Last time I'm gonna get into this...

Within the past 24 hours, there have been FIVE attacks on Weibo with paid hashtags against Jeon Jungkook.

JK has been accused of cheating on a blonde girlfriend, leaving a string of broken hearts, getting a girl pregnant, inappropriate behavior at what looks like a club or karaoke bar, and sexually harassing female staff. These accusations are being systematically criticized and debunked when errors are pointed out.

Clearly, there is a smear campaign coinciding with the release of 3D.

Now look, I cannot promise you that all the "evidence" is manufactured. But it's definitely being weaponized. So I'd ask you to just keep an open mind, use your critical thinking skills, and be patient, because this isn't the first time rumors like this have exploded and it won't be the last. Sometimes it takes a while for the truth to come to light.

You'll never catch me in these streets acting like a cult member. I'm not going to sit here and draw up schematics and comparison photos in some desperate attempt to convince the timeline of anything. Nor am I going to say someone rented a similar apartment, staged it with mood lamps and a doberman, and then had an actor wear a mask to set up JK (more likely, it's a random couple that got filmed without their knowledge). I won't delve into conspiracy theories about companies or competitors or comebacks or cosplayers or any of that.

If later it turns out that Jungkook has a partner other than Jimin, I really hope all the members of this community join me in quietly accepting that and calmly wishing him and Jimin well. so, I feel bad this will be long (mod you can put it under a cut if needed?), but I'm also neurotic as fuck so whatever. But on the topic of l1l d3v1l, some of their work came across my feed and, for lack of a better term, triggered me hard. Not because of their content/style/whatever at all! But because my god please please please everyone doing 3D printing, cure and wash your prints properly!!!!!!!!! Another Anon recently made a very very good list of recommendations for them for posting. I am going to toss in my hat for some of the finishing processes. They have a very good base for sculpting, they know how to use their program and their style will evolve naturally over time. They're even using references. They're figuring out joints. Faceups also evolve with practice. Everyone starts somewhere, it's all learning, etc, and no I cannot explain why dust and hair on sticky prints made me react this way. Psychoanalyze me in the comments while I offer some tips on curing/finishing.

Put your UV hood on while it's printing, yes even when you're getting in progress pics unless it's like night or whatever. room temp and humidity while I've left the hood off has absolutely messed with my prints, I used to live in Albany in NYS and I think they're in the same state.

Wash your print properly. Take it off the base, rinse it in whatever the fuck it needs to be washed in (alcohol, water, etc), cut the supports (I do sometimes leave some supports in until after curing. YMMV moment), and then wash it again. Get a soft toothbrush. Scrub. SCRUB. Dry it properly with a paper towel, not air dry. If water washed resin still feels a little tacky, you can give it a wipe with some rubbing alcohol too. Try to only mix water washable with water washable and the same for alcohol. Same with brands, but YMMV with that - washing is really important. If you're unsure because it's a thicker piece let it cure for a bit and then check, wipe with a lower alcohol, dry it, cure again.

AND AGAIN. I cannot stress enough how important that after washing, you cure it properly. You don't need the fancy washing/curing stations and what not if you don't have them. Get a $20 amazon nail UV lamp and set it over your prints. Prop it up a little higher if your print is a bit big. Move it around the print or rotate the print every 60s (or however long your longest setting is on it). Sun curing is fine but sometimes it's not strong enough and you'll need to leave prints in the sun for days before they're cured properly. (same with resin eyes, I see the eyes they made are also sticky/cloudy. That's a not curing long enough issue. Cure it. Cure it again longer. let rest. Poke. Sticky? Cure again. sand if needed, gloss with a thin layer of more resin with a flat brush, cure.) After hitting it with a lamp for a while then leave it in the sun if you want for a day or so.

After all that, aside from print mistakes or support bumps, it should be smooth, maybe a bit soft feeling (not when you press on it though, bad cure), sometimes my partner even says "chalky" texture. Stuff shouldn't stick to it so easily!!! If it still is, revisit 1-3!!!!!

You're offering garage kits, but no one wants a half cured sticky mess they'll have to deal with re-curing and washing before they even get to sand. We can SEE the dust and hair and fiber and fingerprints on the prints in your photos. Even if they're clean seeming in person, the photos don't instill confidence at all in the (semi) finished product of your kits or in the ability to get it casted (casters will reject things if they aren't finished properly to a certain point). Faceups will be infinitely easier to do on a smooth non tacky surface (it seems they're mainly using watercolor pencils to do the eyes from the texture, drag and fall off. Sharpen them, don't soak them in water first unless you know how to control the mush and thick layer that will follow. Doing a dry draft helps a lot), the sealer will stick better if you're sealing before hand. Some people don't seal their 3D prints before painting and that's between them and the 3D printing gods. Or if all of this irrelevant and your stuff is actually cured, dried, and not tacky, dust your workspace, put away any wigs and whatnot, and get rubber gloves.

Week 4 - Shape a POV

This week I didn't do much traditional research, but I did do something. I made a thing!!!! So my research this week is overall different ways to create characters!

A lot of people last week gave me great ideas on how I can explore my topic, so I decided to create something silly and fun: a movie poster with different versions of myself.

I call it...

THE MULTIVERSE OF DANINESS!!!

And here it is.

The goal wasn't for it to look very polished or anything, but I wanted a cool way to show off the different versions of myself.

This super real and cool movie poster was created on Illustrator, with a collection of actual drawings from my friends, 3D avatars of myself, and also several Picrew prompts. Picrew is an online character maker and creator.

For the 3D avatars, I explored a bit of HeroForge as I was recomended last week, found my MetaHuman creation from last semester, and it also gave me an excuse to open up my Sims 4 game (in which I exist as a vampire).

In the process of doing that, it made me think about when we are giving the option to create a character, do we make it as close as possible to our present self, or our desired self.

For me personally, it's a little mix of the both, I try to make myself with my traits, but also add somethings that I might desire.

Because maybe in another world I am just a cool vampire.

This leads to my POV statements:

Question 1: How might we learn to appreciate the present more by reflecting on our past decisions, whether good or bad?

This is a big question which even I don't have a specific answer, aside that through this process we can reflect on our actions that have made us the person we are right now, which also leads to my NEXT statement.

Question 2: What might be causing a feeling of loss of a person we never were to begin with?

I was inspired by the previous lamp story I mentioned last week, and also my own personal dreams where I've had experiences and then I wake up and feel a sense of loss.

In connection to my topic of the two Danis (current me and musician Dani), it's not that I never was the musician version of myself, but I still do feel a small loss just because playing music went from being the biggest thing in my life to something I rarely do. So it makes sense that this feeling comes out of something that seems unfulfilled, and back to the term of counterfactual thinking which I explained earlier in this process.

ALSO!!!!! because I have to note this. Yesterday walking to class with my friends we spotted a person who looked exactly like me from behind and it freaked us out. I won't include the photo but it was such a strange experience. Maybe I'll show it in class.

Do you have a shrine to Los Illuminados? I only have a portrait of Lord Saddler taped to my wall, I must upgrade.

「𝔖」 Not so much of a "shrine" per say because I do not worship fictional characters, but I have all of my RE4 memorabilia in one place, including my monk cosplay which is safe inside the drawer. I've been starting this collection since 2013. I absolutely could expand but I haven't been Ebay scrounging as of late. Some of these were gifts from mutuals / friends of mine, such as @king-crane's HUNK TUBBZ duck. I also have a wall of fan art ( not pictured ) that @ricardo-irving generously mailed to me since we've been buddies for so long. & a mousepad of Lord Saddler on it which I use in my office ( also not pictured ).

Besides the lamp & plastic skulls I have laying around in office, which aren't collectibles, I'll list everything else if you can't see it ; I have 2 Agatsuma Mini 3" Collectible's of Lord Saddler & Chief Bitores, with the original boxes. I had to throw the candy away that came with it, since it'd had gone bad. I have 3 exclusive NECA action figurines of the zealots, weapons included, but I stupidly threw the boxes away. I also purchased a 3D-printed key set from 3dways who has an account on Twitter. Meta Quest Japan threw a contest a few years ago & the prize was winning a life-sized pillow of Ramon Salazar, I was so inspired so I decided to get one of Lord Saddler himself ( not life-sized unfortunately ). I bought the 2007 PC release of RE4 for modding purposes, which is considered more of a rare find. I think it came with a game magazine as well? The last items I have are from the RE4R PS5's Collector's Edition : Leon Kennedy's statue, concept art book, map of Valdelobos, steel disk cover & downloadable soundtrack.

MY PRIZED JEWEL of the collection is a signed, in-person autograph from Michael Gough himself, who I met in 2018. I plan on getting one from Chris Jane if possible so I have the English actors from original & remake.

Photographing!!

After finishing my 3d models of character and set design . i was able to test photographing my outcome and figuring out how i can communicate ‘day in the life in our spaces’ to my audience. Here i tested lighting from different angles , composition of my character and movement of arms and face. I think all of these photography outcomes are so successful especially the photos on the right of her getting up out of bed . the lighting has worked well so bring out colours and make the character stand out. I'm so pleased with how well the structure of her works and how i can move her arms in different positions , it shows so much more personality than if she couldnt move. In the top middle photographs i was exploring how she would look thinking and daydreaming and i think her facial expressions really compliment how it communicates. I am also so pleased on how well using the direct light from the lamp has gone, i think that it has successfully made the textures of my character stand come out so you can still tell she is felted. I was worried at the time that the photographs won't enable this but it worked so well i am pleased. I wanted to explore shadows as i felt that if the room was too bright it would look too unrealistic and i think it represents a cosy home more with more tinted light. I realised after taking photos i need to tie all of these together and so i thought of putting these images into a small zine.
