This mountain plateau was once nothing but a small seasonal hunting town. Over the last 50 years however, developers took notice of the potential of this location and now, it is a bustling upcoming town. Families and sims have moved in droves to start business opportunities or to take advantage of those who are. Some however, are just enjoying the quiet scenic views and good people.

Simply explaining and showing the Community lots in each of my districts. Business, Entertainment & Residential. I will be showing the Families in Detail in Pt. 2

Speedway Motors | Ahan and Navya Bhatt's first dip into the world of business owning, buying an old rundown shed and turning it into a Car Dealership! It only has cheaper locomotives but they still run fine!… most of the time.

'The Look' Clothing Superstore | The most popular department store for clothing in Mt. Cavaro! So popular it's run all of the small indie boutiques and rival brands out of town. I guess having great prices and a wide selection does that!

Reel N' Sons Fish Market | For the past 20 years the Reel family have been catching and selling their fresh fish here every Sunday.

Cavaro Natural Arrangements | A small shutdown florist that has been recently revamped by Velma Aster, her once buried love for plants and flowers reignited.

Bub N' Co Children's Superstore | The absolute hub for all essential baby, toddler and children's items. Everything you could need is right here!

Community Lots that aren't a business inside the business district:

Cavaro Community Centre | The newly renovated community centre is now open! The once old and dingy town library is stocked with new books, a new computer lab has been opened and with government funding, the employment office has been revamped. All with a new cafeteria on the second floor!

Fit & Fast | Fit & Fast is the best spot to get your workout on! There's a wide variety of machines and amenities.

Cavaro Garden & Parklands | This quaint little park has a community garden run by the local gardening association, if you ever want to grab some delicious fresh veggies and fruit it's all completely free! Too the side theres also a quaint wedding area, the perfect setting to say 'I do'.

The Entertainment District

Mt. Cavaro Fishing Club | The Mt. Cavaro Fishing Club has been around since this place was simply a small hunting town. There's also a cozy little campsite if you want to spend the night outdoors! Or a cabin if you do not.

'The Tip' | Simply the garbage tip for all of Cavaro. No trespassing!.. Unless you're good at tresspassing. (Who knows, there might be some good stuff to scavenge).

Cavaro Memorial Cemetary | A place to remember the Sims of the past. You may not want to visit after dark, there have been rumors of people seeing the sims who should've been long gone. I downloaded this lot from:

How did everyone meet their respective giants/tinies in your stardew au?

Did Serena/Jacob just happen to head in the mines/forest on a very bad luck day and suffered the conquences or is it kinda an abridged version of their main stories, but they are just in less shitty/horrible circumstances than their mainline counterparts?

I'm going to assume that everyone else has a pretty simular backstory to their mainline counterparts since there probably isn't too much that had to be changed for their stories to work in this au.

Ie. Jasper, Milo, and etc.

Little bit of both, it's sort of implied that this town is a hub of activity, which led to ABC and Athena keeping watch for the giant monsters and aliens respectively.

Serena would have been stalked/kidnapped while walking home at night and upon surviving, be recruited to work at the ABC Superstore (which is essentially Joja/Best Buy). If you have good friendship with her, she'll gift you various surveillance gear that you can use for Felix's mission to gather different types of "strange evidence". You can find redacted files that explain chunks of her story, and one day per season she'll be extremely spacey and may reveal extra details if you talk to her

No one knows what happened to Jacob, just that he went missing in the woods for a couple days and now refuses to go anywhere near them, except to look for Reagan whenever she goes in. He pretends it doesn't bother him but still refuses to talk about it and insists you shouldn't go messing around in there. You can find clues about a meteor shower the night he went missing and his sketchbook in the woods, so he was probably out there doing nature studies for art before he got yoinked.

You can overhear conversations between Jacob and Reagan about him warning Reagan that the woods are too dangerous, while she insists that the kitties are nice and one of them wants Jacob to come back and play again. If you find Reagan's toys in the woods and return them, you'll gain her friendship, and thus win Ylva's favor. Jacob tends to babysit her on weekends and festival days, so they've probably had plenty of previous playdates in the woods, hence why Reagan would go and find the kitties on her own adventure

Kumiko is an exchange student for college, Taiyo simply followed her. Which sucks, because the reason she went to an abroad college was to be halfway across the globe from him.

Jasper's story is pretty cut and dry from his original fic. You can find the journal notes in the cliff tunnels from C.A.R and himself. The lighthouse island is closed during winter though, so he'll be on the mainland and Deus will be hibernating.

Dean and Jamie already know each other as their stories have taken place in their hometowns previously. Dean is allegedly here on "business" and Jamie followed for no particular reason at all and certainly not to make sure news about Negasonic doing something nefariously illegal doesn't pop up for Nano to stop.

Felix will only meet Athena after enough evidence has been collected for him to launch an investigation in the desert region, where he'll finally catch her and start a similar plotline to their canon story.

Ben has already accidentally adopted Milo at this point, but it's still a vary fresh relationship, so he may ask things about parenting and pet ownership but get very uncomfortable if you press for details. You're also not allowed in his home unless you have a high enough friendship and proof of borrower activity. After he trusts you, you can actually go to his house and meet Milo, which will then boost your status with local borrowers and increase the chances they'll leave you with a gift every so often.

Don't ask Mayor Danny about anything, she doesn't know what the fuck is going on, but she'd got a rly comfy chair to sit in at town hall (:

Most days, as well as two walks with Spike, Ridley gets a walk on his own. He's younger and more active, and it's nice to let him choose where to go on his solo walk, keeps his brain active.

Some days he wants to go to the woods. Some days the canal. Some days the cemetary. Some days the library grounds. Quite often it's one of the various pubs he likes, or the coffee shop near the park, or the cheese shop. Sometimes it's the train station to see if one of the people he likes might be visiting. Sometimes it's Wilko, which is now dog friendly, and he likes to browse the dog treat aisle. And sometimes, once or twice a month, like today, it's the Pets At Home superstore that's about a mile up the road.

When he wants to go to a specific place there's no stopping him, he's very determined. And when he goes to Pets At Home he knows he is allowed to choose one thing, but he does like to browse.

So he usually does all the doggy aisles at least twice, sniffing all the big bags of dog food and all the treats and toys. Today he also did the cat food aisle, just to be sure. And then he picked his One Thing...

While You're Waiting...

An intermediary post while I’m reading the next book... A plug for my favourite true crime podcast - True Crime and Cocktails. 

Produced by Art19, this podcast is hosted by Lauren Ash, most well known for her role as Dina in NBC’s hit show Superstore and her cousin/best friend Christy Oxborrow. 

What started out of a guest appearance on Lauren’s old podcast, became a lockdown passion project for the pair. Starting off with a running time around an hour and a half, the episodes got to the point much quicker than they do these days. Mainly, Christy researched the cases of Netflix's first season of the “new” Unsolved Mysteries. 

Now on their 132nd episode, the running time passes the two hour mark with at least one episode sitting at three hours. With enthusiasm and humour that’s made me snort in laughter a time or two, they discuss their lives and current or twenty year old pop culture to warm up their audience for half hour to forty-five minutes of the episode.

In my personal opinion, Christy Oxborrow might be the best researcher in audio media at the moment. I understand that on television shows or fancy network podcasts, like Dateline NBC or Crime Beat, their researchers must be more careful with what they say or where they look for details. Nobody wants to get sued. Christy however, will do an occasional social media search or a search of a town’s archives. It adds much more to the episodes, and gives credence to the moments when the pair essentially calls some of the suspects ‘idiots’ (in their own educated opinions).

Christy and Lauren are just as entertaining, even more revealing and connected to their invested listeners on their Patreon. True Crime and Cocktails is the first patreon I’ve ever subscribed to and I think it’s a worthy choice. They provide three tiers of content, all at different and reasonable prices. 

Many cases covered on the podcast are familiar, like Nicole Brown, Heaven’s Gate, or Whitey Bulger. A majority of the cases are a medium level familiarity for anyone who’s dabbled in true crime along with cases that are next to unknown. These tend to be Christy’s and Lauren’s specialty. A particular series I find unique is titled ‘Missing’. Christy presents Lauren and the audience with a range of cases with little information available. As there’s Unsolved Mysteries. 

Sticking to their roots, Lauren and Christy have covered the two newest seasons of Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries. 

At the end of an episode, Lauren (and when they occasionally reverse positions, Christy) goes over the diligent notes she’s taken, often with the loving interruption of one or multiple pets. The pair spend half an hour discussing the case and theories they’ve come up with for the unsolved episodes. Lauren often gives her “psychologist’s hat” opinion. As she reminds the listeners, she does not have a degree, only a history of true crime fascination.

In conclusion, True Crime and Cocktails is a podcast anyone can listen to if they’re interested in getting more true crime into their brains. In my opinion, you won’t be able to listen to any other true crime podcast without feeling like you’d rather hear it from your Canadian, quirky friends. The oldest episodes may be a little rougher to get into especially if those are the ones you chose to start with, but soon enough, the two get their stride and have grown a podcast that I anxiously wait for every Tuesday morning.
