Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 DAYS MIRACLE ANCE CLEAR BODY CLEANSER

I bought this product because I was getting Bacne. I was already breaking out on my face I was not about to let my back have one too. Unfortunately, it did not work on me SIGH. I think it made my Bacne worse, it did dry out the existing ones I have but again it made it worse. I was halfway down with the bottle when I made the decision to stop using it. I just used the remaining product on my grandma lol (PS: my lola has a broken left wrist so I have to give her a bath) My lola is a sweaty person and with sweat comes odor more often than not, I think it worked on her because the sweaty smell she had lessened. Probably better for that use rather than treating Bacne.

Deonat Mineral Deodorant

TBH, I don't remember having a skin/hygiene routine when I got pregnant back in 2018. All I remember is I had to stop BHA on my routine because it's not suitable for preggy women. During and post pregnancy my underarms became really dark but eventually after awhile it did lighten but it did not came back as it was before. I was just at a drugstore when I came across this product. Haven't tried stick tawas (alum) or stick deodorant before so why not right? The one I got is the Brightening one (they have 2? variations of this kind) If you're used to the roll on or the usual stick one, this one is different because it's a literal stick! It was weird to use at first because I was used to roll on deodorant, you have to wet the top with water then rub it in! Simple. Now, did it whitened my underarms? Not sure. But what made me repurchase this product is how 60g of product can literally last you a year! And I did not have an odor!! I'm not a sweaty person to begin with but if you live in a climate same as me you are going to sweat. Yes I sweat it's normal but no odor I tell you!!!

My 10-Step Nighttime Skincare Routine

I can’t quite recall when I got into skincare. I was into makeup more. It was all of a sudden when I realized that being confident with your ‘first skin’ is better than always relying on your ‘second skin.’  

Although I already constantly washed my face every night with facial cleanser and hardly get acne, I was not very happy with my bare skin. I had oily skin and my nose had whiteheads. I also didn’t take care much of my skin overall. I would ride a motorbike under the sun without sunblock thinking that, “I won’t get sunburnt anyway – my skin is too brown for it.” But then I’d still have burnt skin by the end of the day.  

I learned about 10-step Korean skincare by watching too much YouTube. At first, I thought it was ridiculous, I mean, ain’t nobody got time for that!  Until I tried it. I only perform this routine at nighttime, before bed, in front of the computer, so that I won’t get bored waiting for each product to set in. Now, I want to share it with you. 

Disclaimer: Not all products I use are from Korean brands. Also, there are many variations of the 10-step skincare routine, this is my own version.

1. Oil Cleanser

Product: Pond’s Age Beauty Cream Cleansing

This is my alternative to more expensive Banila Co Clean It Zero and Heimish All Clean Balm cleansing balms. It does the job! I don’t wear makeup every day (perks of not going out a lot) so, I don’t get to use this every day. 

Anyway, the main purpose of this is to remove makeup. The good thing about this is that you don’t have to rinse it off – removing it from your face with wet wipes will do (it is oil-based, duh.) It’s good for days I get home late or I’m traveling and I don’t have the time or motivation to do this entire routine but still want to get rid of the makeup on my face.

2. Water-Based Cleanser

Product:  Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

Who says one-time cleansing is enough?! Sometimes, no matter how much you rub your face (please don’t rub your skin too hard oh my God! StOP!) with wet wipes, there are still some gunk or makeup residue left behind. So, most of the time, double cleansing is necessary.

For this, I am using Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. I normally use Pond’s Antibacterial Facial Scrub, but I wanted to try this Korean product for its interesting formula. It claims to be “A super gentle cleanser that’s great for your everyday wash, this low pH formula gel cleanser doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils and contains purifying botanical ingredients and mild acids to gently cleanse your skin to its most supple and clear texture. It's also formulated to remove makeup and other oil-based residues with a skin-happy pH of 5!” And oh, don’t let its name fool you; you can use it even at night or anytime of the day actually!

3. Exfoliate

Products: Skin Food Black Sugar Mask Off / Mizon  Vita Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel

Who says we’re done with cleansing? Hah! The third step is to exfoliate. Okay, you don’t have to should not do this every day – too much exfoliation may harm your skin. That’s why I only exfoliate twice a week; using two different products.

The first product is Skin Food Black Sugar Mask. This is probably my most favorite Korean skincare product. After using it, you’ll instantly have porcelain-like complexion. No kidding! Okay, perhaps a little exaggeration, but it really does leave your skin tighter after rinsing.

The second one is a milder exfoliator – Mizon Vita Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel. For some reason, I really find this really fun to use. It gives relaxing sensation as you massage it on your face and slowly dissolves into little wet tissue-like texture residues.

4. Toner

Product: Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Toner

Another non-Korean brand product I use is Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Toner. Not only because all Buzzfeed skincare-related posts promotes this product, but also because of the Witch Hazel in it which is known as a good skin astringent. It’s known to shrink pores as well.

5. Masks

Products: Skin Food Apple Fresh Pore Pack /  Face Mask Sheet /  Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask /  Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mask

This is another step that I don’t do every day. For this, I have four different products I use alternatively.

Skin Food Apple Fresh Pore Pack: A wash off mask pack that effectively shrinks pores for a smooth, clear complexion.

Face Mask Sheet: I use this twice a week. I don’t have one particular product I use, but my favorite is Rorec Korean Reservoir Facial Mask – I like how thin the sheet is, so you know that it doesn’t absorb all the products and instead, transfer it onto your face. My least favorite and won’t use again is Ekel masks – it’s too thick for my liking and so sticky.

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask (Yellow Brightening): This one, I use once a week. This mask comes in 7 different colors and each color is particularly made to target specific skin issues. I’m all for brightly sparkling skin so I use this yellow one. When I put this on my face, I feel like a Burmese girl wearing Thanaka.

Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mask: Another mask that I use once a week is pore clay mask, also from Innisfree. This contains super volcanic cluster to effectively absorb sebum and cleanse pores. Like the Black Sugar, this gives me tight effect after rinsing.

6. Essence

Product: Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence (Intensive ~*Moist*~)

If I’m being totally honest, I’d say that I don’t really know what’s the purpose of an essence, but because I’m a pretentious piece of work and want to give you an impression that I know everything about Korean skincare, I did a little research: It says that “The essence is really the heart of Korean skincare, a step that is credited to their culture.” It says to balances pH once you've stripped the skin of oils, which also has an anti-aging element to an essence.

7. Serums and Ampoule

Products: It’s Skin 10 Formula VB Effector & VC Effector /  Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule

Let me start by saying I LOVE IT’S SKIN 10 FORMULA EFFECTOR SERUMS! Well, not all of them. But I believe that this green bottle of unicorn tears is the reason why I magically wake up every morning not looking like a greasy fried egg. I have used four different types of this serum (the two other being PO for big pores and CO which contains collagen,) but my two favorites and will keep buying are VB Effector (for oily skin) and VC Effector (for brightening and removing dark spots)

For the ampoule, I use Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule. It claims to help in giving you a dewy, supple, and clear complexion.

8. Eye Cream

Product: Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream 

This is the first product that truly made me hooked on Korean skincare brands as it really made a difference. It really brightens my dark circles and removes the highly visible fine lines, although it didn’t really make them go away completely, hah!

9. Moisturizer

This is the only moisturizer I've found that sinks in and actually moisturizes my skin. I’ve tried many products that leave me greasy all day (or night) long. By using this, my skin kept hydrated and healthy looking. I think this is perfect for those who have oily skin.

10. Face Cream

Product: Vaseline 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly

Okay, I know, I know… this is NOT a face cream. I used to use Pond’s Flawless White Brightening Night Cream. In this routine, the face cream is supposed to “lock in” all the products on your face and for some who would rather perform their routine in the morning, to protect their skin from the sun (thus using creams with SPF.) 

But when I traveled to Indonesia, I met this Korean girl who had really nice skin. I expressed how pretty her skin was and how it looked like a lightbulb for being so bright and healthy (yes, I am creepy, shut up!) She told me that she thinks what makes her skin “sparkling” is Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. I really wanted to have that trendy glass-like skin, so I incorporated this in my routine, and so far, it is effective in making my skin bright and moisturized without being greasy.

This is an actual footage of me when I talk to people about how I love petroleum jelly.  

I’ve been doing this routine for months now and I have to say, it’s only intimidating at first. The following days would be easy. Most nights, my body reflexes do the job for me. For me, it’s all about pampering and taking care of myself.

My skin improved significantly. The red, blotches around my nose calmed down and my dark eyebags were almost nonexistent. I don’t wear as much makeup as I used to as I’m more confident with my bare skin now. :)

Move over SK-II FTE?! MISSHA First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist Review

This review will be very brief. If you were following me for quite some time, you would know how much I love SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. It has changed my skincare game, BIGTIME. My face would not survive this world without it. Pak! Ganern. Ganon katindi.

I got the MISSHA First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist (2016 NEW) from Althea Korea Philippines. Read how my first Althea shopping experience here. I was SO excited to try the MISSHA FTE. I was hoping to get a dupe for my SK-II FTE because, well, we all know SK-II is not cheap.

I used the MISSHA FTE for a good solid month. Used it day and night. I noticed that it was great in controlling oil on my T-zone. I was not blotting (my face) much when I was using it. Sadly, it was not able to prevent the pimples from coming.

Yep. I was breaking out during the time that I used MISSHA FTE. At first, small bumps started appearing on the sides of my face and on my chin area. Then these bumps slowly turned into pimples. And I said to myself, nope. I could not do this to myself. I struggled hard to keep my face pimple free for the longest time. I was not letting MISSHA ruin it for me. I started using MISSHA FTE less and less, only once a day. I made it part of my day time skincare routine because it was good at controlling my oil. But the pimples and blemishes kept on coming. And I decided not to use it anymore.

In the end, MISSHA FTE could not replace my SK-II FTE. It is not a dupe for it. Well, not for me. But what I can tell you is that it did a good job of controlling my face oil production. In case you do not have any facial issues other than being oily, try the MISSHA FTE. I am selling mine here if you are interested to try it. Your skin might love it.

Another Bright Cleansing Pad - This was my sister's purchase from Korea, she had to give it to me for whatever reason lol she did told me that this cleansing pad does not remove waterproof masacara which was a negative and it has a really powerful citrus-y smell that is just overwhleming. Although I did not use it on my face I just use it to remove swatches on my arm.

Iunik Tea Tree Relief Serum - This product really help calm down the redness because of my acne. I really thought I bought a bogus product because I didn't really see an effect on my face but I realized I was using it for the wrong reason. Had to stop it for awhile because I wasn't breaking out for some time then I used it again, when I had really inflamed acne. This serum thought me that you really have to stop and just analyze what going on with your skin, what's causing the breakout then do your research or look over your skincare pantry if you have any products that could help your skin situation before buying anything else.

Happy Skin Hyaluronic + B3 boost capsule serum - Didn't really see a massive difference on my skin. One thing tho, it did not broke me out.

Panoxyl Acne Creamy Wash - I'm so happy that I found this IG page that sells this brand! I've been looking for this product for sooo long because this one helped with my acne since college days then it was phased out. Luckily tiktok is bringing this product back but you can only buy it online not in drugstores.

Happy Skin Invisible Sun Gel Primer - For me, it feels really silicone-y. I would oil up faster when using this product with or w/out make up. Just wanted to try it. Pricey? Uhmm Yes.

Centellian 24 Madeca Cream - Night time moisturizer for years now! Sad thing is I'm not using it as often as I would like because I work at night and this moisturizer is too heavy for work. Still does what supposed to do, help calm down redness, helps with skin barrier and when you wake up in the morning your skin looks real plump!

Ellana Mineral Cosmetics Strawberry Lip Scrub - I got this as a freebie way back when. Didn't really use it when I checked all the products I have that's just sitting on my shelf not being used to their full potential, it got bad. Smells really good before like strawberry vanilla it has a pink tint after when you used it. But then again, I don't really see myself using it.

🤍Using it for days makes me realize that this is the most promising facial wash that I tried throughout my skincare journey.

My facial skin story and how SK-II Facial Treatment Essence has helped me.

People close to me know that I was struggling from adult acne this time last year. The situation went worst when I started working in a law firm. I always thought that I was breaking out because of stress. But lately did I realize that stress is not the only thing that made me breakout. I was not eating healthy nor drinking enough water. And I was not taking good care of my skin. I started watching Korean skincare videos on Youtube to have ideas of products that I could get here in the Philippines. After a few months, I had a good amount of Korean facial wash, cleansing balms and creams but nothing seemed to work. I even went to the dermatologist and got myself a facial and some products that specifically fight acne but nothing worked. Instead, I started using makeup. Yes. I started to wear makeup when I was breaking out. Such a bad idea. I know right? But I had to cover up the pimples. I was already working and I had to look my best during client meetings and court appearances. I have been using Laneige BB Cushion for about two to three months. It had a very nice coverage but my acne was not getting any better. So I watched more Youtube videos and most, if not all of them, mentioned how effective and “expensive” SK-II Facial Treatment Essence (“FTE”) was. Hahaha. So when I went to Guam, USA last December for vacation, I decided to get myself the smallest bottle to try out. And I got to say that it really helped improve the texture and condition of my face after a month of use.

I use the FTE every morning and evening right after washing my face. It is pretty expensive so I just put four to five drops on a cotton pad and apply it first on my nose, then to my chin and forehead and then the rest on my cheeks. I cannot say that the FTE stopped my breakouts. I do still get pimples but only small and manageable ones. I noticed that my acne scars has also lightened up and are gradually disappearing. I have more or less half of the bottle left. So far, from the looks of it, I will definitely be getting the full size. I just have to start saving money for it. Hehehe.
