Valentine’s Card (Penguin x f!reader)

A/N: my piece of work for @quinloki valentines event <3

Valentine’s day was something you really hated. Why do you need a day to express your love for the people who deserved it? However there was something you absolutely loved. Creating Valentine’s Cards with funny quotes. You spent the last two nights creating some origin quotes for your crewmates. It was your first valentine’s day with the heart pirates and you weren’t sure how they would react.

As soon as the sun rose you were up, delivering your valentine’s card.

Ikkaku was the first one who got hers. She was confused after you handed her a light purple card. While her eyes were scanning the words, a laugh escaped her and tears were forming. “‘Are you an octopus? Because you octopi my thoughts.’ Haha what is this?”

You grinned. “Just my appreciation for valentine’s day.” “I absolutely love this. Thank you.”

As time passed you handed over several cards. There were only 4 left. Law, Bepo, Shachi and of course Penguin. The rest of the crew were smiling at you, even Jean Bart’s cheeks were a little red after reading his.

The next ones you found were Bepo and Law and this was kinda scary.

Law’s gaze was stern and unamused as he was observing you.

“I just thought I could give you something to make you smile.”

You said and handed Bepo and Law their cards.

Bepo was smiling and read his card out loud. “‘You are beary special for me.’ Ohh you are so cute and nice y/n. Thank you.” And with that you got a big hug from Bepo.

“Thanks Bepo but you are nearly killing me right now.”

You looked at Law and became nervous. He scoffed a little and you tried to escape his presence. “Well time to go.” - “Wait a damn minute y/n-ya.”

Your captain said a little louder and you yelped while turning your body towards him once more.

“Look captain I just thought it may be a fu-”

“Thanks.” He said and you blinked at him a few times.

“Huh?”

And then you saw it. A rare small smile on his lips.

“I stole your heart, huh?” He smirked and a blush was now on your face and you tried to hide your face. “I just thought it may be funny…”

“I know.” He took a few steps towards you, his index finger was on your chin, forcing you to look up at him. It was the first time your captain was so close to you. And damn was he attractive. “See this as payback.” He said with a low voice as he stepped away from you. “Let’s go Bepo.” he said and both of them left you. Your heart was racing. “God dang it, Captain. I nearly fell in love with you back there.” You mumbled and took a few deep breaths.

It took a while for you to calm down and if there wasn’t already someone who captured your heart, you were pretty sure that you would indeed fall for your captain. Especially with this husky voice of his. “Captain was pretty smooth, huh?” A voice was catching you off guard and there you saw Shachi in the door frame.

“How long did you stand there?”

“A while.” Shachi said and grinned. “So do you have one of these pretty cards for me and Peng as well?” He wiggled his eyebrow and with a scoff you handed him over a card.

“‘You’re a whale of a friend.’” Oh damn please tell me you read those cheeky lines somewhere.

“Nope” You tipped your head. “I used my brain for these masterpieces.”

Shachi leaned an arm over your shoulder. “Last one for your special someone? Or your special penguin?”

Your cheeks grew hot and you pushed him away. “It’s just a coincidence that Penguin is the last one to receive one.”

Shachi was staring at me with an amused look. “Of course darling. He is in our room.”

There you were standing in front of Penguin’s and Shachi shared room. You were nervous. Your hands felt sweaty, your body was trembling. It took a couple of minutes for you to knock on the door. Soon enough a “Come in” was heard and you entered the room quickly and closed the door.

PEnguin was slightly confused seeing you there. He didn’t expect you at all.

“Oh hey Y/N.” He said and was leaving his bed, standing in front of you. “Are you ok? Do you have a fever? Your face is quite red.”

Before his hands could touch your forehead you hugged him. Now it was him who went red and Penguin couldn’t help but stutter. “W-W-What?” He said and wanted to reciprocate your hug but you quickly let go of him, taking a few steps back.

“I’m sorry I don’t have any clue why I did this. Ehmm I have something for you.”

You gave him his card. “I have to go bye.” And then Penguin was alone in his room.

Dumbfounded, blushing and reading his card all over. Again and again.

‘Waddling your way to wish you a happy valentine’s day’ Two penguins were holding hands and a cute little heart was above them, like a mistletoe.

Penguin was happy and couldn’t help but smile all the time. Til the point where he met Shachi and Hakugan. They were talking about something, holding a card in their hands.

“Hey guys. What are you talking about?” He was curious and afraid. He recognized your handwriting.

“We were talking about our cards. Y/N made one for us. Everyone has a different cheeky quote.” Hakugan said excitedly and showed Penguin his card. ‘You’re the catch of the day.’

Penguin felt down and both men in front of him noticed it.

“Are you ok?” He nodded and mumbled. “Yeah I just thought I would be special.”

“What did you say?” Hakugan asked. He was concerned.

“It’s fine.” He said and left the room. Shachi was fast behind him. “What’s wrong bro?”

“It’s nothing.”

“Come on. Something is bugging you.”

“I said, it’s nothing. Stop bickering me.”

Shachi stand still. “Are you jealous or something?”

“I have no reason to be jealous!” Penguin was turning towards his best friend. Screaming at him. He was angry even though his friend did nothing wrong. “Come on Bro.” Shachi said calmly, leading his best friend to the nearest storage room, so both of them could sit on the nearest box.

“You can talk to me dude.”

Penguin was pouting. “I know you said you have no reason to be jealous, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t feel this way.”

“You’re right.” Penguin said. His voice was barely a whisper.

“I thought I was someone special.” He confessed and Shachi patted his shoulder. “You are special to y/n.”

He groaned. “Yeah special like all of you.”

“You are different from us.”

“Yeah sure.” The man with the penguin said with a scoff.

“Stop being a sarcastic ass. She even denied Law. I heard her talking to herself. Stuff like ‘She would fell for him, if there wasn’t someone else who got her heart already’”

Penguin looked up at Shachi, a sad look in his eyes. “She fell for Captain?” He asked.

“DUDE!” Shachi smacked his arm. “Learn to listen! No, she didn’t fall for him. Because there is someone else. She is in love with someone else.”

Penguin was hiding his face under his hat. “Great. Thanks for that.”

“I bet it’s you.”

Penguin couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah sure. Just go and leave me alone.”

“It’s the truth. Why can-!” - “WHY should she love someone like me? Why do think so? I am just a friend to her. Like everyone here. Stop trying to cheer me up.” Penguin stood up and stormed outside the storage room, losing his card in return.

Shachi was taking his card, reading it and couldn’t help but laugh like a maniac. “He’s a confirmed idiot.”

The red hair stood up, leaving the room and could see Penguin’s back.

“Maybe you should read the small print, dumbass!” Shachi screamed and Penguin froze. He was turning towards Shachi slowly. “What?”

Penguin could see the card in the hands of his best friend. “Lost something?” Shachi grinned , taking a few steps towards his best friend, and giving his valentine’s card back to you.

“Learn to read properly.” With that he left.

And Penguin read it again. His best friend was right. He was an idiot. With fast steps he was running through the Polar Tang, searching for you. As soon as he saw you, he hugged you. “The answer is Yes. Always and forever.”

‘When Penguins find their mate, they stay together forever. Wanna be my Penguin?’
