#Pining Luffy my beloved

In response to @craneworms post about wanting more pining Luffy that crossed my dash I realized that I also want that and I was on a roll so here you go
****************
Ace tilts his head and narrows his eyes. Sanji is quick to take notice.
“Something wrong with the drink?”
“Hm?” Their temporary guest glances at him for a second before shaking his head and focusing on the lower deck again. “No, it’s great. Thanks.”
That was a distracted dismissal if Sanji has ever heard one but he is a curious guy and so he lingers next to Luffy’s big brother at the reiling and follows his gaze. There is nothing particularly interesting happening. Nami and Vivi are studying the map for their next course and Usopp and Chopper chase Karoo around in circles with something that looks like a turkey baster. That better not be Sanji’s good one, or they can swim the rest of the way to Alabaster!
A little off to the side Zoro, the big show off, trains with one of his gigantic dumbbells. He has taken his shirt off as if anyone is interested in seeing that. Ugh. Luffy sits on the reiling close by and stares at his first mate with a single minded focus that he usually reserves for food.
Ace stares at his brother with much the same amount of concentration. As if he is looking at a puzzle he can’t quite figure out.
“Is he…doing that a lot?”
“Doing what?” Sanji asks and in that moment Luffy must have said something funny because Zoro pauses in his routine and laughs loud and clear. His whole body is shaking with it and at the end of it he grins at his captain and fucking winks.
Luffy’s shoulders raise up to his ears and he squirms in his seat. His hands wander up to his brightly blushing face where he squishes his own cheeks with a goofy smile on his lips. His eyes dart around from left to right as if he can’t decide where he should direct his gaze to before he resolves the issue by grabbing his hat and pulling the brim down until only his stupid grin is visible.
“Oh.” Sanji drawls. “You mean the pining?”
Ace, who’d just taken a sip of his drink, spits it right back out. Sanji wants to say something about wasting food but the fire user is coughing and spluttering too hard to listen.
“Pining?” he gasps. “What? Luffy…my little… what are you-?”
Down below Luffy laughs at something Zoro has said in response and it’s the kind of exaggerated laugh that screams ‘This was not funny at all but I want you so bad.’
Sanji should know. He tries that all the time.
Ace looks like he is actively having an aneurysm right this moment and if he weren’t such a cool and collected guy, Sanji would be worried that he’s about to burn Zoro alive.
“Oh yeah. Be glad you don’t have to see this all the time. It’s kinda pathetic.” Well, it’s more adorable than pathetic but you won’t catch Sanji dead admitting that. It’s suddenly getting quite hot at his side and it looks like Ace’s skin is glowing from the inside with an unholy fire. Sanji might not like the Mosshead, but he doesn’t want him dead! Also, Luffy’s pouting might kill him before the Alabasta sun can. “Hey man, it’s just a small innocent crush. The idiot is too dumb to pick up on that anyway and-”
Zoro slowly bends down to pick up his dumbbell and he so fucking obviously moves his ass into Luffy’s line of sight that he might as well have painted a bullseye on the tight pants. The moment Luffy’s eyes wander down and his tongue darts out to lick at his lips, Sanji knows it’s over.
“Try not to burn the ship down.” he mutters and turns away amidst confused shouting, Ace’s screaming about his brother's innocence and Zoro cursing up a storm. “It was nice knowing you, Marimo. Kinda.”

trans girl vivi? t4t namivivi?
WAIT I LOVE THIS????????? Trans Vivi my beloved. Trans Nami my beloved. They are both trans and they are in love and--
Okay, but making Vivi trans is so good because you have to keep in mind that she is the """prince""", after all. It's somehow even more dramatic like this because Cobra knows that she is a girl and everyone is very supportive of that but-- You know. It's a kingdom, after all, and she doesn't want to cause trouble even if her father says they should announce it to the citizens. Vivi is a sweetie pie and she doesn't want to create more conflict and if what her people need is a prince then she will be one.
THEN she does the whole Miss Wednesday thing and she has so much gender euphoria 😭 Everything goes like, normally in the show but when she tells the crew who she is she's like "okay so I'm a girl but I'm the prince and people actually don't know this so it'd be great if you. Kept it to yourselves?" and Luffy is genuinely so confused because "why don't you just. Say you're a girl??" and she tries to explain it but he doesn't get how a change of gender could actually affect politics and royalty and so she kind of gives up in trying to explain it to him.
But he keeps insisting in the fact that if her kingdom needs to be freed then she does too!!!!! She deserves to be herself publicly!!!!! Vivi is having a crisis but she doesn't pay much attention to it because she wants to focus on her duties. But Nami is trans too and she understands. Like. Not to that extent because her gender wouldn't affect any population but. But she understands what it feels like to hide who she truly is. She basically tells Vivi the same things Luffy says but in a more approachable, soft way. Because they're down bad for each other btw that's another thing. They're pining hard. And Nami tries to help her while she is blushing giggling kicking her feet because pretty princess is looking at her with heart eyes too.
But Vivi is stubborn af and she is like "no, it's alright. I don't mind as long as my people are okay" and Nami is like "yes!!!! You mind!!!! You should mind, actually!!!! You should be yourself too!!!!". That makes them grow closer along the story too!!!! Vivi isn't that used to wearing more fem clothes publicly but Nami lets her wear hers and she is having the most gender-affirming moment of her life. Not to mention Sanji is there trying to flirt with her. THAT'S gender-affirming. She's a lesbian tho so sorry Sanji (not to make this about transfem Sanji but this plot gives us the opportunity for Sanji having another trans realization sooner in the story).
Long story short I think she ends up saying it publicly when everything ends and the crew reads it on the paper and they're so so so so proud!!!!! So Alabasta gets a princess and Nami gets a girlfriend. Everybody wins!

Random but... Sabosan modern au thoughts?? (if you like it, of course) 👀
modern au my beloved (also sabosan in my asks i cheered)
anyway !!! i love modern au So Much and like there will be many different versions because im indecisive <3 but my favorite one is college au (thank you one piece academy for being my inspiration for some things. like thank u for giving me cafe worker sabo???) + im a college student as well... not that i have a social life but it'd be nice to have your favorites in your situations. i wont lie, it's hard to imagine ace and luffy in college. maybe ace has a better chance but luffy? hard to imagine unless hes into gymnastics or something but anyway this is about sabosan
sabo and sanji meeting is inevitable thanks to luffy. but it was more like passing by and just meeting luffy's friends at their house. however, sanji cannot keep his eyes off sabo and he hoped that no one would notice (they did. except sabo) out of respect though, no one brings it up or forces it out of him. they do tease him here and there but it all falls on sanji's shoulders and he gotta deal with it himself. but luffy is always willing to help if sanji asked. luffy tells him where to meet him and where he works, he doesnt have every little detail as these two were just the biggest ones.
again, sabo works at a cafe so sanji decides to go there and check it out in his free time. sanji just chills there and straightforwardly asks to talk to sabo (doesnt specify what) and bc he was luffy's friend, sabo was willing to listen. he does ask to go on a small break for this as he thought it was something urgent but a small talk was fine. i think sanji was a little awkward on how to approach this cause he honestly had no idea how exactly he felt about sabo (still questioned his sexuality poor guy) like did he have a crush on him or simply felt like being his friend? who knows! anyway sabo carried most of the conversation til sanji felt more comfortable to open up a little bit. they do have a great time talking and bond about luffy before sabo had to work again, but he invited sanji out once his shift ends.
after hours they end up strolling around the neighborhood before it got too dark and sanji really liked to be around his presence. he seemed very gentleman like, too. and sabo's relationship with his coworker/friend reminded sanji of luffy and another certain redhead. sanji noticed that sabo was able to cook and offered recipes which sabo was eternally grateful for. as the day ends, sanji thought he hit it off with sabo well. and even before heading home, sabo handed sanji his phone number so that they could make plans to hang out more or even just talk over the phone. (though it kinda complicates things more for sanji bc first off he had a "love at first sight" moment when he laid eyes on sabo, and every time he saw him whenever he'd visit luffy, it was hard to Not Look at sabo every time his presence is felt. and now sanji finally mustered up the courage to talk and officially befriend sabo just to get his number at the end? not only that they technically went on a mini date after his shift? even if it was a little stroll, sanji would be lying if he said his heart wasnt going to jump out at any moment)
on sabo's end, he admired sanji and was grateful to have someone like him look after his little brother in his stead sometimes. as mentioned before, sabo did Not notice sanji's glances at all so he was a bit surprised that sanji would talk to him.
theyre dynamic in modern au is friends to lovers but also mutual pining bc theyre silly like that

For the ao3 wrapped:
6 & 29.
Thanks. 😊
thanks rose!! ok, so,
6. Favorite title you used.
ode to an ocean.! there were a few other contenders (any port in a storm. ; always our self we find in the sea., that may get repurposed for other fics) but they didn't have the same mhmp that the one i thought up at the last second did along with the first line of the summary, HAHA. (an aside, but i also really like the current working title of my next wip, but i digress)
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
from ode to an ocean again.! i liked how the few mentions of kuina worked out in the long run! (pine trees fic beloved .... i liked this one. the pining zoro zolu fic that drove me nuts)
If you get in the way of my dreams it will cost you your life, he tells him, and Kuina says he was weak, he got distracted, but she is only pithy, never angry. Only now he realizes perhaps he was never talking to Luffy. And how horrific is it, that Luffy holds the rest of his future in the rough, seaworn palms of his hands, cradling where his dream meet his and now they’re so interwoven Zoro doubts he can now visualize his title without the Pirate King’s beside it.  How horrifying, too, that Luffy turns to him and asks him what it means. Nothing. Anything. Everything.

In his arms
fluffy Zoro fic for @onepiece-bingo, my entry for the square ‘glitch’.
How was it that you were marrying someone else? You were supposed to marry him, not some nobody. Zoro’s heart clenched as you smiled at your ‘beloved’, this couldn’t be real, this had to be a dream. How long had he loved you from afar? How long had he pined after you? Why hadn’t he told you? He was supposed to be the World’s Greatest Swordsman but all he felt like right now was a coward. A coward for not saying something sooner, a coward for not telling you how he felt, and a coward for not speaking up as the priest asked if anyone had a reason why you and your lover shouldn’t be married. All he could do was close his eyes and wish it was over. The green-haired man felt someone shaking his shoulder, calling his name, forcing him to open his eye, forcing him to see what was going on in front of him. Looking around, his brow furrowed, he’d just been sitting in the front row at your wedding, watching as you got married to someone else, so why was he standing at the altar? Why was he dressed like he was the one getting married? And why was Luffy shaking him? Luffy just laughed, his usual bright, sunny smile on his face.
“Come on, Zoro. You’re getting married, you shouldn’t fall asleep during your wedding.” Sanji scolded from behind Luffy. Married?! To whom? Since when? Why the hell was ero-cook one of his groomsmen?! Hearing the doors open and the organ begin playing, Zoro looked towards his spouse-to-be, breath catching in his throat when he saw you. You were in the most beautiful outfit he’d ever seen, far better than the one you’d been wearing a moment ago while marrying someone else. You were gorgeous, an angel, no, for once ero-cook was right, you were divine, you had to be, there was no other explanation for your beauty. Suddenly Zoro didn’t care what had just happened, why everything seemed to have jumped and jumbled around. He didn’t care about the gaps in his memory that said that you had dated someone else, didn’t care about what Franky would have called a ‘glitch’. All that mattered was that he was marrying you, he could figure the rest out later. Taking your hands, he couldn’t help the uncharacteristically large smile that spread across his face as he looked at you. This moment, you, standing here with him, his entire world was all that mattered now, as if everything was falling into place as it should.
You smiled at your soon-to-be husband, it was a moment yet a lifetime ago that you were marrying someone else, someone who wasn’t Zoro, realizing that your spouse-to-be wasn’t who you wanted standing in front of you, that you wanted Zoro. It had been so surreal, finding yourself back in time, before your would-be lover, back on the deck of the Merry, back when you had the chance to confess to the green-haired man. You’d lived out the years up until this moment, confessing to the man, dating, cuddling… loving, and now here you were once more at the altar, Zoro’s rough, calloused hands in yours, easily and happily saying your ‘I do’s. You didn’t know what had happened, why the universe had given you a second chance, but you didn’t care, not so long as you could be with the man you truly loved. Before the priest could even finish his sentence, Zoro was pulling you in for a passionate kiss, as if he’d never kissed you before, as if he’d never be able to kiss you again, the world falling away for a moment. It wasn’t until Luffy tapped him on the shoulder that he pulled away, leaving both of you breathless, and the wedding goers a little speechless. He’d been liplocked with you for the last few minutes, even past the priest clearing his throat. Not that Zoro cared, he’d finally gotten what he wanted and for the first time in his life, he realized that what he wanted wasn’t to be the world’s greatest swordsman, because the title meant nothing if you weren’t in his arms.
“I swear, I’ll never let you go, I’ll never let any harm befall you, and I’ll never let anyone else have you.” Zoro whispered before picking you up, not just walking but outright strutting down the aisle, unceremoniously kicking the door open before carrying you to the quaint carriage that awaited you. He didn’t know what awaited him in the future, didn’t know what had happened in the recent past, all he knew was that you were his, that you were in his arms, both of you happy and content as the carriage carried you away, to where, Zoro didn’t care, just so long as you stayed in his arms.
