Portal To Perim Beyon: Kiru City Beyond
After getting into Chaotic again, and reading the Lore for Cardfight Vanguard Overdress, it got me into thinking about what Perim might be like in the future. So, I decided to start posting bios and the like on my ideas in the form of Portal to Perim style bios. If this gets some attention, I’ll post more
In the 100 years since the reign of Maxxor, the Overworld capital has undergone massive changes in both size and population. The Overworlders were always known as trying to keep close relationships with other tribes, but after the war with the M'arrillians, many Overworlders formed long lasting friendships with creatures from other tribes and this led to many outsiders coming to Kiru City for battle training, diplomatic missions, educations and even just to live lives of their own. The integration of other cultures grew more and more until, forty years ago, the then queen of the Overworld decreed to allow any creature of any tribe the ability to come to Kiru City and claim Overworld citizenship. This led to Kiru city becoming a massive hub for immigrants of other tribes. Mipedians, Danians, M’arrillians, and even Underworlders all live within the Overworld capital. The influx of new citizens from around Perim has helped grow Kiru’s prosperity, but some high ranking Overworlders decry the idea of allowing outsiders into their tribe and see the cities non-Overworlder population as a stain on Kiru’s history.
And it’s not just the city's people that have changed over the years. The physical layout of the capitol has also drastically shifted. Instead of just the one wall that was used to protect the city, Kiru has now been split into three separated sections, each one surrounded by its own mugically reinforced stone wall. The first section of the city acts as the so-called “peoples area”. This is where the majority of Kiru city's population lives. This area is even more split into several sections to reflect the city's diversity, with there being different districts primarily populated by Underworlders, Mipedian’s and Danians. Though creatures from other tribes can live outside those areas, these neighborhoods act as places where they  can share and indulge in their culture and the current leader of the Overworld sees them as helping make Kiru into a microcosm of all Perim. This section of the city also contains the famous Kitu City marketplace, where citizens can find food, books, clothing, mugic, and battlegear from all over Perim.
Within the city’s second wall is what’s considered to be “the learning quadrant” and it contains numerous areas of education and knowledge. From the Overworld library and it’s vast collection of books from everywhere, to the Overworld mugic hall, where muges come to study and experiment with their art, to the world famous Intress Academy of Elemental Studies. The academy is one of the jewels of the Overworld capital, boasting highly experienced teachers and trainers from all over Perim. Similarly, the student body is also extremely diverse with Students from all tribes being allowed to attend. Students not only study how to perform elemental attacks, but also how to construct elemental battle gear, create elemental mugic and study locations that have elemental attunement. Attendance there can truly make one into a master of the elements.
The final part of Kiru City is in the dead center. Here is where most of Kiru's government officials, soldiers, muges, and nobles live. This section houses the palace of the overworld ruler, the barracks, the Overworld arsenal and several other important strategic facilities. The walls of this area of the city are extra thick and heavily guarded at all times, with only recognized personnel being allowed to enter. But don’t think that this means that the inhabitants are indifferent to the rest of the city. In times of war or crisis, the gates to the center of the city are opened so that all the people from the outer two areas can evacuate there, to be protected by nearly indestructible walls and the Overworld's best soldiers. Even after all these years, the Overworlders still make sure to care for all their people.

What is transcending perim again?
It was my first ever fan fiction, as well as an AU I thought up during the show’s original run when I was a kid. I ended up finally trying to write it in late high-school. Since I’m older and I can hopefully write better, I wanted to take a crack at seeing if I can do something with it again.
The original premise is that Tom got stuck in Perim. He ends up as a Creature, and is trying to survive when he ends up being taken in. From there it was supposed to be a culture clash of learning a new way of life while utilizing his previous knowledge from being a Player, as well as not knowing how or if he should relay his past to people since even he doesn’t know how he ended up this way.
It was supposed to be revealed that the reason Chaotic was able to function was that they used the Cothica to power it. Players all had bits of it attached to themselves, but if you broke the parameters or there was glitch in the program, Perim would yank it back. You can’t steal a god from a world and not expect consequences. Tom just accidentally got pulled into Perim not because he’s important, but because there was an error in the code that gave an opportunity for something older than time to recognize it and take hold of a small opening. He’s a casualty in this precarious tug of war between two worlds that most don’t know is happening- and not even the first! This happened to all the CodeMasters, and the reason the Players can go back and forth is because they’re trying to figure out a way so that they can leave themselves. Players are beta testers for their own escape, Chaotic is just something they invented to have fun while being trapped.
There were a lot of bits of lore, cultures, and headcanon stuff I tried introducing, but looking back, I don’t think I did it well. I lost interest in writing the story because I accidentally wrote myself into a corner, and ended up not finding a satisfactory way out. There’s also a ton of things that didn’t quite make sense, so I want to better execute it. Lots of ideas need reshaping or complete overhaul.
A lot of those pieces I found fun were later spun into the AUs I have on here. It’s also where this blog gets its name.
I just want to have fun.

That's my main, but my Chaotic blog is foundfamilygetmeeverytime if you ever want to chat.
I think that most songs in Perim are either instrumental or chanting based. So creatures are really impressed when they hear humans singing with such broad range. Peyton is always happy to oblige any curious creature who hears about their unique way of singing.
My headcanon is based on how animals, which creatures are largely based on, howl or chirp but physically can't sing.

Chaotic Headcanons
1. There’s a team of photographers that go around Perim taking pictures of creatures from a distance or artist with sketch books that follows creatures and they’re stealthy as a ninja. They since their pictures to the card artist back on earth.Than, they used the pictures as reference to created cards. This explains  how the card artists get the likeness of the creatures on the cards.
The rarity on the cards is based on how was to got a sketch or picture of a creature.
2. There’s a technician that makes sure that the code and the robots work properly. Codemasters report any errors or malfunctions to the technical and they can’t do anything until the technician gives the thumbs up. The technician has a workshop under chaotic.
3. The spiritlanders were descendants of creatures from all the other tribes that formed the tribe because they all either infinity loss fate in their tribe for peace with the others, were banish for not following their tribe ideals or felt to form their own tribe to be far from the wars.

So is everyone aware of the Portal to Perim archive? It’s all copied over from the official card game’s website before it was shut down, to my knowledge. I have a foggy memory of the official site, and it seems to be fairly reliable. You can read extra goodies about the lore of each card, and some of it overlaps with the show. In particular, I’m interested in how it skirts around the mention of humans
Tumblr media
We all know what Kaz did to the first Viledriver. The description doesn’t lie; the Viledriver did have mechanical problems–the cannon didn’t work– and it was destroyed in an accident in his lab – *glares at Kaz*. But it sounds like the machine simply broke down. So what, I thought, is this a parallel version of the game’s lore where humans aren’t in Perim?
Tumblr media
And here it is again, the first Phobia mask was destroyed in a... mysterious accident.
Tumblr media
That’s a lot more obvious. Sounds like a cover-up, even.
I’m a little leery of taking the Portal’s word as absolute, even if it is official. We’re all familiar with the fluctuating creature designs, not to mention the wiki. I mean, look at this drastically different account of how the Telebracers got made
Tumblr media
But wait!
Tumblr media
Therefore it is very hard to get a scan of this particular Battlegear. So there’s talk of scanning, which means humans! Even though the Portal makes a point of not mentioning humans directly, they are obviously causing significant disruptions in Perim.
So what? You could say the Portal is old and incompatible, but I don’t want to give up on it. Of course Khybon wouldn’t tell Chaor he made a deal with H’earring to let two Chaotic Players into the forge who then destroyed his brand new gear. Of course mechanical problems would be the story Ulmar and Chaor decided to tell the public. It’s embarrassing to have others know you let humans get into your lab to screw up your work. They’re so stupid and loud, how bad is your security? How incompetent are you? You don’t want it to be common knowledge how much humans can compromise your most sensitive projects and get away with it. It’s stressful enough keeping the upper hand on a three-front war, but now you’ve got these sneaky little rats appearing in your lab at literally any time. So of course you keep these little embarrassments under wraps. No-one needs to know. Don’t want the word getting out that the humans’ permeating influence is getting to your proud nation. I’m sure the other tribes hear reports about mysterious mishaps and have their suspicions, but they’re busy fudging the proper explanations for their malfunctioning prototypes. Hell, this is probably where the belief that humans are always spying for other tribes comes from. Nobody screws up that bad and that frequently on purpose. (badly underestimating humans’ ability to just be The Worst)
And yeah, totally guys, the Underworld didn’t need to steal their prize Battlegear from the Overworlders, the real story is Ulmar made it and the other tribes stole it you guys. At least, that’s the propaganda they fed to the general public.

Okay, this will be new territory for the blog. I don’t know who exactly follows it these days, but this might be a leap from the content you’re used to seeing.
I imagine gay couples or intimacy, among Perim’s military anyway, aren’t uncommon. I mean really, it’s a sausage fest... Yeah, it’s that kind of new territory. Throwing in a keep reading bar for those not interested.
There are a few gay pairings I’ve thought of. The one I like best is that Tangath and Vidav were in a romantic relationship during Tangath’s training to generalhood. Never happened in the show but Tangath’s In Training card has Vidav in the background. And well, I imagined them as a couple. Their personalities would compliment each other. Unfortunately, this relationship was short lived. You know why. I also headcanon Tangath had something going on with Attacat prior him and Vidav hooking up, albeit without the romance.
Like I said, I have others. But I’ll talk about them later, if ever. This is all an experiment. I like, never write romance... I’m so gonna get roasted for this.

At this point me being a Chaotic fan has just boiled down to:
has pages of headcanons that don’t have any canon backing
develops unhealthy obssession with side creatures that have no personality
rants for half an hour about a concept that was mentioned twice
complains about Perithon
writes entire doc with an explanation of Perim prepared to dump on anyone that shows even the tiniest interest in the lore
“It’s a little cheesy but I swear it has a really good story”
makes Hearring and Bodal memes
simps for Intress
annoys people by constantly bringing it up
overanalyzes the politics of each tribe
continues complaining about Perithon

Maxxor and Chaor (separate) with a human female s/o? Headcanons or scenario whichever is easier for you.
CHAOTIC!!!!!! Seriously if anyone knows anyone out there writing for this show, hook me up with some links.
I wasn’t sure if you meant this in a “how they met” kind of way, or how they would be with them, so I did change up the style of writing to explain how they did meet. Let me know what you think!
Human fem!S/o ( Chaotic )
It was usually children wielding strange devices that visited Perim. Every being in the six tribes knew of the otherworldly visitors meddling or assisting sides on a whim, asking for only a still image in return. They were odd but ultimately harmless.
There were a few odd rumors though. Why would only children ever visit, if not for the lack of adults? Some individuals claimed to have seen full grown humans yet were dismissed for seeking cryptic creatures that did not exist.
It caused quite a stir when one finally was spotted in the middle of the city of all places.
Chaor
How in the world the two had become friends was entirely up for debate. If asked, (Name) would tell the story of how she had been minding her own business chasing after some brat players attempting to destroy part of the tunnel system when she had collided with him. And, unlike most creatures in Perim, Chaor had been smart enough to steal away her scanner to get her to help him on a short term “project.” She had (begrudgingly), and he surprisingly upheld his end of the bargain, though it hadn’t stopped him from finding some reason to request her presence on one thing or another.
If asked, Chaor would crush the fool dumb enough to imply that he has friends (even though it is true).
Neither is entirely sure when or how they started to form any friendship though. (Name) found herself returning to the Underworld more and more, often running into none other than Chaor, while the latter noticed that he seemed more alert about when the human arrived in his domain. It helped that unlike many creatures in Perim he held no odd superstitions about humans. Humans are dangerous, sneaky and capable of being warriors when they felt like it. She was no different. And he treated her as such.
As their friendship gets to grow closer, they do spend time together - both in and outside of combat situations. Yea, I can see Chaor dragging his human into a few missions - humans are resourceful, he’d be an idiot to not recognize that. Besides, any creature that came too close to her met a painful fate at his hands. “She is not yours to take.” For she is mine is the half he always thinks, never says. Yet it’s the time spent in down hours that make her start to feel something. For a king who is deadset on being the most intense warrior out there, he rules the kingdom fairly well. He understands the spirit of his people and truly seeks better conditions for them - Kiru City and the Overworld would give them access to resources they badly needed. Scrape away at the outer, very real face of a warrior, and there is a leader. One wiser than people think.
Chaor throws her in for a loop though. It’s sudden, and strange. They’re at one of the rare Underworld feasts - their enemies are beaten and the rewards are reaped by the tribe tonight. (Name) is drinking and feasting alongside the rest of them, roaring in laughter when a heavy red hand is on her shoulder. She hasn’t a clue that he’s been staring at her ever since she started to laugh. All she knows is that his grin, the grin he gets whenever he’s realized something, is all over his face and his arm is pulling her close to his side. His entire arm engulfs her and keeps her there as he raises his mug to her.
“To my little human.” A declaration.
Maxxor
To be completely frank, she was just interested in exploring Perim. Ever since she had found out the truth about Chaotic, (Name) had barely spent any time playing the actual game. This whole time there was an entirely parallel world to Earth and she was supposed to focus on scanning stuff when there was a whole place to see? No! Actually, well, she did have to scan a few things on occasion to defend her reputation, but beyond that it was all exploration!
Their first encounter had been entirely by accident. She had been meandering through the markets, taking in the sights of Kiru City unaware of the attention she was getting. Human adults are unheard of in Perim after all. However, it’s not until she wanders too close to the training grounds that a shadow looms over her. “I don’t believe we’ve met. Who are you?” Maxxor was recognizable - any player knew him on sight. There is a difference though in seeing the card versus seeing the person. The card doesn’t have a smooth voice or eyes full of intrigue.
Catching herself staring, she said her name and explained how she was curious about- about everything really! Sub-tribes, history, food, art - oh their stories- the second (Name) spotted a library she was going to read the shit out of those books. That had taken him aback. Humans traditionally wanted to scan. They did not seek to understand Perim or the people who lived in it. Seeing such genuine curiosity from a human was different and refreshing.
That day had sparked a fast friendship between the two, built on mutual curiosity for each other’s worlds. Busy or not Maxxor always had time for her during her visits. They could talk well into the night, sharing stories of wonder with the other while enjoying each other’s company. On days where things were quiet they talked while wandering through the city as Maxxor showed her the sights of his home. With each visit, he found it becoming harder and harder to end them, wanting them to last a bit longer, to hear their voice and enjoy their laughter for one minute longer. Yet he says nothing. She has told him of the human world, what wonders it has and what life she leads in it. He could not be selfish enough to ask her to tie herself to him. Her friendship was enough to sustain these feelings of longing - it was the lie Maxxor found himself believing less with each passing day.
Little did he know a certain human felt deeply for him too. And unlike him, selfishness isn’t something she’s concerned about.

Note: Might rewrite the Hollow Knight/Chaotic crossover thingy and add images. Because I mistakenly wrote it in the format of a story outline rather than a series of headcanons like I originally intended. Some actual general headcanons (don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled for the... light novel-style fic, I guess) below:
Players can’t scan Hallownest nor its contents because Chaotic itself has the presence of a Higher Being (going along the “Chaotic is/is connected to the Cothica” theory), and Ghost, now ascended, doesn’t want to deal with yet another “dream entity” threatening their people. Even when they do learn that’s not the case, they don’t really undo it, because by then they’ve received enough tales from the Perrans that it’s a bad idea.
The leaders of the main four tribes are initially shocked to learn that the rightful King of Hallownest and Princess of Deepnest are, by their own standards, children. Children who’ve been in arrested development for centuries and only just started growing again, but children no less. Even Hornet’s so small compared to them that she has to be given a booster seat to see over the railing of the Underworld Colosseum.
Queen Aszil develops something of a fondness for the Hollow Knight, or Prinn Zilfor as she begins to call them (a gender neutral title for prince/princess and a Danian name meaning “Pure/Noble”). A battle-scarred warrior with a soul of steel and swordsmanship skills to match; what’s not to love? I HC the vessels as being unable to speak like normal - soulspeak, the “language of the gods,” functions more like telepathy than speech and when they speak it to mortals it is flat out intimidating - so they communicate via letters. “Zilfor” is much more eloquent in writing than they initially come off.
Grimm Jr quickly gains a reputation as a diplomatic tool, because his brand of cute plucks the heartstrings of members of pretty much all the tribes. The Underworlders in particular were delighted to meet the little firecracker; I imagine UW kids are about as bitey and fiery as he is.
The Danians outright avoid invading the Nests because the last time they tried, they got driven out by native forces beyond their understanding. A plague of the mind, the Radiance’s plague, almost spread into Perim through the Danians, and in response, the queen of the time shut off all contact with Hallownest and destroyed any mention of the incident, save for documents labelled “Only Open During an Emergency” for the queens after her. Illexia’s read the documents, thinking they involved the M’arrillians, but Aszil has not. I imagine Aszil would be at least moderately horrified to learn that the Hollow Knight’s wounds are not just from battle, but from acting as a living prison for a divine plague.
The Underworlders do try invading, but are quickly driven out because they accidentally dug their way into Deepnest trying to avoid the Danians. The hostile environment and swarms of man-eating monsters very quickly send them packing.
It gets pretty quickly established how little interest the Nests have in the Cothica. Much to the confusion and even bemusement of the other leaders, Hornet tells them that they have no need for such things, as Hallownest has plenty magic and godly power on its own. Godly power is a lot less tempting when you’re already something of a demigod. On the muges’ side of things, they’re relieved, but also deeply concerned, because unlike their leaders, they can actually tell that Hornet, Ghost, the Hollow Knight, and a few other entities in the Nests really are Higher than most creatures.
The humans begin losing interest in Hallownest when they realize they can’t scan anything, except for a smallish group of eager explorers who like the challenge. Like spelunking but way harder because there are giant bugs trying to chase you off and actual spike pits with acid.
Monomon is a M’arrillian, or at least “ethnically” so. Knowing her, and knowing the Deep Mines, I imagine that if she was around at that time, she’d be an exile. Though she helped with the Vessel experiments, I don’t think she’d approve of taking over the dryland and possibly destroying all the life and diversity there. She’s a scholar, a scientist, and her quotes (used and unused) all point to her being all about variety, learning, and life, so I can’t imagine she’d want anything to do with Aa’une or his megalomaniacal plans.
Designs for the illustrations/comics are going to be at a midway point between the art styles of the canon materials, with design adjustments on both sides as necessary. On the average, most bugs are about human size. Creature designs might be slightly simplified for ease of drawing to match the ease of drawing the bugs.
And that’s all I got for now. When I come back to this I’ll get to writing that crossover thing for reals.

Codemaster Headcanons:
Tirasis is obsessed with Mr. Robot, but also loudly points out any inaccuracies when it comes the computer portions of the show.
Oron strives to be Bob Ross
The more you get to know Hotekk, the more chance there is you might like him, but the more you get to know Tirasis, the more you might not like him
Amzen owns every Elder Scrolls game on every system they are available
Imthor is stressed. Always.
Oron is the oldest Codemaster, and the only one married + with kids. His wife knows about his job co-owning and creating an online card game, but doesn’t play it herself or know about the other world. His children don’t know either (being too young) but if they play in the future he doesn’t mind, though he does find himself having moral struggles about whether he should or if it’s fair to tell them he’s a Codemaster + some of the other secrets.
Chirrul knows sign language and takes care of all things pertaining to Players with disabilities
Crellan has a stereotypical large Italian family
Imthor is the mastermind behind it all. He won’t even tell the other Codemaster how he came across the world of Perim but he is the one who found it and gathered them all to make the game of Chaotic.
Amzen online and in real life are two very different people. Online she is commanding of respect, formidable, and sociable, but in real life she is rather submissive and quiet, with her nose usually in a book and a game.
Hotekk keeps up a persona of Hollister boy who only plays Call of Duty in real life, but secretly has the worlds biggest collect of trading cards in his closet
Crellan is the only religious Codemaster
Crellan - Gryffindor Hotekk - Gryffindor Amzen - Slytherin Oron - Hufflepuff Tirasis - Slytherin Imthor - Ravenclaw Chirrul - Hufflepuff

Would anyone whose a fan of Chaotic be interested in hearing some of the ideas and headcanons I'd had on something called PERIM BEYOND? The basic idea behind it is "What would Perim be like around 100 years into the future?"

How do you think the tribes would react to a person with Down syndrome or autism? From what know, there seem to be no creatures with those type of illnesses
I think they’re actually pretty well prepared. Creatures seems to have huge bio-diversity and are still able to find ways for most to have the necessities to live happy lives. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a lot of behaviors or traits of neurodiversity among a majority of the greater population in Perim -especially in the Over and UnderWorld as they have the most varied populations. Creatures are probably more adept at spotting these traits in Players too, and just unconsciously handing something to someone who needs to stim for focussing or helping someone isolate if they’re having troubles brought on by over-stimulation.
Even if there’s no canon for it, I headcanon the heck out of this. @firebird963 has some great Autism specific headcanons as well.

Chaotic Headcanons - Tom Majors/MajorTom
Tumblr media
I've really been getting into the Chaotic TV Show/Card game again and after watching most of the episodes, I came up with some headcanons for the show and characters. So, I'm going to start posting some of them here. And I'll start with the Headcanons I have for the main man of the show Tom Majors. I'd love to hear any feedback or other ideas other people have on these. And yes, I'm going to be using the season two are for stuff if I can. I just prefer that art style.
Tom doesn't actually have a lot of friends. Either in the real world or Chaotic. Notice how in the series we almost never really see him hang out with anyone outside his main friend. Tom's always around Kaz, Peyton, and Sarah. When CoolTom seems to be stealing his friends away from him he's pretty much all alone without them. Plus, I think he's the only character who hasn't mentioned or shown having another person in chaotic that they hang out with. Tom's oddly kind of a non-social guy.
Doesn't get along with other Overworld players. From what we see of Chaotic, a lot of Overworld players have what I'd call "Overworlder Supremacy". They not only don't like non-Overworld players but they refuse to use any creatures that aren't Overworlders. They find it to be a disservice to their Overworld cards. Tom got over that in "Silent Sands" and he often butts heads with players who think that way. So, he just doesn't hang out with a lot of Overworld users.
He takes his losses really really hard. He always gets so down on himself when he loses in the show and it's clear that when it happens it really gets to him. Even when he loses to his friends. In his matches with Peyton and Sarah, it's clear that he really hated it and he took the losses personally. Kaz might have been the one to re-battle every opponent he ever lost to, but I think Tom is the one who takes his losses the hardest between the two.
He's got a minor reputation as being a coward. In the show, he's forfeited at least three matches because he realized something was wrong in Perim and went to go help. But since he only explains that to his friends, a lot of players assume he's just a wimp who surrenders when he's losing. That being said, Tom doesn't care. Both because he cares more about what happens in Perim then his reputation in Chaotic and because he'll shut them up by beating them in the dromes.
In terms of raw talent at Chaotic, he's probably the best out of his friends. He's shown early on to have a knack for the game, and while he does get a good few losses, his wins are often the most impressive or creative in the show. Plus, he seems to have a real knack for using unusual cards or strategies. How he used Bodal, how he used Tianne despite not playing Mipedians much, scanning a bunch of stat boosted creatures to beat Hottek. Tom definitely shows that what he lacks in his friends experience in the game, he manages to make up for using quick thinking.

Surprised I haven’t done this already… Viqtarr headcanons.
His former hatred of Danians stemmed from an OverWorld-Danian battle he partook in long ago and lost his left eye. The Mandiblor kept it as a trophy, sparking his disdain for the bugs.
During the darkest hours of the M’arrillian Invasion, he told this to his Danian comrades. Doing so, he managed to let go of his hatred for the tribe.
Has connections with Danian and Mipedian royalty. One of the last creatures in Perim to cross.
Doesn’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
Him and Katarin have been good friends for a while. Between them, Kat acts is the brains and he’s the brawn.
His role as strategist he can be great at… with enough motivation to use his head.
After the Second M’arrillian Invasion, he started hanging with his commando team a lot, the group having developed a strong bond that stayed strong even after the Perithon. He and others volunteered to try freeing Tangath from the Symphony of Stasis their old leader had sealed himself inside.
Before the commando teams were formed, he didn’t favor Tangath much as a leader. During the peak of the Invasion, though, he developed a big respect and feels a bit foolish for doubting the general.
Might be one of the most brutish OverWorlders, but it’s not hard to make him cry. Don’t mock his weight.
Likes to use his hammer as a projectile. That always makes him laugh.
Loves to stop by Herken’s restaurant when he can.
Isn’t big on players scanning and battling as him, finds it awkward and doesn’t want humans tapping into embarrassing memories.
Parenting isn’t much of a thing among his species’ culture, which is why he acts like a child sometimes.
