Olga Alexandrovna (Russian, 1882 - 1960) aka Olga Koulikovsky Romanova, Still life with flowers in a sunny window with a view to the garden, s.d. Private collection © photo Bruun Rasmussen
Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna of Russia was the youngest child of Emperor Alexander III of Russia. Her older brother was Tsar Nicholas II. She was raised at the Gatchina Palace outside Saint Petersburg. Olga's relationship with her mother, Empress Marie, the daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark, was strained and distant from childhood. In contrast, she and her father were close. He died when she was 12, and her brother Nicholas became emperor. In 1901, she married Duke Peter Alexandrovich of Oldenburg, who was privately believed by family and friends to be homosexual. Their marriage of 15 years remained unconsummated, and Peter at first refused Olga's request for a divorce. The couple led separate lives and their marriage was eventually annulled by the Emperor in October 1916. The following month Olga married cavalry officer Nikolai Kulikovsky, with whom she had fallen in love several years before.

Thank you for 2024
It has been a year. A mother fucker of a year. I have lost and I have gained. There was so much love this year. So much joy, so much writing, so much collecting, so much!
I'll start with the loss. My grandfather died this year, at almost 94. He had a full and fullfilled life and he rests beside my uncle, who died before I was born. I lost a pregnancy this year. It was very early on in the pregnancy and luckily my womb has fully recovered, but it left me empty in my heart for a good few weeks.
I am still at the same job, have lived across the street from my parents for over a full year now and my daughter is a year older.
I have gained a lot of beautiful stuff for my collection, have found revelations from Loki and Lugh and pracrised my arts.
I met Peter Gadiot for the first time and Arnas for the third time. I fell in love with Magnus Bruun and Micki Stollt. I became utterly obsessed with the Cole brothers.
I got a good number of tattoos done.
I am in an ENM relationship, which I am open about, with two men and one woman. @femjaskierinreallife flew all the way from the US to spent Xmas with us and I could not have wished for a better end to 2024.
Here are some pics to end it with a blast.

Exhibited: Charlottenborg 1885 No. 294.Peter Mønsted made several trips to southern Europe in the 1880s, including Italy. Many of his best works date back to the decades before the turn of the century, where his work on light and color effects resulted in such mood-saturated works as the Tivoli picture here. Mønsted became extremely popular in his day and was one of the most wealthy of the Danish painters. His popularity is still high at times, and abroad has also caught the eye of the Danish painter, who equally skillfully mastered Italian summer days and Nordic snow landscapes.
* * *
Born at the end of the ‘golden age’ of Danish painting, Peder Mønsted can be described as a product of that era. A landscape painter renowned for the clarity of light common to the painters of that age, his naturalistic ‘plein-air’ views made him the leading Danish landscapist of his age. He was also known for a number of portraits, including that of King George I of Greece.
Mønsted was born in Balle Mölle, near Grenna in eastern Denmark. He studied at the Prince Ferdinand’s Drawing School, Aarhus where he studied under Andries Fritz (1828-1906), a landscape and portrait painter, before moving to Copenhagen. Here he studied at the Royal Academy of Art between 1875 and 1878, and was taught figure painting by Julius Exner (1825-1910). Here too he would have come across the work of artists such as Christen Kobke (1810-1848), an outstanding colourist and Pieter Christian Skorgaard (1817-1875), a romantic nationalist painter, a knowledge of whose work is seen in the Danish landscapes and beech forests of Mønsted’s. As early as 1874, at the age of 15, he took part in the December Exhibition in Copenhagen. In 1878 Mønsted left the Academy to study under the artist Peder Severin Kröyer (1851-1910).
Mønsted travelled extensively throughout his long career, being a frequent visitor to Switzerland, Italy and North Africa. In 1883 Mønsted travelled to Paris where he worked with W. A. Bouguereau (1825-1905) for four months. As early as 1884, he visited North Africa returning later in the decade. The early years of the 20th century saw Mønsted returning to Switzerland, the south of France and Italy, the latter being the source of inspiration for many Scandinavian artists of the 19th century. The war years curtailed Mønsted’s travel to Norway and Sweden, however the 1920’s and 1930’s saw him return to the Mediterranean. From 1879 to 1941 he exhibited regularly at the annual Charlottenborg Exhibition. Throughout his long career, Mønsted continued to paint the Danish landscape and coastline. His is a romantic, poetic view of nature; he was an artist who depicted the grandeur and monumental aspect of the landscape, with a remarkable eye for detail and colour.
His works can be found in museums in: Aalborg and Bantzen.

Adam Lundgren, Björn Gustafsson, Sandra Ilar in Clark – Netflix Swedish series with Bill Skarsgård
Bill Skarsgård in the lead role. Adam Lundgren, Björn Gustafsson, Sandra Ilar and Wilhelm Blomgren. These are the actors who appear in "Clark", Netflix's new Swedish original series directed by Jonas Åkerlund.
It was in May that Netflix announced that it had ordered "Clark", a new Swedish original series of six episodes about Clark Olofsson. Jonas Åkerlund directs, while Bill Skarsgård plays the lead role. The series is produced by Scandinavian Content Group.
"Clark" is Swedish-language and is based on "Clark Olofsson's truths and lies from his autobiography" and follows Olofsson from his youth until today.
Now Netflix has confirmed that Adam Lundgren, Björn Gustafsson, Sandra Ilar and Wilhelm Blomgren will star in "Clark". The cast also includes Malin Levanon, Peter Viitanen, Hanna Björn, Isabelle Grill, Robin Nazari and Alicia Agneson. In addition: Kolbjörn Skarsgård will play Clark Olofsson as a six-year-old.
Other roles are by Linus Wahlgren, Alexander Karim, Christoffer Nordenrot, Daniel Hallberg, Rachel Mohlin, Henrik Lundström, Arja Saijonmaa, Hans Erik Dyvik Husby, Agnes Lindström, Babben Larsson, Peter Järn, Henrik Hjelt, Peter Apelgren, Staffan Kihlbom Thor, Rikard Ulvshammar, Freja Beha Erichsen, Amalie Bruun and Wilson Gonzalez.
In a statement, Jonas Åkerlund said:
"As a director, I'm always looking for strong characters, and Clark's life and story is filled with absorbing and colorful characters. It was important to find the right actor to fill these roles and I'm very happy to have this amazing cast, even for the smallest roles."
Jonas Åkerlund continues:
"The world that revolves around Clark, the people who were affected by him, who shaped him, who put him in prison, who loved him, each has his own strong personality and unique experience. I'm so glad we've brought these characters to life with an incredible cast. Without these amazing actors, we would never have been able to tell the story of how a black hole that Clark managed to attract and devour colorful individuals. They really complete the story of Stockholm Syndrome."
Fredrik Agetoft and Peter Arrhenius have written the screenplay for "Clark", while Jonas Åkerlund both writes and directs the series, which is based on the autobiography "Vafan var det hände". Börje Hansson and Patrick Sobieski are the show's producers, while Skarsgård, Åkerlund and Hans Engholm are executive producers. Mikael Åkerfeldt is responsible for the music.
In the Netflix press release, the story reads: "The notorious gangster started his criminal career in the 1960s and has become one of the most controversial personalities in modern Swedish history. Clark has spent more than half of his life behind bars, convicted of numerous crimes such as drug trafficking, attempted murder, assault, theft and dozens of bank robberies."
Furthermore: "He has also caused trauma, grief, disappointment and left traces of general devastation. In the 1970s, Clark gave rise to the concept of "Stockholm Syndrome" during a failed bank robbery in Stockholm and he has since retained his position as the celebrity criminal who tricked the Swedish people into allowing themselves to be charmed by him. Just as he wished."
There is no premiere date for "Clark" on Netflix yet.

 Django Bates’ Belovèd
The Study of Touch
ECM, 2017
Django Bates - piano,
Petter Eldh - double bass,
Peter Bruun - drums
With boundless humor and flexible grace, pianist Django Bates offers us The Study of Touch the perfect piano trio music for the significant other who absolutely hates piano trio music. This is the first I have heard of Django Bates though he has been making shrewd music since 1979. He has played with a host of names, including former Yes and King Crimson drummer Bill Bruford; fellow free thinking percussionist George Russell, and musical chaos master and ECM label mate Tim Berne. He has been rousing the British and European jazz venues since the 1990s. Makes you wonder how American-centric one can get. Anyway, it is with a sense of wonder that you find yourself listening to the rollicking, shape shifting, "Giorgiantics" as it moves seamlessly into old school mode on "Little Petherick" wherein Bates and his fellow space benders, bassist Petter Eldh and drummer Peter Bruun share inspiration with the leader, and the leader follows where they flow. With a pulling swing, "Senza Bitterness" is there one moment and gone the next, leaving you wondering how they did all that in under four minutes. The lengthy "The Study of Touch" is a fluidly lush affair with the Muse, as is the nearly comic "Slippage Street" and the irrepressible stylings and romance of "Peonies As Promised." As they have done in the past with Beloved Bird the trio does immeasurable justice to Charlie Parker, and the pinnacle of that is right here on Bird's signature "Passport," two minutes and forty seconds of pure play. I cannot stop listening to this one. Neither can my significant other.
