Favorite Costume Movie and Television Productions Set During CHRISTMAS
Below is a list of my favorite costume movie and television productions set during the Christmas holidays. The list is in chronological order:
FAVORITE COSTUME MOVIE AND TELEVISION PRODUCTIONS SET DURING CHRISTMAS
1. "Three Godfathers" (1936) - Richard Boleslawski directed this seventh movie adaptation of Peter B. Kyne's 1913 novel about three bank robbers who become godfathers to a newborn child of a dying mother, after robbing a bank in 19th century Arizona. The movie starred Chester Morris, Lewis Stone and Walter Brennan.
2. "The Lion in the Winter" (1968) - Peter O'Toole and Oscar winner Katherine Hepburn starred in this movie adaptation of James Goldman's 1966 Broadway play about the personal and political conflicts of Henry II of England, his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, their children and guests during Christmas 1183. Directed by Anthony Harvey, the movie co-starred Anthony Hopkins, Timothy Dalton, John Castle and Nigel Terry.
3. "A Christmas Story" (1983) - Melinda Dillon, Darren McGavin, and Peter Billingsley starred in this acclaimed adaptation of Jean Shepherd's 1966 book, "In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash". Bob Clark directed.
4. "A Christmas Carol" (1984) - George C. Scott starred as Ebenezer Scrooge in this television adaptation of Charles Dickens' 1843 novella. The television movie was directed by Clive Donner.
5. "Hercule Poirot's Christmas" (1994-1995) - David Suchet starred as Hercule Poirot in this television adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1938 novel in which the Belgian detective investigates the murder of a multi-millionaire during the Christmas holiday. Directed by Edward Bennett, Philip Jackson co-starred.
6. "Nero Wolfe - (1.07) "Christmas Party" (2001) - Maury Chaykin and Timothy Hutton starred in this adaptation of Rex Stout's 1957 novella, "The Christmas-Party Murder", about detective Nero Wolfe and his assistant Archie Goodwin's investigation of wealthy furniture designer's murder at a Christmas party. Holly Dale directed.
7. "4.50 From Paddington aka What Mrs. McGillicuddy Saw" (2004) - Geraldine McEwan starred in this television adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1957 novel about Miss Jane Marple's investigation of a murder briefly witnessed by an old friend aboard a train. Directed by Andy Wilson, the television movie co-starred John Hannah, Pam Ferris and David Warner.
8. "The Last Tycoon - (1.06) "A Brady-American Christmas" (2017) - This holiday episode was featured in the television adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1941 unfinished novel about 1930s Hollywood. Created by Billy Ray, the television series starred Matt Bomer, Lily Collins and Kelsey Grammer.
9. "The Man Who Invented Christmas" (2017) - Dan Stevens starred as Charles Dickens in this movie adaption of Les Standiford's 2008 book about the author's creation of his 1843 novella, "A Christmas Carol". The movie was directed by Bharat Nalluri.
10. "Victoria" - (2.09) "Comfort and Joy" - This holiday episode aired as finale for Season Two of the ITV series, "VICTORIA", which re-counted Queen Victoria's early years on the throne, between 1837 and 1851. Thinking...
The shape of Lover's Lake in Joyce's room. Will's drawings. Mike the heart, then Joyce and Hopper mourning.
They find Will's fake body in the Quarry, but the reporter says that in 1976 another person drowned there. I think in S5 we'll find out what this and the other references to that year mean.
Reefer Rick's house is near Lover's Lake, where Patrick dies and one of the gates opens.
This makes me think about Fringe. There are many parallels between the two shows, and between Will, El and Peter Bishop.
FRINGE SPOILERS
Walter Bishop, a brilliant scientist, loses his seven year old son Peter, who dies of a rare desease, so he decides to save the Peter of the parallel world he discovered. But when he opens a portal at a lake, he and the boy almost drown, and are saved by an Observer, a man from the future, September (the massacre at the Hawkins Lab happens on September 8, maybe a coincidence, maybe not)
In Fringe, after being erased from existence to save both universes from collapsing, Peter reappers in the same lake where he should've died when he was a kid, where the first portal opened.
It's Olivia's love that brings him back. She couldn't completely forget him.
Other interesting details: in ST there are many mentions of Peter, and parallels between El and Olivia, Subject 13. In Fringe, the name of the executive director at Massive Dynamic is Nina, the name of Walter's lab partner is William Bell, and the name of the child Observer that makes Walter remember Peter in the last season is Michael ("the boy is important"/getting to Mike was the key)
When he saves the two universes, Peter is connected to a Machine, and his consciousness is propelled forward into the body of his future self (->Will says that he's seen into the future, and Nina makes El see/relive the past. Plus The Philadelphia Experiment in TFS). In Fringe, S1, after an accident in Walter and William's lab, where they were conducting experiments on kids, an assistant says that they can't locate Brenner.
Speaking of Brenner and Peter being erased because Walter shouldn't have brought him to Prime Universe, this reminds me of the game in the lab, the two circles and Brenner saying that if you leave your circle (timeline, in ST, world in Fringe?) you lose (here)
Mentions of hearts in the show
Byler and Polivia, and other ST-Fringe parallels
The car crash theory: part I and part II
Possible hints at Will and El's death in the past

hi idk if you are doing headcanons still BUT!!!!! Could I persnaps hear any thoughts you have on the Peter twins because they are. Special 2 me. Thank you <3
i'll stop giving headcanons when the asks stop coming in lmao i love talking about the characters in this silly band
i think the twins very much grew up knowing the robots were their older siblings. the bots held them, played with them, chased them around the manor, accepted scoldings from iris when one of the twins eventually tripped and fell on the floor...
even if peter one had a tenuous relationship with the bots at times, two and three always loved them very much and saw them as whole people, not just their father's robots. at least until 1950, when three witnessed rabbit's core killing his twin brother. he developed a bit of a temper after that...

this post on pinterest has somehow made me start thinking about a comedy human au,, all the bots are siblings, ages are fucked, all the walters live in one big house,, the bots r all teenagers (imagine having six teenagers jc). their parents are iris and peter i. they have two adult siblings, ii and iii. mark, wanda and iv are their nephews and niece. peter i has an oc sibling that isn't around anymore but is V's parent, and VI is his son (the bot's cousin).
i dont think the original inspiration post fits in at all but its funny so im not removing it amen
anyways. ages i think would be like,,
II & III in their early thirties
V in his early thirties but younger than the rest of em.
rabbit and spine are 18 and twins
hmm my zer0 headcanon is that he was built first but powered on later so maybe hes like 19 but adopted/a half sibling that moved in slightly later? idk hes 17 or 19
next i think is hatchworth he is 15 and draws on a moustache every morning and tells everyone its real (jon is convinced)
jon is um uh 12 little boy 🫵
upgrade is 9
mark is 11
wanda is 9 (woah two 9 year old girls. yhey tell everyone they're twins)
realising that i cant keep the age difference the same as canon because iv would be -1. oops. hes a little baby
vi is also a little baby.
sorry i lied they're not all teenagers lawl. also realised zer0 couldn't be a half sibling because they have two way older siblings too oops
yeah this au makes no sense but i do think its funny. sitcom au. highschool au.
they all go by their canon robot names, its unclear whether they were named that or if they're nicknames or a mix of both. five is older than four because of a mistake on his birth certificate, he should have been four but they all just kinda went with it and named the next one four
i think rabbit would come out to her [younger] siblings at 13 and come out/start transitioning at 14, partially in reference to the year she transitioned in canon and partially because i was that old when i came out teehee. i think maybe she always knew and expressed it though, she just didnt know trans people existed and didn't have the terminology for it
do they have all-through schools in the us? like elementary all the way to high school? we do in the uk but idk about over there. if they do then that could be funny i think
#saymbles#au where#spg au#long post#spg#steam powered giraffe#cba to do individual tags for literally everyone#idk where the beciles fit in#maybe just an overplayed soccer mom type rivalry between thaddeus and peter i that translates to all thr kids also disliking each other#whats the name of the becile that got incinerated by rabbit in 1950#i think maybe he bullied rabbit really bad one time and two and three went full on big brother mode to like beat him up or something#nobody actually dies but there may have been one or four major hospital trips#i reckon guy and norman werent involved bc they're both wandas age so literal like 4 year olds at the time#maybe in the future when that lot are teenagers theres a romeo and juliet style romance with a love triangle and its all very dramatic#in the way only teen romance can be#also i think maybe the becile bots could be there#as a treat#similar ages to their counterparts#slightly younger though i think#spg teen au
