Philippine tarsier (Carlito syrichta)
Tarsiers are tiny, nocturnal primates found in Southeast Asia. They may be cute, with eyes almost as large as their brains, but they are actually the most carnivorous primates. They hunt mostly small arthropods, like insects and arachnids. This species is perhaps the best known tarsier, living in lowland tropical forests of the Philippines. They are large enough to occasionally prey on small reptiles and birds!

Start of National Wildlife Week
To protect the Philippine tarsier, I can support conservation efforts by donating to organizations focused on habitat conservation and research. I can also promote ecotourism by visiting tarsier sanctuaries or eco-parks that educate visitors about the importance of protecting their habitats. It is illegal to keep tarsiers as pets, and it is harmful to their well-being. Advocates for habitat conservation raise awareness about threats like habitat loss and fragmentation, and support policies to conserve forest habitats. Finally, practicing responsible photography respects tarsiers' space and avoids flash photography, which can disturb them. These actions contribute to the protection and conservation of Philippine tarsiers.

💙 it’s not wrong to want to spend time with my brother, is it?
@ask-hws-guam
Not at all, love to!
[Realized haven't introduced Pien yet even though he's kind of Piri's mascot. Thought it'd be funny though if Pien runs Piri's social media accounts and each one of them Alfred and Antonio are blocked just because the tarsier neither forgives nor forgets]

Introducing the stars of Bohol : Tarsiers!
I'm just gonna leave you some facts that speaks for themselves:
They are the size of your fist, no more.
They're not marsupials but primates.
Their brain is smaller than one of their eyes.
Since they cannot move their eyes, their head can do a 360.
They're nocturnal, sleeping during the day; hanging on the same branch.
Not a tree, they always return to the same specific branch. For life.
That simplifies the conservation efforts: just put a fence around to protect them from cats… and that's all.
They can't stand others tarsiers near them, except for a small reproduction period.
They eat insects, and they hunt by jumping up to three meters!
They cannot stand loud noises and camera flashes. Heart attack.
They cannot stand to be put in cages, and will commit suicide by banging their little heads on the bars :(.
They are a testimony to the True Secret of survival: just be cute to humans eyes.
/* Pencil doodle on A6 sketchbook - Porte-mine sur carnet A6 */

Did you know? The Philippine tarsier (Carlito syrichta) is one of the world’s smallest primates, measuring up to 5 in (13 cm) long and weighing around 5 oz (142 g)—about the size of a baseball! Found in the tree canopies of rainforests, this critter hunts insects at twilight, and uses its “googly” eyes to take in as much light as possible. Each of its enormous eyes is about the size of its brain! 👀

Bohol, Philippines
Tarsiers (/ˈtɑːrsiərz/ TAR-see-ərz) are haplorhine primates of the family Tarsiidae, which is, itself, the lone extant family within the infraorder Tarsiiformes. Although the group was, prehistorically, more globally widespread, all of the species living today are restricted to Maritime Southeast Asia, predominantly being found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines
