hi diya!!! for your ask game! my favorite fruit is watermelon🍉 but my favorite artificial fruit flavor is peah🍑 !!
Bonjour Tristesse by Françoise Sagan

This book is truly a testament to the brilliance of teenage girls. Such a simple story, but the way Sagan writes is so entrancing. There are moments which feel like a diary, intimate and personal, in a way I think you'd enjoy Love because of your own writing style!
Plus, watermelon and peaches are summery to me, and for all the melancholic themes of the book this is truly a summer novel. It's almost a catalyst for everything that happens, and makes the book feel like a lazy day in the sun even as the plot picks up. Makes you want to pack up and experience a formative summer in the south of France for yourself.
#book rec ask game#one thing i am looking forward to with summer around the corner is watermelon season hehe#i feel like as far as artificial flavors go peach usually tastes the most authentic#but that may just be me

I didn't think I would talk about the Mario movie more than the Bros and their Big Boys. But I need to talk about Peach and some criticisms about her character that are a little misplaced. Basically that Peach was too much of a rough girl boss, and she didn't need anyone in the movie.
The first issue is that Peach wasn't sweet enough in the film. I think people overlooked when she was being sweet cause we didn't have as much downtime with Peach. Peach meets with Mario right after she leaves the war room. For her, this is her first time meeting another human being. Finding out that this stranger needs her help finding someone close to him. She accepts the condition that he proves he can handle the journey cause it will be dangerous. Seeing his tenancy and how well he has improved, she lets him come despite him not getting through the course. If that wasn't enough, she lets Toad come along without much objection cause the guy has conviction. Like it's funny cause Peach was prepared to go by herself cause she didn't think any of her subjects would come along with her, not in negative, toads can't do anything. More in the I am the one responsible for my people's safety, and if I have to do that alone, fine. Clearly, she can take care of herself. This brings us to the other point that people have an issue with. Peach didn't need anyone to save the mushroom kingdom. This one is straight-up wrong. Cause I will be clear, Peach can take herself...but that's the issue. She can save herself, just not her kingdom by herself. Cause people to overlook the fact that Peach is competent. Bowser is just as competent and very much so knows the ins and outs of war and conquest. (He legit just didn't factor how much of an issue Mario could be beyond a love rival) Peach and crew travel to the Kong kingdom to get an army. Bowser has a network of spies who learn and use this information to his advantage. The Kongs were likely one of the few groups with more of a chance against him. So he set up an effective ambush which led to the capture of the Kong royal family and their army. So if the wedding had went without a hitch, he could have had the mushroom kingdom and Kong Kingdom in one fell swoop. Not to mention that Bowser, despite being a love-struck fool, very much so, had SEVERAL backup plans in case Peach said no. She does say fuck no to his face when he asks. When she does, he promises to kill Toad without hesitation if she doesn't marry him. Peach gives in cause what can she do at that point. She catches him by surprise with the ice flower after the fact. He is immobilized but can speak, and he tells his troops to basically nuke the mushroom kingdom. Which btw Banzai Bill caught me off guard; for some reason, I didn't think they were alive alive. Peach is great; she still needs help; Mario helps her get into the army, and Mario takes out that Banzai bill. Heeck, without a toad, she wouldn't have gotten the ice flower.
Now I'm not gonna excuse the movie writing and the poor pacing. Cause that is a thing, and I wish we had more time to explore Peahes' other sides (and everyone else's, for that matter give me more Mario and Luigi having brother bonding pls I need this), what we little we got could have been more.

Tyler laughed for a second "You saying I am a peach" he teased "That's something my grandma would say I think" the only time he heard it. "But its cute" he smiled at her. He laughed a second "Well comes with when you cut up fish for hours to make food, and then caring for the water... and stuff" It did tend to leave you smelling like a fish tank. He made himself a bowl of the popcorn and her one too and brought it over to her and smiled "Here you go" he said with a grin as he sat down next to her. "Peah again" he teased her as he grabbed the remote. "I pulled up mean girls so it should be just ready" he smiled as he let her take the remote to start it it. @harlowhanlon
Halting her movements for a singular moment, her eyes found Tyler, almost surprised to hear his question and pondering for a moment too long on the possibility of it being not that serious. "What do you mean?" Now a smile, slightly nervous around its edges, made its grand appearance, lightening up her features slightly, until- "Ew, Tyler," she said, a genuine emotion of absolute horror and pure disgust took the reigns of her expression. "What are you doing with those poor fish that make you take their smell home with you." She might not actually know how exactly aquariums worked. Trailing his movements with her yes, she leaned back against thick cushions, her own pillow pressed tight against her chest, as she thanked him for fetching her the requested glass of soda with the added bonus of ice cubes. "Obviously." She nodded in agreement, glancing around the room in marvel and subtle envy once more. "Yes, please," she spoke, her gaze following Tyler once more, as she called after him. "You are a peach, Tyler Day!" @tylerxday

The Sleepy Girls X-Mas is a Drag Carol for All Ages in Vancouver
By Kendell Yan
If you haven’t been to a Sleepy Girls Show yet honey, then get those slay bells polished and sissy on down that snow-dusted lane to The Blenheim (Formerly the Displace Hashery) on December 17th because this is one you aren’t going to want to miss.
Since January, Dust (AKA David Cutting) has been hosting The Sleepy Girls Show once a month with a rotating cast of some of Vancouver’s most talented drag performers including Peach Cobblah, Rose Butch, Shay Dior, Misty Meadows, Ilona, Dee Blew, and Maiden China (yours truely). Each episode of the show has a different theme, ranging from “One Hit Wonders!” to “Sleepy Girls Save the World,” the latter being a fully scripted narrative theatre experience.
Sleepy Girls cast photo courtesy of Chase J Hansen
This month, Sleepy Girls will be another scripted show, this time with a holiday twist! “X-MAS: Days of Christmas Past” is a musical romp in the style of A Christmas Carol but with a very queer and comedic spin. The story sets off with Dust retelling a true story about going home to see a problematic family over Christmas, hilarity ensues, there are Christmas ghosts and a medium. Yes, it’s all true. I guarantee it.
Because the venue is an all-ages space, they’ve managed to create an environment that makes space for youth to participate in the drag community, and the stage has seen the debut of many new queens, some of which are still completing their high school education. This is a crucial part of the show. The privilege of creating opportunities for queer youth to express themselves in front of an accepting and encouraging audience is unparalleled and empowers children to grow into their identities on and off stage.
To find out how Dust resolves her family anguish over the holidays, and how ghosts can be the embodiment of holiday hoopla, you’re going to have to come down to the Blenheim on December 17th and enjoy the show! Special guests include Gluttony, Peah Emm, and Anita D, with music by DJ Girl Fieri. Pizzas are half price (bless!) at 8:30, and the show starts at 9:30 for just $ 10!
What: X-Mas: Days of Christmas Past Where: The Blenheim (Formerly the Displace Hashery), 3923 West 4th Ave When: December 17th. Dinner at 8:30pm. Show at 9:30pm. Why: Because the holidays are for musical romps, carb loading, and using makeup to cover up our discomforts and grievances at family affairs.
Kendell Yan (aka Maiden China, Mx Cobalt All Star 2017) is a queer, second-generation POC who navigates the hyphen of mixed ethnicity LGBTQ2+ living in Vancouver. Kendell has a penchant for drag Queens and Kings that borders on obsession, and he favours events that encourage free expression, inclusivity, and love in all flavours.
