made her uneasy.

"Of course," he added, his gaze dropping briefly to her figure-skimming emerald pencil skirt and form-fitting sweater. "If you wanted me to behave, you might’ve reconsidered your outfit today."

"Here we go!" Bryce whispered as Jackie stifled a laugh.

"This old thing?" Casey deflected. "I've had this forever."

Jackie was quick to jump in. "Yeah, since intern year, when you were trying to—"

Bryce slapped a hand over Jackie’s mouth before she could finish, earning a chuckle from Tobias.

"Relax, baby," Tobias said smoothly, his voice low enough for only Casey to hear. "I promise I’ll be on my best behavior. Mostly."

"Good," Casey said. "I'm glad we're on the same page!"

As she turned to leave, Tobias called after her with a casual smile. "Babe, can I get a quick hug before you go?"

"Sure," she said, then turned to embrace him viscerally.

Tobias couldn't help but chuckle, his arms encircling her and his hands landing a little lower than they probably should have.

"Except us," Bryce called out, raising his hand like a child in school. "And a twenty bucks richer, Jackie. You guys couldn't even make it to fifteen minutes!"

Casey glared at her friends, then Tobias, insufferably proud, chimed in. "Face it, babe," he said, still holding her in his arms. "We can do our best, but in the end... I'm irresistible..."

"Tobias!" she protested.

"Let me finish!" he laughed. "And so are you!"

"Edenbrook is about to get a lot of free entertainment, isn't it," Casey laughed.

"You better believe it!"

It took me forever to find the time outside of school to finish this, but I finally managed it! I made a short fan-made visual novel set in book 1 of Pixelberry Choices' Blades of Light and Shadow!

This is a small side project and the art assets are a bit old and not up to my current standards, but I just made this to get familiar with RenPy and make fanart/fanfic for Blades! Finally, it's done! I have to give a huge thanks to my good friend @liviusofpella for requesting to draw this scene 😁

My favourite part of this drawing is his hair. Even though it took a while, I really enjoyed doing it! Tyril has beautiful hair, I love his little bun, and I loved adding the highlights!

You don't want to know how much time I spent drawing his mouth. Trying to make it look like he's about to laugh without smiling too much was really difficult. Also, his armour and gloves 😵‍💫 It's not as complicated as his Book 1 outfit, but still difficult nonetheless.

A Valentine's Day Experiment

Thank you to @weetlebeetle, the creator of this adorable commission of Ethan and Kaycee. In my HC, Kaycee is NOT much of a cook, but when she decides to cook a special dinner for Ethan on Valentine's Day, how do things turn out?

Book: Open Heart Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Kaycee MacClennan) Rating: Teen Words: 1,121 A/N: Participating in @choicesficwriterscreations Valentine's Day Event and @februarychoiceschallenge2025 - Prompt: Lust.

Ethan Ramsey had never been a fan of Valentine's Day, and he found it imperative that everyone knew it.

"It's capitalist nonsense!" He declared, pouring over the morning paper. "A scheme to convince feeble-minded fools that they're unloved if their partner doesn't send them grotesquely overpriced roses on February 14th, no other day, just that day will do. And, preferably, at work so that everyone can see."

Kaycee was seated at his side, calmly sipping her tea. She was used to this annual proclamation; she honestly found it amusing by now, and she knew it by heart. She playfully mouthed the words as he continued, believing she'd go undetected.

"If I bring sunflowers home on September 18th, does that mean I love you less? No, it doesn't!" He lowered his glasses on the bridge of his nose the moment he caught his beloved mocking him, but his incredulous glare left her giggling with delight.

"Babe, can I just record this? Please. Not only could we hit replay every year, but I'm sure I could turn this into a viral TikTok!"

That earned his further consternation. "Another ridiculous tradition! The social media posts declaring undying love to the 'perfect' partner we all heard them call a son-of-a-bitch at the coffee station not twenty minutes before."

"Did you get it all out of your system now, love?" she teased so adorably that even the crabby doctor found himself grinning. "I know your position by now, and frankly, it's a little hypocritical if you ask me."

That got his attention. "Hypocritical! How?"

"Because you've gone out of your way to make every one of our Valentine's Days special."

"Ah!" he replied, a gentle smile tugging at his lips. "That's because you don't expect the nonsense or overpriced flowers. You simply enjoy spending the day together."

"Damn right!" She insisted. "I'd be pissed if you dropped $100 on a dozen roses when you know what I really want costs a whole lot less."

Ethan chuckled, a mischievous grin spreading on his lips as his hand landed on her thigh beneath the table. "Costs less? It's free, and I try to provide that to you on a daily basis."

"I wasn't talking about... that," she laughed. "I meant my traditional Valentine's Day cupcakes!"  

He had to smile. This was just one reason he loved her so much. She didn't need fancy things – fancy things he'd honestly be happy to provide for her. But she preferred the simple things - cupcakes, snuggles, perhaps a rom-com – and then those "free" activities they both adored.

"How could I ever forget?" He said, placing a gentle kiss on her temple.

"Well, I've got the day off, so I'm preparing a Valentine's surprise for you tonight," she beamed. "Just make sure you're home from work at a decent hour."

With a promise like that, he made sure he complied. Leaving Edenbrook Hospital the moment his shift ended, he stepped into his condo just after the clock struck six. He was intrigued as he entered the door. A distinct aroma greeted him; it wasn't bad... but something was off. Garlic, rosemary, and... was that cinnamon? His brow, then he saw her.

Kaycee stood in the kitchen, her golden hair cascading over her apron, stopping just above the words Kiss the Cook spelled out in garish, bright pink letters.

"Happy Valentine's Day!" she squealed, rushing over to kiss him. "I made dinner!"

Ethan glanced at the food on the stove, not quite sure what it was. The presentation wasn't bad. It even looked edible. But he was a man of science, and he knew Kaycee's track record in the kitchen. It was unlikely today would be any different from her disasters – uhm – attempts in the past.

"You… cooked?" he asked cautiously, shrugging off his coat.

"Don't sound so surprised!" She said, placing her hands on her hips. "I wanted to do something special for you."

He opened his mouth, then promptly shut it. If the love of his life had spent the day cooking for him, well, then he was going to suffer through whatever culinary chaos awaited him.

Kaycee was already pinching a bite-sized morsel from her creation, all but bouncing as she brought it to his lips. "Here!" She smiled. "Taste this!"

He did his best to hide his trepidation, hesitating only a second before accepting his fate. But, the second the morsel hit his tongue, his highly trained palate was assaulted by a combination of flavors that should never exist together.

He chewed slowly. Trying to think of something that would make this redeemable, but he was coming up blank.

His expression betrayed him because Kaycee's face twisted. "Ethan?"

He swallowed. Painfully. "Hmm?"

"All right," she said, crossing her arms. "Be honest with me."

He sighed, pulling her into his arms. "Kaycee, you are the most remarkable woman I've ever met. Brilliant, compassionate, you brighten every room you walk into..."

"But?" she winced.

"But if you were also an incredible chef, it would simply be unfair. No one can be perfect, dear."

"You hate it," she smirked.

"I..." He paused. "Hate is a strong word."

"Mm-hmm." She turned around and reached into the fridge, producing a pizza box from O'Cheese, their favorite pizza place. "Luckily, I had a backup plan. I can have this heated up in ten minutes."

Ethan exhaled, relieved she wasn't upset with him. "You knew it was going to be a disaster, didn't you?"

She shrugged innocently. "I had my suspicions. But hey, I tried!"

He pulled her close, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "You did. And I appreciate the effort. Even if my taste buds will take a week to recover."

"Rude!" she said, smacking his chest.

Ethan smiled, brushing his lips against hers once more. "Besides… I hear you have other skills."

"Oh? Who told you that?"

"A very credible source," he declared, scooping her up in his arms.  

"Well, I'm not demonstrating any of those skills unless..." her eyes met his playfully.

"Don't worry," he laughed. "I stopped by Bova's on the way home. Your cupcakes are on the table in the foyer."

"Ah! I love you!" she beamed. "So, what do you want first, pizza and cupcakes... or me?"

Ethan chuckled as he nipped playfully at her bottom lip. "As tempting as you are, I'm going to need my energy for what I have in mind. So let's have dinner first."

Kaycee giggled, pressing a hand to his chest. "Oh? Planning something special, Dr. Ramsey?"

He smirked. "Let's just say… you're going to need your energy, too. Happy Valentine's Day, Kaycee," he murmured against her lips.

She smiled as she kissed him once more. "Happy Valentine's Day, Ethan."

1- When did you start playing Choices? What was the first book you played? 

I saw the app being highlighted a lot in Google Play in 2017, but it was only at the end of February-beginning of March 2018 that I downloaded it. It was when Perfect Match 1 started releasing and shortly before Bloodbound 1 began releasing. Time is flying!

There were already a lot of books, and it was a bit overwhelming. I chose the series that was being heavily advertised: The Royal Romance.

2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?

I joined the Choices sub-Reddit in July 2019, then the Tumblr fandom in April 2020.

I first joined the sub because I wanted to discuss the books and the characters, and hopefully befriending other players. It was lonely to read the books, and having no one to share my opinions and theories with. Then, I took a step back from it and after lurking a bit, I joined the Tumblr community. 

3- How did you pick your blog name? 

When I joined Tumblr, in April 2020, it was initially to be a Writblr. I was writing a story about a heroine named Aallotar. Its title gave my blog’s URL. My blog’s title is its English translation: Aallotar’s dream.

In the end, my blog turned into a bit of everything.

4- Pull up the first post in your archive, and tell us about it!  

This is my very first post. This is my original writing, conveniently mentioned right above. :)

5- Do you write fanfiction, create fan art, or are you one of those really gifted people who do both? 

I define myself as an artist because I create. This is how I express myself. It doesn’t matter if the pencil I use is to write or to draw as long as I create. Before I started learning how to draw, I was always saying that I was drawing with words. To me, this is what writing is. I draw and paint with my words to depict stories that my characters want me to tell.

I mostly write, but I also create fan art, such as sketches and various kinds of edits: quotes, sprites, moodboards, etc. 

6- How long have you been creating for Choices and for any other fandoms?

For the defunct app Lovestruck, from December 2020 to October 2021.

For Choices, since April-May 2020. 

7- What is your favorite Choices book, and what is your favorite Choices book to create for?

My all-time favourite Choices book is Veil of Secrets. I adore it!

I heavily create for the It Lives Anthology - the three books - and also for Immortal Desires. I love these books so much that I made a crossover, and most of the characters from the Anthology and from ID have met and even befriended each other.

8- Share your first Choices fanfic or fan art that you posted with us. Do you still like it, or would you change it if you were creating it today?

My first Choices fiction is a Blades one: Of Stardust and Light.

I still love it and I wouldn’t change anything - except the typos and the clumsy grammar/syntax, due to the fact I am not an English-native speaker.

For a long time, I thought it was my masterpiece, that I wouldn’t write something as good or even as better than this. But I proved myself wrong in the end.

The other reason why I wouldn’t rewrite it now is because I have definitively stopped writing for my Blades pairing, Tyril x Soile. I made it official a few months ago, and this decision is final.

9- What is your favorite piece of fiction or art that you created? 

It’s really hard to choose only one, but I do have a soft spot for Répondez, S’il Vous Plaît ! #3 because this is where I tell about my OCs’ Ash and Skylar’s meeting. It was a story I wanted to write for a long time and I love it.

Chronicles of a Crimson Summer deserves to be mentioned as well. This is the longest story I have shared here, and it’s a real balance of angst, fluff, and funny moments. Also, because its birth was extremely painful, so for all of these reasons, I am glad I wrote it and shared it.

10- Do you have a fic/art that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to do well but found it could use a little more love?

I never expect anything I share to be well received, whether it’s a fiction or a drawing. I’m only sharing it, hoping that at least someone will find it and enjoy it. Even better if it helps the person in any way.

That said, sharing my art remains a lot more difficult than sharing my writing, so any art reblog is leaving me a bit confused, due to my imposter syndrome.

Most people here who are familiar with my stories have read some of the funny stories I have shared, as well as the fluffiest stories I have ever written - sometimes too fluffy for me. 

However, this isn’t only what my writing is about. Darker Than Night has generated so much indifference that it saddens me.

This series really shows what my writing is, minus the layer of humour that you can usually expect. It truly deserves better, just like In Joy and Sorrow, that actually gives a good idea of what my writing really is.

11- (WRITERS) If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why? 

I usually share a lot of fluff here, because the world outside is hard, so I want to uplift people with sweet and funny stories. However, my original writing is usually angsty with some funny and fluffy moments to alleviate all the angst a little. So, I’m choosing angst. Definitely. To me, writing angst is comforting.

11a - (ARTISTS) If you could only draw one style or type of art for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? 

I could easily do oil pastels for the rest of my life. It’s an easy technique to learn, it’s very forgiving, it’s calming, and I love how it looks.

12 - Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?

I am agender and aspec, so in any non-binary and/or aspec MC / OC of mine can be found parts of me, regardless of how they define themselves on those large spectrums. Representation is highly important to me, so this is one of the recurring themes in my writing.

Also, the witty/sarcastic and playful characters are easy to write because I know them too well!

13 - What element of writing/art do you struggle with most?

Finding the right word is difficult, either in English or in my native tongue. I always want to capture the emotion, the feeling, the landscape with the perfect word. I’m still learning in my daily life.

Regarding my art, at the level I am right now, that would be shadows. Sometimes, they look great, but they often don’t. Practice makes perfect, so this is what I do whenever I can.

14 - Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?

I tend to have only one WIP that I see to end. One reason for this is that I usually write my stories in a notebook, before I type them down to share them. The state of the notebook is not always great; I even sometimes struggle to re-read what I corrected!

If it’s about my original work, then, yes, I want to finish that one novel’s second draft.

15 - If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to see your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you show them first? 

It has actually happened with one of my siblings. At that time, I was only writing for Blades and had maybe like five stories posted. I let my sibling read them because we are close. For other people, I think it would be on a case-by-case basis, but most likely not. I'd rather make them read my original writing, if my shyness isn’t getting in the way.

16 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing or art? Are there any artists that influence you?

Émile Zola and Arto Paasilinna are my all-time favourite writers.

I am learning from every fanfiction writer I am reading. First, because I read in a foreign language. Second, because I believe you learn from everyone every day.

In terms of art, I don’t think I have a particular influence. I am still exploring my style.

17- (WRITERS)  Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series? 

It would be In Joy and Sorrow. I created this It Lives in the Woods AU series to give a life to my first MC, Riikka. The one she couldn’t have. In this series, I talk about close friendships, coming outs, being bilingual/bicultural, how to navigate a romantic relationship as an aspec*, how to deal with bullying/harassment, etc. I talk about timeline collapse and time-travelling as well.

And because there’s the most delightful OC ever, my all-time favourite: Ash. He truly is one of a kind and his friendship with Dan is really something special.

*aspec: a person on the aromantic and asexual spectrums.

18 - (ARTISTS) Which one of your creations would you like to see a fiction written about? 

I don’t have any yet that would justify the honor of having a fiction being written about.

19- Do you write original fiction or create non-fandom art? 

I started writing when I was 10 years old. It was thanks to an assignment for my native tongue class when we were studying the structure of a fairytale. I really enjoyed writing one, so I kept writing over the summer. Little stories about everything and nothing.

I wrote my first novel when I was 13, but never dared to send it to a publisher. I kept writing novels - and not sending them, I have a nice collection, now! - and branching out in other forms of writing, in hope to develop as a writer: rpg forums, poetry, (fan)fictions, creative writing course, etc. I took a ten year break from writing (fan)fictions before returning to them.

I am working on the second draft of a novel about grief, and I have three other different novels already outlined.

Regarding art, I mostly create non-fandom art.

20-  What other hobbies do you have?

Except writing and drawing; I paint murals and do oil pastel; I do theatre; I design and crochet my own clothes.

I enjoy watching old films, Hollywood era and silent ones included, but modern films as well, if they are excellent.

I love learning foreign languages, listening to music and going to gigs.

I am also a true race car enthusiast, preferably Formula races - F1 to F4, Formula Regional included.

I also enjoy going for walks in nature and travelling.

I want to thank CFWC for highlighting me, and giving me the chance to talk more about my characters, my stories, my writing and my art. This means a lot, especially as this month is also when I’m celebrating my 4 year Tumblr Anniversary.
