Two Iconic Movies, Two Anniversary Events, Two Ways to Commemorate
2024 is an important year for the Ghostbusters franchise, seeing the release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and celebrating not one but two milestone anniversaries: the 40th Anniversary of Ghostbusters and the 35th Anniversary of Ghostbusters II! We’d already saved the collecting world with the first-ever Ghostbusters HasLab, the Plasma Series Spengler’s Proton Pack (no longer available), and came back strong with an ambitious sequel known as the second-ever Ghostbusters HasLab, the Two in the Box Ghost Trap & P.K.E. Meter (no longer available).
But we were at a cross-rip—er, a crossroads—regarding the third-ever Ghostbusters HasLab. How would we trap the perfect paranormal follow-up? Unfortunately, nobody could agree on any one idea. There was a lot of bickering, even more name calling, and believe it or not, no less than three atomic-weight-of-cobalt wedgies. At the end of the day, we just couldn’t believe that things had gotten so bad in the HasLab Lab that there was no way back. Because there were a few sparks of sweet humanity left in that burned-out workshop. We just had to figure out a way to mobilize it!
We needed something no one had ever done before, something that would blow the doors off the competition, and something that would really get the fandom’s collective engine revving. We’re beyond proud to announce the first-ever 6-inch-scale Ectomobile ever. EVER! And with both a base and deluxe model available, you get to choose your ride!
Everybody Can Relax…
That’s right, we found the car, and boy is she a beaut! The Ectomobile is so much more than just an automobile—it’s an icon; ridiculously designed, ridiculously cool, and instantly recognizable. The Ecto not only drove onto the silver screen, but she also drove straight into our hearts. We only hope our Plasma Series Ectomobile will do the same! Measuring in at 22.5 inches long, the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) is just shy of 2 feet long and comes with all the movie-accurate bells, whistles, and gadgets, die-hard fans expect.
The HasLab Lab worked directly with our partners at GHOST CORPS to create the most authentic and movie-accurate 6-inch-scale Ectomobile possible. Our design team was even able to visit and photograph an actual Ecto, and boy howdy, did they get all up in that car’s business, as indicated by the eerily insane amount of detail included in this 6-inch-scale replica.

How did we not do this sooner?
SECOND-EVER PLASMA SERIES GHOST: THE GREEN GHOST
The Green Ghost (aka Slimer)

The Green Ghost—or Slimer, as he’s more commonly known—is arguably the most famous ghost in the Ghostbusters universe, and the first successfully busted specter! From pigging out on leftover room service to charging and sliming Venkman, this ugly little spud was an immediate fan favorite. Now, he’s finally making his gluttonous debut in the Plasma Series, featuring 4 points of articulation and classic Ghostbusters design and detail. Includes stand.
THE GHOSTBUSTERS ARE BACK (IN THE PLASMA SERIES)!
Yes, that’s right, Ghostbusters! They’re back with twice the know-how and twice the particle power to deal with all your supernatural elimination needs. So come, celebrate the grand re-opening with 4 Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ghostbusters II action figures (Deluxe Model only)!
Back the Ectomobile (Deluxe Model) and you’ll receive all 4 Ghostbusters, featuring all-new head sculpts and wearing the highly sought-after charcoal jumpsuits! You’ll also receive 4 Proton Pack accessories and 4 Plasma Stream accessories, as well as 2 Ecto-Charger Pack accessories and 2 Ecto-plasm Stream accessories, so you can re-create favorite moments from Ghostbusters II.
Additional Deluxe Model accessories include a toaster, Ghostbusters hot beverage thermal mug, and Ghostbusters balloon.
“TWO WEEKS TO TULLY” EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
We couldn’t celebrate the hilarious follow-up to Ghostbusters, the aptly titled Ghostbusters II, without including the unofficial fifth Ghostbuster! As a special bonus, if the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) traps the minimum backer amount within the first 14 days of the campaign, all backers will receive a 6-inch Louis Tully (Ghostbuster) action figure! Yes, that means if the early bird special is unlocked in the first 2 weeks, EVERYONE that backs the project throughout the duration of the campaign will receive this awesome Ghostbusters action figure! That’s scary awesome. Includes Proton Pack (x1), Plasma Stream (x1), Ghost Trap (x1) and P.K.E. Meter (x1) accessories.
A SUPERNATURAL CELEBRATION
We here in the Ghostbusters HasLab Lab love this franchise just as much as you do. We’re not just labbies, after all, we’re fans. We grew up with these characters, we wanted to join the team, and their stories are irrevocably woven into the very fabric of our existence. And 40 and 35 years later, both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II remain very much woven into the fabric of pop culture. To say we’re honored to be a part of the amazing and inclusive legacy of Ghostbusters… well, that would be putting it mildly.
Here's to 40 years of frights, delights, and saving the world, as well as 35 years of psychomagnotheric ecto-plasm, haunted paintings, and… well, saving the world! Back this project today and race to the next bust in style!

Happy Halloween everyone.
I got a new shelf a while back, and I decided this is going to be a monthly display. For October I decided to start things off with my Ghostbusters toy, but old and new. This isn’t my entire collection, but it’s a good chunk of it. I didn’t have room for all of the Real Ghostbusters vehicles or the fire house, but maybe one year.
And I threw in a little bit of Beetleguise in there too.

Egon Spengler from Hasbro’s Ghostbusters Plasma Series. I’m really impressed with Hasbro’s Ghostbusters Plasma Series and that awesome build-a-figure. The likenesses up close are amazing! The detail is crazy cool! There’s lots of articulation including double-jointed elbows and knees that would allow for some insane action poses. Each figure comes with one exclusive accessory and a piece of the build-a-figure. The proton packs are easy to attach to the figures. They thought of everything! Highly recommended for Ghostbusters collectors. #ghostbusters #hasbro #sciencefiction #scifi #horror #horrorcollector #horrorcollection #comedy #actionfigures #actionfigurereview #toys #toystagram #toycrewbuddies #toycollector #toycollection #toycommunity #instagrambham #geeklife #alienbeearmy #bhamreviews #follow #entertainment #news #pickup #tgif https://www.instagram.com/p/CCMHq-glBkA/?igshid=8ts513cmbb99

Ghostbusters Day 2022 Recap
Sony Pictures and Ghost Corps put on quite a show last night, as a Marvel Studios-like presentation and screening kicked off the first annual (yes, they’ve got the drive to do this once a year) Ecto-Fest celebration. Cast and crew from the films, Sony Pictures employees, lucky fans, and members of the press were all on-hand for the festivities which included announcements, teases, and a booming outdoor encore screening of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
The evening began with a wonderful behind the scenes featurette with b-roll footage of Ernie Hudson arriving at the Ladder 23 filming location in downtown Los Angeles to film the “end tag” scene from Afterlife.
The featurette served as an introduction for the man who needs no introduction, Ernie Hudson himself. Dressed in a power suit that would make the chairman of Zeddemore Industries proud, Hudson revealed that the Sony lot will forever remember Ivan Reitman by naming the street in which Ghost Corps and the Ecto-1 are parked “Ivan Reitman Way.” Hudson then teased that the future for Ghostbusters was in good hands and, “I’m not allowed to tell you much more than that, but rest assured, we have a lot of Ghostbusting ahead. I’ll just say, if need be, the flight suit still fits.”
With that, the floor was turned over to Hasbro where Jenny Whitlock unveiled a limited to two edition of an Ivan Reitman Plasma Series action figure. One of which will reside at Ghost Corps’ office in Culver City, and the second will be auctioned off for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles at a later date.
Following that, Whitlock gave backers a glimpse at progress for the Spengler Proton Pack HasLab that was offered up for pre-sale crowd funding. The biggest reveals are that the Pack will weigh a mere 15-pounds and will be light on fans’ backs, includes real metal parts including the switches and Clippard Valves, and the Spengler Journal that was offered as an incentive will be double the page count than expected. A larger update is available on the Hasbro Pulse blog with photos of the most recent prototypes and more.
Next up was the head of Sony Pictures VR, Jake Zim (with special guest Logan Kim) who offered updates on their Meta VR experience and unveiled a new installation VR arcade called “Ghostbusters VR Academy,” which will be a two-story, two-part experience that allows players to train to be Ghostbusters and drive the Ecto-1 like a pro. The first part of the experience is a first-person perspective where you don a Proton Pack with a haptic feedback vest and capture ghosts in a team of four players. Following that, players head downstairs where they’re put in the driver’s seat for a simulated joyride of a new hover-prototype Ecto-1 through three levels of competition. The installation will be available at 400+ Hologate locations around the world later this year.
Zim and Kim yielded the floor to a filmed message from Dan Aykroyd himself, who taped a message from his family farmhouse. It is the same family farmhouse where his spiritualist great-grandfather served as the inspiration for Ghostbusters. Aykroyd teased that we’re all invested in the future of Ghostbusters, not just from an intellectual property and franchise perspective, but in the story that Afterlife opened up as well. We want to know what happened to Phoebe Spengler following the events at the Dirt Farm. We want to know what happened to the Ghostbusters in the 1990’s and the time leading up to Afterlife. And with that, he was proud to announce the “spectral stewards and trusted keepers of the Cadillac keys” to the stage: Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan.
Reitman and Kenan had many announcements, all of which the running theme was inner-connectivity and a cohesive story that will fill in gaps, move the story into the future, and entertain Ghostbusters fans for years to come.
First up, the pair gave an update on the upcoming Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed console video game, which will allow players to compete either as Ghostbusters or as the ghosts themselves. Illfonic is working hard on the game for release later this year on consoles and PC.
Next, the first of the big reveals: Ghostbusters is returning to comics. Dark Horse Comics is the new license partner for Ghostbusters and Reitman and Kenan announced they are overseeing an in-canon mini-series that will be released at some point next year. A Variety article posted today says the Dark Horse series will bridge the gap between Afterlife and the upcoming sequel (more on that momentarily).
The duo then went on to announce the Ghostbusters animated feature film collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation has a creative team working hard on its development, and that the project was near and dear to the late Ivan Reitman’s heart. “This was a passion project of my father’s and it’s easy to understand why. The world of the unknown can only be properly explored through the limitless reach of animation,“ Jason Reitman told the crowd. Per Variety, Chris Prynoski (executive producer, “Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe”) and Jennifer Kluska (“Hotel Transylvania: Transformania”) are set to direct, with Brenda Hsueh (supervising producer, “Disjointed”) on board to write.
More animation news came after that, with an extension of the announcement from this morning that Sony and Ghost Corps have partnered with Netflix to create a new animated Ghostbusters series. While not much more was revealed about the new show, Reitman and Kenan assured fans that the new series will navigate an unexplored era of the Ghostbusters canon, which will be intriguing. “Between gaming, comics, television, and movies, we are going to tell the untold history of Ghostbusters while reaching into the future with characters you haven’t met from places you haven’t gone,” said Kenan on the world’s they are exploring in building out the universe.
Last, but certainly not least, the creative pair provided an update on the next live action Ghostbusters film that they are feverishly writing now. Reitman reminded fans that the codename for Ghostbusters: Afterlife was Rust City, a security title that became very clear when the film was released as both the geographical location of where the story took place, but also symbolic of the characters and world we knew. Well, now that the rust has been shaken, Reitman and Kenan gleefully teased that the security title they’ve been using for the new film is Firehouse. While we’re not clear on what the story will be, the two proudly announced that Afterlife ended with the Ecto-1 pulling into the firehouse bay and that’s where the next story will start: back in New York City. Though many news blogs and pundits my scoff at the announcement of a film’s code name, the announcement spoke volumes: Ghostbusters will be back in New York, back in the firehouse, and ready to bust some heads. In a spiritual sense, of course.
The evening was capped off with an outdoor screening of Ghostbusters: Afterlife in the cool Los Angeles air, with booming sound and a rowdy audience cheering and engaged throughout.
If this is the first of many Ecto-Fests to come, one can only imagine the scope and announcements and reveals that may be in store June of 2023. Until then, we let our imaginations run wild and hang on tight for the future. It’s going to be a wild ride.

Ghostbusters
Plasma Series
Egon Spengler
by Hasbro (2020)
Egon is the brains of the Ghostbusters.
I’ve got to moving things along; this will be a lightning round!
His accessories are a proton pack, PKE meter, and terror dog leg.
Egon stands about 6in tall, and stands well.
The head sculpt is perfect, and looks exactly like the late, great Harold Ramis.
The PKE meter is a bit too small, and will probably be easily lost at some point.
BAF:
Terror dog hind leg
Final Thoughts:
In short, Plasma Series Egon is great!
“We’re ready to believe you!”

Diamond Select’s
The Real Ghostbusters
Egon Spengler
by Diamond Select
I picked this up back in October, I think in 2019 from my local comic book store. I’d been eying it for a while and finally decided to pick him up.
Egon:
Egon Spengler is the brains of the Ghostbusters. He’s usually conducting experiments, or is researching something paranormal, or just not comprehending a joke...
The toy stands about 7 inches tall and is based on ‘The Real Ghostbusters’ cartoon version, however Diamond Select attempted to marry the cartoon design with a more realistic sculpting.
I gotta be honest here, as well made as this toy is, I don’t have a lot to say about Egon.
The sculpting o the jump suit is really nice, and you can see all sorts of wrinkles and details such as pockets and zippers, and all the paint deco is clean.
You see a lot of cool, cartoony gizmos hanging off of Egon’s belt. His elbow pads have to occasionally be re adjusted on his arm because the they move from sied to side every so often.
This toy is very articulated:
-Ball jointed head, universal shoulders, double elbow joints, universal hinges at the wrists, ball joint at the torso, waist rotation, universal hips, outward hinge at the hips, thigh swivel, double bend at the knees, ankle point and tilt.
However in spite of the fact that Egon is so well articulated standing is sometimes an issue. Maybe it’s because of the proton pack, or maybe his feet could afford to be a little larger, but sometimes pose Egon into an action pose can be tricky.
Though the sculpting of Egon is more realistic and life like than the animation model, however the proton pack on his back doesn’t look all that different from the cartoon at all.
The paint deco is simple. It’s mostly a muted blue, with some red, yellow, and some silver paint. It’s simple...but it gets the point across.
The neutrino wand is connected to the pack by a thin yellow plastic cord and is still using the muted blue as its base color, along with the silver and some light browns in areas.
The pack itself is mostly simple geometric shapes with some sculpted tubes and wires, but it’s not too overwhelming. There’s even a painted dial which...well, it looks cartoony.
Egon is wearing the pack with shoulder straps and a belt around his waist. I couldn’t find any way to remove the proton pack, so I guess even though it’s a separate piece from Egon, but it’s on him permanently.
There’s a small rectangular plastic tab which sticks out on the side of the proton pack, and I tried to place the ghost trap there, and much to my surprise it held on pretty well.
Though the cord did whatever it felt like doing...
Let’s focus on Egon’s head sculpt for a moment.
It’s good. I think it’s really good, it’s just weird seeing a cartoon character with more realistic detailing. Egon’s got a lot of nice hair sculpting, and I think the glasses are a separate object to the rest of his face.
He even has the peculiar look on his face, as if Egon’s about to speak, or he’s just fascinated with whatever it is he’s looking at...
You can even see his upper teeth, and they’re painted well too.
Still, an extra head would have been nice.
Accessories:
Diamond Select Egon comes with a decent amount of accessories, including a plastic stand, which is meant to connect with the other three Real Ghostbusters figures, to create a false front of the firehouse.
Egon comes with three pairs of swap-able hands:
-Bare hands, semi grip (doesn’t really hold the neutrino wand all too well)
-Gloved hands (similar poses as the bare hands)
-Gloved hands (holding position)
All three hands pop on and off without a problem, however just be aware that the both pairs of gloved hands comes in tow parts; the hands themselves, and the flared cuffs are a separate piece of soft plastic. Be sure not to lose them.
The PK E meter is what the Ghostbusters often use to track down ghost, and this is pretty much what it looked like in the cartoon.
It looks really good, however the antennae (the whole thing in fact is made of a soft plastic) and it’s so thin that warping is inevitable and it just looks bad.
The paint details looks fantastic though.
The ghost trap is what the Ghostbuster use to...well, trap ghosts. again, much like the PK E meter it looks really good, and has a lot of nice painted detail; I have less to complain about the trap than I did the meter. If I were to voice one issue with it is that the length of the cord is just too short.
And it would be nice if the cord was made out of wire, so you adjust it instead of it being made out of plastic which is more difficult to manipulate.
The proton stream and the clear plastic connector is where I have the biggest issue with Egon’s accessories.
For starters I prefer my blast effects to be clear plastic; I think clear plastic effects give off a more iridescent look to them and they they also tend to be made out of a softer plastic.
The stream here is made out of a very rigid plastic, and I’m confident that under the slightest bit of strain that it will break one of these days.
In order to have the proton stream appear to be firing out of the neutrino want this clear plastic connector is the only thing which allows that to happen, and that is problematic...
The connector fits well enough onto the tip of the wand, however the stream doesn’t fit too well on the tiny end of the connector; it’s much smaller than the connector, and is likely to fall out unless the toy is holding the wand up a bit.
What Diamond Select should have done was make the wand connector the bright light at the base of the stream. It would have made the stream and connector one object, and probably would have given it a more cohesive look.
Final Thoughts:
This is a really nice toy. I have a lot of fond memories of ‘The Real Ghostbusters’ cartoon (and in my opinion it still holds up today)
The figure really solid, well sculpted, and for the most part it stands well. It’s weird though...Real Ghostbusters Egon looks good, trying to be realistic and yet also trying to maintain the aesthetic of the cartoon. I can dig it though.
Where the toy lacks is in the accessories. I’m not a fan of the particle stream and the small, clear plastic connector. The stream is too solid, and the clear connector can be easily lost. I’ve already lost it once already, then found it, and will probably lose it again.
I’m not sure if I’ll pick up the other three Diamond Select Real Ghostbusters toys, especially since Hasbro has launched there new 6in Plasma Series Ghostbusters toys, AND the retro Kenner reproduction Real Ghostbusters toy (I haven’t seen any of them in the stores yet, but I’m looking out for them).
So I may just stick with this version of Egon and focus on the Hasbro toys instead.
Now enjoy the pictures.
