A day in the life of a comic book artist and his family in post-Soviet Russia. While suffering from the flu, Petrov is carried by his friend Igor on a long walk, drifting in and out of fantasy and reality.

The plot summary gives a good indication of what to expect. But it has to be watched to experience the energy it has. It's a chaotic, surreal tour de force where a lot is going on. It's virtuoso on a technical level. And often darkly funny.

It slows down for a while in the second half when time switches back to (I think) childhood memories. It feels like a different movie. But it's fine to get a break from the frantic pace of the rest.

I love how Chulpan Khamatova turns up in all kinds of films. I always enjoy seeing her.
