The Lord is My Shepherd (Ezekiel 34:11-24; John 10:1-21)
1 {A Psalm of David} The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. — Psalm 23 | King James Bible (KJV) The King James Version BIble is in the public domain Cross References: Deuteronomy 20:1; 2 Samuel 22:19; Job 10:21-22; Psalm 5:8; Psalm 16:5; Psalm 19:7; Psalm 25:7; Psam 25:10; Psalm 27:4; Psalm 31:19; Psalm 36:8; Psalm 46:4; Luke 7:46; John 10:11; Philippians 4:19; 1 Peter 2:25; Revelation 7:17

trusting the shepherd
Our current series at The Community Fellowship is “Get to Know the Shepherd”, and Sunday I shared a message from Psalm 23. David shared his experience as a shepherd and how it led him to know and follow God.
Psalm 23:1 KJV
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
That is a personal word from personal experience. Literally David that that God supplies his need through the relationship he has with God, the supreme shepherd. What an awesome truth we need to hold to as well.
1 Peter 2:25 NLT
Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.
That is why Jesus came. He is our shepherd and makes a huge difference because He seeks us, He died for us and He guides us all the time.
Psalm 69:33 NLT
For the Lord hears the cries of the needy; he does not despise his imprisoned people.
No matter our need, He knows and is ready to help. Claim this truth. He hears our prayers. He knows our needs. He is able to do even more. But that is where we begin to really know and truth the true Shepherd.
Philippians 4:19 NLT
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
The supply is 100% from God. Trusting God does so many things for us. That is where I will leave us today as the week begins… trust God, turn to God, let God guide you… then let the outcome come from God!
Acts 3:19 NIV
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
Psalm 36:8 NLT
You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights.

What does Jesus and the Bible teach about being a “good Christian”?
at the request of @iridescent-glass-bubbles, i wrote some scriptural advice. and i apologize for being long winded, but i wanted the verses to do a lot of the talking 😂🙏
The most important thing in learning to set a good example as a Christian is to continually read God’s Word.
Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know Me,” (NLT). And in the KJV, it says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” It means, how can we know God and His ways if we’re not actively reading about them? It’s much easier to be confused and led astray when you’re not familiar with what He’s said and how He works. (If you can read a novel, you can read Matthew or John or Romans.)
Similarly, what you’re constantly focusing on will affect how you think and act. Jesus says, “But the words you speak come from the heart- that’s what defiles you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander,” (Matthew 15:18). This is why Paul says in Colossians 3:2, “Think about the things of Heaven, not the things of earth.” And in Philippians 4:8, “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Fill up your heart with things of the Lord, and that’s when your actions will start to follow.
As for how Jesus wants us to act, it’s all through the New Testament, especially His “Sermon on the Mount” speech in Matthew. Among some are: don’t hate anyone (5:21-22), don’t seek revenge (5:38-42), love and be kind to those who hate you (5:43-48), forgive everyone without holding a grudge (6:14-5), and don’t let pride convince you you’re better than everyone else (7:1-5). He says in Matthew 22:37-38, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” The Golden Rule: treat others the way you’d want to be treated, is actually from the Bible (in Matthew 7:12).
A good summary is found in Colossians 3:12-15 which says, “Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with Love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.” (Also see the fruits of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23).
Jesus didn’t just teach these things, He lived them. Every account of a situation He was in is an example of how He honored these principles.
It sounds like a tall order, doesn’t it? The truth is we aren’t capable of being perfect examples of Christ. We mess up all the time. But the Holy Spirit can help us with these things. Jesus wants to grow us into bright lights that shine His love on everyone, but we need to be willing. I didn’t see that much change in myself until i started regularly reading the Bible and thinking on how He wanted me to act. And then i started putting in the effort to obey, and He provided the increase.
We can’t be “good Christians” if we’re relying only on our own efforts. But we’re called to listen to and obey the Lord and He will change us more and more into His image. As Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work in you, will continue his work until it is finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” So let God’s promises fill you with peace, stand for the truth, and love others even in difficult situations. 💙

Daily Devotionals for September 29, 2024
Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living
Devotional Scripture:
Proverbs 25:16 (KJV): 16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it. Proverbs 25:16 (AMP): 16 Have you found (pleasure sweet like) honey? Eat only as much as is sufficient for you, lest being filled with it, you vomit it.
Thought for the Day
God desires that we enjoy the good things that He created for us to eat (Psalm 103:5), but we need to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's guidance in all our ways, including eating. Honey and sweet things ought to be taken in moderation, lest overindulgence make us ill. The Bible teaches moderation and temperance in all things (Galatians 5:22-23). Overindulgence opens the door to gluttony, which has become one of the most widespread sins in Western culture and America. Food is the god of millions. Obesity is now a common problem. To maintain God's blessings, we must obey His Word regarding both spiritual and physical matters. "Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand" (Philippians 4:5).
The world has set the standard when it comes to eating, rather than the Word of God. Here is another area where we need to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's guidance. First, we need to make sure that we are receiving proper spiritual food; however, the Lord is also emphasizing to His people that they need to make changes in their physical diets and receive the proper natural foods. Most of God's people have experienced His healing in their bodies, but one problem that seems to be prevalent is that after receiving healing, the devil comes back to rob them of God's gift of healing. However, if we exercise our faith and rebuke the enemy in the name of Jesus, he will flee. If you have done this and are still experiencing illness, perhaps the problem is one of maintaining the gift God has given you. By this I mean we must not only obey and keep spiritual laws, but also we must keep physical laws if we expect to walk in God's blessings.
Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are each a caretaker of our body, but many of us do not honor the God of glory who lives within us. Rather than keep His temple in good shape, we neglect it and fill it with garbage foods. We ought to assess our eating habits to bring them in line with Biblical guidelines. Many are tired and sick because a large part of their diet consists of highly-refined, nutritionally-dead foods. A good rule is to eat the "living foods" God created: fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, legumes and dairy. God's guidelines for meats are given in Leviticus 11. In ourselves, we may not be able to overcome old eating habits, but through prayer and with His help, we can (Philippians 4:13). If we seek God on this important subject, He will direct us to a solution. Ultimately, it is faith and obedience to God that gives us victory.
While it is good to emphasize proper eating and physical exercise, we must beware of extremes. Our spiritual health should always be given top priority, since it determines the quality of our lives on earth and in eternity (1 Timothy 4:8). Many people have become unbalanced by putting too much emphasis on the physical man, while neglecting the spiritual man. We must not neglect our physical health, but we should avoid becoming overly concerned about it and allowing it to absorb too much of our time. God desires that we learn self-discipline and temperance in all things. I appreciate a book that I read years ago on dieting: More of Jesus, Less of Me. Submitting to Christ's Lordship is the key to a proper balance between the care of our spiritual man and physical bodies. We should make Jesus "Lord of the Fork."
Prayer Devotional for the Day Dear heavenly Father, we are thankful for all of the good foods that You created for our pleasure. They have been a blessing and we have enjoyed them. Lord, help us not to over-indulge and put too much emphasis on food. Give us the desire to eat things that are good for us and deliver us from those things that are not healthy. Since You created our bodies, we trust Your wisdom to know what things are best for us to eat. Forgive us for any lust for food, and may we eat those things that will cause us to have a healthy body so that we can serve You without illness and lack of energy. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

What is the meaning of 2nd Thessalonians 2:8-11?
These are references of an impending spiritual rebellion, of unseen evils, and the rise of a powerful tyranical spiritual figure, the man of lawlessness. To those who are not followers of God and/or of the Heavenly sent Son, Jesus Christ, God sends a strong spirit of delusion, so they will succumb to the false teachings of the man of lawlessness... The antichrist. In conclusion it is now to be with God and His holy nature than to be against it. To gain nourishment for our soul is to read His word and to never abandon these truths.
What causes delusionment?
Ezekiel 7:19
They will throw away their money, tossing it out like worthless trash. It won’t buy their deliverance in that day of the Lord’s anger. It will neither satisfy nor feed them, for their love of money made them stumble into sin.
Misplaced affection
Philippians 3:3
For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort,
Misplaced confidence
Matthew 16:26
And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul?
Misplaced priorities
Ecclesiastes 4:16
He might become the leader of millions and be very popular. But then the next generation grows up and rejects him! So again, it is all meaningless, like chasing the wind.
Searching for satisfaction from any source other than what God’s Word says brings satisfaction
Ecclesiastes 4:4
Then I observed that most people are motivated to success by their envy of their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless, like chasing the wind.
Success motivated by envy
Jeremiah 23:16
“This is my warning to my people,” says the Lord Almighty. “Do not listen to these prophets when they prophesy to you, filling you with futile hopes. They are making up everything they say. They do not speak for the Lord!”
Hopes built on lies and half-truths
Ecclesiastes 6:9
Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless; it is like chasing the wind.
Discontentment
Romans 4:14-16
So if you claim that God’s promise is for those who obey God’s law and think they are “good enough” in God’s sight, then you are saying that faith is useless. And in that case, the promise is also meaningless. But the law brings punishment on those who try to obey it. (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!) So that’s why faith is the key! God’s promise is given to us as a free gift.
Seeking salvation through any other means than through faith in Jesus Christ
Jeremiah 10:15
Idols are worthless; they are lies! The time is coming when they will all be destroyed.
Worshiping anything other than the Lord
Titus 1:16
Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are despicable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.
Hypocritical living/ Compromised living
I personally believe that the life of compromise is following the beliefs of Baalim/ Baal and Ashtaroth mentioned in the Old testament. Which is basically a version of idolatry.
Judges 2:11 KJV
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
Judges 2:13 KJV
And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
Judges 10:6 KJV
And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.
Modern practices of Baal worship today that you may be unaware of.
Baal worship included promoting new, man-centered ideas for success in farming and fertility, as well as child sacrifice (known as abortion in this period), serving the matters of man that do not mention the true and living God. Wicked, "respected", and persuasive natures in individuals given in to those strongholds, personalities, and influence claiming they serve God but are partakers in sin and like it that way. Such as fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. A weak spirit in the person that is not aligned with God and his laws.
The Bible says that Solomon allowed and promoted the worship of Ashtoreth, Chemosh, Molech, and other pagan gods.
Through Solomon we find that wisdom alone is not sufficient; we must also have a heart of obedience. As believers we should realize that we’re also susceptible to this type of influence and deception.
Isaiah 42:18-20 KJV
Straight forward disobedience

The Celestial Vendettas
Does not disaster come to the unjust and calamity to the workers of iniquity? Job 31:3 (BSB)
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3 (BSB)
Your leaders are rebels, the companions of thieves. All of them love bribes and demand payoffs, but they refuse to defend the cause of orphans or fight for the rights of widows. Isaiah 1:23 (NLT)
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Exodus 20:16 (KJV)
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave anyone unpunished who takes His name in vain. Exodus 20:7 (BSB)
If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. 1 John 2:4 (NLT)
So this is what the LORD says to his people: “You love to wander far from me and do not restrain yourselves. Therefore, I will no longer accept you as my people. Now I will remember all your wickedness and will punish you for your sins.” Then the LORD said to me, “Do not pray for these people anymore." Jeremiah 14:10-11 (NLT)

10 Bible Verses About Joy
The Bible speaks a lot about joy, offering believers hope and encouragement. In both the Old Testaments and New Testaments, joy is described as a fruit of the Spirit and a response to God’s faithfulness. Joy is not just an emotion but a deep-rooted contentment found in God’s promises. Let’s explore 10 Bible verses about joy that will help you better understand its significance in the life of a Christian.
10 Bible Verses About Joy
1. Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)
“…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10 is a powerful reminder that true joy comes from the Lord. When the Israelites heard the reading of the Law, they wept, but Nehemiah encouraged them to rejoice. This verse teaches that God’s joy provides strength in times of hardship and spiritual renewal. The joy that comes from knowing God sustains us, giving us the courage to face challenges and the assurance that His presence is always with us.
2. Psalm 16:11 (KJV)
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Psalm 16:11 highlights the joy that comes from being in God’s presence. It promises that in God’s presence, we experience the fullness of joy. This verse encourages us to seek a closer relationship with God because the more we dwell in His presence, the greater our joy becomes. God’s eternal pleasures are more satisfying than anything the world can offer.
3. Philippians 4:4 (KJV)
“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.”
In Philippians 4:4, Paul commands believers to rejoice in the Lord always. Despite being imprisoned, Paul wrote this letter with an emphasis on joy. This verse teaches us that joy is not based on circumstances, but on our relationship with God. Christians are called to rejoice at all times because God’s love and grace remain constant, even in difficult situations.
4. Romans 15:13 (KJV)
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
Romans 15:13 reveals the connection between joy, peace, and hope. This verse shows that joy is a result of faith and trust in God. When we believe in God, He fills us with joy and peace, allowing us to overflow with hope. This joy is made possible by the power of the Holy Spirit, who works within us to strengthen our faith.
5. Psalm 30:5 (KJV)
“…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Psalm 30:5 offers comfort to those going through trials and sorrows. It acknowledges that sorrow is a temporary part of life, but joy is inevitable for those who trust in God. No matter how dark or painful a situation may seem, God’s promise is that joy will return in the morning. This verse encourages believers to remain hopeful because God will turn their mourning into dancing.
6. James 1:2-3 (KJV)
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”
James 1:2-3 presents a surprising perspective on trials. It encourages believers to consider it joy when they face trials and temptations. The reason for this is that trials test and strengthen faith, producing perseverance. This joy is not based on the trials themselves but on the outcome they produce—a deeper faith and trust in God. Joy in trials reveals spiritual maturity and confidence in God’s plan.
7. John 15:11 (KJV)
“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”
In John 15:11, Jesus speaks about His desire for His followers to experience complete joy. This verse follows His teachings about abiding in Him and keeping His commandments. Jesus promises that by remaining connected to Him, believers can experience true joy. This joy is not temporary but a deep, abiding joy that comes from a close relationship with Christ.
8. Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…”
Galatians 5:22-23 teaches that joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. This means that joy is a natural result of the Holy Spirit’s work in the life of a believer. As Christians grow in their relationship with God and walk according to the Spirit, joy becomes a part of their character. This joy is not dependent on external factors but is rooted in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
9. 1 Peter 1:8 (KJV)
“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.”
1 Peter 1:8 speaks of a deep, unspeakable joy that comes from believing in Christ. Even though we have not seen Jesus with our eyes, our faith in Him brings overwhelming joy. This verse highlights the mysterious and powerful nature of Christian joy—joy that cannot be fully expressed in words. It is a joy rooted in the hope and assurance of salvation.
10. Isaiah 55:12 (KJV)
“For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
Isaiah 55:12 paints a beautiful picture of the joy and peace that come with following God’s ways. This prophetic verse speaks of the joy that will accompany God’s people as they follow Him. It is a reminder that joy is a hallmark of the Christian life, not only in this life but also in the age to come. God’s creation rejoices along with His people, pointing to the eternal joy found in His presence.
Application of Joy in the Christian Life
Joy is an essential part of the Christian life. The Bible makes it clear that joy comes from the Lord and is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Believers are called to rejoice always, even in difficult circumstances, because joy is rooted in the knowledge of God’s love, faithfulness, and eternal promises.
Joy Despite Circumstances
Many of the verses above show that joy is not dependent on external circumstances. Instead, it comes from a deep relationship with God and trust in His plan. Whether we are facing trials, persecution, or sorrow, the joy of the Lord can be our strength.
Joy and the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in producing joy in the life of a believer. Galatians 5:22 lists joy as a fruit of the Spirit, meaning it is a natural result of walking in step with the Spirit. Christians should seek to cultivate a life led by the Spirit to experience the fullness of joy that God offers.
The Source of Joy
True joy can only be found in God. The world may offer temporary happiness, but only God provides lasting, fulfilling joy. Psalm 16:11 tells us that in God’s presence is the fullness of joy. As believers, we should prioritize spending time with God through prayer, worship, and reading His Word to experience this joy.
Conclusion
Joy is a central theme throughout Scripture, and it is a gift that God gives to those who trust in Him. From the joy that comes from being in God’s presence to the joy that sustains us in trials, these 10 Bible verses about joy provide a clear picture of what it means to experience true, lasting joy as a follower of Christ. As believers, we are called to rejoice in the Lord always, knowing that our joy is secure in His promises and His presence.
By reflecting on these verses and applying them to our lives, we can better understand how to live joyfully, regardless of circumstances, and draw closer to the One who is the source of all joy.

Open Heaven Daily Devotional 9th January 2023 By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – It Shall Be Well 1
Open Heaven Daily Devotional - It Shall Be Well 1
The Topic of Open Heavens for 9th January 2024 Is “It Shall Be Well 1”
MEMORISE: “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” – Psalm 92:12 (KJV) READ: Isaiah 3:10 (KJV) 10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY
The old year has just passed with all its ups and downs. There is a tendency to think that things will remain the same or even become worse based on man’s projections and forecasts. However, according to our Bible reading today, I speak into your life and declare that, “It shall be well with you!” As assuring as this prophetic message from the Lord is, we must not lose sight of the truth embedded in our Bible reading: it is the righteous that will be singled out for wellness. Our memory verse for today affirms this as well. Beloved, I encourage you to live righteously in this new year if you want it to be well with you, your family, your business, your finances, and everything that concerns you. One question you might, however, be asking yourself is, “How can one be righteous in this perverse generation when the Bible says in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God?” The answer to this question is very simple; the Bible tells us in (1 John 1:9) that if we confess our sins, God will forgive us, and the blood of Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, will cleanse us from all sin. Isaiah 64:6 also says: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. The above scriptures establish the truth that we cannot cleanse ourselves and become acceptable to God by our own efforts; only the righteousness of God, which is obtainable through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, is acceptable to God (Philippians 3:3-9). Truly, many forecasts have projected that the year may be challenging, but I assure you that those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under His shadow (Psalm 91:1), and they will be shielded from any evil that may be lurking ahead. The Bible, however, clearly says that God cannot behold iniquity (Habakkuk 1:13). This implies that you must have the righteousness of God through Christ if you want to access the secret place of the Most High. As you surrender your life to Jesus and walk in His righteousness all through this year and beyond, I decree once again that all shall be well with you. The Lord is My Shepherd
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

THE POWER OF THOUGHTS
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are TRUE, whatever things are NOBLE, whatever things are JUST, whatever things are PURE, whatever things are LOVELY, whatever things are of GOOD REPORT, if there is any VIRTUE and if there is anything PRAISEWORTHY—MEDITATE ON THESE THINGS.
9 The things which you LEARNED and RECEIVED and HEARD and SAW in me, these DO, and the God of peace will be with you."
Philippians 4:8,9 (NKJV)
• Your thoughts determine your state in life. The Scripture says: “For as HE THINKS IN HIS HEART, SO IS HE” (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV).
- Your thoughts make or mar you. Another passage of the Bible says:
"KEEP thy heart with all DILIGENCE; For out of it are the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23 KJV).
- The position or the level you are today, is a result of your yesterday thoughts. Thoughts are the pivots on which a person's life rotates.
- The Bible talks on what to think on and what not to think on (Philippians 4:8).
It is those things you permitted in your mind that become your thoughts.
• The origin of thoughts: thoughts are governed by observations, associations, and teachings.
(i) Observations: what you observed and retained the picture in your mind, will affect and influence your thought—positively or negatively.
- This is the reason why you should discipline yourself about things you watch on line, or on the television, and things you observe in other people's lives.
- Thus, whoever you are following as a mentor, should be someone who is following Christ. If the person misses it, do not follow that!
- Paul admonishes the Believers in Corinth and every believer in Christ Jesus: "IMITATE [follow] ME, JUST AS I ALSO IMITATE [follow] CHRIST (1 Corinthians 11:1 NKJV).
- Also, he told the Philippian Christians and the Believers in general: "The things which you LEARNED [through your association with me] and RECEIVED [through impartation and teachings] and HEARD [through my teachings] and SAW [observed] in ME [Paul], these do, and the God of peace will be with you" (Philippians 4:9 NKJV).
- As long as the person is following Christ, it is all right to keep following such a person (Philippians 4:9). Because, following is needed to get to where you are going in Christ, however, make sure you are following the right person—someone who is following Christ Jesus:
"REMEMBER THOSE WHO RULE OVER YOU [leaders in Christ], who have spoken the Word of God to you, WHOSE FAITH FOLLOW, CONSIDERING THE OUTCOME OF THEIR CONDUCT" (Hebrews 13:7 NKJV).
- Discipline your eyes, make a vow not to use your eyes to watch any evil—whatever is not edifying:
“I [Job] MADE A COVENANT WITH MY EYES NOT TO LOOK WITH LUST AT A YOUNG WOMAN" (Job 31:1 NLT).
- There is difference between seeing and looking—observing. When you see what cannot edify you, that can lead to lustfulness, then take your eyes away, do not look keenly.
- Seeing might not be a sin per se, but looking, closed observation, might lead to sin, because it will affect your thoughts negatively: "But I [Jesus] say to you that WHOEVER LOOKS AT A WOMAN TO LUST FOR HER HAS ALREADY COMMITTED ADULTERY WITH HER IN HIS HEART" (Matthew 5:28 NKJV).
- Thus, you will do well to uninstall that app on your phone, or on any other devices of yours, that is fanning lusts in you, or causing you to lust and masturbate:
9 Do you not know that the UNRIGHTEOUS WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD? Do not be deceived. Neither FORNICATORS, nor idolaters, nor ADULTERERS, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor SODOMITES, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners WILL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD" (1 Corinthians 6:9,10).
(ii) Associations. There is power in influence. The people you associate with tend to influence your thought life—positively or negatively.
- The Bible says: “Do not be deceived: "EVIL COMPANY CORRUPTS GOOD HABITS" (1 Corinthians 15:33 NKJV).
- Whom you associate with determines how you behave (Proverbs 1:10).
- What you see the people around you doing, and hear them saying or talking, could be registered in your mind—memory and later replay back to you at your time of relaxation or when you are lonely.
- Thus, you have the responsibility to guard your mind and sieve whatever would be allowed to go in there: "KEEP YOUR HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE, for out of it spring the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV).
- It is better not to see and hear the evils being done around you, than trying to flush them out in your mind after being absorbed.
- If you stayed around the negative people, those who wallow in sin, you might come to realize that you begin to reason and think like them (Proverbs 1:10-29; 1 Corinthians 15:33). And vice versa, if you stay around the positive people: "HE WHO WALKS WITH WISE MEN WILL BE WISE, But the COMPANION OF FOOLS will be DESTROYED" (Proverbs 13:20 NKJV).
- Your Association determines your thoughts!
(iii) Teachings. The teachings you listen to, on line or radio, or read in a book, or a magazine; will influence your thoughts.
WHEN you are listening to someone's teachings through any device, or reading them in their books, you are rubbing your mind with that of the person.
- If you can listen to someone's teachings, their ideologies, for a good period of time, you will begin to think like the person.
- Avoid poisonous and contaminated contents: Junk, unedifying contents, on social media, or television, or reading books or magazines that could not edify you—help or contribute to your spiritual Growth.
- What you hear or read determines your thoughts. Whatever you programme into your mind, what you put into it, is what it gives back to you.
- Endeavour to put the right words in your mind, for you to have sound and good thoughts that could make you fulfil in life as a believer.
• Admonition
* What do you observe? That which you always look or explore will dominate your thought life.
* Who are your friends? Those whom you associate with, will influence your thoughts.
* What are you hearing and reading? The Teachings you listen to, or read, determine your thoughts.
• Stay Away
- Stay away from all places and things that do not support your conviction in God's Word, that do not contribute to your faith.
- You may even have to stay away from some so-called Believers, some who are unbelieving Believers, or certain gatherings; those who put out more unbelief than anything else:
14 DO NOT BE UNEQUALLY YOKED TOGETHER WITH UNBELIEVERS. For what fellowship has RIGHTEOUSNESS with LAWLESSNESS? And what communion has LIGHT with DARKNESS? 15 And what accord has CHRIST with BELIAL? Or what part has a BELIEVER with an UNBELIEVER? 16 And what agreement has the TEMPLE OF GOD with IDOLS? For YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD [If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour]. As God has said: “I will DWELL in them And WALK among them. I WILL BE THEIR GOD, And they shall be MY PEOPLE.”
17 THEREFORE “COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM AND BE SEPARATE, says the Lord. DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN, AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU.” 18 “I will be a FATHER to you, AND YOU SHALL BE MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, says the LORD Almighty" (2 Corinthians 6:14–18 NKJV).
• What should a Believer think on (Philippians 4:8).
Fix your thoughts on what is true—honest—honourable, noble
just—right
pure—clean
lovely
admirable—good report
virtue—excellent
praise—worthy of praise
THINK ON THESE THINGS.
• As you work on your mind, you will rise, excel and fulfil in Life:
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, THAT YOU PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 AND DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD, BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that you may PROVE what is that GOOD and ACCEPTABLE and PERFECT WILL OF GOD" (Romans 12:1,2 NKJV).
- It takes a constant practice to make it done or happened.
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace!

Good morning, World Daily Devotionals for October 25, 2024
Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living
Devotional Scripture:
Proverbs 27:1 (KJV): 1 Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1 (AMP): 1 Do not boast of (yourself and) tomorrow, for you know not what a day may bring forth.
Thought for the Day
It is not good to boast about anything we might do, since we do not know what a day may bring. Jesus spoke to his disciples about this very thing in a parable in the New Testament. "And he said unto them, take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, the ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, what shall I do because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, this will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater, and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast many goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then who’s shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God" (Luke 12:15-21).
Many of those who strive to protect their fortunes for themselves, without any thought of others or God, could lose it all in one moment. Jesus warns against covetousness, since God does not measure wealth by worldly possessions. What God desires of us is that we become rich toward God. It is not wrong to have riches in this world, but it is wrong if we do not to use them as the Bible commands us to. True riches are spiritual possessions that are not dependent upon anything in the world, but upon God alone. They are the riches of glory: God's character, favor, protection, vision, revelation, and wisdom (Romans 11:33).
"He that trusteth in his riches shall fall, but the righteous shall flourish as a branch" (Proverbs 11:28). We need to trust God with each day because only He knows what it holds, and He is there to help us deal with any evil that we may encounter. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof" (Matthew 6:33-34).
May we never be like the man who boasts about his plans, but rather let us boast in the Lord, knowing that He knows the future and will never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what a day may bring. Let our boasting be in Him. "My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad" (Psalm 34:2). As we trust Him, He will meet every need of our lives according to the riches in glory by Christ Jesus! (Philippians 4:19 and Romans 9:23).
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear heavenly Father, we are so very thankful that we are children of Yours, and that You are always there to meet every need we may have. Our faith and trust are in You, and we know that whatever a day brings, you will be there with us. Give us the grace to deal with the problems that we must face. Also, may we remain humble when You reward us and bless us in special ways. May we always be mindful to give You thanks and praise for everything that You have done for us and our families. We do not want to take Your blessings for granted. All praise belongs to You! We pray this prayer together in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

What the Bible says about Babylonian System
Luke 21:24
In the sixth century BC, a new world—"the times of the Gentiles"—was ushered in. The Babylonian image has influenced the world since that time.
John W. Ritenbaugh Prophets and Prophecy (Part 3)
Galatians 1:4
Many professing Christians view everything from the perspective of this world, blindly assuming it is God's world. They see certain forces of evil in it, which they feel they must oppose. In this vein, they see the Christian duty as working to make this a better world.
However, this concept does not square with Scripture. The Bible speaks of Christ “deliver[ing] us from this present evil age” (Galatians 1:4). Human society is not of God's making, but Satn's, as are its systems of government, basic philosophies, and business and religious practices. All nations are deceived, swayed, manipulated by the Devl (Revelation 12:9; 20:2-3). In other words, our civilization is Satn's evil handiwork, not God's.
God's Word tells us to flee from the midst of Babylonian society (Isaiah 52:11; II Corinthians 6:17; Revelation 18:4). Speaking to the Jews, Jesus says, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world” (John 8:23). Later, when questioned by Pilate about His Kingdom, “Jesus answered, 'My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here'” (John 18:36). Although Jesus lived in this world, He clearly saw Himself as a “citizen” of God's heavenly Kingdom. The same holds true of those who follow Him (Philippians 3:20).

Revelation 18:11-13
The merchants, who gained wealth and perverse pleasures from this world's system of religion and commerce, cry and lament because it satiated their greed for materialistic acquisition and their lust for self-pleasure. As the Babylonian system incorporates every expression of corrupt government, so its prostitution includes every corrupt economic system and idolatry. Even human beings are reduced to cargo, traded as slaves to drive the engines of production, prosperity, and sinful pleasures.
Sadly, the modern descendants of Israel have promoted and become part of this self-serving, perverse world system. Sin inevitably brings its own punishment, and there are always consequences to disobedience. Thus, when today's Israelites go into captivity in the last days, t
