From @rueitae’s fic “Shootin’ the Breeze (Just Say Yes)”, I present to you my first contribution to the @planceeverafter zine! It was from this piece I learned how to paint sunsets and draw horses (albeit rather smug-looking horses, but horses nonetheless). And it was, as always, a pleasure to work with Rue!

This is the piece I drew for the @planceeverafter zine in 2021, in collaboration with @hushman! Thank you so much everyone who participated! Loved seeing all of your great work!

The idea for this piece was a Victorian AU in which Lance is the descendant of a long line of mystics from the Clan McClain, and Pidge is an occult scientist who disguises herself as a boy to attend college. Together they fight evil (and fall in love)!

Here is the charm design I made for the @planceeverafter zine! This one was super fun to come up with because what better thing to go with Plance than plants? I love the symbolism of tulips for Pidge/Meklavar - “deep and perfect love,” and bluebells for Lance/Pike - “loyalty, constancy, humility and gratitude.”

“If I win, you’ll let me and Pidge go free, and give up trying to take her family’s shop,” Lance says evenly.

“Of course,” Thurman readily agrees. “But,” his smile turns wicked, “if I win, both y’all and your assets belong to me. Should you survive, that is.”

Lance dismounts, barely glancing at Pidge's struggles to warn him, to tell him to go home and leave her. Setting down his beloved rifle, he picks up the revolver and checks the chamber before slamming the gauge shut with a wild spin. 

“Deal.”

Contribution #3 to the @planceeverafter zine! (Yes I realize I haven’t posted contribution #2 yet. I’m getting there!) Y’all know I am *weak* for some fancy plance-y, so when one of our fabulous mods mentioned that they wished for some more fairy tale-themed art for the zine, my hand metaphorically shot up with enthusiasm akin to the student who is only barely able to keep from shouting out the answer to the teacher’s question. …That may be a poor analogy. But regardless, I was excited to have the chance! Cinderella is, to me, one of the most quintessential fairy tales. Practically every corner of the world has their own version of the story, so why not every corner of the galaxy? For this piece, I learned about painting shadows! Also, I played with the “sparkle” brush…liberally.

I am so very excited to be a part of Happily Ever After: a Plance Zine ! I am so honored to have been allowed to contribute to this zine (my very first!!!). I am looking forward to seeing all of our hard work in print, and I hope others are just as excited! A lot of love and care went into this project, and at a time when we all needed to feel connected with one another. I hope when you get your copy, you will also feel that sense of connectedness and community as you enjoy the fruits of our labor along with us!
