Hii! Really love your art! Your designs for the mario characters are super lovely. I was wondering tho, what drives your dimentio? Why does he, like, destroy nearly every kingdom he comes across? Why does he want to become king of all worlds when he doesn't seem to mind the 'subservient' role?
Hope you're having a wonderful day!
Okay so, this probably will get extremely long ksajhd
Dimentio is unconsciously reenacting what the Pixl Queen, or his sister Shadoo, did. After getting driven to madness by being resurrected in a vessel with the Dark Prognosticus, she brainwashed every Pixl, formed an army and tried to destroy the Ancients for their selfishness and supposed egocentrism, so she is technically destroying a kingdom.
I never worked much in the time-line of events, but before all of that happened, Dimentio and his mother Illuminata died, because Merloo, the father and great magician, was researching the Dark Prognosticus and one day he tries a spell and everything goes wrong.
A recurring theme in the family story is how everyone of them had a tragedy, the father gets obsessed with the Dark Prognosticus and kills both his wife and son in an accident, the mother dies protecting the son, the son is cursed with immortality by being bound to the book, and the sister gets ill because of the dark energy the house had, dies, is brought back, dies again, now by her brother's own hands, gets cursed and also locked away in the Pits.
You can say that Shadoo and Dimentio are the ones who suffered the most, and depending on how you see it, yeah they are, but imagine living the rest of your life thinking that you ruined everything, like, EVERYTHING, because a book was "that" important. That's why Merloo ends up helping with the Light Prognosticus, but also completely alone, as if you see in the game, he's the only sage who, apparently, has no descendants.
Before I forget, Pixl Queen Shadoo had the DP, when Dimentio "kills" her, he takes it, tries to protect it from evil, but reads it in morbid curiosity of what is written there, people steal it from him and then he starts getting insane, just like Bleck. ^v^
In conclusion, Dimentio is traumatized, but instead of having a chance to really think about his past and not commit any crimes, he has the DP talking in his head and leaving every other memory to the side, which is why he has kind of an amnesia and why he knows roughly where the thing is. In other words, the book makes you go crazy, and after living so many years and so many deaths I think that the person is very likely to just go apeshit after some point.
Ah, and about the thing with being a servant and wanting to be king at the same time, I don't take what he said in that part too literally, because I do believe that his motivation was to make a perfect world without all the rotten evil people in it, that would explain why he doesn't like the Count, Dimentio may know he's bad too, but he's being bad for a greater or purer reason. The role of servant is mostly just a strategy to be seen as someone who is vulnerable and eager to please, a perfect lie to hide the strings he's holding.
I hope this is a good answer to your question! As always I think that I gave more useless information than a direct response. akjsdh
Have a nice day, or night, wherever you are! :)
Edit: Thank you so much for all the compliments!!! Dumb Camprell was so focused on trying to explain the shitshow that is his fanlore that he forgot completely about what you said first!! But know that it's always one of the best things to see in an ask! :3

Kisses And Holes - 2K Words
Oli has some work to do in Pix's hole, and it goes a little differently then expected.
A03 Link
Oli has a job to do in Pixlriff’s hole.
Not in that way though, that would be a weird thing to start off with. He has a job to do in an actual hole, the bloody big one Pixl is digging out for his project. That hole. Anyone else who thought otherwise needed to get their head out of the gutter, really!
The blonde hummed as he made his way over to his friends base, pickaxe being twirled in his hands idly. He had a vague idea of what he was being asked to do —which was dig—but other than that Oli hadn’t been given many directions. All Pixl had told him was to show up, preferably around noon, and then he would be put to work. It was the wink that had gotten Oli a little curious and excited about this whole ordeal. And just a little nervous as well. For all he knew, Pix had tricked him into mining twenty thousand blocks. Or something else that’s absolutely insane like that.
He gets there quicker than expected. And also without dying or taking much damage, something also unexpected. Oli didn’t have a track record for avoiding either, a few deaths under his belt and the man constantly finding some way to lose hearts. But it seems like today is his lucky day in that regard. The blonde reaches the hole totally unscathed, and circles the area a few times until he sees a familiar spot of blue standing somewhere inside the giant thing.
“Pixlriffs!” He calls out jovially, spotting the man a little ways off, standing in the shallower part of the pit. “My sweet boy!” The man turns his head back in surprise, and a big smile stretches across Oli’s face when their eyes meet; and Pix’s light up upon seeing him.
“Oli! Hello!” He calls back just as happily, watching as the bard makes his way to him; having to parkour on a few things to do so. The hole is a bit of a mess, a bunch of makeshift exists and uneven spaces being dug out, so traversing it is a bit of a hazard. But still, Oli manages to do it, and is standing in front of his friend just as quick as he’d arrived.
“I’m here as requested!” Oli says with a smile, twirling his pickaxe in the air a bit. He would throw it, but he’s not too sure he could catch it. And Oli would like to not die anymore, since Pix using a fate coin on him is what landed him this job in the first place. And he doesn’t want more hours of labor, even if Pix is good company. He has logs to sell and hogs to keep safe! Also, dying by pickaxe would be embarrassing, and he doesn’t even want to know what that chat message would look like.
“Ah, you’re here to pay me back? Like I requested?” Pix almost purrs the sentence out, and, surprisingly, reaches out to tilt the blonde's chin up just a tad. The blonde feels the way his breath hitches, and then Pix’s hand is gone before he can fully process it was there. Or before he can lean into, like he kinda wants to do. Only kinda though, not a lot. He totally doesn’t want to lean into it that much…
“Yep! That's what I'm here for!” Oli says, giving a quick salute. He briefly feels his cheeks heat up, and ignores it. There’s no time for blushing, not when he has work to do! Hours and hours of very important work to do! No time for all of that indeed…
“Good, good!” Pix says, his joyful tone from earlier returning, and the sultry one disappearing into nowhere just as quickly as it had appeared from nowhere. (Oli doesn't think he’s ever heard Pix sound like that before, and he can’t say he’s really against it…it’s quite nice on the ears, and makes him feel all fluttery inside, just a bit…) “I just want you to dig out a chunk, the one over there preferably.” The brunette hums, pointing at little ways off, at a part of the hole that had yet to be touched by many human hands. Expect Pix’s, when he’d needed to chop off the first handful of layers of course.
“I can do that in like, two hours tops!” Oli nods, looking at the area. A chunk sounds like a lot of space to dig out, and certainly looks like it too, but it can’t be too hard! Not with Oli and his master digging skills on the case, it can’t be that hard indeed.
Pix raises an eyebrow, and gives a rather disbelieving huff. Which is bloody rude of him, that is. “All the way to bedrock?” He asks, playfully nudging Oli in the side. The blonde promptly ignores the way his skin seems to burn at the contact.
“Of course!” He says, the confidence very loud in his voice and also very false. He’s pretty sure he can’t get all that done in two hours, maybe a half of it if he’s lucky. And also fast enough. But he’d said he could, he’d committed. And Oli was nothing if not committed to all his bits. And he means all of them.
“Okay then, whatever you say.” Pix sounds greatly amused at his enthusiasm, and maybe even laughs a little bit. “I'll check up on you in an hour or so?” He asks, giving Oli an encouraging clap on the back. And a strong clap too, bloody hell.
“That sounds alright!” Oli confirms with a nod, and Pix gives him another string clap on the back. Once again, he ignores how he blushes and becomes pink at even the slightest contact. The two of them exchange a few words of goodbyes, and then Oli is descending into his friend’s hole, pickaxe in hand and ready to pay Pix back sufficiently; however long that may take. He did have quite a bit to dig, after all.
An hour later, Pix goes to check on Oli. Maybe remove him from his hole while he’s at it, depending on how much of the chunk he’d mined out. Maybe make him stay a bit longer, if Pix feels like he hasn’t been properly paid back. Not that’d he really do that, more so joke about it to see what his friend’s reaction would be. Other than whine and complain. The whining and complaining was guaranteed, It was, rather endearingly, the blonde’s favorite thing to do.
When he gets there, the chunk is not halfway done. Like it should be if Oli could truly do this in two hours, since half of that time is up. Instead only about a third of it is gone, and there’s still clearly a long way down to go. Pix shakes his head at that, a smile gracing his lips despite himself, and he goes to find wherever this fool is digging.
His friend isn’t in eyesight, but there is a small hole leading down. And by small he means like, two by two blocks small. He assumes this must be Oli’s method of digging, whatever it is, and that his friend is maybe hopefully down there. So he cups his hands over his mouth, and hopes his poor miner boy hasn’t gone missing by the time he yells down.
“Oli?” Pix calls down, able to hear his voice echo off the cave’s walls. It takes a moment for his friend to answer back, but his voice is loud and booming once he does.
“Pix! Has it been an hour already!” The blonde calls back up, his voice similarly echoing off the walls. He sounds just as cheery as when he started, if not significantly more worn out. Which serves him right, for all that misplaced confidence earlier, Pix thinks playfully.
“It has!” Pix responds, glad he was right, and that the blonde hadn’t vanished into the vortex that was his base. He didn’t want to add another, more human grave, to his tool graveyard. “You can come up now! You’ve paid me back enough!” He decides the poor guy has done enough digging already, especially under the midday sun, and that this is enough to let him go. Even if it’s so much less than he claimed he could dig.
“Great!” Oli calls back, a speck of his blonde hair now coming within eyesight. Good, he’s not too far down then. “Can I have some help getting outta here!?” That sounds like a bit of whining, something Pixl was fully expecting, and he prepared himself for some silly rant about how horrible his hole was or whatever when the blonde made it back into the open air.
“Of course! I’ll make a staircase!” The brunette calls back, giggling at the whoop of triumph that comes up from the mine. Though, rather comically, as soon as he starts digging the temporary staircase down, his shoe slips on some loose pebble or something. And Pix is sent plummeting straight down into his own hole; landing straight on his rear. There’s a shrill, startled scream, no doubt from the other person stuck down here, and Pix soon finds himself standing up rather disordented, and surrounded but nothing by walls of gray and the occasionally splash of color that is the man in front of him.
Oli makes a startled yelp when he stands, their chests now pressed firmly against each other. Pix is pretty startled as well, and also decently bruised from the fall. But it comes out as a small noise in the back of his throat, the other half of his brain focused on how…close he and Oli now are. How their bodies are flushed right against each other….how close their faces have ended up. It’s an effort to draw his thoughts away from that, to not stare, and refocus himself. Which he does, after probably a few awkward seconds of nothing, most likely. Oli blinks back up at him, all wide eyed like a little owl, and he just can’t help but poke a bit of fun at him in the moment.
“Pretty close there, aren’t we?” Pix says, teasingly. He’s still flustered, sure, but there’s a laugh bubbling up in his chest. Of course they would get stuck in this position, by some number of mistakes and coincidences. Only the two of them could, really.
“It’s a two by two space.” Oli mutters, all the usual spunk gone from his voice. It’s been replaced by something softer, something more embarrassed. One might even call him… flustered by their proximity. Pix feels himself go a little wide-eyed at the realization, and quickly tries to focus on something else; as a distraction. So at least one of them is composed enough to dig them out of here.
He fumbles with his hands for a moment, unsure of what to do with them. Naturally, there’s not a lot of wiggle room down here, leaving them in an uncomfortable position and not a lot of better options. Though, after a few seconds, he ended up placing them gently on Oli’s hips, not seeing a much better option than that. Even if it made their position a lot more…… intimate than it had already been before.
“Really? My hips?” Oli snorts, amused. And also blushing more, pretty noticeably too. Pix tries his hardest not to think about how cute that is, as he has been doing all day.
“It’s either that or I pin you to the wall.” Pix says, a small smirk forming on his face as he speaks. This is an awful predicament to tease the blonde in, but he really can’t help himself today. “Unless you're into that-”
Oli cuts him off with a shriek, one loud enough for anybody above ground to hear. “PIX!” His face looks like a tomato, that’s how red it is. The man is blushing so hard he’s gone and turned into a fruit. A pretty cute fruit, if you ask Pixl anyways.
The brunette can’t help the small laughing fit that hits him, all set off by the smallest of giggles bubbling past his lips. He laughs, again and again, until he’s giggling so hard he has to lean down and press their foreheads together. Oli stares up at him the whole time, seemingly mesmerized, all the way until Pix stops giggling. And when the brunette opens his eyes again, he’s met with starstruck hazel eyes and flushed cheeks, a sight that makes him feel starstruck right in return.
“You’re quite pretty, you know that?” Oli mutters, moving their faces a bit closer despite his embarrassment. His gaze is also not so discreetly flicking downwards, at a certain man’s lips. It’s getting very distracting, that's for sure, and putting a lot of thoughts in that certain someone’s head. Thoughts that you probably shouldn’t be thinking when stuck in a hole with your close friend who you’re maybe also a little into.
Pix feels himself go a little breathless at that, and a red flush starts to coat his own cheeks. “Thanks.” He mumbles, quiet, not needing to be any louder. They were now far too close for that, after all. There’s some sort of delicate peace settling over the two men as well, something warm and familiar, and he doesn’t particularly want to shatter it.
Oli presses bumps their noses together, hazel eyes meeting blue ones in quite the romantic moment, if Pix says so himself. “Are we about to kiss?” The blonde mutters, sounding a little cheeky when he does. A little proud of himself too. Pix wants to wipe that slightly smug look off his face, and can think of many ways to do it at the moment, in the position they're currently stuck in.
“If you want too..” He says, feeling a fond smile dance across his lips. Pix knows he wants to kiss Oli, has for some time now. And yet, despite all his friend’s blushing, is not sure if the feeling is mutual. Though he’s in luck today it seems, because Oli smiles back something warm, and the brunette thinks his heart melts instantly upon the sight of it, right then and there in the terrible two by two hole they're stuck in.
“Mm, good, because I do.” Oli mumbles, and then he’s hesitantly leaning forward the rest of the way. Pix decides to meet him in the middle best he can. Their lips crash together rather eagerly, and he tightens his grip on the blonde’s waist. In some attempt to move him closer, if that’s even possible anymore, of it every part of them that can be touching already is.
Pix hums into the kiss he's given, Oli’s hand cupping his cheek gently. It’s a pretty nice kiss by all standards, and especially by his own. The kiss tastes pleasantly sweet, like strawberries and sugary sakura. It’s what Pix imagines the color pink itself would taste like, if colors could be tasted. Which is fitting, since the man he’s kissing is dressed from head to toe in a light shade of the color, and built everything with it too.
When they pull away, the both of them are a little breathless. Oli looks up at him, incredibly fond as he catches his breath. A fond smile is undoubtedly stretched across his face, and he softly thumbs the brunette’s cheek. Pixl feels himself flush, and knows the look on his face is reflecting the same amount of fondness.
“So, how are we gonna get out of here?” He asks, leaning into the other’s hand. He barely resists the urge to twist his head, and place a delicate kiss on Oli’s palm. But he resists, mostly because he likes being held this way. Though he figures after today, there will be plenty of time to do that.
“I dunno…” Oli hums, feigning thoughtfulness for only a few seconds. He gets straight to what he wants pretty quickly, not being shy about it anymore. Though he’s still blushing like he is, and looking all cute while doing it. “….Do you wanna do that, or kiss me again?”
Pix also fakes thoughtfulness for a second, and hums as if considering his options. Even though he’d have to be insane to turn down that offer, and he’s pretty sure the blonde knows that as well. “I think I’ll be taking the second kiss.”
“Good choice.” Oli puffs, then goes to kiss him again. Pix smiles into it once more, no longer caring that they’re cramped in his hole together. Not when the man in front of him is this wonderful and pretty, and when the kisses he gives taste so sweet. The sweetest he thinks he’s ever had.

DIMENTIO CONFESSION ANON HERE!! Omg thank you so much for pointing me towards Garson and Carson because it turns out I wasn’t misremembering things!!! The story of the pixl uprising was what I was thinking about!
So my theory is that the son of the magician who made his dead wife into the pixl queen revived his son in the same way. This is because he mentions that the son might have survived and that him or his bloodline were still around. This is strange since this points towards no-one in particular and doesn’t relate to anything.
SO! My theory was that dimentio was the magician’s son, revived in the same way the pixl queen was and immediately being taken by the same despair that caused her to lash out and attempt to destroy the Ancients. After she was defeated he decided to lie in wait and design a better plan, and that’s why it took him several millennia to strike because he was much more careful and calculating than she was with her uprising. So I guess that would make dimentio a pixl-lich thing, which explains why he always wears the mask and an outfit that covers him completely since pixls are really distinct in appearance.
YES YES YES PERFECT. that's the one!! a lot of people theorize some sort of connection between the magician's son and dimentio- him being a pixl-esque creature would certainly explain why hes been kickin it for so long! at the end of the day though... we just never knoooow
the son and daughter do just seem to stick out SO much though, don't they? like sure, the daughter is the pixl queen, who is part of the lore origin of the pixls, but shadoo, the flopside pit boss, having the same "robot" text bubble that characters like fracktail do... hmmmmm... shadoo wanting revenge on the ancients... hmmmmm... the story lore-dropping that the magician had a son for no real reason because it's not relevant to the pixl queen story that much... HMMMMM...

headcanons for shadoo because I’m insane
first off here’s my ancient and shadow designs for it, I’ve already drawn the Pixl Queen design but I don’t think I’m entirely happy with it
it’s okay with any pronouns but prefers it/its. it’s also agender, asexual, demiromantic, and intersex.
the magician’s son theory applies, and also the theory that it’s the Pixl Queen, but considering it talks about wanting to use the pixls to get revenge I’m pretty sure the latter theory is pretty much canon
almost forgot, it has the same facial expressions as its sibling
the ancients are a different species than humans in my hc so it’s not human
though really it’s not even entirely ancient either, it and Dimentio were created as homunculi with the ink of the Dark Prognosticus, which gave it oddly sharp teeth, black blood (not shown here), black eyes, and ensured it would return from death with a shadowy form
that’s also connected to how it died, its illness was its shadow body taking over its ancient body. I like to imagine it breaking out of its own body after it dies (Dimentio died some time before it did btw)
the best way I can think of to describe its body composition and feel is a really weird middle ground between solid, liquid, and gas, made weirder by how it fluctuates between being closer to one state to another. it’s cold to the touch since it’s undead, overall not a fun experience to even poke at, and it doesn’t like physical contact all that much anyway.
I will admit I may have poor little meow meowed it a bit, as my headcanons and au have the pixls go with it willingly rather than mind control, I do think there’s some kinda fucked up implications with the pixls being servants brought back from the dead so I feel they’d be rightfully pissed at the ancients
it’s still homicidal don’t worry :3
it was particularly close with Piccolo both before and after death, and Piccolo made a music box or something similar for it when it got thrown in the Pit of 100 Trials so it could sleep away the years
as a being created from the Prognosticus’s pages (which it resents), it has gained power from the Void’s creation…
I actually have an au of SPM I wanna write eventually but due to a variety of complications including writing insecurities and a pipe dream to make a fangame out of it I doubt it will get published soon, so I’ll just share some hcs of its most obscure character so I can talk about au stuff a little bit.
#these are probably a lot less than they could’ve been but I’m really tired :(#super paper mario#shadoo#pixl queen#wyvere draws

Full honest options on dimentio?
Looks at you like this
Autistic Answer: OHH YM GODODDODHRKEJTJTKTJR LAYS FLAT ON MY BSCK ON A HIGHWAY HESSOOO FUCKINGGNCOOOOOL RUNS FULL SPEED AT A. BRICK WALL AND JUMPS THROUGH LEAVING A CLOUD OF DUST AND A SHAPE OF MYSELF IN THE WALL IN MY WAKE I LOVE HIM SO MUCH HES SO INTERESTING AND LOSER PILLED I NEED HIM EMBROIDERED ON MY ARM
Autistic Answer:
Okay so at the start of my spm special interest when I was a tiny little googoogaga baby (seven years old) Dimentio was just. This guy. Evil and shit but just a guy. But he was MY guy. I don’t remember beating the game that young. I seriously think I gave up on the yold desert puzzle and just binged koopakungfu let’s plays over and over again but regardless I remember the aftermath and GODDDDDDDDDD I was so indescribably enamored with this Thing . it was REVOLTING.
Now as a near 19 year old I can’t think about him or the game in general without having to stop drop and roll but at the end of the day, Dimentio is still just some guy. But in the morning and the afternoon he’s a fucking idiot. Like you absolute goofiest of goobers, all you had to do was teleport the heroes to Dimension D and wait everything out. That shit is why he’s currently burning in hell. Not for mass murder or being annoying but for the stupidest plan I have ever heard in my entire life. He is also one of the most intriguing characters ever made in the Mario franchise.
Like okay. You are given this purple and yellow triangular smudge on your screen and you go “hmm… (scratches chin) something is Wrong With This Animal. It Might be Sick.” And of course he ends up betraying the sympathetic tragic villain Bleckie Bear and dies (thank GOD) whatever credits roll NO!!!!
FIRST. This guy tells you Bleck has lied about creating new worlds. That is . THAT IS!!! Now he could be lying but he could also NOT be. After all, what other motivation would he have for betraying Bleck? All the worlds to himself perhaps …………………. That’s the thing. You don’t know . That’s this entire character.
You
DONT.
KNOW.
Anything he says and anything about him is either a blatant lie, COULD be a lie, COULD be the truth, or is vague 3,000 year old information given from this dude in a bar that may or may not even be about Dimentio. He is LITERALLY wearing a mask. A TWO FACED MASK might I add.
Nintendo doesn’t lay out his story for you on screen like they do with Bleck. If you don’t take the time to explore, Dimentio will never be more than Bleck’s silly and funny-talking minion who betrayed him out of greed or.. whatever reason. Because he didn’t say it. No no- You have to go out of your way to investigate and pay money and put pieces of this puzzle together to find out that hurt people hurt people (🤓)
He could be some random bloke. He could the descendant of this sad unnamed character and somehow “never found happiness” whatever THAT means. He could be THE sad unnamed character that went through an accident so devastating that it left his mother dead and it left everyone believing HE was dead. This accident, whatever it was, was so horrifying that Dimentio, who can teleport across dimensions, was unable (by choice or not) to find and tell his remaining family he was alive. After his “death”, his sister would die as well. Their father, likely going insane with unimaginable grief, would rip her soul from the afterlife just to keep his only child- the only family he had left- with him, oblivious to the fact that somewhere, his son was still alive. This little girl, now forever trapped as a Pixl, would become so angry at what her father had done that she would start a war and slaughter ANYONE that tried to get in her way. The Pixl Queen- this angry, scared, and confused child- would lose once more. She would be destroyed. All she is now is a shadow of her former self. And that’s what she would reform as in the pits below an Ancient city, where, at the hands of our heroes, she would lose AGAIN. Dimentio could be oblivious to all of this. He could know a fraction of it. He could know all of it. He could hold no guilt. He could blame himself for what had happened to her, for he had been gone all those years- whatever that means.
He could want to destroy everyone and everything out of personal gain- to recreate them all in his image and rule them as he sees fit all because he is a greedy narcissist. He could want to destroy everyone and everything because, like Blumiere, he sees no point in anything after losing all he loved in all worlds. Maybe he betrayed Blumiere because Dimentio wanted to rule a timeline that goes his way and ONLY his way. Maybe “his way” is where he gets all he wanted in riches, in wealth, in a population that essentially worships him, and so on. After all, he does say that he wants to be king of all worlds. Maybe that isn’t everything he wants. After all, he doesn’t just wipe out everyone in all dimensions and create mindless followers using the Dark Prognosticus that is capable of doing that exact thing. No. Like Blumiere, Dimentio, too, wants the worlds gone. Erased. All of them. The worlds that caused that accident. killed his mom. “killed” him. killed his sister. And in these self-described and self-created perfect new worlds, his timeline, his way, where he can create anything and anyone he wants- maybe he isn’t alone anymore. Whatever that means.
In my full honest opinion, I think he is SO .FUCKING. COOL.
#I’m sorry anon I’m so sorry for that#i go through phases where this game makes me (taps the sign) furiously rattle bars of my cage#and you just happened to catch me in one of those times#maybe it’s nearly 4 am and I need to stfu and go honk shooooo#spm

the underchomp was a fun change of pace but i think there should have been additional challenges like that
It was definitely suprising. I'll say though, being introduced to a one time game mechanic with its own rules spontaneously can throw people off.
I remember watching someones playthrough and they weren't exactly sure what to do in this situation since before that you don't really have an effect sheet/description for certain things and, well, before you really didnt have to worry about getting hit since you had the ability to dodge. In this case you're locked in place. The person died to it and then realised they can apparently use the Pixls in this fight which turned out extremely useful, maybe even crucial. You have the stats of characters IF you examine them with Tippi or have a card but otherwise you're left guessing.
Overall if challenges like that more present in the game it would add variety but more doesn't always mean better. SPM already mixes a lot of styles, from the Brobot fight in space being a shooter, Fracktail being dynamic in 2D and 3D simultaneously, and the Underchomp like you mentioned. Maybe there are a few more that I don't remember but it's honestly already pretty cool as it is. Maybe as additional challenges, that could work nice alongside the Pit of 100 Trials.

The above is a screenshot of one of tropes from Shadoo's section in the SPM TV Tropes page that caught my interest.
“Never mentioned to be killed...” Hm. If I go by my headcanon of how Dimentio fits into the story of the Pixl Uprising (i.e he's both the Magician's son and the surviving apprentice who defeated the Pixl Queen), then that would give another parallel of how Dimentio was once a hero who had a Pixl that could see the truth who stopped an antagonist who had the Dark Prognosticus who several thousand years later switched sides. And by another parallel, I mean it works perfectly alongside this.
The reason Shadoo exists (if they are the Pixl Queen) is because he couldn't go through with killing his sister; he cared for her too much and now here she is stuck at the bottom of the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials and wanting to exact revenge on the Ancients for sealing her away. Based on how Shadoo has a robotic text box and says that they were created by the Ancients, it can be presumed she forgot she was ever human. She forgot who she was.
Fast forward to the events of SPM and Dimentio's intended kill-shot for Count Bleck gets intercepted by Nastasia and knocks her unconscious in addition to injuring her. Either he had the power of that shot just enough to kill Bleck and no further and that's why Nastasia survived, because why waste precious energy? All he has to do is finish Count Bleck off who is already at death’s door thanks to the heroes.
Or Nastasia was just very fortunate to survive a full-powered blast. My money's on something like the former because Dimentio has well more than enough power to absolutely guarantee no one would survive an attack like that. (the average person who isn't a hero or built for combat— which Nastasia very much isn't— anyway.)
Then there's him saving O'Chunks and Mimi from what would have been certain death by teleporting them to Dimension D. We know they didn't end up in the same place as Peach and Bowser because neither they nor O'Chunks and Mimi make any mention of such. Pair that with the fact that the Void can't be seen from Dimension D and thus heavily implying that anyone inside it would survive the Void that would destroy everything else, and you're left with the only explanation of Dimentio having saved them. I do believe that Dimentio screwed up by not only "catching feelings" and he genuinely did care for the other minions deep down as much as he tries to deny that; and I have mentioned in a prior post about him putting all of the people who could have possibly done something about the Super Dimentio fusion in the same place.
If he hadn't cared as much as he did for them and just left them to their fates, he would have won. I feel that the reason why the floor came out under Bowser and O'Chunks is because of Dimentio— because why make a trap like that that is intended to kill any who don't make it out in time and then have it to where after a certain amount of time, it would give any of the heroes still inside who may somehow still be alive an escape and make a comeback? It makes no sense. And it's because of that, that Peach was able to survive by landing on top of Bowser.
Had he only teleported Bowser out and left O'Chunks, and teleported Peach while leaving Mimi, the minions wouldn't have been able to band together with Count Bleck and Tippi to recharge the Pure Hearts and destroy his invincibility. It was his inability to go through with killing them or just letting them die because he actually cared about them— cared too much— that caused his own undoing.
History literally repeats itself if one subscribes to believing Dimentio is both the Magician's son and the last surviving apprentice.
First Shadoo who may or may not be the Pixl Queen, was spared by her brother who couldn't bear to go through with killing her therefore causing future consequences for if she ever gets free. Then the minions— including Nastasia and Count Bleck who for the latter, Dimentio in his ever present wisdom decided to spare killing for later— with their love for each other that was allowed to continue existing all because he spared them for the time being, recharged the Pure Hearts and caused immediate consequences for himself and was the catalyst for his defeat.
In the first instance, he was on the “heroic” side. For the last he was on the “villainous” side.
#super paper mario#spm#spm theory#dimentio#shadoo#pixl queen#this is ofc just a theory since dimentio is an enigma but i see parallels and go 👀#and also ofc things like nastasia surviving dimentio's kill-shot is just my interpretation of how she did so#and then there's the (fairly popular?) fanon that dimentio teleported mimi and o'chunks to dimension d rather than them flip in on their ow#but we know that they couldn't have done so on their own— at least not o'chunks who is consistently shown to be incapable of flipping#and flipping seems to /only/ work on the person themself and can't be used on selected targets (if that makes sense). dimentio is special#bc he's the only character who is shown to always /teleport/‚ not flip. and we are explicitly shown a scene of him clearly using his#teleportation on peach (he uses his teleportation on mr. l and the other heroes when he explodes them but it's disguised by said#explosions due to how distinct it is and considering how for many years a vast majority of the spm fandom believes he /actually/ killed the#when jaydes herself literally says otherwise‚ those examples of him teleporting people other than himself doesn't count) anyway. point is:#even if mimi could flip in on her own‚ o'chunks wouldn't have been able to get in. probably. bc tippi /does/ show the ability to flip#both herself and the heroes to flipside on several occasions‚ but this ability isn't displayed by /anyone else/ throughout the game so#it's not farfetched to believe that /only/ tippi can flip other people in addition to herself#so i still firmly believe dimentio was responsible for mimi and o'chunks getting into dimension d at the end (plus it's /his/ dimension‚ i#think he has full control over whether someone can or can't enter it)#i did not mean to put an entire essay in the tags oh no

Mimi hot takes
So Mimi is most certainly an enigmatic character in SPM, but is unfortunately overshadowed by the more mysterious Dimentio when it comes to lore discussion. I think there’s plenty to look into when it comes to her however, and I intend to do so here! Discussion under the cut
So really all we have to go off of for Mimi lore is what Carson proposes, which is that she’s either a failed pixl experiment, or the unintended creation of a witch researching shapeshifting potions. I will be real with you, when I first read this I immediately discredited the witch theory due to how out-of-left-field it is. However, I do have a couple things to say on it, but we will have to talk about it later. Let’s investigate the failed-pixl theory. So what do we know about pixls?
Other than the 12 pixls we see ingame, the only bout of pixl lore we get is again from Carson. Here he talks about the pixl war, led by the pixl queen who mind controlled the many pixls to do her bidding and aid in her revolution against the ancients, their creators. During the uprising, the pixl queen successfully overthrew and enslaved the ancients. It’s revealed later on in Carson’s story that the pixl queen was likely the product of the master magician, creator of the 12 original pixls. He created her in an attempt to bring his daughter back to life by placing her soul in the body of a pixl. The pixl queen was so appalled by her fathers actions (that is, robbing pixls of their deaths just to be put into tools to be used), that she wanted to stop it from ever happening again.
The pixl queen was later “vanquished” by one of the master magician’s apprentices, and is heavily implied to be Shadoo, the boss of the flopside pit of 100 trials (see my Dimentio lore post for more on that; I discuss Shadoo in detail there). I suppose the best question to ask would be: what does “vanquish” even mean?
Well, we know that Shadoo is nothing but a cloud of shadow, somewhat reminiscent of a shayde in the Underwhere. If Shadoo is the soul of the pixl queen, what happened to the pixl vessel?
Well, we know that the pixl queen was to be created as a vessel for an ancient’s child. We see many depictions of ancients and ancients’ descendents in-game, one of which is Nastasia. In ‘Of bats and men’, Carson describes the story of a man looking for his lost love saving a bat and the bat transforming into ‘one of his people’ to be with him. This story is all-but-said to be about Nastasia and Count Bleck, a member of the tribe of darkness, which itself is an offshoot of the tribe of ancients. Nastasia has a notably blocky head, thin limbs and beady black eyes (see XXX for Nastasia’s eyes). This is reminiscent of Flipside’s citizens, most notably the children/teenagers,
All of which rather look like Mimi (aside from the noses, but we see Nastasia, a member of the tribe of darkness and as such a more ‘pure-blooded’ ancient, has no nose. None of the sage murals of direct descendants of the ancients have visible noses either. Same argument can be made for these children having no arms and Nastasia having them). It would make sense, considering the pixl vessel was made to house the spirit of the master magician’s daughter who died young. Mimi is clearly an automaton at the very least, as evidenced by the otherwise random gears churning in her head in her spider form. Perhaps her ‘true form’ is what the pixl queen looked like.
Approaching from another angle, the Pixl queen was said to have ‘illusionary powers’ that she used to hide. In my Dimentio post I compared this to Dimentio’s invisibility which he uses to eavesdrop on people, but upon second glance I think this illusionary power would be more akin to turning into something else to hide. Shadoo has no physical form, and their entire boss fight is spent taking on the shape of our four main heroes, Mimi’s most notable power.
I think Mimi doesn’t know this about herself. I think she was probably a vessel that wasn’t supposed to ever wake up, thrown in the garbage along with the other pixls after the events of the pixl uprising, but did. Now she fumbles around in the world trying to find meaning and personhood despite being a vessel for a person who isn’t there. Carson’s information on her states that “Mimi has the ability to mimic any person she wants to... She's so good at it I hear she even sometimes forgets who she is…”. I think it goes deeper than this. I don’t think she has a ‘who’ whatsoever. She just copies what people would expect from her, a teenage girl, hence her almost comical obsession with boys and gems, and forced crush on the count (at least it feels forced to me).
With this in mind, I quite like that Mimi’s first appearance is her imprisoning and usurping the domain of an ancient (or an ancient’s descendant rather), as well as enslaving a population into doing her bidding (the prisoners of Merlee’s mansion), just as the pixl queen did. She’s obviously not aware of this, but from a meta perspective I find it very interesting.
OTHER CONNECTIONS AND IDEAS:
Perhaps Mimi WAS the witch experimenting with shapeshifting? Carson’s theory certainly never said that the witch and her creation were separate entities. Maybe this is what caused the thousand-year delay between the master magician putting his daughter’s soul into a pixl, and the pixl queen’s uprising (stated to be 3,000 and 2,000 years ago respectively). The daughter attempted to be able to unlock shapeshifting, and the product of that skill was the pixl uprising, which led to Mimi. There’s also the fact that Mimi inflicts a curse on Merlee’s mansion, which to me has always felt a little strange given Mimi’s powers and overall vibes. But in this light, ‘cursing’ is definitely a witchy thing to do! Maybe this word choice was meant to evoke the witch idea.
This is more of a linguistic choice and I’m only familiar with the english translation so take it with a grain of salt, but I found it quite odd that the pixl queen was first described as having the “demonic” spirit placed in the pixl vessel. “Demon” just felt like an odd choice of words, especially when there are actual demon characters in the game (D-men in the Underwhere). This connection may be a bit of a stretch, however in the Merlee trivia game at the end of chapter 2, Mimi can be asked a myriad of questions that are likely her honest answers (aside from a couple, like her saying mario is “her type of guy”. This is clearly buttering up the crowd). The answer I’m talking about specifically is one in which she says her favourite animal is a demon. I don’t see how this would convince Mario that she’s the real Merlee, and is likely her just being honest. This is the only other time “demon” is mentioned in the game outside of chapter 7. On a thematic level, it’s interesting to think of what her referring to a demon as a pet could mean. When she was a ‘demon’, she was a pixl. Did ancients treat the pixls like pets? Maybe similar to how we treat roombas (a tool-pet combo)? Mimi likely isn’t aware of this connection and just said the first thing that came to her mind, unaware of its grim origins.

wait why did his sister wish death upon her niece? for the silly goofys????
She hates Dimentio
But also fears him to a degree since in my telling of his story
He was the one who ended up defeating her and putting the end to the pixl war
And sealed her away for years upon years in the pit of 100 trials
So when she escaped after Mario and co beat her
She found out not only Dimentio was still alive
But he had kids too
So one day she tried killing Vanity who was a baby at the time
Failed
And then got beaten by Dimentio again

Super Paper Peach
After Mario 64, Yoshi’s island, Mario galaxy, Luigi’s mansion, we have now Super Paper Peach!
In this AU, Dimentio switches places with Mimi, and O' Chunks with Nastacia, but only Count Black and Tippi remain the same, we will also have Mrs. D.
And here is the story’s game
Super Paper Peach opens with Count Bleck abducting Bowsetta and Prince Mario and forcing the two to marry. Their union, as foretold by the Dark Prognosticus, summons the Chaos Heart. Bleck takes control of the Chaos Heart and uses it to open the Void, a slowly expanding inter-dimensional rift, in order to destroy the flawed universe and create a perfect one in its place.
Peach is teleported to Flipside by Tippi and is tasked by Merlon to collect the eight Pure Hearts, which are necessary to undo the destruction. Peach, after learning the ability to flip between dimensions, starts his journey with Tippi at his side, traveling to the different worlds to collect them.
During the adventure, Peach reunites with Mario and Bowsetta, who join her in the quest. Bleck sends his minions, Mimi, Dimentio, and Nastacia, as well as a brainwashed Daisy, to attack Peach's group and slow their progress. -
Daisy eventually recovers her memories and is the last to join Peach's group. Peach succeeds in collecting all eight Pure Hearts, but not before the Void grows large enough to obliterate one of the worlds.
In flashbacks, it is revealed that Count Bleck and Tippi were originally lovers Blumiere and Timpani. Blumiere's father, disapproving of their relationship, banished and cursed Timpani to wander between dimensions forever. Blumiere, in despair, took control of the Dark Prognosticus, determined to bring end to the universe. Unbeknownst to him, Merlon found and rescued Timpani by transforming her into a Pixl, but she had lost her memories. The two slowly realize the other's identity over the course of the game.
With all eight Pure Hearts, the heroes travel to Castle Bleck. They encounter each of Bleck's minions but are lost one-by-one: Bowsetta and Nastacia are seemingly crushed by a falling ceiling; Mario and Dimentio fall into a pit; and Mimi appears to kill both himself and Daisy. Peach and Tippi confront Bleck alone; Tippi reveals herself to be Timpani, but Bleck refuses to end his plan.
The other heroes return and defeat Bleck by using up the power of the Pure Hearts. Bleck, returning to his Blumiere identity, urges the heroes to kill him to destroy the Chaos Heart and avert the apocalypse; however, it is seized by Mimi, who seemingly kills Bleck's assistant O’Chunks and brainwashes Daisy into serving as the host of the Chaos Heart. Blumiere and Tippi are teleported away, and the remaining heroes appear overmatched without the power of the Pure Hearts; however, the love between Blumiere, Nastacia and Dimentio restores their power.
Mimi is destroyed but leaves behind a shadow of her power to ensure the Chaos Heart can finish its task. Blumiere and Timpani marry, which banishes the Chaos Heart and reverses its destruction. The heroes, along with Nastacia, Dimentio, and a revived O’Chunks, return to Flipside, but Blumiere and Timpani are missing; Nastacia, Dimentio, and O’ Chunks pledge to create the perfect world Blumiere promised to make.

Does shadoo remember dimentio?
I thought about this for some time now.
So welcome to the "Camprell being mentally ill about his own fanlore" show!
I'm gonna put a read more here because it got soooooooo long.
1st option!
I can do it the extra painful way, that would be if they don't remember but still meet each other, and there is a probability that the whole ordeal with the Pixl Queen happens again, Shadoo is a living killing machine, she's locked behind all those walls and doors for a reason. But I don't like this one very much because it's too bland, and not just bland but a bit out of the plot, like, why would they even meet if nobody remembers anything?
2nd option!
This one can go in two ways, it could be like this story here, I would change some parts of it today, but essentially it's this, Dimentio goes there, says her name, she gets curious and then maybe they would talk... Buuut, this one would not make so much sense in the new characterization, my Dimentio was much more sensitive, more sad than insane? More depressed than psychotic or neurotic? I'll do better research about this, so you can correct me if I'm wrong.
3rd option!
This one is more tricky, because I would have to figure out what to do with the Dark Prognosticus, where the hell did the book go? Did it disappear? Was the Chaos Heart the ultimate point of it? Because I do believe that the DP, contrary to its Light counterpart, wasn't written by anyone, maybe created by something, however, considering that the thing can't keep its records forever (or else the book would be enormous), the only scenario that makes sense is that it is erased and written by itself, making the book more of an entity than an object.
If the DP is gone, then Dimentio can have other thoughts in his head that aren't obscured by the thing talking in it, so maybe some of his memories could slowly start to make sense, his dreams would come back to the "traumatic state", rather than blurry visions of a future that is near.
When I say traumatic state, I mean those memories that are very deep in his mind, the ones that actually explain all the actions and decisions he made in the past. Even the curse would have a meaning, he always thought it was some magic corruption because he kept coming back, but then, after a lot of dreams, he would discover that it wasn't entirely that.
Shadoo is literally what would happen to him if the curse was complete, in her case it was way faster, since the only reason she is alive was because she became a Pixl with the help of the Prognosticus. When Pixl Queen Shadoo dies again, all that is left is a shadow of herself, the thing in the end of the Pits is just her soul. If someone killed her for real, she would just turn into a glittery dust and fade from reality, no Underwhere, no Overthere. But I believe that for this immortal "creature" this is the best ending she could have.
So Dimentio would probably kill her just to end her suffering, and I think that Shadoo wouldn't even be scared if this does happen, all that she wanted was revenge, but there's no reason to do that when your brother came back and you finally can rest after so many years of isolation and loneliness.
Sorry for possible redundancies and grammatical errors + typos + wrong words, I'm so sleepy and I'm lazy to correct and read my own text. X)

Super Paper Swap: Ch. 1-3 (OLD)
Word Count: 2,357
Chapter Summary: The journey to the Pure Heart continues deep in the Deserts of Yold.
A quick and inelegant sneeze emerged from Luigi as the warm winds of the Yold Desert blew sand into his face. Luigi, Blecky, and the other pixls continued their search for the Pure Heart with the expansive desert ahead.
Chapter 1-3: The Sands of Yold
Believing they had removed the terror of Yold Town had filled Team Luigi with a sense of accomplishment and the determination to push forward towards their goal, despite the intensity of the sun above. The journey, of coarse, would be a long one since the Yold Desert was, well, a desert; to fix this problem, Luigi decided that everyone should tell stories and get to know each other.
Blecky, to start off, was Merlee's loyal helper; he was created by Merlee and held a incredibly strong psychic link with her, he went around Flipside to send messages between Merlee and the townsfolk while she studied the Light Prognosticus. He did other miscellaneous things like take care of the cat he found, whom he dubbed 'Voidslayer', but that was about it.
Next was Laddie, who considered themself to be a curiosity of life, having been created alongside Boomer and several other pixls, but as a failed prototype. Their activation after continuous failures was unexplainable, especially since they first awoke after the activation of the other pixls and should not have been able to live. They were considered a miracle, but they suffered from an 'obsessive desire to be free', that even they couldn't comprehend.
Following Laddie was Boomer, who plainly stated himself as a 'straight up pyromaniac'. Despite his tendency to destroy everything in sight, he had a soft spot for his friends.
Finally, Luigi introduced himself with the typical self-claims about being a normal person that wants to make life better for others. Plain and simple.
While Blecky's stories of his shenanigans were humorous, Laddie's stories of his psychic link with Bestovius and Bozzo were heartwarming and Boomer's stories of carnage were therapy-worthy, everyone agreed that Luigi's tales of heroism were the most interesting and exhilarating. His accomplishments against Peaches tyranny and bravery against incomprehensible creatures was admirable to say the least; the sharing of personal events brought the normally dysfunctional team
Aside from several aggressive goombas and the ever-terrible squig, the only new enemy the team had to worry about was the common bald cleft, a sentient rock with feet and a tough defensive stat. They weren't very bright and could easily be tricked into falling into quicksand or into one of Boomer's explosions.
After their tenth encounter with a bald cleft, Luigi decided to ask Blecky about the creature in Yold Town; apparently it was called a Shlurp, but it was, curiously enough, not native to the Linelands, causing the group to wonder how such a creature had managed to travel dimensions.
Before they could try to find an explaination for such phenomena, however, Bestovius appeared behind them, saying he wanted to make sure the group made their way to the Yold Ruins in safety; he spoke like he did when they first met, with lots of pompous, and Laddie seemed to shift uncomfortably in his presence, like something wasn't right. Help was help however, so they let him follow.
This would immediately prove to be a bad idea as every action Bestovius made seemed to slow down the group's progress and bring attention to hoards of enemies. Not only that, but Laddie continued to complain about their psychic link with Bestovius being nonexistent, which only happened if a pixl was too far away from a master or if said master is deceased. Bestovius was alive and obviously nearby, so the lack of a connection was bizarre.
There had even been a scenario where there was a large, unavoidable pit of quicksand that could only, by process of elimination, be passed through within the Next. Bestovius refused to lend his power to lead them across, instead insisting that Laddie do it so they could get use to the Flip technique, something that the mentioned pixl claimed as uncharacteristic for the wizard.
Nonetheless, they trudged onward.
Bestovius commanded the group to stop. They obliged, hoping that he would make himself useful as the team approached the end of their wits.
"What could possibly be your reason for us to stop here of all places?! There's nothing here but sand and palm trees!" Blecky finally spoke up.
"It's important that you stop here." The wizard said. His voice sounding out of place.
"There is a giant, world consuming hole in the sky Bestovius! If you insist on us stopping here, then please, for our sakes, enlighten us on what good this will do."
"This will do much good little bat." He looked at them emptily.
Bestovius then disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke, and in his place was Mimi, dressed in robe that looked appropriate for desert travel. The glare she gave the group was cold enough to make the dunes themselves become ice.
"Mimimimi. You were all quite foolish to fall for my trap. Granted, it's hard to assume the recent behavior of someone as off-putting when you barely know them."
"Who in the name of the makers are you?!" Laddie blurted out.
"Looks like a troublemaker to me." Luigi replied, his hammer tightly clenched in his hand.
"You'd be very much correct hero. I am Mimi, professional shapeshifter and one of Mistress Tempo's four highest ranked followers. I've been given a rather simple job today, so I'd appreciate it if you'd submit before it's too late and let me capture you. It would save us both the time and energy of having to fight." Mimi spoke with utmost seriousness and kept all eye contact on her target. Every word she spoke was deprived of joy or youth.
"Over our dead bodies!" Called out Boomer, who was shaking in anticipation for a battle to stir as he sensed his boss's preparation to attack. Luigi silently lifted his hammer and marched a few steps forward, his eyes filled with a courageous fire.
"So be it then. Come forward prophetic hero, and face my true form!" Mimi boasted before violently snapping her neck.
The woman's head then spun over her shoulders like and owl, but rapidly with spasmodic movements from the upper body and the gruesome organic sounds of bones cracking. The head bent backwards mid-spin, pausing with the face in the direction of its provokers; the eyes were now empty pits, the mouth was in a crooked grin, and the ponytail swung like a dead snake on a branch instead of swaying in the wind like hair normally would.
The body went limp as the sides of the head burst from a protrusion of spindly arachnid limbs, a pair from the front had green claw-like extensions while the ponytail curved upward like the tail of a scorpion, the very tip of it tinted with a color akin to black nightshade berries.
The horrifying scorpion creature made a gruesome sounding cackle before charging towards the group, who all immediately dodged out of the way either in fear or by instinct. When her initial attacked failed, she used her claws to dig into the sand, concealing her and making it more difficult to be harmed.
The tail sprung out behind Luigi and swung itself at him, stinger first. The impact left the burning feeling of poison coursing through his veins before the tail sunk back in the sand. The plumber tried in vain to attack but would end up missing or getting hit before he could retaliate; he eventually had to use an item he had gotten at the store in Yold Town, it healed him of the damage he took and cured him of his poisoned status, bringing him back to his peak.
All they had to do now was actually land a hit on the hiding shapeshifter. Laddie took the group to the Next, and was surprised to see their foe there as well. Fortunately, the Next provided them with a method to attack Mimi in the form of ripples in the sand.
Boomer dropped himself when the ripples appeared in front of Luigi, the resulting explosion forced Mimi to leave her hiding place and attack on land, where her lack of eyes and reliance on the movement in the ground made her eyesight significantly lacking. She attempted to use the vibrations on the surface and shot a barrage of poison-covered onyxes from her tail towards the direction of most movement.
The precious stones narrowly missed the intended target who responded with a throwing a certain bomb-shaped pixl into the arachnid's face. The blow was so powerful it detached one of its recipient's legs, leaving her with only seven legs and two claws. This gave Luigi an idea as Mimi dug back underground from the pain.
Instead of going to the next, Luigi searched for even the slightest movements in the sand, when the movements were right underneath him, the tail would appear to sting him, where he would dodge the stinger. He'd place Boomer when Mimi began to get too close, ensuring her to rise out of the grainy earth and once again shoot rocks at him. Then he'd either use Boomer or his hammer to knock another leg off of the enemy until only the claws remains.
Without legs to move, Mimi used her tail to shoot onyxes and then her claws to attack short range. A well placed explosion when the claws began to snap easily removed the last of her limbs as she flailed pitifully in the sand.
The purple clouds engulfed the grotesque head as Mimi returned to her other form, noticeably leaning to one side and clutching one of her arms in pain.
"I suppose I have been beat then. No matter, we will retaliate with more power in due time." She said, the words straining to leave her mouth.
"We'll fight as many of you freaks as we need too!" Blecky retorted, "We aren't scared! We'll fight the Void itself if we have too!"
"I'd like to see you try, little bat. It would give us a good laugh at least. I'll take my leave now." And just like that, she teleported out of the scorching desert.
Blecky was visibly steaming in anger at the shapeshifter's snarky attitude towards him. He glared at the Void before finally speaking again.
"Luigi, you know what this means right?"
"We're being hunted down by the Mistress?"
"No. We have to fight the Void."
"DO WHAT?!"
"SHE INSULTED MY SIZE LUIGI THIS MEANS WAR!"
It was at this point forward that Blecky became determined to physically fight the Void with his own two claws and would not hesitate to drag everyone he know along for the ride, all because someone had referred to him as small.
Void fighting shenanigans aside, Luigi had a Pure Heart to find, and moved further into the desert as his riled up bat companion and other two pixls followed suit.
With the battlefield far behind them, the group entered a strong sandstorm. They halted at a unusually tall palm tree with crimson leaves when it became obvious that the wind was becoming too intense. Climbing the tree was utterly useless, the wind was just as powerful at the top of the tree, making the storm just as unnavigable.
They continued forward in search for the ruins, but were halted by a large creature that hid in the storm. Without a way to see, the group fell back and looked elsewhere, finding a stone statue soon after.
"'Pluck from the tree of red palms a stalk of its crimson growths. It's opaqueness and the storm are but an illusion.'" Luigi carefully read aloud the inscriptions on the statue's worn top half. The bottom half was less buffered by the wind and read, "'The tail of a Jawbust is a dousing rod and a key to never-ending love.'"
Although the information given by both carvings was somewhat confusing, Luigi kept this information in mind when he trekked back to the red palm tree.
Utilizing his expert climbing skills, he carefully scaled the Arecaceae until he was able to reach one of its bright leaves.
The leaves were indeed less opaque then they appeared when Luigi held the one he grasped up to his eyes. It was like looking through a pair of literal rose-tinted glasses, except the only good thing that could be seen was a lack of any sandstorm; the storm was completely invisible, allowing him to navigate through it with ease.
They met the large enemy from before, a purple dragon creature. Blecky was able to confirm it as a jawbust, a though skinned monster whose only weakness was its bright glowing bulb on its tail. Naturally, Luigi did what he was best at and slammed his hammer onto the bulb, forcing it to writhe in agony. The ferocious jawbust couldn't withstand the pain and ripped it's tail off its body to stop its suffering.
Boomer assured our hero that it was completely normal for one to feel guilty about leaving a jawbust to its ultimate demise, but said plumber was too busy squeamishly picking up the discarded tail to notice and continued to feel guilty about it regardless.
On the upside, the beast was now gone, allowing them to go in the direction it was blocking. Lo and behold was the Yold Ruins just ahead, constructed out an ancient kind of brick. The sealed entrance was the maw of a gargantuan stone dragon keeping watch of the marine blue platform in front of it.
Luigi stood onto the platform, as if by instinct, and pulled out the jawbust's tail. The bulb fit perfectly into a circular indention in the platform's center. When nothing happened, Luigi removed the bulb, activating a mechanism in the entranceway that allowed the dragon's maw to open wide. A chilly breeze escaped its rocky throat.
Glancing at his awed partners, Luigi stuffed the tail and the red palm leaf into a reserved location in his bag for important items and took a bold step into the prophetic ruins.

Not a hot take but a Mario Confession that I don’t know where to put anywhere else: I’ve spent like 10 years now with a theory for Dimentio’s origin that I assumed was based on evidence in-game. Like it came from super obscure, rare dialogue that you had to piece together from different side characters, tippi’s scan abilities, and background art in the ruins. I held to this theory very strongly and thought it had a strong foundation. Anyway I replayed SPM recently and I could not find any of the stuff that pointed to what I theorized. I am now haunted by the possibility that I read a fanfic explanation when I was 13 and interpreted it as canon then forgot about it, like that one fake greek goddess on tumblr.
I may not be knowledgeable enough at the game to find the specific dialogue again. Or it could just straight up not exist. I could be struggling to find information online because this game isn’t talked about very much. Or. It could straight up not exist. The possibility is mortifying.
OH MAN. from what i can remember, tippi is never able to tattle on dimentio *directly* (which is by design, you purposely only ever fight him when tippi is unavailable to you) and the only ruins background art i can think of are the flipside and flopside pit of 100 trials? there is the Pixl Queen story from garson the bartender where you learn about a bunch of characters who seemingly never appear and some theorize it might be about dimentio but i think that legit might be it. i think you might have accidentally been beholden to a fabrication
have you ever played a game and noticed a strange piece of dialogue? or art? /ref

I haven't gotten too far into the comic so idk if she's there, but Shadoo for the ask thing?
First impression:
i actually never encountered shadoo at all in-game! i didn't do any of the postgame and didn't do most of the optional stuff because i left my save file right before the final boss so i could watch the ending over and over. it was... before you could find everything on youtube lol.
Impression now:
interesting implications. if she's truly the pixl queen: absolutely horrifying implications. she must be bored out of her mind down there.
Favorite moment:
she's only got one moment, right? i'm guessing her boss fight is pretty fun- the smaller bosses are typically a little more challenging in spm because they have a little more mobility.
Idea for a story:
i had an idea that maybe timpani and nastasia would return to flipside at some point in the future... timpani wants to learn how to build a pixl tool called a "beacon," so they'd have to go to merlon. the story would be about the surviving pixls (tiptron, timpani, and shadoo) as timpani and nastasia make their way down the flopside pit to ask shadoo how to make a beacon.
Unpopular opinion:
i don't really have any strong opinions on this character to be unpopular. maybe "she's not dimentio's sister" could be one? i try to avoid connecting dimentio with the rest of the cast unless it's necessary, because i like it better when everyone comes together from across these diverse and disconnected worlds.
Favorite relationship:
her confrontation with the founder of the tribe of darkness is interesting to think about. i wonder what it looked like- what kind of illusions she tried to trap the founder in, how the founder defeated her without killing her. did they have a chance to talk about anything? did they realize they have a common enemy in the prognosticus?
Favorite headcanon:
i suppose "shadoo is the pixl queen" would technically be a headcanon, since i don't remember if that gets directly confirmed in-game or not.

SHADOO/ PIXL QUEEN HEADCANON WAAAAAAAAH!
• Original she was a girl named Dimania. After she became Shadoo, it started to be no binary.
• Shadoo was created with the Pixl Queen's remnants, the dead sister of Dimentio. She died after tried to control the Pixls because her megalomaniac ideals but the Ancients killed her after tried to abuse of the Pixl control.
• Unlike her brother Dimentio (who has NPD (Narcissist Personality Disorder) she had BPD (Borderline personality Disorder) and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder).
• She was 25 years old when she was alive.
• Dimentio tried to bring back his sister creating Shadoo. But the Ancients locked them in the Pit of 100 Levels.
• If she would have a voice actor, i think QueenCreeps from Man on the Internet would be a nice choice.
☆☆☆☆ BACKSTORY ☆☆☆☆
She was Her Daddy and Mommy's Favourite because she was more stronger and talented than her brother. One day, Dimentio manipulated his sister's mind, made her believe than her powers weren't enough: she needed more powerful kidnapping the Pixls and increasing her power of 3000 times her standards. She tried to abuse of Pixls Powers but she got killed by Ancients.
☆☆☆☆ OTHER STUFF ☆☆☆☆
At the beginning, i wanted that Dimentio became insane after his sister's death but i would make his backstory too much similar to Blumiere (he went crazy and nihilist after his love's assumed death.) So i created a different story for him. I think he became a Psychopath after touched the Dark Prognosticus, who makes you more prone to negative feelings and mental illness because it is full of dark energy).

thinking about playing spm on stream makes me so happy.
but then I'm thinking about how much I'm exactly going to play of it. definitely the entirety of the story (8 chapters. roughly 10 hours? more with dialogue)
but then past that I don't know. flipside pit of 100 trials should be a given, and Piccolo sidequest definitely (which together get all pixls).
but the thing is I could try and 100% it for the first time (I'm really close on another file. and it's like 40+ hours. if 100% on stream this will be quite the ongoing series (and very tiring (but fun) probably))
^ I've seen people speedrun spm 100%. 12 hour stream btw. but I'm not doing it one sitting so it'd be easier to handle :3
