This vegan version of the traditional Golden Milk Turmeric Tea has a soothing mix of spices that are good for you. Turmeric, cinnamon, and ginger can help reduce inflammation, and black pepper makes turmeric more bioavailable. The maple syrup and vanilla extract that you can choose to use make the recipe sweeter and give it more depth of flavor. A little cayenne pepper gives it a spicy kick.
Ingredients: 2 cups unsweetened almond milk. 1 teaspoon ground turmeric. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger. Pinch of black pepper. 1 tablespoon maple syrup optional, for sweetness. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract optional. Pinch of cayenne pepper optional, for extra spice.
Instructions: In a small saucepan, heat almond milk over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Add turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, maple syrup if using, and vanilla extract if using. Whisk the mixture until well combined and heated through, about 3-5 minutes. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice level as desired. Pour into mugs, sprinkle with a pinch of cayenne pepper if desired, and serve hot.
