Pietro ran his fingers through his hair as he walked into the Avengers building, after five years he was back along so many others and he felt quite lost, he wasn’t even sure he was considered an Avengers anymore.

"I didn't do anything," he said adamantly from his cell. If you could even call it that. Just concrete and some kind of polycarbonate barrier instead of bars with barely enough room to lay down. "I was just running around enjoying the sights and the occasional street food when they cornered me. Like they knew exactly where I'd be. I didn't even get to finish my taco."

As if he was a wild animal that needed to be contained. Which, he was starting to feel that way with how the power dampening collar was beginning to get on his nerves. He needed to run. To let out the energy that was starting to build up from lack of use. "They can't just hold me like this, can they?"

Pietro walked around the crowded streets of Manhattan, ever since he joined the Avengers he felt he wanted to explore the new country he was living, the United States was a very large country and he was curious about the people since most of what he knew was from books and the television.

"You do know I'm not an idiot, right? My brain works a hundred times faster than any of you. I can understand every complex science and theory you have. I'm just not interested in it."

She had travelled far and wide with her brother. Plenty of places to see, plenty of things to do - plenty of fortunes to read.

Wanda was aware fortune tellers had a bad reputation. She was sure it was well-earned. She'd met many false prophets, and people out to make a quick buck on peoples' grief. Wanda believed that she knew what she was doing - and was quite certain that there was something guiding her answers. It may not be entirely accurate, and she tended to only say the positive things that came to her... but she wasn't a charlatan. She knew there was something more.

That was what she kept telling herself, at least.

It was her mother that had told her how to read fortunes. First came folk dancing as a young child, then came the art of pickpocketing (her father taught her that, then her mother found out and they both got into trouble. pietro laughed his head off). After that it came folk tales, then onto tarot cards and palm reading. Her mother had been a skilled fortune teller. She had a Gift. Wanda was certain this had been passed on to her.

And that was why she didn't ignore that strange feeling she had that something just... well it wasn't quite right. Wanda couldn't tell exactly what was different about the day, nor could she even narrow down the feeling to being a 'positive' or 'negative' thing. Just that something was different.

She bit her lip, then shook her head and decided to say no more. For now, she opened her tiny, oh so tiny, little book store - with a separate section at the back for telling fortunes. Wanda didn't want to be 'tacky', nor was she a 'witch'. So she didn't want to open a magic shop, nor play too far into her roma heritage and stay in a small wagon. No. The bookstore was the perfect option, and if it was a little dark and felt mystical and otherworldly then good - many bookshops could transport people, after all. There was magic in books. And besides, if there was the tiniest little magic section to draw people in... well, she needed the business.

Store now open, the fortune telling Maximoff was ready to start the day. And she believed now that this strange feeling was telling her that someone new was about to be in her life. "How refreshing~", she mused (only partly sarcastic). It seemed things were unlikely to continue to run smoothly in her life.

Monica looked away from the board with a smile, she’d been working for a couple of hours most people returning to their homes but not her. She had just received her powers and wanted to know more so there she stood math equations along with scrambled words littered across the board as she faced it. The sound of y/c footsteps caught her attention causing her to turn and face you, her arms folded across her chest as a smile appearing on her face. Her eyes had a look of determination in them, but that look started to dim and mix into exhaustion. Truth be told she was tired, but she wanted to know how it worked. How she worked. How strong her powers yet alone how to use them. “What are you doing here?” She asked in a playful tone.

there was a rule, one pietro never broke, and that was: never raise your voice around wanda.

that rule existed even before either of the twins were gifted with extraordinary abilities, where wanda unmistakably became too powerful to cross. it just set the rule further in stone.

but now, after witnessing the horrors within Westview that pietro couldn't decide whether he believed to be caused by his twin, or a power beyond hers -he knew. he knew he had to break the rule. not just for his own sake, but for vision's, and his nephews, and for Westview's sake as a whole.

somehow he was there. sucked into a reality that wasn't his own, in a time that wasn't his own, but broken away from the jolly perspective everyone around him seemed to sport fakely. without an american accent, he took a deep breath before he began to say something he knew he'd either regret or achieve when thinking long term.

pietro faced wanda, asking "what are you doing?"

"don't- do not- pretend you don't know what I mean. what are you doing? it doesn't take a smart or advanced person to see that all of this weird shit-" the parodying sitcom she'd mastered would no doubt cut out his cursing, "that's happening here is someone's doing. and I think it's you. I think you know more than you're admitting. vision knows you're doing something. he told me about what happened at his work, with norm. he was in pain. so, I'm asking: what are you doing?!"

This is how the night always went with them, they but the Benefit in FWB much more than the Friend. “It’s been a long night,” and he got antsy quick when he stood still, and he needed something to make his mind numb.
