Moses and Aaron Before Pharaoh
1 And the Lord said to Moses, See I have made you a god to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother will be your prophet.
2 Say whatever I give you orders to say: and Aaron your brother will give word to Pharaoh to let the children of Israel go out of his land.
3 And I will make Pharaoh's heart hard, and my signs and wonders will be increased in the land of Egypt.
4 But Pharaoh will not give ear to you, and I will put my hand on Egypt, and take my armies, my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt, after great punishments.
5 And the Egyptians will see that I am the Lord, when my hand is stretched out over Egypt, and I take the children of Israel out from among them.
6 And Moses and Aaron did so: as the Lord gave them orders, so they did.
7 And Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they gave the Lord's word to Pharaoh.
8 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,
9 If Pharaoh says to you, Let me see a wonder: then say to Aaron, Take your rod and put it down on the earth before Pharaoh so that it may become a snake.
10 Then Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and they did as the Lord had said: and Aaron put his rod down on the earth before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a snake.
11 Then Pharaoh sent for the wise men and the wonder-workers, and they, the wonder-workers of Egypt, did the same with their secret arts.
12 For every one of them put down his rod on the earth, and they became snakes: but Aaron's rod made a meal of their rods.
13 But Pharaoh's heart was made hard, and he did not give ear to them, as the Lord had said.
14 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, Pharaoh's heart is unchanged; he will not let the people go.
15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning; when he goes out to the water, you will be waiting for him by the edge of the Nile, with the rod which was turned into a snake in your hand;
16 And say to him, The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, Let my people go so that they may give me worship in the waste land; but up to now you have not given ear to his words.
17 So the Lord says, By this you may be certain that I am the Lord; see, by the touch of this rod in my hand the waters of the Nile will be turned to blood;
18 And the fish in the Nile will come to destruction, and the river will send up a bad smell, and the Egyptians will not be able, for disgust, to make use of the water of the Nile for drinking.
19 And the Lord said, Say to Aaron, Let the rod in your hand be stretched out over the waters of Egypt, and over the rivers and the streams and the pools, and over every stretch of water, so that they may be turned to blood; and there will be blood through all the land of Egypt, in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.
20 And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord had said; and when his rod had been lifted up and stretched out over the waters of the Nile before the eyes of Pharaoh and his servants, all the water in the Nile was turned to blood;
21 And the fish in the Nile came to destruction, and a bad smell went up from the river, and the Egyptians were not able to make use of the water of the Nile for drinking; and there was blood through all the land of Egypt.
22 And the wonder-workers of Egypt did the same with their secret arts: but Pharaoh's heart was made hard, and he would not give ear to them, as the Lord had said.
23 Then Pharaoh went into his house, and did not take even this to heart.
24 And all the Egyptians made holes round about the Nile to get drinking-water, for they were not able to make use of the Nile water.
25 And seven days went past, after the Lord had put his hand on the Nile. — Exodus 7 | Bible in Basic English (BBE) The Bible in Basic English is in the public domain Cross References: Genesis 6:22; Genesis 41:8; Exodus 2:5; Exodus 3:13; Exodus 3:19-20; Exodus 4:3; Exodus 4:9; Exodus 4:15-16; Exodus 4:21; Exodus 6:1; Exodus 8:1; Exodus 8:18; Exodus 9:7; Deuteronomy 11:3; 2 Kings 4:29; Psalm 105:29; Isaiah 19:6; John 2:18; Acts 7:23; Acts 7:36; 2 Timothy 3:8-9; Revelation 8:8

Not to "well aktsually 🤓" you @germiyahu, but there was at least one person who pathologically DID study Talmud for vile and dishonest purposes:
I do think this history is very important for understanding how twisted versions of Talmud get used even today to inspire antisemitic hate crimes.
Another important note about this: THIS is why it's not only important to verify whether the quotes are real or not, but to also research what the text is actually saying in context. This is a difficult enough task that you may want to ask a rabbi if there are particularly troubling passages without immediately helpful commentary.
Antisemites really do just pull Talmud citations out of their asses and hope that gentiles don't know how to look it up. If some Nazi goon on twitter says "Sanhedrin 59a: It is not forbidden to murder a gentile because gentiles are like unto beasts," I can just go on Sefaria and look, and see that the Rabbis discuss nothing even close to that (never mind that any Rabbi who asserted such a thing would get his ass beat by later commentators). Nowhere in this debate is the notion that gentiles are like wild animals, or even whether it's permitted to murder gentiles at all, brought up? This conclusion that the Nazi comes to must be made out of whole cloth, or else repeated from someone else who made it out of whole cloth.
#jumblr#antisemitism#also an example of a particularly unhinged and obsessive antisemite#how do you spend twenty years of your life devoted to text study and community#and *still* hate these teachers and ''friends'' so much that you would betray them like this?#how do you have that much hate in your heart? how??#I never understood the ''hardening of Pharaoh's heart'' thing until I read about this man#it's honestly sickening#and that community - how could they ever begin to trust gerim in the future? what happened to the other gerim already there?#it's just vile

In the heart of ancient Egypt, the grand palace of Pharaoh Rafael stood tall under the relentless sun. The golden walls reflected the heat, making the air shimmer with the promise of a lover's touch. You, a humble servant, moved through the palace, your bare feet silent on the cool stone. The tray of fresh fruits in your hands was forgotten as the deep, commanding voice of the ruler echoed through the corridor.
"Y/N."
Rafael, the pharaoh, was a man of power and authority. His gaze, as sharp as a falcon's, bore into you, making your heart race. "Your Majesty," you bowed low, your trembling hands barely visible beneath the tray.
"Rise," he commanded, his voice low and deliberate. You obeyed, your gaze still fixed on the floor, your breath hitching as he moved closer. The scent of myrrh and lotus oil enveloped you, intoxicating yet suffocating.
"I've noticed you, Y/N," he said, his voice low and deliberate. "You are unlike the others. So obedient, so quiet... and yet, you try to avoid me."
"I-I would never, Your Majesty," you stammered, your heart pounding in your chest.
Rafael's hand reached out, gently lifting your chin. His gaze was intense, his eyes dark with desire. "I want you," he said, his voice barely a whisper. "I want to feel your body beneath mine, to hear your cries of pleasure as I make you mine."
His words sent a shiver down your spine, your body responding to his desire. You could feel your nipples harden beneath the thin fabric of your dress, your pussy aching for his touch.
Rafael's lips captured yours, his tongue exploring your mouth with an urgency that left you breathless. His hands roamed your body, cupping your breasts, pinching your nipples through the fabric. You moaned into his mouth, your hands reaching out to grasp his thick, hard cock through his kilt.
He broke the kiss, his eyes burning with desire. "Strip for me," he commanded, his voice thick with lust. You obeyed, your hands trembling as you removed your dress, revealing your naked body to him. His eyes roamed over you, taking in your curves, your full breasts, your wet pussy.
Rafael dropped to his knees before you, his hands parting your legs. His tongue darted out, licking your clit, making you gasp. He continued to lick and suck, his tongue probing your pussy, making you writhe with pleasure.
You could feel your orgasm building, your body tensing with anticipation. Rafael's fingers found your g-spot, pushing you over the edge. You cried out, your body trembling as waves of pleasure washed over you.
Rafael stood, his cock hard and ready. He guided you to the edge of a nearby table, bending you over it. You could feel his dick at your entrance, teasing you. With one quick thrust, he was inside you, filling you completely.
He fucked you hard and fast, his hands gripping your hips, pulling you back to meet each of his thrusts. You could feel your second orgasm building, your body trembling with anticipation. Rafael's hand reached around, finding your clit, rubbing it in circles.
You cried out, your body shuddering as you came again, your pussy clenching around his dick. Rafael groaned, his body tensing as he came inside you, filling you with his hot cum.
He pulled out, his cock still hard. "I want more," he said, his voice hoarse with desire. He turned you around, pushing you onto the table. His fingers found your ass, probing it, preparing you for what was to come.
You gasped as he entered you, his dick stretching you in a way that was both painful and pleasurable. He fucked you slowly at first, letting your body adjust to his size. But soon, he was pounding into you, his hips slapping against your ass.
You could feel another orgasm building, your body shaking with pleasure. Rafael reached around, finding your clit again, rubbing it in circles. You cried out, your body shuddering as you came, your ass clenching around his dick.
Rafael groaned, his body tensing as he came again, filling your ass with his hot cum. He pulled out, his dick still hard. "You are mine," he said, his voice firm and possessive.
You smiled, your body still trembling from the pleasure he had given you. "I am yours, Your Majesty," you said, your voice breathless.
And so, under the watchful gaze of the sun god, you became the pharaoh's lover, bound to him by desire and pleasure. Your days of blending into the background were over. From now on, you would be the one who would make the pharaoh's heart race, who would make him moan with pleasure. And you couldn't wait.

The portions of the Torah read in most synagogues during the last two weeks included the hardening of Pharaoh's heart and its disastrous consequences for Egypt. In contrast there have been many recent heartening and enheartening events and activities in Israel which are strengthening the nation and benefiting the world.
Medical news includes the US launch of a unique Israeli respiratory system to boost the heart's function of oxygenating the blood in life-support patients. Read how Israeli charity Belev Echad ("One Heart") helps rehabilitate wounded IDF soldiers. The AI system of Israeli emergency NGO United Hatzalah sent its EMTs to a shopping mall to treat a heart attack patient that it had predicted would need saving. And it certainly was a heart-stopping moment when an El Al passenger had a heart attack and was saved thanks to the Head of Hadassah hospital being on the flight.
There have been many enheartening stories in the last week, not least that of released hostages being reunited with their loved ones. The sight of Israeli SmartAID volunteers restoring power to dialysis patients in Los Angeles. New housing for Israeli lone soldiers. Free scholarships for ex-hostages at Israeli Universities. And the Swedish Member of the European Parliament who fights anti-Zionism.
Finally, thanks to the generous hearts of Australians who made cases for mezuzahs that will be fixed to the doors of residents of Israel returning to their rebuilt homes. And we hope that the heart of 101-year-old Walter Bingham, the world's oldest journalist, will keep beating until he reaches 120.

Frogs
1 The Lord said to Moses, ‘Go to Pharaoh and say to him, “This is the message from the Lord: Let my people go so that they may worship me. 2 If you refuse to let them go, I will send thousands of frogs to bring trouble to your whole country. 3 The Nile river will be full of frogs. The frogs will go into your house. They will jump into your bed. They will go into the houses of your servants. They will go into the houses of your people. They will jump into your ovens and into your dishes. 4 The frogs will jump all over you. They will jump on your people and on all your servants.” ’
5 Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Say to Aaron, “Take your stick in your hand. Then raise your hand over the rivers, the streams and the pools. You will cause frogs to come up over the whole of Egypt.” ’
6 So Aaron lifted up his hand over the water of Egypt. Then the frogs came up and they covered the whole of Egypt.
7 But the magicians used their magic to do the same thing. They also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.
8 Then Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron to come to him. He said, ‘Pray to the Lord. Ask him to remove the frogs from me and from my people. Then I will let your people go. They can offer sacrifices to the Lord.’
9 Moses said to Pharaoh, ‘I will let you choose the time when I should pray to God. Then I will ask God to do this for you, for your servants and for your people. I will ask God to remove the frogs from you and from all your houses. The frogs will remain only in the Nile river.’
10 Pharaoh said, ‘Do it tomorrow.’ Moses answered, ‘I will do what you have asked. Then you will know that there is nobody like the Lord our God. 11 The frogs will go away from you and your houses. They will go away from your servants and your people. They will remain only in the river.’
12 So Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh. Then Moses prayed to the Lord about the frogs that he had brought to punish Pharaoh. 13 And the Lord did what Moses asked. The frogs in the houses, in the yards and in the fields all died. 14 The people swept the frogs together to make big heaps. There was a very bad smell over the whole country. 15 But when Pharaoh saw that the trouble had gone, his mind became hard again. He refused to listen to Moses and Aaron. The Lord had said that this would happen, and it did!
Gnats
16 Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Say to Aaron, “Lift up your stick and hit the dirt on the ground. It will become gnats in the whole land of Egypt.” ’
17 Moses and Aaron obeyed God. Aaron lifted up his hand and he hit the dirt with his stick. The dirt became gnats that flew onto all the people and onto all the animals. The dirt on the ground became gnats all over Egypt. 18 Then the Egyptian magicians tried to use their magic to make gnats appear. But they could not do it. The gnats were on all the people and on all the animals.
19 Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, ‘This is the work of God.’ But there was no change in Pharaoh's thoughts. He would not listen to them. The Lord had said that this would happen, and it did!
Flies
20 Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Get up early in the morning. Meet Pharaoh when he goes out to the river. Then say to him, “The Lord says: You must let my people go. Let them go to worship me. 21 If you do not let my people go, I will send thousands of flies on you. I will send them on your servants and on your people. I will send them into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies. The flies will cover all the ground where people live.
22 But it will be different in the region of Goshen, where my people live. I will not send flies there. Then you will know that I, the Lord, am doing my work here in this land. 23 I will make a difference between my people and your people. This miracle will happen tomorrow.” ’
24 That is what the Lord did. Great numbers of flies came into Pharaoh's house and into his servants' houses. The flies went all over Egypt and they destroyed the whole land.
25 Then Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron to come to him. He said to them, ‘Go! You can offer sacrifices to your God here, in Egypt.’ 26 But Moses said, ‘It would not be right to do that. The Egyptians do not like our sacrifices of animals. If we offer these sacrifices to the Lord our God, the Egyptians will be angry with us. They will throw stones at us to kill us. 27 So we must go on a journey for three days into the desert. We will offer sacrifices to the Lord our God there, as he has told us to do.’
28 So Pharaoh said, ‘I will let you go. You may go into the desert and offer sacrifices to the Lord your God there. But do not go very far away. And pray for me too.’
29 Then Moses said, ‘I will leave you now, and I will pray to the Lord. Tomorrow, all the flies will go away from you, your officers and your people. But be careful! Do not deceive us, as you did before. You must really let the people go away to offer sacrifices to the Lord.’
30 So Moses left Pharaoh and he prayed to the Lord. 31 The Lord did what Moses asked him. All the flies left Pharaoh, his officers and his people. Not one fly remained! 32 But again, Pharaoh's mind became hard. He refused to let the people go. — Exodus 8 | EasyEnglish Bible (EASY) EasyEnglish Bible Copyright © MissionAssist 2019 - Charitable Incorporated Organisation 1162807. All rights reserved. Notes: Exodus 8 is an important chapter in the story of the Exodus, as it shows how God displays His glory and justice through the plagues, and how He makes a distinction between His people and the Egyptians. It also shows how Pharaoh resists God's will, and how his heart is hardened by his own sin and by God's judgment.
Key Passages in Exodus 8
1. Frogs are sent 8. Pharaoh complains to Moses, who by prayer removes them 16. The dust is turned into lice, which the magicians could not do 20. The plague of flies 25. Pharaoh inclines to let the people go, but yet is hardened

Some notes I wrote while reading the book of Exodus:
God hardened Pharaoh’s heart so the Israelites could bear witness to his miracles, and thus, strengthen their faith in him.
Pharaoh’s pride led to the destruction of others. Moses’ humility led to blessings for others.
God called for all the first borns of Israel to be sanctified (set apart, or to be holy). Jesus is sanctified, and is he first born of many brothers and sisters in Christ.
God bless, Jesus loves you ✝️❤️

This just in, on "God is an asshole."
I'm reading Exodus, and apparently, God is hardening the Pharaoh's heart the entire time so that the Pharaoh will keep refusing to let the lord's people go and He can continue to show off more of his miracles.
That's not me reading between the lines or anything. That's literally, explicitly the point of the Exodus story.

Wolfy, you have not only dragged me into the EPICS, but also now into the prince of Egypt (I'm on my first watch) I did not expect it to be this good, although I'm a little confused on what's going on This is infact an invitation so you can ramble if you please yes yes
HI YES PRINCE OF EGYPT INCREDIBLE MOVIE
It details the story of Moses, specifically found in the book of Exodus (aka, a departure or emigration), and also the story of Passover, a Jewish tradition. If any of my Jewish followers want to talk about that, feel free! My knowledge is very surface level and mostly from what I've read from the bible.
But so yeah at that time, the Hebrew people were slaves under the Egyptian rule, but they were multiplying too much and the pharaoh got nervous. So he ordered that any infant child be taken and thrown into the river. Moses was a baby at that time, and so he would've met the criteria of baby throwing. His mother did not vibe with that order and took Moses, placed him in a waterproof basket, and sent him down the river to hopefully find a better future than drowning. He ends up floating by the royal palace and gets found by the princess, daughter of the pharaoh(tho in the movie they changed her to be the wife instead) who takes a liking to him and decides to adopt him. In the bible, Miriam (his sister who the mother sends to follow him) asks the princess if she'd like a nursemaid, claiming to know someone (that someone being Moses' mother), and the princess agrees, so Moses gets to be with his family for a few years before going back to the palace. In the movie they don't have that and he's taken in directly with Miriam just praying he be safe and come back to them one day. So it's not very explicit in the bible but love the relationship between him and Rameses (I don't think he was actually named in the bible, but historians figured it was him based on contextual evidence) godbless and then he accidentally kills a guy and runs away. He meets tzipporah and his family and gets welcomed in and married and stuff. So the burning bush. Moses' destiny, if you will, is to save his people, and God tells him as much. Go back to Egypt and free his people. Moses doesn't think himself up to it but God says he'll be with him. So he goes back and does. Rameses refuses because that's his entire workforce, and in retaliation God sends down the 10 plagues. With each plague, Rameses hardens his heart and he refused to let Moses' people go. Until the tenth and final plague, the death of the firstborn. Any household with lamb's blood painted on their doorpost, the angel of death will pass over (AYEEE Passover). The Hebrews knew this but the Egyptians did not. Finally, at the death of his own son, Rameses tells Moses that his people are free.
They take their stuff and go. Thing is, to be actually free, they'd have to cross the wilderness. But there's a pesky sea blocking their way, which isn't very great for the whole crossing the wilderness thing. Also, the Egyptians had a change of heart and are going to get them back. So they're trapped between the sea and the enemy. God sends down a pillar of fire to stall them (though iirc in the bible it's like a cloud of darkness and a pillar of light depending on who you were) and while that's happening, Moses goes over and strikes his staff into the water. And the red sea parts before him, giving them a straight path across. You know the rest, with the people crossing and the waters coming down to drown the army and stuff. So now they're officially free from the Egyptians! But they're not done yet, because the main goal is to reach the Promised Land, and Moses is designated to lead them. They do skip ahead a few chapters and have Moses already grab the two stone tablets with the ten commandments, that doesn't happen until later and involves a golden calf haha

The heart of the man who repeatedly denies God hardens by itself, because God abandons that man to himself.
hashem אֲחַזֵּ֣ק the heart of pharaoh—this is in piel imperfect, a tense reserved for intensive and resulting action. there is nothing passive here, and this ancient near eastern god, especially for the early yahwist source, refuses to remain remote or noninvolved

Chat, can I get a theory about why "the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart"? I want to see all your explanations for why God sent the plagues against Egypt if he was also hardening Pharaoh's heart?
