ford's worldview is straight up delulu sometimes when it comes to things he just really wants to believe and dipper is the crown prince of self-rationalizing into terrible and dangerous decisions. so i feel like both of them could easily talk themselves into like "actually a pedophilic and incestuous relationship is totally fine and good in this case, frankly it's weirder that anyone else would have a problem with it because we're so good and acceptable about this"

Photius, Bibliotheca excerpts, 190.33:
Dionysus was loved by Chiron, from whom he learned chants and dances, the bacchic rites and initiations. The author speaks of the "Taraxippos" of Olympus and of the Myrtilloi, father and son. Neoptolemus the Makiotes was the only one to learn from a certain Aithos, a Delphian, the oracle of Phemonoe. It is of this Aithos that Herodotus says, in the first book of his Histories: "although I know his name I will not quote him".
Excuse me, WHAT?!

Why does everyone hold Zeus to his 'crimes' but not Achillies?
Does no one know of what he did to Trolius? (link to a post that explains it so I don't have to explain)
Or does that ruin the image of poor baby Achilles who was just in love and everyone was so mean to him 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Also why the fuck is only Zeus get this treatment? all gods have committed atrocities except maybe Hestia and if we're talking roman myth then not even Vesta is innocent (Vestal virgins i'm looking at you)
It's mythology, they're meant to reflect society and nature, literally no god (and i mean of all religions here) is wholly good and i am saying this as a pagan.

Deep Love and Connection
Tumblr media
In ancient Greece, love was not bound by gender but by the beauty of the connection between two souls. This culture did not know our modern terms of homosexuality or heterosexuality. Rather, love was experienced as a multifaceted spectrum that could include all people.
Especially in the world of warriors, this freedom of emotional bonding was pronounced. The famous Sacred Band of Thebes consisted of pairs of men of the same age, whose mutual love was considered a source of their strength. Their bonds were not only strategic in nature but also deeply emotional. Such relationships were publicly acknowledged and respected, as they were seen as an expression of the highest virtue and harmony.
In the education of young men, pederasty was a socially recognized form of relationship between an adult man and a male youth in ancient Greece. These relationships often had an educational component and were an important part of the social structure. Peer-aged pairs were also common. It was a world where men could freely express their affection and admiration for one another without the strict labels that later emerged.
The ancient stories of Achilles and Patroclus or of Alexander the Great and Hephaistion offer examples of profound bonds between peer-aged warriors. The martial culture of ancient Greece, where strength and virtue were highly valued, provided fertile ground for the emergence of such deep emotional connections. For a warrior, the companion at his side was not just a fellow combatant in battle but also a partner in life, with whom all joys and sorrows were shared.
In our modern world, where we still struggle for acceptance, these ancient traditions remind us that love in human history has always been complex and boundless. It awakens in us the memory of a time when love was free from prejudice and definitions and celebrated for what it truly is: a deep connection between people.

Of course sociopolitically it makes perfect sense for the writers and narrative to hold Marius accountable for his Crimes but I was a little surprised they did only because since Armand is so much older in the show than in the book I figured Marius was going to take him from the brothel as a young man rather than at 14/15 and then turn him a few years later but instead they kept the initial timeline but then extended their time together when Armand is human from three years to like fifteen years (woof…)
I’m in favor of Anne occasionally rolling in her grave like I’m sure black Louis gave her a scare so I’m not saying this as critique of the show but you know her ghost is pissed that they’re calling out her man Marius like this lmao
