The Lord is My Shepherd (Ezekiel 34:11-24; John 10:1-21)
1 {A Psalm of David} The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. — Psalm 23 | King James Bible (KJV) The King James Version BIble is in the public domain Cross References: Deuteronomy 20:1; 2 Samuel 22:19; Job 10:21-22; Psalm 5:8; Psalm 16:5; Psalm 19:7; Psalm 25:7; Psam 25:10; Psalm 27:4; Psalm 31:19; Psalm 36:8; Psalm 46:4; Luke 7:46; John 10:11; Philippians 4:19; 1 Peter 2:25; Revelation 7:17

What does Jesus and the Bible teach about being a “good Christian”?
at the request of @iridescent-glass-bubbles, i wrote some scriptural advice. and i apologize for being long winded, but i wanted the verses to do a lot of the talking 😂🙏
The most important thing in learning to set a good example as a Christian is to continually read God’s Word.
Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know Me,” (NLT). And in the KJV, it says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” It means, how can we know God and His ways if we’re not actively reading about them? It’s much easier to be confused and led astray when you’re not familiar with what He’s said and how He works. (If you can read a novel, you can read Matthew or John or Romans.)
Similarly, what you’re constantly focusing on will affect how you think and act. Jesus says, “But the words you speak come from the heart- that’s what defiles you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander,” (Matthew 15:18). This is why Paul says in Colossians 3:2, “Think about the things of Heaven, not the things of earth.” And in Philippians 4:8, “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Fill up your heart with things of the Lord, and that’s when your actions will start to follow.
As for how Jesus wants us to act, it’s all through the New Testament, especially His “Sermon on the Mount” speech in Matthew. Among some are: don’t hate anyone (5:21-22), don’t seek revenge (5:38-42), love and be kind to those who hate you (5:43-48), forgive everyone without holding a grudge (6:14-5), and don’t let pride convince you you’re better than everyone else (7:1-5). He says in Matthew 22:37-38, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” The Golden Rule: treat others the way you’d want to be treated, is actually from the Bible (in Matthew 7:12).
A good summary is found in Colossians 3:12-15 which says, “Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with Love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.” (Also see the fruits of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23).
Jesus didn’t just teach these things, He lived them. Every account of a situation He was in is an example of how He honored these principles.
It sounds like a tall order, doesn’t it? The truth is we aren’t capable of being perfect examples of Christ. We mess up all the time. But the Holy Spirit can help us with these things. Jesus wants to grow us into bright lights that shine His love on everyone, but we need to be willing. I didn’t see that much change in myself until i started regularly reading the Bible and thinking on how He wanted me to act. And then i started putting in the effort to obey, and He provided the increase.
We can’t be “good Christians” if we’re relying only on our own efforts. But we’re called to listen to and obey the Lord and He will change us more and more into His image. As Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work in you, will continue his work until it is finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” So let God’s promises fill you with peace, stand for the truth, and love others even in difficult situations. 💙

What is the meaning of 2nd Thessalonians 2:8-11?
These are references of an impending spiritual rebellion, of unseen evils, and the rise of a powerful tyranical spiritual figure, the man of lawlessness. To those who are not followers of God and/or of the Heavenly sent Son, Jesus Christ, God sends a strong spirit of delusion, so they will succumb to the false teachings of the man of lawlessness... The antichrist. In conclusion it is now to be with God and His holy nature than to be against it. To gain nourishment for our soul is to read His word and to never abandon these truths.
What causes delusionment?
Ezekiel 7:19
They will throw away their money, tossing it out like worthless trash. It won’t buy their deliverance in that day of the Lord’s anger. It will neither satisfy nor feed them, for their love of money made them stumble into sin.
Misplaced affection
Philippians 3:3
For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort,
Misplaced confidence
Matthew 16:26
And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul?
Misplaced priorities
Ecclesiastes 4:16
He might become the leader of millions and be very popular. But then the next generation grows up and rejects him! So again, it is all meaningless, like chasing the wind.
Searching for satisfaction from any source other than what God’s Word says brings satisfaction
Ecclesiastes 4:4
Then I observed that most people are motivated to success by their envy of their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless, like chasing the wind.
Success motivated by envy
Jeremiah 23:16
“This is my warning to my people,” says the Lord Almighty. “Do not listen to these prophets when they prophesy to you, filling you with futile hopes. They are making up everything they say. They do not speak for the Lord!”
Hopes built on lies and half-truths
Ecclesiastes 6:9
Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless; it is like chasing the wind.
Discontentment
Romans 4:14-16
So if you claim that God’s promise is for those who obey God’s law and think they are “good enough” in God’s sight, then you are saying that faith is useless. And in that case, the promise is also meaningless. But the law brings punishment on those who try to obey it. (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!) So that’s why faith is the key! God’s promise is given to us as a free gift.
Seeking salvation through any other means than through faith in Jesus Christ
Jeremiah 10:15
Idols are worthless; they are lies! The time is coming when they will all be destroyed.
Worshiping anything other than the Lord
Titus 1:16
Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are despicable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.
Hypocritical living/ Compromised living
I personally believe that the life of compromise is following the beliefs of Baalim/ Baal and Ashtaroth mentioned in the Old testament. Which is basically a version of idolatry.
Judges 2:11 KJV
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
Judges 2:13 KJV
And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
Judges 10:6 KJV
And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.
Modern practices of Baal worship today that you may be unaware of.
Baal worship included promoting new, man-centered ideas for success in farming and fertility, as well as child sacrifice (known as abortion in this period), serving the matters of man that do not mention the true and living God. Wicked, "respected", and persuasive natures in individuals given in to those strongholds, personalities, and influence claiming they serve God but are partakers in sin and like it that way. Such as fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. A weak spirit in the person that is not aligned with God and his laws.
The Bible says that Solomon allowed and promoted the worship of Ashtoreth, Chemosh, Molech, and other pagan gods.
Through Solomon we find that wisdom alone is not sufficient; we must also have a heart of obedience. As believers we should realize that we’re also susceptible to this type of influence and deception.
Isaiah 42:18-20 KJV
Straight forward disobedience

10 Bible Verses About Joy
The Bible speaks a lot about joy, offering believers hope and encouragement. In both the Old Testaments and New Testaments, joy is described as a fruit of the Spirit and a response to God’s faithfulness. Joy is not just an emotion but a deep-rooted contentment found in God’s promises. Let’s explore 10 Bible verses about joy that will help you better understand its significance in the life of a Christian.
Tumblr media
10 Bible Verses About Joy
1. Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)
“…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10 is a powerful reminder that true joy comes from the Lord. When the Israelites heard the reading of the Law, they wept, but Nehemiah encouraged them to rejoice. This verse teaches that God’s joy provides strength in times of hardship and spiritual renewal. The joy that comes from knowing God sustains us, giving us the courage to face challenges and the assurance that His presence is always with us.
2. Psalm 16:11 (KJV)
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Psalm 16:11 highlights the joy that comes from being in God’s presence. It promises that in God’s presence, we experience the fullness of joy. This verse encourages us to seek a closer relationship with God because the more we dwell in His presence, the greater our joy becomes. God’s eternal pleasures are more satisfying than anything the world can offer.
3. Philippians 4:4 (KJV)
“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.”
In Philippians 4:4, Paul commands believers to rejoice in the Lord always. Despite being imprisoned, Paul wrote this letter with an emphasis on joy. This verse teaches us that joy is not based on circumstances, but on our relationship with God. Christians are called to rejoice at all times because God’s love and grace remain constant, even in difficult situations.
4. Romans 15:13 (KJV)
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
Romans 15:13 reveals the connection between joy, peace, and hope. This verse shows that joy is a result of faith and trust in God. When we believe in God, He fills us with joy and peace, allowing us to overflow with hope. This joy is made possible by the power of the Holy Spirit, who works within us to strengthen our faith.
5. Psalm 30:5 (KJV)
“…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Psalm 30:5 offers comfort to those going through trials and sorrows. It acknowledges that sorrow is a temporary part of life, but joy is inevitable for those who trust in God. No matter how dark or painful a situation may seem, God’s promise is that joy will return in the morning. This verse encourages believers to remain hopeful because God will turn their mourning into dancing.
6. James 1:2-3 (KJV)
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”
James 1:2-3 presents a surprising perspective on trials. It encourages believers to consider it joy when they face trials and temptations. The reason for this is that trials test and strengthen faith, producing perseverance. This joy is not based on the trials themselves but on the outcome they produce—a deeper faith and trust in God. Joy in trials reveals spiritual maturity and confidence in God’s plan.
7. John 15:11 (KJV)
“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”
In John 15:11, Jesus speaks about His desire for His followers to experience complete joy. This verse follows His teachings about abiding in Him and keeping His commandments. Jesus promises that by remaining connected to Him, believers can experience true joy. This joy is not temporary but a deep, abiding joy that comes from a close relationship with Christ.
8. Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…”
Galatians 5:22-23 teaches that joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. This means that joy is a natural result of the Holy Spirit’s work in the life of a believer. As Christians grow in their relationship with God and walk according to the Spirit, joy becomes a part of their character. This joy is not dependent on external factors but is rooted in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
9. 1 Peter 1:8 (KJV)
“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.”
1 Peter 1:8 speaks of a deep, unspeakable joy that comes from believing in Christ. Even though we have not seen Jesus with our eyes, our faith in Him brings overwhelming joy. This verse highlights the mysterious and powerful nature of Christian joy—joy that cannot be fully expressed in words. It is a joy rooted in the hope and assurance of salvation.
10. Isaiah 55:12 (KJV)
“For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
Isaiah 55:12 paints a beautiful picture of the joy and peace that come with following God’s ways. This prophetic verse speaks of the joy that will accompany God’s people as they follow Him. It is a reminder that joy is a hallmark of the Christian life, not only in this life but also in the age to come. God’s creation rejoices along with His people, pointing to the eternal joy found in His presence.
Application of Joy in the Christian Life
Joy is an essential part of the Christian life. The Bible makes it clear that joy comes from the Lord and is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Believers are called to rejoice always, even in difficult circumstances, because joy is rooted in the knowledge of God’s love, faithfulness, and eternal promises.
Joy Despite Circumstances
Many of the verses above show that joy is not dependent on external circumstances. Instead, it comes from a deep relationship with God and trust in His plan. Whether we are facing trials, persecution, or sorrow, the joy of the Lord can be our strength.
Joy and the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in producing joy in the life of a believer. Galatians 5:22 lists joy as a fruit of the Spirit, meaning it is a natural result of walking in step with the Spirit. Christians should seek to cultivate a life led by the Spirit to experience the fullness of joy that God offers.
The Source of Joy
True joy can only be found in God. The world may offer temporary happiness, but only God provides lasting, fulfilling joy. Psalm 16:11 tells us that in God’s presence is the fullness of joy. As believers, we should prioritize spending time with God through prayer, worship, and reading His Word to experience this joy.
Conclusion
Joy is a central theme throughout Scripture, and it is a gift that God gives to those who trust in Him. From the joy that comes from being in God’s presence to the joy that sustains us in trials, these 10 Bible verses about joy provide a clear picture of what it means to experience true, lasting joy as a follower of Christ. As believers, we are called to rejoice in the Lord always, knowing that our joy is secure in His promises and His presence.
By reflecting on these verses and applying them to our lives, we can better understand how to live joyfully, regardless of circumstances, and draw closer to the One who is the source of all joy.

APOSTLE PAUL IN ROME -- KJV (King James Version) Bible Verse List #Scriptures #BibleStudy #BibleVerses Visit https://www.billkochman.com/VerseLists/ to see more. As a matter of clarification, allow me to inform you that it is commonly believed that the Apostle Paul did not personally write all of his Epistles. Due to his poor eyesight -- which may have possibly been a result of the incident on the road to Damascus where the Lord struck down Paul, and left him blind for three days -- Paul was forced to dictate a number of his Epistles to his traveling companions. "After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome." Acts 19:21, KJV "And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome." Acts 23:11, KJV "And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli: Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome. And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage. And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him." Acts 28:13-16, KJV "To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ . . . So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also." Romans 1:7, 15, KJV "Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. [To the Galatians written from Rome.]" Galatians 6:18, KJV "Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. [Written from Rome to Colossians by Tychicus and Onesimus.]" Colossians 4:18, KJV "But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me." 2 Timothy 1:17, KJV "The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen. Daily Devotionals for August 18, 2024
Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living
Devotional Scripture:
Proverbs 23:1-3 (KJV): 1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: 2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. 3 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat. Proverbs 23:1-3 (AMP): 1 When you sit down to eat with a ruler, consider who and what are before you; 2 For you will put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to desire. 3 Be not desirous of his dainties, for it is deceitful food (offered with questionable motives).
Thought for the Day
Whatever dinner function we attend, our conduct should never bring reproach to Christ. We should always abstain from excessive drink or food that leads to drunkenness and gluttony. The phrase "put a knife to your throat" is a Jewish idiom which expresses the meaning that we can "kill an opportunity" if we care more about indulging at the dinner than finding out why we were invited and enjoying the fellowship. People who are gluttons and excessive drinkers lose respect in the eyes of others. Those given to fleshly or carnal appetites can make regrettable agreements while intoxicated, or be led into wicked partnerships by greed. The Bible teaches discipline and moderation in all things pertaining to appetite. "Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand" (Philippians 4:5).
Dinner invitations are perceived as expressions of friendship or approval. Dining encourages a pliable frame of mind. As one saying has it: "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach." The honor of dining with a powerful person can generate pride and an imprudent eagerness to please. His excellent foods can be deceiving. They may be offered with strings attached. A banquet can be given with the motive to win people over to the wrong side of issues. A charming host can be very persuasive. Some shrewd marketers use the "free meal" invitation to persuade people to invest in their schemes or buy their products, while others present legitimate offers. (Some people just like to entertain and be gracious, so this verse does not apply to all invitations, but only those given with wrong motives.) As Christians, we must not yield to manipulation just because someone has furnished a nice meal. Rich food and surroundings can easily arouse the desire for money and what it can buy, tempting one to become involved in something foolish. This is why it is important that we exercise moderation and self-control in all things.
We should also consider not overindulging in the overly-rich and unhealthy foods offered at these banquets. Although rich foods are now abundantly available to the average person in many countries, we would be wise to seek God about what we eat as well. Modern societies choose fast foods, and highly processed foods that contain multitudes of unhealthy additives, instead of foods in their natural forms as God created them. Doctors attribute many ailments to the Western diet, which is high in unhealthy fats and sugars. The overly sweet, salty, greasy, rich and processed foods to which we can become addicted truly qualify as "deceitful foods;" pleasing to the taste and appetite, but robbing the body of nutrients and filling it with toxins.
Daniel, a captive from Israel in Babylon, was given the extremely rich diet of the Gentile king, but requested for himself and his friends a simple diet of pulse (legumes such as beans and lentils, as well as fruits and vegetables). Not only were Daniel and his friends healthier than those who ate rich foods, but God blessed them because they abstained from food that was not good for them. God will also bless us, as we seek to honor Him with our eating habits (Daniel 1:8-17).
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear heavenly Father, I am thankful for the variety of the many foods You created for us to enjoy. I do appreciate all the wonderful things You made for us to eat and enjoy. Lord, give us wisdom in the area of eating. Forgive us for partaking in any form of gluttony. Lord, help us to eat in moderation and deliver us from any lust and addiction to food. Help all of Your people who are struggling with being overweight to overcome in this area. Correct our appetites so that we do not desire those things that are bad for us, and help us not to over-indulge in food and drink. Give us strength to resist the temptation to continue eating more than we need. May You be "Lord of the Fork" in my life. I ask in the name of Jesus. Amen. From: Steven P. Open Heaven Daily Devotional 9th January 2023 By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – It Shall Be Well 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Open Heaven Daily Devotional - It Shall Be Well 1
The Topic of Open Heavens for 9th January 2024 Is “It Shall Be Well 1”
MEMORISE: “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” – Psalm 92:12 (KJV) READ:   Isaiah 3:10 (KJV) 10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY
The old year has just passed with all its ups and downs. There is a tendency to think that things will remain the same or even become worse based on man’s projections and forecasts. However, according to our Bible reading today, I speak into your life and declare that, “It shall be well with you!” As assuring as this prophetic message from the Lord is, we must not lose sight of the truth embedded in our Bible reading: it is the righteous that will be singled out for wellness. Our memory verse for today affirms this as well. Beloved, I encourage you to live righteously in this new year if you want it to be well with you, your family, your business, your finances, and everything that concerns you. One question you might, however, be asking yourself is, “How can one be righteous in this perverse generation when the Bible says in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God?” The answer to this question is very simple; the Bible tells us in (1 John 1:9) that if we confess our sins, God will forgive us, and the blood of Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, will cleanse us from all sin. Isaiah 64:6 also says: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. The above scriptures establish the truth that we cannot cleanse ourselves and become acceptable to God by our own efforts; only the righteousness of God, which is obtainable through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, is acceptable to God (Philippians 3:3-9). Truly, many forecasts have projected that the year may be challenging, but I assure you that those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under His shadow (Psalm 91:1), and they will be shielded from any evil that may be lurking ahead. The Bible, however, clearly says that God cannot behold iniquity (Habakkuk 1:13). This implies that you must have the righteousness of God through Christ if you want to access the secret place of the Most High. As you surrender your life to Jesus and walk in His righteousness all through this year and beyond, I decree once again that all shall be well with you. Open Heaven 9 January 2024 KEY POINT Those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High will enjoy all-round well-ness for the rest of their lives. Open Heaven 9 January 2024 HYMN 29 – When Peace Like A River Attendeth My Way 1 When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, “It is well, it is well with my soul.” Refrain (may be sung after final stanza only): It is well with my soul; it is well, it is well with my soul. 2 Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, let this blest assurance control: that Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and has shed his own blood for my soul. Refrain 3 My sin oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! my sin, not in part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more; praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! Refrain 4 O Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll; the trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend; even so, it is well with my soul. THE POWER OF THOUGHTS
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are TRUE, whatever things are NOBLE, whatever things are JUST, whatever things are PURE, whatever things are LOVELY, whatever things are of GOOD REPORT, if there is any VIRTUE and if there is anything PRAISEWORTHY—MEDITATE ON THESE THINGS.
9 The things which you LEARNED and RECEIVED and HEARD and SAW in me, these DO, and the God of peace will be with you."
Philippians 4:8,9 (NKJV)
Tumblr media
• Your thoughts determine your state in life. The Scripture says: “For as HE THINKS IN HIS HEART, SO IS HE” (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV).
- Your thoughts make or mar you. Another passage of the Bible says:
"KEEP thy heart with all DILIGENCE; For out of it are the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23 KJV).
- The position or the level you are today, is a result of your yesterday thoughts. Thoughts are the pivots on which a person's life rotates.
-            The Bible talks on what to think on and what not to think on (Philippians 4:8).
It is those things you permitted in your mind that become your thoughts.
• The origin of thoughts: thoughts are governed by observations, associations, and teachings.
(i) Observations: what you observed and retained the picture in your mind, will affect and influence your thought—positively or negatively.
- This is the reason why you should discipline yourself about things you watch on line, or on the television, and things you observe in other people's lives.
- Thus, whoever you are following as a mentor, should be someone who is following Christ. If the person misses it, do not follow that!
- Paul admonishes the Believers in Corinth and every believer in Christ Jesus: "IMITATE [follow] ME, JUST AS I ALSO IMITATE [follow] CHRIST (1 Corinthians 11:1 NKJV).
- Also, he told the Philippian Christians and the Believers in general: "The things which you LEARNED [through your association with me] and RECEIVED [through impartation and teachings] and HEARD [through my teachings] and SAW [observed] in ME [Paul], these do, and the God of peace will be with you" (Philippians 4:9 NKJV).
- As long as the person is following Christ, it is all right to keep following such a person (Philippians 4:9). Because, following is needed to get to where you are going in Christ, however, make sure you are following the right person—someone who is following Christ Jesus:
"REMEMBER THOSE WHO RULE OVER YOU [leaders in Christ], who have spoken the Word of God to you, WHOSE FAITH FOLLOW, CONSIDERING THE OUTCOME OF THEIR CONDUCT" (Hebrews 13:7 NKJV).
- Discipline your eyes, make a vow not to use your eyes to watch any evil—whatever is not edifying:
“I [Job] MADE A COVENANT WITH MY EYES NOT TO LOOK WITH LUST AT A YOUNG WOMAN" (Job 31:1 NLT).
- There is difference between seeing and looking—observing. When you see what cannot edify you, that can lead to lustfulness, then take your eyes away, do not look keenly.
- Seeing might not be a sin per se, but looking, closed observation, might lead to sin, because it will affect your thoughts negatively: "But I [Jesus] say to you that WHOEVER LOOKS AT A WOMAN TO LUST FOR HER HAS ALREADY COMMITTED ADULTERY WITH HER IN HIS HEART" (Matthew 5:28 NKJV).
- Thus, you will do well to uninstall that app on your phone, or on any other devices of yours, that is fanning lusts in you, or causing you to lust and masturbate:
9 Do you not know that the UNRIGHTEOUS WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD? Do not be deceived. Neither FORNICATORS, nor idolaters, nor ADULTERERS, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor SODOMITES, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners WILL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD" (1 Corinthians 6:9,10).
(ii) Associations. There is power in influence. The people you associate with tend to influence your thought life—positively or negatively.
- The Bible says: “Do not be deceived: "EVIL COMPANY CORRUPTS GOOD HABITS" (1 Corinthians 15:33 NKJV).
- Whom you associate with determines how you behave (Proverbs 1:10).
- What you see the people around you doing, and hear them saying or talking, could be registered in your mind—memory and later replay back to you at your time of relaxation or when you are lonely.
- Thus, you have the responsibility to guard your mind and sieve whatever would be allowed to go in there: "KEEP YOUR HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE, for out of it spring the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV).
- It is better not to see and hear the evils being done around you, than trying to flush them out in your mind after being absorbed.
- If you stayed around the negative people, those who wallow in sin, you might come to realize that you begin to reason and think like them (Proverbs 1:10-29; 1 Corinthians 15:33). And vice versa, if you stay around the positive people: "HE WHO WALKS WITH WISE MEN WILL BE WISE, But the COMPANION OF FOOLS will be DESTROYED" (Proverbs 13:20 NKJV).
- Your Association determines your thoughts!
(iii) Teachings. The teachings you listen to, on line or radio, or read in a book, or a magazine; will influence your thoughts.
WHEN you are listening to someone's teachings through any device, or reading them in their books, you are rubbing your mind with that of the person.
- If you can listen to someone's teachings, their ideologies, for a good period of time, you will begin to think like the person.
- Avoid poisonous and contaminated contents: Junk, unedifying contents, on social media, or television, or reading books or magazines that could not edify you—help or contribute to your spiritual Growth.
- What you hear or read determines your thoughts. Whatever you programme into your mind, what you put into it, is what it gives back to you.
- Endeavour to put the right words in your mind, for you to have sound and good thoughts that could make you fulfil in life as a believer.
• Admonition
* What do you observe? That which you always look or explore will dominate your thought life.
* Who are your friends? Those whom you associate with, will influence your thoughts.
* What are you hearing and reading? The Teachings you listen to, or read, determine your thoughts.
• Stay Away
- Stay away from all places and things that do not support your conviction in God's Word, that do not contribute to your faith.
- You may even have to stay away from some so-called Believers, some who are unbelieving Believers, or certain gatherings; those who put out more unbelief than anything else:
14 DO NOT BE UNEQUALLY YOKED TOGETHER WITH UNBELIEVERS. For what fellowship has RIGHTEOUSNESS with LAWLESSNESS? And what communion has LIGHT with DARKNESS? 15 And what accord has CHRIST with BELIAL? Or what part has a BELIEVER with an UNBELIEVER? 16 And what agreement has the TEMPLE OF GOD with IDOLS? For YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD [If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour]. As God has said: “I will DWELL in them And WALK among them. I WILL BE THEIR GOD, And they shall be MY PEOPLE.”
17 THEREFORE “COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM AND BE SEPARATE, says the Lord. DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN, AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU.” 18 “I will be a FATHER to you, AND YOU SHALL BE MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, says the LORD Almighty" (2 Corinthians 6:14–18 NKJV).
• What should a Believer think on (Philippians 4:8).
Fix your thoughts on what is true—honest—honourable, noble
just—right
pure—clean
lovely
admirable—good report
virtue—excellent
praise—worthy of praise
THINK ON THESE THINGS.
• As you work on your mind, you will rise, excel and fulfil in Life:
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, THAT YOU PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 AND DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD, BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that you may PROVE what is that GOOD and ACCEPTABLE and PERFECT WILL OF GOD" (Romans 12:1,2 NKJV).
- It takes a constant practice to make it done or happened.
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace!

The Lord is My Shepherd
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
— Psalm 23 | King James Version (KJV) The King James Version Bible is in the public domain. ‘I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?’ Isaiah 43:19 NIV
Your life will manifest what you continually keep in front of you. Paul says, ‘We have the mind of Christ’ (1 Corinthians 2:16 NIV), and creativity and vision are part of the package. You need a vision to look forward to if you want to change the circumstances in your life. If you have problems, you’re in debt, or lonely, create a vision for what you’d like your life to be. See yourself stronger and healthier, in a good financial position, in a wonderful relationship.
Once you’ve created a vision, you need to take steps to move towards making it a reality. You need to change the way you think. Let the image of victory take hold. Remind yourself of these Scriptural truths:
(1) ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ (Philippians 4:13 KJV)
(2) ‘We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.’ (Romans 8:37 NIV)
(3) ‘Surely, Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with your favour.’ (Psalm 5:12 NIV)
(4) ‘Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;’ (Psalm 23:6 NKJV).
In Bible times wine was stored in leather wineskins, but as the wineskins aged, they lost their flexibility. New wine always required new wineskins. And just as ‘you can’t pour new wine into old wineskins’ (see Matthew 9:17), God can’t give you a new vision until you change the old attitudes you’re carrying around in your head.
God says, ‘I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?’ He is ready to do something new in your life today.
Are you ready to change your old way of thinking and make room for it?

Week 05 / A Study In 1 Corinthians / Revealed To Us Through God's Spirit
October 18 2022 Tuesday
Week 05 / A Study In 1 Corinthians
Revealed To Us Through God's Spirit
Ephesians 1:15-23 NLT
'Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.’
Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT
'When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.'

Daily Devotionals for July 9, 2024
Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living
Devotional Scripture:
Proverbs 20:13(KJV): 13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread. Proverbs 20:13(NIV): 13 Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare.
Thought for the Day
To be successful, a disciplined life must be cultivated; and laziness, in the form of over-sleeping must be overcome. Satan tries to destroy us because we are beloved of God and the foremost of His creation in the universe. Therefore, he tempts to pervert the things God gives as blessings. The Bible teaches that we should be self-controlled; practicing moderation in all things (Galatians 5:22-23), including our enjoyment of food and rest. "Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand" (Philippians 4:5). Good food is enjoyable to eat and sustains our bodies, but overindulgence makes us unhealthy. Proper rest repairs our bodies and refreshes our minds, but sleeping too much makes us lazy - which in turn, leads to poverty.
A disciplined Christian life is difficult to establish, and we all need the Holy Spirit's help to accomplish this. Getting up early to pray and to seek God about the day and meditate upon His Word is not easy, but it brings great reward. It honors God, and He then honors us by setting the tone for the day and guiding us from its beginning. When I neglect to seek God at the start of the day, it not only begins wrong, but inevitably some problem arises that I am unprepared to face. I am then forced to stop in the middle of the workday to pray in order to get back on track. "Preventative prayers" require less time than "corrective prayers." When I seek God first in the day, He prepares me for what lies ahead and guides me so that mistakes are avoided.
Physicians say that we need seven to ten hours of sleep each night. Part of the discipline of rising early is learning to go to bed earlier. As a young Christian, I struggled with getting up early enough to carve a time for God into my morning schedule. When I asked my pastor for prayer about this problem, he did not immediately pray; instead, he asked me what time was I going to bed. When I told him 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. every night, he simply told me that if I wanted to get up earlier, I should go to bed earlier. Since I could not break the habit at that time, I began praying at night before I went to sleep. I would pray about the next day, and the Lord honored this arrangement until I could let Him deal with my habit of staying up late. I am still awake more in the evenings than in the mornings, as the Lord knows about the internal clock in me that still needs some adjusting. However, what He really cares about is that we set a time to pray consistently. As long as we do that, He will meet us. We just need to form a habit that allows nothing to prevent us from seeking God at the time we decide upon - whether morning, noon, or night - and preferably all three like Daniel in Daniel 6:10. That is my goal.
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for Your kindness toward me in working with me to overcome the areas of my life that need more discipline. I do want a prayer life that is pleasing to You. Help me in this endeavor. Correct those areas in my life that would hinder me from spending more time with You. Grant me the grace to overcome any laziness that tempts me. Fill me with Your Spirit this day and let me be a blessing in this life to all I come in contact with. I ask this in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
