Transabdominal (through the abdomen): A transducer is placed on the abdomen using the conductive gel.The two methods of pelvic ultrasound are: Your doctor may use only one method, or both methods may be needed to provide the information needed for diagnosis or treatment. The type of ultrasound procedure performed depends on the reason for the ultrasound. Absence or faintness of these sounds may indicate an obstruction of blood flow. The degree of loudness of the audible sound waves indicates the rate of blood flow within a blood vessel. The Doppler probe within the transducer evaluates the velocity and direction of blood flow in the vessel by making the sound waves audible.
#Pelvic sonogram skin#
A clear conducting gel is placed between the transducer and the skin to allow for smooth movement over the skin and to eliminate air for the best sound conduction.īy using Doppler ultrasound during an ultrasound procedure, blood flow can be assessed. Ultrasound uses a transducer that emits ultrasonic sound waves that bounce off the organs like an echo and return to the transducer, converting the echo into an electronic image of the organs. Doppler ultrasound may also show blood flow in certain pelvic organs. A pelvic ultrasound allows your doctor to get a quick visualization of your pelvic organs and structures including the uterus, cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes and ovaries. A pelvic ultrasound is a noninvasive procedure used to assess organs and structures within your pelvis.

Diamond heads to doctor Pt6
About 10 minutes later someone knocks on the door and peeks their head in.
Nurse Joe: Hello Diamond! Please follow me. We are going to the Xray room.
Diamond: Is everything ok?
Nurse Joe: Absolutely! No need to worry!
Tumblr media
Diamond grabs her clothes and walks down the long hallway behind the nurse.
Diamond: Is there a reason I need this x-ray??
Nurse Joe: Not worry! We want to just confirm everything is good and sonograms can sometimes be blurry.
Tumblr media
Nurse Joe: Ok now stand still right here in the machine, ok?
Diamond: Should I take my earrings off?
Nurse Joe: Nope. We are only capturing images in your pelvic region.
Diamond thinks to herself, panicking that something is wrong. The test takes about 10 minutes.

Young Turks Chapter 21
AO3
“I don’t want to tell anyone until we know.” They sit in the exam room, waiting on the midwife.

“You don’t trust the blood test?” he questions.

“I do. I mean, know that all is alright and that the baby is staying.”

He knows her mum had several miscarriages before Harriet came. He won’t try to talk her out of her fears. Instead, he nods and takes her hand.  He feels her breath  let out in relief as she rests her head against him.

“Hi, I am Annie and will be your midwife. You are Claire and Jamie, right?”

“Yes.”

“Very good. Didn’t wish to be in the wrong room.” Her sense of humor helps but Claire at ease. She grins at her. “Claire, I need you to lay back. Jamie, please have a seat over there.”

He moves to the seat beside the table as Claire lays back.

“This is the sucky part. The good news, I won’t have to do it every time. Must visits will just be weighing you, checking your urine, and measuring baby. Later, sonograms, fetal heart tones and that type of really cool stuff. A pelvic is done now to establish the pregnancy is there and is secure.”

“Understand.” She says. Her eyes close as Annie begins the exam. She focuses on breathing as the speculum is inserted and she is opened up.

“Everything alright?” Jamie asks.

“Just fine, daddy.  A well established pregnancy with a tightly closed cervix. Just what we want to see.”

“Thank God.” Claire says. The equipment is removed and her uterus is measured

“You are measuring seven weeks.” They are told.

“Awesome.”

“Annie I have a question.”

“Of course Claire.” She takes a seat by the table.

“My mum had three miscarriages between my sister and I. Is it, are they like genetic?”

“No. We have discovered no genetic link between a mum and daughter that involves miscarriages. In truth, unless it is late enough that test can be done on the baby, most miscarriages are never solved. We don’t know why they happen. I understand your worry. I can say that I see no reason that you won’t carry this pregnancy to term. Also, you are more then have way through the time that most occur.”

“Thank you. That helps.”

“You call the service if you have any concerns. Okay. If something just feels off. Any weird pain, though with the normal stretching and loosening of your body during this time, twinges in strange places happen. But, if it worries you, it worries me and I will check it out. Okay?”

“Okay. Thank you. It really helps a lot.”

“Excellent. Let’s  get you sat up and discuss diet and exercise, morning sickness, a misnomer by the way, happens all the time, prenatal vitamins, and the like. Will also give you an estimated date of confinement, aka due date. Now, don’t take it as gospel. Very few babies arrive on their due date.  It should more properly be called, due month as they can come two weeks before or after.”

It is a lot and they are both happy pamphlets come with each topic. They leave, an hour after entering with a stack of them, a receipt for prenatal vitamins, and a due date of April 9th.

"Sonography: Understanding the Procedure and Pricing"
Tumblr media
Introduction:
In the realm of diagnostic medicine, sonography stands out as a versatile and invaluable tool, offering a non-invasive glimpse into the intricate structures within our bodies. Whether it's monitoring fetal development during pregnancy or investigating potential health concerns in various organs, sonography has become an integral part of modern healthcare. This blog aims to delve into the world of sonography, exploring its procedures and shedding light on the crucial aspect of price considerations.
Understanding Sonography:
**Sonography, or ultrasound imaging, utilizes high-frequency sound waves to generate real-time images of the inside of the body.** The procedure involves a transducer, a small hand-held device, which emits sound waves and captures the echoes as they bounce back. These echoes are then translated into visual images, providing a detailed view of organs, tissues, and blood flow. One of the key advantages of sonography is its non-invasive nature, making it a safe and widely used diagnostic technique.
Common Types of Sonography Procedures:
1. Obstetric Sonography:
   - This type of sonography is well-known for monitoring fetal development during pregnancy. It helps assess the health and growth of the fetus, detect any abnormalities, and determine the baby's gender.
2. Abdominal Sonography:
   - Abdominal sonography is used to examine the organs in the abdominal cavity, such as the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and pancreas. It aids in identifying abnormalities, including tumors or cysts.
3. Pelvic Sonography:
   - Pelvic sonography is commonly employed to assess the health of the reproductive organs in both males and females. It can detect issues like ovarian cysts, fibroids, or prostate abnormalities.
4. Vascular Sonography:
   - Focusing on blood vessels, vascular sonography helps in diagnosing conditions such as blood clots, aneurysms, or arterial blockages.
5. Cardiac Sonography:
   - Also known as echocardiography, this type of sonography evaluates the structure and function of the heart. It aids in detecting heart conditions and assessing overall cardiac health.
**Factors Influencing Sonography Price:**
The cost of a sonography procedure can vary significantly, and understanding the factors influencing these prices is crucial for making informed decisions about healthcare expenditures.
1. Type of Sonography:
   - Different types of sonography procedures come with varying levels of complexity. Obstetric sonography, for instance, may be more routine compared to a detailed vascular or cardiac sonogram, influencing the overall cost.
2. Geographical Location:
   - The cost of healthcare services often varies based on the region. Urban areas and well-established medical facilities might have higher prices due to increased operational costs.
3. Facility Reputation:
   - Renowned hospitals and diagnostic centers with a reputation for accuracy and reliability may charge higher prices. The assurance of quality service can be a significant factor for many individuals.
4. Technology and Equipment:
   - Facilities equipped with state-of-the-art ultrasound machines and advanced technology may charge more for their services. However, the higher cost may be justified by the improved precision of the imaging.
5. Additional Services:
   - Some sonography centers offer additional services, such as consultations with specialists, 3D imaging, or extended reports. These extras can contribute to an increase in overall test prices.
Navigating Sonography Prices:
1. Government Healthcare Facilities:
   - Government hospitals and clinics often provide sonography services at subsidized rates or even for free. This makes them an accessible option for those on a tight budget.
2. Private Diagnostic Centers:
   - Private diagnostic centers offer a range of sonography services, and their prices can vary. It's advisable to research multiple centers to find a balance between affordability and quality.
3. Hospital Sonography Departments:
   - Many hospitals have dedicated sonography departments, providing integrated services with other medical specialties. While prices may be slightly higher, the convenience and comprehensive healthcare approach can be beneficial.
4. Specialized Sonography Clinics:
   - Specialized clinics focusing solely on sonography may offer competitive prices, especially if they operate efficiently with lower overhead costs.

Ultrasound Scan In Ayapakkam
Ultrasound Scan, Pelvic Ultrasound and Steps of Procedure
An ultrasound exam (Sonogram) is a painless diagnostic technique that uses the way sound waves travel through the body. As sound waves pass through the body, they bounce off tissues and organs in a certain way.  The reflected waves can be used to create images of internal organs. Sound waves do not cause damage to the body and there is no radiation hazard.
Patients can return to daily work immediately after the test. Some tests, such as scanning the bladder for residual urine do not require much experience on the part of the user. Other examinations like ultrasoundof the kidneys, testicles, or prostate, require more experience or skill. For this, you need to contact ultrasound scan in Ayapakkam Chennai.
Steps of Procedure
You will remove clothing from the portion of the body to be examined and lie down on a table.
The ultrasound technician will apply a special gel to your skin in the area to be examined.
The ultrasound technician will hold a wand-shaped device, call a transducer, and move it over your skin. The device will send sound waves to your body. The gel prevents air from getting between the device and your skin, preventing sound waves from entering your body.
Sound waves are so high-pitched that you can't hear or feel them.
Sound waves “bounce off” structures inside your body. The ultrasound machine picks up the echoes and turns them into images on a computer screen. You can see images on the screen during the test.
After the examination, the ultrasound technician will wipe the gel off your skin.
What is a pelvic ultrasound?
Pelvic ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic test that produces images used to evaluate the organs and structures of the female pelvis. Pelvic ultrasound provides quick images of a woman's pelvic organs and structures, including the uterus, cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.
𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐋𝐚𝐛&𝐗-𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐬 – Top Ultrasound Scan in Chennai
It is a leading centre for ultrasound scan in Ayapakkam. Although ultrasound images are not as detailed and accurate as that of CT or MRI, they are effective because they quickly and safely obtain images of specific soft tissue disorders that are difficult to detect with X-rays.

I had another appointment today, this time for a pelvic sonogram. I knew that I would have to have a full bladder for the exam, but it wasn't until yesterday that I looked up how much fluid to drink. Thirty-two ounces of water is definitely more water than I typically drink in a given setting, and I was afraid that my bladder would feel uncomfortably full. But thankfully, it was surprisingly easy for me to drink that much water, and my bladder didn't feel that full during the exam. Since the exam was done on my abdomen, I didn't even have to remove any clothing; I only had to lower my skirt and leggings a bit. This time, my sister was in the room with me during the exam and diagnosis, so we were both able to get my diagnosis at the same time. It turned out that I had a polyp and uterine fibroids, which are benign and surprisingly common among female-assigned people. I had a feeling that I either had a hormonal imbalance or strange growths on or in my uterus, and I was right. It was such a relief to find out what was going on in my uterus to cause my irregular periods. I just wish my sister didn't start talking about healthy eating and how I should improve my diet on the way home. I felt that it wasn't relevant to my appointment, and I hate being told to change.

Fertility Doctors In Chennai
Infertility Issues and Assisted Reproductive Technology
Infertility is a label that married people would never like to wear or experience. Infertility is a huge burden, both emotionally and financially. One or two children make up the family. Life without children is very difficult, but having children completes the family. Infertility treatments can be costly for those who start fertility treatments.
Most people don't know that nearly half of all infertility cases are due to male infertility. We often hear of women struggling with fertility problems, but ultimately it is the women who are unable to conceive. In most cases, the problem is with the male partner. If such a situation occurs, you should consult one the best fertility doctors in Chennai.
Fertility Evaluations during the Treatment
If you are infertile and need help getting pregnant, there are fertility treatments that can increase your chances of having a baby. If a woman has had regular unprotected sex with her partner for more than a year and is actively trying to conceive, fertility testing should be considered. Infertility testing should be considered after 1 month.
If a woman is over the age of 35, she should consider having a fertility test 6 months after trying to conceive. A female infertility test helps identify the cause of infertility. This will ensure that this condition is properly treated and maximizes the couple's chances of getting pregnant. To get checked-up with one of the best fertility doctors in Chennai
·         Check for problems such as ovulation and the menstrual cycle
·         Blood tests check hormone levels and ovarian reserve (the number of eggs a woman's ovaries can hold).
·         pelvic examination
·         Minimally invasive procedures such as ultrasound imaging (sonograms) and surgery to investigate structural causes of infertility

·         Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
·         In vitro fertilization (IVF)
·         Natural cycle IVF
·         Donor eggs
·         Surrogacy

The most common types of fertility treatments are:
·         Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) – During ovulation, healthy sperm is collected and introduced directly into the uterus.
·         In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) – Eggs are taken from the ovary and fertilized with sperm in the laboratory before developing into an embryo. The doctor then places the embryo into the uterus.
Treatment Process
During the first visit, a fertility specialist will ask questions about the woman`s health and sexual history. Knowing a patient's medical history is an integral part of how doctors diagnose the causes of infertility. For example, a doctor may find out about a past sexually transmitted infection or infrequent ovulation/menstruation that could be contributing to infertility.
