I do not have the qualifications, background, or experience to speculate about whether Peter Burling is on the autism spectrum or not, but what I can say is that as someone who is, I sympathize with a lot of his behavior.

And this is why I’m fine with Pete saying so little about Paloma in public and not putting pics on social media. He’s been in the public eye since he was 17 years old and he would have been a tween when people were in the news for making threats against Coutts and Butterworth’s kids. If Peter Burling wants to raise his daughter with some modicum of privacy, he is completely justified in that.

You are a very soft and caring person but you've had enough, haven't you? I'm not getting that in this era of your life you'll turn into a b*tch and go from one extreme to another. To be honest I wonder about this with Peter Burling a little bit sometimes. There are some things he says and does that feel familiar to me as someone who is autistic but I know there are also American/New Zealand cultural differences involved when it comes to emotional expression, going barefoot, etc.

I feel like at least some jocks are just autistic people with a special interest in sports.
