Chapterhouse: Dune - “The Diversionary Attack on Geidi Prime (Gammu)”

Pages 386-394: Finally, Frank Herbert has delivered in having a chapter or even just pages of highlighting or describing large-scale battle scenes. One of the things that troubles various readers is the lack of pages devoted to large army fight scenes. This happened in Herectics of Dune where there were two instances of Miles Teg and his men: (1) Going to steal a No-ship and (2) Last Assault on Arrakis before dying at the scorching flames of Honored Matres’ Obliterater ships that torched Arrakis to asunder. 

Even in the first Dune book, there was like a description of destroying the shield wall, gun fire and that’s it. There’s no pages devoted to Fremen engaging in armed combat against the saudaukar.

In these pages (386-394), Miles Teg on-board his ship watches “projections” of the battle on Gammu a.k.a. Geidi Prime. With the combined forces of Armed Bene Gesserit Sisters and Miles Teg’s resistance fighters on Gammu, they’ve launched a series of explosions across the planet and laid to waste in attacking many facilities housing the Honored Matres sisters and their male solider counterparts. At the final pages of this chapters, Murbella override or interferred communications to inform Miles Teg to pick up the “Rabbi” and a rogue Reverend Mother name Rebecca to be rescued. Rebecca is what appears to be sole survivor and vessel of many memories of those who perished on the Planet Lampadas, including Lucilla who died during her interrogation with the “Great Honored Matre.” It should be noted  that it was part of the plan to attack on Geidi Prime in order to get the Honored Matre forces to retreat to the Planet Junction where they will be cornered and be forced to surrender.

Note: The above image is a face claim to the mention of “Hammerships” in this battle. So, I thought of the idea that Hammerships may refer to ships that kind of resemble a hammerhead shark.
