Driving Home For Christmas (Roger x f!reader)
Summary: Twas the night before Christmas, Roger's on his way home to you for Christmas and takes a detour down Memory Lane.
A/N: I usually write on my writing side blog @roseskiesandbutterflies but I’m using this for the Secret Santa so here we go.
So here is my gift for @borhapparker ‘s Secret Santa! I wrote this for @benders-diamond-earring so please let me know what you thought of it! Sorry, it’s very late. Christmas ended up being busier than expected. I am aware the song was not released at the time this is set but oh well.
Also merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it and for everyone who doesn’t, I hope you have a good week! Also, I hope everyone has a great 2020 too.
Warning(s): swearing, cigarettes
Inspiration: the song, the complete lack of Christmasness around here made me want to create some goodness
Word Count: 1.3k+
Taglist: @briarrose26 @bhmay @bijoukitty @benders-diamond-earring (just for this but let me know if you want to be on it permanently)
Ask to be on my taglist! Let me know if it’s for a specific fandom(s). All of them are in the bio of my writing side blog @roseskiesandbutterflies
*24th December 1975*
As the last chords of God Save The Queen rang out, and as the audience filtered out of the venue, the four members of Queen had taken their last bows and were now leaving the stage, some more reluctant than others. They were all buzzing, the adrenaline rush of perforing radiating from them in waves. Nothing could prepare them for the thrill, its sheer power still shocking them after five years of performing together. Unfortunately, the high had to wear off somehow and Roger was usually the first to suggest celebratory drinks of some description. However, this night was different, for it was Christmas Eve and Roger was quite frankly itching to get home. He loved a good drink as much as the next guy but tonight, he had priorities for once in his life.
You.
You had been a whirlwind presence in Roger’s life the second Miami introduced you as his new assistant back in 1973. He had made the grave mistake of underestimating you when you first arrived, thinking your personality would reflect your stature. He could not have been more wrong and he was secretly grateful for it. You had been the change he needed without either of you realising it.
"Gentlemen," Miami addressed the band, formal as always. The replies he received were far from it but well-meant all the same, "I want to introduce a new colleague of mine to you all. Her name is (Y/N) and she is going to be working with me for the foreseeable future," he then turned to the young woman who had entered the recording studio by then, "(Y/N), this is Queen, I'm under the assumption you are aware of who everyone is?”
The woman in question, (Y/N), blushed ever so slightly before confirming Miami's statement, "Hi, I'm working mainly as Jim's assistant but if you need anything, you can always ask me."
The band shared a look as if they could read one another's minds, before reaching an apparent conclusion. Roger piped up, pissing off Brian who the lady assumed had been elected to speak first, "Miami."
There was nothing she could think of to say in response to that and it must have been evident on her face as Freddie quickly jumped to her rescue, "We call Jim Miami instead, darling. Bit less boring, wouldn't you agree?"
She glanced at Jim, no sorry Miami, who merely shrugged his shoulders in response as if to say he had had no say in the matter. She redirected her attention to the boys to see Freddie elbow a now tomato-faced Roger. She shot the latter a reassuring smile which for some reason only deepened his blush and made (Y/N) giggle to herself.
Even now as he was trying to find the shirt he had discarded a while ago, he was thinking about you, although missing you immensely might be the better phrase to use. The packing-up routine passed by in a blur and at some point he was so unresponsive that he might as well have been a ghost. This alarmed all except for John, as he was the only one who was used to Roger acting in such a way. He was the only one who knew firsthand what that glazed look meant, having been with Veronica for quite some time. While Brian and Freddie kept trying to catch his attention in fear of Roger droppng some seriosuly heavy equipment on his own sodding foot, John merely took the case Roger was holding from him and said, “Go find your love before you crash into something.”
Only then did the other half of Queen understand what was going on and chased Roger out like a mother would to her child who was late for school. Calls of “let us know when you’re home!” and “damn you and your love life!” soon faded into background noise as Roger somehow found his car and quickly drove off.
He suddenly found himself cursing the late London traffic as, soon enough, he found himself at the first of many standstills. Realising that what should be a relatively short journey was going to be anything but, he flicked his car radio on to fill the suffocating silence that had fallen like a blanket. The voice of Jean Challis pierced through the quiet, talking animatedly about Christmas shopping before introducing the next song, of course it had to be a Christmas song, which was the one Elton John released last year. Roger lent back in his seat, knowing he was going to be here for a while. The bright crimson tail lights of the car in front of him were blinding him to a degree where he was seriously considering putting on his godforsaken glasses to avoid permanent damage to his already shitty sight. Even with the radio on, he found his mind drifting off again.
You wandered onto the balcony, needing some fresh air and a break from the roaring party inside. Although fresh air was off the table the second you opened the door; a dragon’s breath worth of cigarette smoke blew into your face. You coughed far more dramatically than necessary as you already knew who the perpetrator was.
Roger fucking Taylor.
“Thought I told you to stop with the smoking, Taylor,” you reprimanded him, trying to sound as much like a disappointed parent as possible.
“Thought I told you to stop catching me out, (Y/L/N),” he turned his head to look at you, the smug smile he wore was wiped away as soon as he saw you actually struggling to breathe, “Are you OK? Shit,” he quickly threw the cigarette off of the balcony. He moved forward as if to help you, but suddenly stopped, unsure of what to do.
“I might as well smoke the damn things myself the amount of smoke I inhale thanks to you,” you joined him properly on the balcony, leaning on it with your forearms. The view wasn’t much, just the rather shabby garden of whoever’s house this was. Roger’s snort caught your attention and you couldn’t help giggle yourself, which then turned into a chuckle from Roger, a breathy laugh from you, another snort from Roger which then set you both off into fits of laughter. After a while you were breathing heavily to regain some kind of control, “I don’t even know what’s funny,” and you were off again.
He gave you the most serious look and said, “It’s not the alcohol is it?” and you couldn’t help but laugh at his deadpan-ness.
After a further couple of minutes, you saw him reach for a cigarette from his back pocket so you swatted his hand away, “Not on my watch, mister,” you eyed him suspiciously as if he’d just stolen the crown jewels, “What is it going to take for you to stop for good?”
He tapped his fingers on the iron railing of the balcony for a moment before replying, “I don’t think I could just quit like that,” there was a hint of shame in his eyes so you decided to let him off a bit.
“OK then,” you thought for a second, “What would I have to do to get you to smoke less?”
An idea flashed in his eyes, though it was gone in an instant and instead replaced with amusement, “Go on a date with me and I’ll consider it.”
It was only meant as a joke, you knew it really, maybe it was the alcohol or the amount you cared for him or the fact that you knew deep down you treated him differently than you did the rest of the band, but you somehow found yourself saying, “Alright then.”
You were shocked at yourself with that and if Roger’s face was anything to go by, then so was he, “Wait are you serious?”
“Are you?” the response was quick and testing. You needed to know his real intentions.
He visibly gulped, almost like a cartoon, then said, “Yes. Yes I am.”
I know it’s quite short so sorry about that, but I wanted to write at least half of it so you know I hadn’t forgotten or anything. Let me know if you’d want the rest of it because I’d be more than happy to do so.

So yes I decided to go to London and get myself into The Outer Body to try out.
I initially went in mid November and met some amazing girls who helped me out a lot. I told them I wanted to know the ‘hype’ about the outer body and what was so special about it. I also did little snippets on my Instastory which you can see further down the blog the nonsense I talk (and please excuse my annoying voice!)
As I didn’t have time to try it on when I first visited the store, I decided to revisit them the following week, with my Canon so I could try it out for myself.
In this blog, I will explain my experience, what I had to do to get my sizing followed by trying it on for myself.
The Spec
Colour: Black
Size: Small (UK 8-10)
Materials: Main body: 74% polyamide, 26% elastane Lining: 100% cotton
Price: £120.00
Website: Heist: The Outer Body
My 1st Experience
When I first visited Heist, I stumbled across it by accident when I was strolling through Seven Dials, London. As soon as I saw the shop (with that amazing hosiery window display), I knew I had to go in and see what it was like for myself.
The girls who were there (I forgot names – whoops!) were ever so helpful when I walked in! My initial question to them was:
“What makes the outer body so different to other shapewear for that price?”
Now they explained how it is different to Spanx – it lets your body breathe, it lets it move, you don’t end up with markings from your shapewear no matter how long you wear it for. It’s durable, lasts after numerous washes, and the best of it –
You can wear it as outer wear so you don’t need to hide it under clothing!
I cannot tell you how I enjoyed my conversation with them; it wasn’t all about selling it to me, it was giving me all the information I needed to hear about it. I didn’t want all these big words and unknown terms thrown my way so it sounds all fancy; I wanted the simple basic version and they delivered that!
  My 2nd Experience
So I went back in the following week (and they were expecting me too let me just add!) and I had another amazeballs helpful woman (who by the way makes her own awesome earrings!) who gave me a little run down of how the fitting is going to go:
They first take measurements to find out what size I will be;
they measure around the bust
the body loop (from the shoulder under your womanly area and back up the shoulder again)
the waist
the hip
I forgot to take an image of the lady doing this!! Just to let you know it’s best to wear something easy to slip off so they can measure you correctly; I had to be in a tight fitted skirt didn’t I when I stepped in!
Now the sad thing here is that I am going to be an X-Small which they currently don’t have in stock, so I said I would happily try the Small on to see what it’s like on the skin. So when you come to read my little review below, please just remember it won’t be about the sizing in my blog, but about the product itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh by the way, the image above is in one of their changing rooms; I cannot tell you how cute it is in there, let alone spacious! I loved their wall art and the signage on the mirror, so I had to take a pic to show you all (please excuse my weird face!)
  The Review
From The Website: Does everything shapewear should, but better. Shaping, comfortable, wearable – and takes up to 5cm off your waist.
Shaping The Outer Body takes up to 5cm off your waist without putting pressure on other areas by mimicking your body’s own support system. Seam-free edges lie flat for an invisible look no matter what you’re wearing.
Comfortable We made The Outer Body breathable thanks to 20,000 laser perforations in the shaping panels, so you feel supported without getting hot and bothered.
Wearable We timed it: you can get in and out of The Outer Body in 15 seconds. Plus, a hook-and-eye fastening makes bathroom breaks easy.
Getting It On: so once again bear in mind that this is not my size! It was pretty easy to slip into; I went from top down rather than bottom up (like some people do) and then did the hooks at the bottom.
Their whole motto around this is that it’s easy to get on, so you don’t waste time wiggling yourself into it. It’s just a straight get on and go.
Tumblr media
The Front: okay so the front as you will be able to see further down is supposed to be a smooth flush finish around the breasts, so it looks like you’re wearing a top. On me you see these strands from the under-breast to the shoulder – this should not happen when you’re in the right size and fit for your body.
Under the breasts you have this massive panel where it starts to work its way in; this is the bit where it’s supposed to shape you in.
The straps are also adjustable let me mention (before I forget to) so you have the option to make it comfortable and fitted to you.
Tumblr media
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
The Fitting: okay so as you can see below, the back is looking slightly baggy – a proper fitted body won’t be doing this to you. It will be flush against the skin; basically acting like a 2nd skin.
It shouldn’t be loose or too tight; so you can breathe and not be so restricted. Even over the tushy – it needs to be hugging it and not flapping over. At least you all can see how it shouldn’t look on you – which I think is a bonus 🙂
Zooming Into It: I gotta say I did love how this felt on; it’s so soft, so smooth, so comfortable and not once did I end up perspiring in it. I love the way it didn’t rub against me; I hate it when shapewear irritates the skin and just makes you wanna tear it off.
Now I have done some images where I exposed the light, so you can see those hidden panels on the back and front. This body is made out of bonded material which allows your skin to breathe through this – something that I don’t think other shapewear has to offer if I am honest. It’s the first I have heard of it – and loved the idea!
You don’t wanna be sweaty Betty!!!
Oh and another little pointer – the breast cups are also moulded too – so it gives a smooth seamless finish!
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
So as I was talking to the lovely girls at the shop, they mentioned to me that a lot of people tend to go for a smaller size to wear under occasionwear. I did question this;
Larger sized women tend to go one size (or even 2 at times) smaller just to wear under occasionwear. This is not idea to wear for the whole day, but for a few hours to give that striking curved in effect. The Small size is the best seller at the moment!
This doesn’t mean medium and large aren’t flying off the shelves, but it’s ideal to wear a size that fits you perfectly if you’re after something to wear all day!
I was so amazed at this; the fact that a Small can fit a large person is astonishing. But then again it doesn’t surprise me as this is some stretchy material which holds its shape. I really can see why this outer body is now worth the price after trying it myself.
  My Thoughts?
I gotta say I am loving it. I did think (like many others) that it was overpriced and why would someone pay so much money for this? What makes it different from Spanx or other brands who offer it for more than half the price?!
I see why now – the amount of work that has gone into this is amazing. It does everything it says on the packet in my eyes; it allows you to breathe, it allows you to move without feeling like you have shapewear on. It does it so effortlessly and that is something you cannot find anywhere!
Another bonus point is that you can wear this as a normal bodysuit; expose it as much as you like! Wear it with a blazer on top or a sheer blouse; forget hiding this! OWN IT!
So if you’re after an XS (like I am) a little birdie told me these will be available early 2019!
I would like to say a massive thank you to the Heist Team; both social and the girls I met in the store. You have made my experience so pleasant (something I certainly won’t ever be forgetting) and I cannot wait to try the X-Small so I can give a proper review of it on me!
Heist: The Outer Body So yes I decided to go to London and get myself into The Outer Body to try out.

Citizens Design Bureau adds "delicately perforated" Corten extension to Manchester Jewish Museum
UK studio Citizens Design Bureau has renovated and extended a heritage-listed synagogue to create a museum that "tells the stories of Jewish Mancunians".
Set between a builder's merchant and a self-storage company in the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester, the studio aimed to create a building that would complement the industrial surroundings, but also be intriguing.
Manchester Jewish Museum has a Corten extension
"We wanted the building to make people curious, to ask questions and most of all to make connections," said Citizens Design Bureau founder Katy Marks.
"It's essentially an industrial shed clad in corten steel, but delicately perforated so that it acts as an intriguing moment in a cluttered streetscape, sparking conversations in one of Manchester’s most culturally diverse communities," she told Dezeen.
The extension's perforations were informed by the synagogue's architecture
Citizens Design Bureau renovated the synagogue, which was built in 1874 by Edward Solomons and is the oldest in the city, and added a weathering steel extension alongside it.
The colour of the Corten steel and a series of geometric perforations were designed to complement the synagogue and were directly informed by its Moorish architectural motifs.
The museum has a new entrance
"Our approach to the new building, therefore, takes a palette of rich, earthen colours and Moorish geometry in abstracted form," explained Marks.
"Rather than take one pattern and copy it across the facade, we wanted to express a process of enquiry, research and understanding, so the pattern is an exploration of eight-point geometry, with each node slightly different," she continued.
"We felt that now more than ever, we could express in architectural form the idea that 'we have more in common than that which divides us'."
The extension is built around a skylight-topped atrium
Built around a skylight-lit atrium, the extension doubles the size of the museum and contains space for exhibiting and storing the museum's collection of 31,000 objects that tell the story of Jewish Manchester.
An archive is located on the ground floor, while a gallery space occupies the entire upper storey.
"Inside, the museum has a brilliant social history collection that was previously displayed within the synagogue itself," said Marks.
"We wanted to give the collection its own space to tell the stories of Jewish Mancunians and allow the synagogue to become a living artefact in its own right."
The upper floor contains exhibition galleries
With the aim of attracting a wide range of visitors to the museum, the architecture studio created a large new entrance to the museum.
"We got a lot of feedback that many people found the appearance of the synagogue to be very explicitly religious, which gave the impression that the museum was specifically about the Jewish faith," said Marks.
"Creating a new and accessible entrance was key to making sure that everyone would feel genuinely welcome."
Exhibition spaces display some of the museum collection's 30,00o items
A cafe and shop were positioned alongside the entrance at the front of the extension to draw in visitors.
At the rear of the site, the museum is completed with a learning and community space that also contains a kitchen.
A cafe was positioned at the front of the museum
"As a small museum in an unusual out of town location, we were very aware that we would need to think holistically about this project and so the brief evolved to ensure that every single space became an integrated part of the museum experience," explained Marks.
"Through our test baking workshops, it became clear that not only is food a brilliant unifying force, it’s also a brilliant medium for storytelling," she continued.
"Visitors to the museum will be able to bake and eat together and learn about Jewish history through the medium of food."
The museum also contains a community space
Citizens Design Bureau is a London-based architecture studio that was established by Marks in 2013.
Also in Manchester, architecture studio Carmody Groarke recently added a lower-level entrance and gallery space to the city's science museum.
Photography is by Philip Vile.

Here’s how to protect yourself (and others!) and support a local business at the same time.

With social distancing orders still very much in effect across Canada, fashion brands are increasingly coming up with ways to help support the community at this time, including pivoting manufacturing to produce PPE for hospitals and frontline workers. Now, a handful of brands have also committed to producing face masks for consumers to help protect against the spread of COVID-19. You can, of course, make your own mask using materials you probably already have at home, or you can purchase a ready-made mask from one of the following brands:
CMP Couture
Tumblr media
Toronto-based dressmaker CMP Couture has started creating face masks for consumers which are currently available through the brand’s Etsy shop. Designer Christine M.Peter is offering a range of cotton and linen non-medical grade masks, as well as lace masks designed specifically with brides in mind.
Prices start at $15. Get yours here.
Greta Constantine
Designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong of Greta Constantine have designed a set of fashion-forward masks for consumers that are available from today. The masks – inspired by some of the brand’s signature designs – are available in adult and children sizes and have been named after Toronto’s postal codes, “the city where all of the masks are proudly designed, produced and shipped from” the brand tells us in an email. At present, M1-M5 are available with M6-M9 currently under development.
Instead of selling the masks on their own site, Greta Constantine is making their masks available exclusively through a handful of retailers across Ontario and Vancouver to help “support the small businesses that line our streets and define our communities.” In Toronto, the list includes Andrews (both in-store and online), By Tocca (in-store), LAC + CO (in-store and online), MAXI Boutique (in-store and online), London, Ontario’s Saffron Road (in-store and online), Leamington, Ontario’s Willabee’s (in store) and Vancouver’s Wardrobe Apparel (in-store and online).

For every mask purchased, one will be donated to a healthcare worker in Canada.

House of Jimbo
Multi-disciplinary performance artist Jimbo has launched a series of eye-catching masks through his online platform, House of Jimbo. When the COVID-19 crisis hit, Jimbo and his partner, master wig-maker Brady Taylor, transformed their B.C. studio to make masks for the homeless population living in Victoria’s Pandora Ave, as well as street-level frontline workers. To continue to allow Jimbo and his team to produce masks for the vulnerable, the House of Jimbo has released seventeen masks that are now available for purchase. Featuring bold prints, including paisley, flames, kittens and the classic Canadian check (among others), the masks are made in a high quality cotton and come with a liner to add a filter sheet if you wish. For every mask purchased, Jimbo is donating one mask to someone living on the streets in BC. The aim is to expand this one-for-one offering to Toronto, too, with handouts having already begun.
The masks are $25 each. Get yours here.
Roots
Canadian retailer Roots has made a collection of masks for consumer use, which are now available for purchase. The masks are available in a variety of colours, with various slogans: Stay Home Toronto, Stay Home, Home is Toronto, Home is Canada and Peace Collective.
The masks are available in packs of 2, 3, 6 and 12, with prices starting at $30. For every mask purchased, the brand will donate one to someone working on the front line. Get yours here.
commUNITY
Though not technically a fashion brand, Toronto-based organization commUNITY was formed to give as many Canadians as possible access to low-cost, non-medical face masks to help protect themselves and others. Since its launch in early April, the brand has received over 1,000 orders. The masks are sold individually and are available in a variety of colours (with iron-on decals available for personalization, too). They’re made from a breathable cotton, and are washable and dryer-friendly. To help give back to the community at this time, $1 from every mask sold will be donated to Food Banks Canada.
The masks are $13.50. Get yours here.

SUPREME COURT OF CANADA: “FAIR AND EFFICIENT RESOLUTION”
The Supreme Court of Canada underscored the importance of Class actions in Canada stating: “While the class action has existed in one form or another for hundreds of years, its importance has increased of late.  Particularly in complicated cases implicating the interests of many people, the class action may provide the best means of fair and efficient resolution.” Western Canadian Shopping Centres Inc. v. Some provinces in Canada have enacted comprehensive legislation related to class action causes of action “And in Canada, the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec have enacted comprehensive statutory schemes to govern class action practice:  see British Columbia Class Proceedings Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 50; Ontario Class Proceedings Act, 1992, S.O. 1992, c. 6; Quebec Code of Civil Procedure, R.S.Q., c. CANADIAN CITIZENS MAY BE UNAWARE OF THEIR RIGHTS TO PURSUE JUSTICE IN THE UNITED STATES’ COURT SYSTEM
Apparently, the vast majority of aggrieved Canadian Ethicon Physiomesh™ victims are not aware that they have the option of utilizing the United States Judicial system for compensation* “As Americans continue to file hernia mesh lawsuits, Canadians began their hernia mesh class action claiming they weren’t warned of the implant’s risks.” More info

PROBLEMS WITH CLASS ACTIONS
Class actions can be very problematic since individual claimants do not have control over their own case. Individual claimants may not have control over a settlement. Lawinfo sets forth one of the main problems with class actions: “Lack of decision making control. Class action lawsuits are, by definition, representative rather than group litigation. That means that representatives of the affected class make the important litigation decisions – including when to settle. A plaintiff who is not a representative does not have a say in whether to settle or continue to litigation.”  Lawinfo Resource
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A CLASS ACTION
“Class actions are a mechanism designed to provide access to the courts for claims that are too small to be prosecuted economically on their own,” said Robb, a partner in class actions at Siskinds LLP in London, Ont.” https://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/personal-finance/household-finances/thinking-of-joining-a-class-action-lawsuit-know-your-options/article19777681/
“Class actions lump together all those who might meet the stated criteria for the class. A certified action has two phases. A first phase sorts out the “common issues” for all the class members, and the second looks at the individual circumstances for each class member. So while class actions do eventually look at an individual’s situation, this doesn’t happen until much later in the case. That “common issues” phase can take a long, long time. The controversy is whether it’s fair, post certification, to make all class members wait until that common issues phase wraps up before individual class members can settle their own claims.” http://business.financialpost.com/legal-post/the-opt-out-option-controversy
DO I NEED TO OPT OUT OF A CANADIAN CLASS ACTION?
Please consult with a Canadian class action hernia mesh lawyer whether you have to opt out of the class action. A Canada Ethicon Physiomesh™ hernia mesh attorney can explain your legal rights in Canada regarding whether you need to opt out of the Canadian Hernia mesh class action. A mesh recall is a serious matter and you should seek legal advice.
“Ontario is an “opt-out” jurisdiction. That means if a representative plaintiff succeeds in getting an action certified, potential members of the class are given a window of time during which they can declare that they want out. After this “opt-out” period expires, qualified members of the class action are in, whether they like it or not. Cue the Eagles … and welcome to the Hotel California.”  Opt out info
“Canadian jurisdictions have adopted opt-out regimes subject to one exception to be discussed.  The opt-out regime was adopted because of the widely held view that most class members are passive in the proceedings. Thus, to have an opt-in regime would have the effect of greatly diminishing the size of most classes in many instances because potential members would not take the necessary steps to have themselves included in the class or they might not have obtained actual notice at all. At the same time, opt-out regimes do permit class members who are actively opposed to the proceedings to exclude themselves if they are so inclined; few have done so. Class action
“Since the same witnesses and authorities will be relevant in each case, consolidating them makes sense. It also allows a Defendant to settle knowing that they will then not face individual claims later for the same thing. Once a class action is brought everyone who has a similar claim becomes a member of the class and subject to the findings in the class action lawsuit unless they specifically choose to opt out of the class action so they can bring their own claim.” http://adrworks.com/class-action-lawsuit/
CLASS ACTIONS IN CANADA
“Most class action claims settle and all settlements must be approved by the court and found to be in the best interests of the members of the class who are claiming. Individual class members may give input to the court when a settlement is proposed. This may include opposing the settlement especially if they would not benefit from it or if they believe the compensation is not adequate. Once a settlement is approved by the court people who are entitled then file claims which are assessed by a claims administrator in accordance with the settlement agreement. Once all claims are assessed it can be determined how much any person will receive as compensation. It may still take a long time from settlement to payment as many of our clients have experienced with the Vioxx case which settled with an agreement in January 2012, with court approval given in September 2012 and claims still being assessed almost to the end of 2015. Payment of those claims is now expected early in 2016.” http://adrworks.com/class-action-lawsuit/
Referring to transvaginal tape litigation, “Matthew Baer, a lawyer with the Siskinds Law firm in Ontario tells MDND they don’t have Multidistrict litigation in Canada, instead a person can file an individual claim or join a class action. In Canada, we file on behalf of one person and get that certified as it applies to everyone else. The individual issues will be sorted out down the road. It can take two years to be certified and we don’t get access to discovery until the case is certified. It is only after the class is certified that a Canadian law firm can move ahead on discovery getting documents from the other side.  As the case proceeds individual are brought forward to represent the class like a mini-trial.” http://www.meshmedicaldevicenewsdesk.com/canadian-courts-take-aim-at-ethicon/
WHAT ARE THE COMPLICATIONS OF MESH REJECTION
According to CLG.org, “The alleged injuries, conditions and complications suffered due to hernia mesh products include, but are not limited to:
– Hernia recurrence – Chronic pain – Mesh contraction – Mesh migration – Scarring – Adhesions – Infection and abscess formation – Pain with sex – Testicle removal – Bleeding – Intestinal blockage – Fistulas – Hematomas – Seromas – Liver abnormalities – Perforations – Bowel obstructions – Dental problems – Autoimmune disorders” https://www.clg.org/Class-Action/List-of-Class-Actions/Hernia-Mesh-Injury-Canadian-Class-Action
*** The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) ordered that all Ethicon Psyiomesh hernia mesh causes of action are transferred to the Northern District of Georgia. “IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that the actions listed on Schedule A and pending outside the Northern District of Georgia are transferred to the Northern District of Georgia and, with the consent of that court, assigned to the Honorable Richard W. Story for coordinated or consolidated pretrial proceedings.” Transfer order
The Court reasoned that,“We are also not persuaded that informal coordination is a practicable solution here. Almost 70 actions are pending in 36 district courts, and dozens of law firms are involved in this litigation. Section 1407 centralization will place all actions before one judge who can structure pretrial proceedings to enhance efficiency and more effectively minimize overlap.” Id. ” Centralization will eliminate duplicative discovery; prevent inconsistent pretrial rulings; and conserve the resources of the parties, their counsel, and the judiciary.” Id.
