Character Spotlight - Boomer

Every now and then, I like focusing on another pup, and now's a good time as any to give some spotlight to our latest villain pup, Boomer!

Naturally, I didn't know what to expect when I first learned about this character. In fact, for the longest time, none of us had any idea if he was even going to be a pup. It took many months to get our first glimpse at him, which was through a toy found on a UK website. Said merchandise, however, didn't look so flattering, and so many of us were really hoping he'd look much better in the cartoon.

Once I finally got a chance to watch some Rescue Wheels episodes, I found myself really liking the character. Much like Claw, I quickly became a fan! Indeed, I'm happy to say his cartoon model turned out much better than his toy, and truth be told, I think he looks really, really cool! And despite being a baddie, I felt Boomer had plenty of charm to him, too. He even managed to get some genuine laughs out of me, which I certainly didn't expect. Even his little mischievous chuckle gave the character plenty more likeability. There's just so much about Boomer that I either like or really like!

Compared to the other pup introduced in Rescue Wheels, I personally found him to be a lot better than the newcomer to the team, Roxi. This is just my opinion, and I mean no disrespect to anyone who likes her... but there's just not a whole lot about Roxi that I find to be enjoyable. In fact, she's basically what you'd expect from a kid's cartoon that often tries to play things so safe with characters like her. She's always so happy-go-lucky, everyone unabashedly loves her, and of course, she's perfect or near-perfect as possible. She even played some Pup Pup Boogie with the pups at the Lookout, and of course, the cartoon couldn't resist telling us how amazing she was at it... despite that being her first time playing it. I had a conversation with someone over on Twitter/X about this very thing, and we both agreed that a perfect character is a boring character. And to me, that's Roxi to a T.

And while a lack of perfection is expected from a villain, especially one from a cartoon like PAW Patrol, it's his flaws that, to me, make him far more interesting than the often-so-perfect Roxi. He's a skilled monster trucker who's good at what he does, but his imperfections can often lead to some interesting scenarios, which in turn make him a lot more entertaining to watch. It's one of the many reasons I find Marshall so appealing, compared to the other pups on the team (especially nowadays). Imperfections, to me, can make a character a lot more interesting and, at times, fun.

And in my opinion, Boomer's indeed a fun and interesting addition to PAW Patrol. He easily became a highlight to me... not just of Rescue Wheels, but season 10, in general! I'm legit a fan of the character, and I even put him in my top ten list!

And it's sad knowing that, at this point, I may never see him again. I know Rescue Wheels hasn't premiered in the United States yet, so many of my followers haven't seen much of him at all at this point. However, all six missions have aired in both Canada and the UK, and I've seen them now, so for me, Rescue Wheels is over. Unlike Roxi, who has a chance to show up if we get another episode akin to All Paws on Deck, we likely won't see Boomer again unless we go back to Rescue Wheels... and how likely is THAT to happen? I'm still waiting for the cartoon to give us another Rescue Knights mission so I can find out what Claw's up to. It's been a few years now, and I'm still waiting.

At this point, all I can do is hope Boomer will pull a Sid and Arrby and show up in episodes that don't involve Rescue Wheels. Will he? It's anyone's guess right now. I'd like to think he will, but it's been forever since we've seen other villains, such as The Copycat and Ladybird. Will Boomer disappear along with them, too? I certainly hope not.

As always, I've no idea what the future will hold, so who knows if we'll see Boomer again at some point down the road. Whatever happens, I'll certainly remember the pup. Here's to you, Boomer; you're pretty great in my eyes, and you'll always be my favorite monster trucker. If I could, I'd get that selfie with you in a heartbeat!

Monster Trucker Roxi

Tuesday artwork (23/7/2024) : Roxi

As promised from the previous artwork call Monster Trucker Boomer , I added her from Paw Patrol series in my artwork TV collection (Art storage) . This is from the Rescue Wheel sub-series .

I have finished drawing Roxi which is the most difficult artwork to color (Also known as the pain in my brain) because I don't have the same color for her “ hairstyle ” (So hard , shame on me) .

I wanted to try drawing her without her helmet and monster trucker outfit , it took me 1 hour to refer to the image because I had gone kinda crazy (Not too crazy) .

My first time drawing Roxi and I don't have the same colour (Drawing Boomer is easier than Roxi) .

i have a 3 year old niece-in-law who loves paw patrol so i've had to sit through. a decent amount of episodes. and i know WHY paw patrol is so popular with kids (cute animals and bright colors) but it's so soulless. some of the VAs put so little emotion into it, especially the main character, and the animation is really stiff. turns me into a boomer tbh like back in my day cartoons had EFFORT put into them.

Suurmox appears, at the request of Nai’molik, who was too busy playing with a cat and lying on the ground nearby with it to answer this question.

Suurmox seems tense and a bit awkward, unsure if he’d really like to speak to you, but does so anyways.

“We are free to use what we please. Though we have a habit of falling into pattern. Familiarity brings joy with it. I like to stick to void, and for the most part, Nai’molik stays upon her thunder. But Kurtur is the one who experiments the most, and with his successes come troubles.” His voice is surprisingly deep, though still had a youthful edge to it.

He can remember the first time Kurtur played with void. The two of them had been patrolling, and the hunter had been forming a hive boomer at his fingertips as opposed to the bow he’d seen other acolytes bear. He thought it a good idea to form light into new shapes. It worked, and he shot a nearby scorn with a heavy bolt of void. Yet, the bolt stuck to the ground, and grew, pulsating like a tumor, before exploding. It killed the both of them, and their ghosts brought them both back with a lecture.

Yet Kurtur only laughed, and said he’d have to work out the kinks. That there was potential to it. He did not agree, but when he introduced it to Nai’molik, she had been thrilled at such a prospect. She was too kind, too lenient, he thought. Yet, he too enjoyed that kindness, and could not bring himself to try and argue with them. No matter.

“Is that answer sufficient?”

He turned to Nai’molik. She looks at him, having been distracted by the cat that stood on her chest, gently pawing at her face.

“Hm? Oh, yes, I think that is quite fine.”

I think the funniesy thing to me right now is people taking the paw patrol jokes from 2018 seriously and painting a narrative to try to diminish and undervalue black voices. The jokes were made to deal with trauma in a coping manner that was funny, and then conservatives and boomers came along and were like ... this is serious ... omg.

Like no, that's a narrative driven to undermine the serious gravitas of the situation that is police brutality. Goodbye.

P.s. if yall rlly be concerned about ur kids, maybe dont let them google the characters on that show bc sickos b makimg porn of the characters and a majority of parents rlly let their kids play on their phones withour safe search on. On This Day in PAW Patrol: November 20

Don't you feel like it's getting colder here, or is it me? Because on this day in 2014, the whole of Adventure Bay's road has been slippery and slick in today's episode. It's a nice time to slide for some people, but not when you're in a vehicle. The ice managed to stuck Mayor Goodway and Chickaletta in a car accident, and also pieces of branches and some snow pile blocked the train track. The pups must act fast and carefully in order to save the day. In another segment, Mayor Goodway challenged Mayor Humdinger for a basketball game, without knowing that Adventure Bay has no basketball team. Coincidentally, the pups have been training, and they settled in for a match against Foggy Bottom's "Boomers". A foul play that caused both Rocky and Zuma to be taken out from the game forced Marshall to jump into the match, despite how bad he thought he is in the game.

What'd be your wish if you ever found a genie in the lamp? Today in 2015, Rubble sure had some when he found one. One of them would be bathing in warm bubbly water and the Genie made that wish come true. However, it was a matter of time before his own wish backfired... kinda. But hey, is it even real, or did Rubble eat a lot of snack before sleeping again? Who knows! In the other segment, Francois shows his tightrope walking skills. Things went smooth until he faced some trouble with his balance stick thanks to some seagulls. It's up for PAW Patrol to keep him balanced, or at least catch him before he falls.

Pups and the Big Freeze, Pups Save the Basketball Game, Pups Find a Genie, and Pups Save a Tightrope Walker premiered today in the US.

And of course, today in 2020, Mayor Humdinger is being naughty this Christmas Eve. US fans, catch Pups Save a Bah-Humdinger today!

New Marshall Pics! (Season 11, Ep.02)

Again, these episodes appeared early about a month ago over in the UK, so some of you might have already seen these. I decided to hold off until it popped up on TV, and my wait finally ended today!

The first segment - "Rescue Wheels: Pups Save the Risky Race"

I'm not going to lie - I did not like the last episode, whatsoever. Today, however... I thought both segments were pretty fun! This one involved Boomer and Roxi racing to the top of a snowy mountain, although one was racing more than the other, of course. There was some cute moments at the start, particularly a belly-sliding Marshall, and the mission gave everyone something to do, which was nice to see (even if what some of them did felt a bit forced). Boomer was rather entertaining, as always, so there's that, too. Overall, I enjoyed it!

And the second segment: "Rescue Wheels - Pups Save the Runaway Truck"

Easily the best of the two segments, and arguably one of the best episodes to come out of PAW Patrol in a long time. Seriously, I actually found myself chuckling a few times in this one! Boomer really stole the show and was easily the biggest highlight here, which once again makes it such a shame that this might be the last time we see him. The mission itself was fun, and it even gave me my dream team again (Chase and Marshall), even if it was brief. Overall, the whole thing was a lot of fun! I heard a comedian wrote this episode, and goodness me, I hope he writes for the show again!

That's all for now! We've got another new episode coming next week, although it's a regular episode this time. Some fans believe this is when the cartoon will switch over to the new animation style. There's no confirmation on this yet, but... who knows, maybe my next batch of pics will be Marshall with his new look! I certainly hope so! Guess we'll find out soon!

It’s definitely interesting! Roxi tends to make a lot of puns and she’s kinda always happy while Boomer seems to only be happy when people are cheering for him and is willing to dangerous stunts that put him, his ferret, and people in danger

Makes sense, as it's not like they follow some kind of plot sequence anyway XD only for a few things - I'm still surprised that by the beginning of the series the town had a blackout and the Lookout was shut down without energy, but then waaaaaay ahead on some other season there was a blackout again and this time the Lookout was fine and Rocky pointed out it had been a great idea to install their own emergency power generators since back then. Talk about continuity!

If I decide to wait for Brazilian Paramount+ to upload new episodes I might as well set up a tent for camping to wait comfortably because they just won't do that LMAO last update we had here was just adding the specials. I'm going for other sources to keep watching too.

I think I'll like Roxi! I like puns. As I'll watch in English first (again, who knows when these episodes will ever be dubbed here), I'll probably get to learn new puns XD Boomer sounds a bit like Moby... I like Moby, guess I'll like Boomer too! Aaaaaaaa can't wait to get there in the show!!

Could we get more headcanons on the clans from you? Like if each one has their own tradition, myths, apprentice tests, or anything else?

Hmmm. I’ll try and dump some, lol - my headcanons fluctuate and change but I really do like the Clan focus headcanons I came up with yesterday so here’s some stuff to go along with that. Not every Clan has an equal amount of headcanons since… there’s five of them, lol; it’s hard at times to come up with distinct stuff.

This is very long! I am sorry!

WindClan

They chart the stars! WindClan cats have named constellations and have their own personal “zodiac”, believing cats born under certain stars will behave as those stars command.

WindClan boasts a great number of significant ancient cats - Moth Wing, Gray Wing, Windstar, etc - so they take great pride in their faith and history! They see the moor as the birthplace of the Clans, and WindClan as the first real Clan (SkyClan disagrees, lol). To them, Gray Wing was the first cat to walk Silverpelt, and may be Silverpelt itself.

WindClan cats are the closest to the Tribe in their traditions - they carry over the casting of stones and the sharing of prey, along with always having a sharp-eyed Clanmate in a patrol to keep an eye out for hawks.

They value sight! A cat’s ability to see great distances is key in WindClan, and its part of a cat’s warrior assessment to pick out and describe objects that are far away (shown in Tallstar’s Revenge).

WindClan cats sleep under the stars in all but the worst weather - their camp is very small and open. It’s said that Shattered Ice, the first tunneler, connected all the tunnels underneath WindClan’s camp in order to keep cats warm in leaf-bare - all that remains now are the very beginnings of those tunnels, which serve as the WindClan cats’ dens.

Though tunneling is outlawed, some young WindClan cats, full of elder’s stories, sometimes venture into the old tunnels, claiming to hear a voice calling to them. Sometimes they are never heard from again. This still occurs by the lake, and Jayfeather of ThunderClan suspects that it is Rock, calling for young cats to prove themselves.

I base WindClan cats off of long-legged, lean breeds - most notably Oriental Shorthairs. They have an “otherworldly” beauty to them.

RiverClan

It’s said that drowning under ice traps a spirit under the water for eternity. Queens tell kits not to wander near the river before they’re too old to swim or else one of these water-lost cats will drag them under. It’s likely just a cautionary story, but who knows?

RiverClan cats know the most about herb-lore and caring for plants. Living so close to the river makes it easy for RiverClan medicine cats to grow their own gardens, and plants grow lush in their soil. RiverClan medicine cats brought the idea of gardens to other Clans, but the method only really worked well in ThunderClan, whose soil conditions were similar to RiverClan’s.

RiverClan cats collect stones and shells and things that wash up from the river. They decorate their nests, but most importantly, RiverClan cats give these items as gifts to good friends or mates in order to help seal their bond.

RiverClan carries over the casting of stones from the Tribe, though its only used in dire straits. RiverClan has only one set of casting stones, said to have been chosen by Gray Wing and Riverstar themselves.

RiverClan cats, valuing knowledge, are always quite curious. It tends to get them into trouble - more RiverClan cats tends to get carried away by Twolegs than even ThunderClanners; but who’s to say they hadn’t wanted to go, just to see what it was like?

RiverClan apprentices usually compete in swimming competitions in newleaf and greenleaf, and the winner always gets the fattest fish on the fresh-kill pile.

Being overweight in RiverClan is not seen as a bad thing, especially in winter, when the cats don’t swim for fear of catching cold (and drowning). RiverClan cats tend to huddle around the fattest of their number in order to keep warm in the leaf-bare, and they pack their dens with snow in order to trap heat even further.

RiverClan cats are large and thick, mainly Maine Coons but there are Ragdolls and Ragamuffins in there as well. They are considered the most attractive of all the Clan cats.

ShadowClan

ShadowClan cats love to pick fights, especially young ones. They’ll often argue over borders for only the pure pleasure of the argument, much to the annoyance of the other Clans. An antsy ShadowClan cat is very easy to whip into a fighting frenzy. ShadowClan apprentices do not become warriors until they can fend off two warriors at once.

Scars are hugely honored in ShadowClan! Cats with the most scars have seen the most fights, and survived to fight on. An apprentice with a very scarred mentor is almost always looked at to be the best fighter in that generation of apprentices.

ShadowClan cats don’t have webbed paws, but they do have the widest paws of all the Clan cats - which makes it easy not to sink in their boggy territory.

Cats often fight one another over the last scraps of prey - the only exceptions are the elders, queens, kits, and medicine cats. To the winner goes the spoils! It’s not uncommon to see even the best of friends quarrel over prey, only to share it when all’s said and done.

Mates will often battle one another to keep themselves sharp. It’s a romantic sort of thing that none of the other Clans understand at all. Sometimes courtship even involves the two potential mates fighting one another - it’s always in good fun, and many ShadowClan cats know exactly which scars came from their mates.

ShadowClan cats are often considered the “ugliest” of the Clan cats, especially by WindClan and ThunderClan. Their long, protruding fangs don’t help.  They are also the most isolated Clan besides SkyClan, sharing no borders with any other Clan. Their humor is crass and mean where other Clans are concerned, and their attitudes hardly endear them to others, meaning that not many other Clans have ShadowClan blood.

ShadowClan’s very nature makes it susceptible to rebellion. ShadowClan leaders have to be strong-willed in order to control their boisterous Clanmates.

WindClan legends state that Shadowstar was a brutish fighter like all other ShadowClan cats - that she was banished beyond the Thunderpath to keep the other Clans safe from ShadowClan’s brutal nature. ShadowClan cats, however, believe that Shadowstar just thought the other Clans were nosy and annoying.

Like SkyClan and RiverClan, ShadowClan does occasionally pick up outsiders from Twolegplace to bolster their ranks.

ShadowClan cats invented pawspeak - mostly as a means to silently plan ambushes or their night-hunting, but it has evolved into an aid for deaf cats of all Clans.

ShadowClan medicine cats are trained as warriors alongside their medicine cat training. They’re not trained as extensively as a warrior would be, but they keep their skills sharp.

ShadowClan cats are short, with wide paws and faces, and nearly all boast flattened muzzles - I base them off of British Shorthairs and Persian-style cats.

ThunderClan

ThunderClan apprentices don’t earn their warrior names until they prove their hunting prowess. Some notable cats back in the day earned their warrior names by hunting the adders at Snakerocks, a practice which was stopped by an old leader, as it lead to many kittens losing their lives.

ThunderClan cats value warrior blood - it was extremely taboo to take mates from outside the Clans. Cats with parents from two Clans at least had two Clanborn parents! This idea slowly faded with time, and Firestar helped eliminate it completely.

Often, when two cats go hunting alone together, it’s assumed they’re courting, or very good friends. It’s not uncommon to be teased for only asking one warrior to come hunting!

RiverClan might have the knowledge and the fertile soil, but ThunderClan boasts the widest variety of herbs on their land.

ThunderClan cats have the deepest respect for their elders, and the stories that they tell. ThunderClan elders often come up with epic Aesop stories to keep the apprentices in line! They’re one of the few Clans that speak of the Dark Forest.

ThunderClan often has the largest population of all the Clans - this is often tested in leaf-bare, however. ThunderClan always has cases of greencough that thins their numbers. 

ThunderClan cats are various short-haired breeds, but Maine Coons can sneak their way in. They are considered conventionally attractive.

ThunderClan, for some reason, is proving really hard to create headcanons for? Maybe it’s because they’re so oversaturated and fleshed out in the main series, idk.

SkyClan (old and modern)

Thanks to SkyClan’s isolation in both eras, their humor is nearly indecipherable. Think boomers trying to understand millennial or gen-z humor. The other Clans have given up at this point.

Old SkyClan kept to themselves, thus a lot of their traditions were unknown - however, other Clans often reported seeing lone apprentices wandering the woods, looking hungry and tired. They’d be seen again with their warrior names at the next Gathering. SkyClan apprentices would often spend days out alone in the forest - no warrior or other member of SkyClan were allowed to interact with them.

Though ShadowClan loved battles, no Clan was more fierce in defending their borders than SkyClan - SkyClan borders were almost always fully closed to the other Clans, unless medicine cats got involved. It made SkyClan seem selfish and a nightmare to deal with, so most Clans didn’t bother asking for favors. This lead to the lack of favor that put SkyClan out of their territory when the Twolegs came.

Modern SkyClan is not so isolated - but they do have a hard time adjusting to so many cats.

Modern SkyClan’s warrior assessment is nowhere near as harsh as the old SkyClan’s - their apprentices only spend a full day and night out alone in the forest, and all apprentices of their generation can work together if they choose.

Modern SkyClan celebrates family - newborn kits are always worthy of a celebrations and feasting. Modern SkyClan leaders never fail to greet new kits.

Loners, rogues, and kittypets who join SkyClan nowadays are assigned “kin” to help them in their transitional period. These “kin” act like littermates or even parents, and ensure the new cats are acclimated. More often than not these “kin” become just as good as blood kin to these new cats.

Modern SkyClan families remain constantly close. Alongside warriors and apprentice’s dens, SkyClan has family dens - dens that families create with one another and live in. It’s not uncommon for apprentices to stay in a family den with their parents until they become warriors.

Old SkyClan’s isolation made the prone to inbreeding - to combat this, SkyClan cats would recruit kittypets, loners, or rogues from Twolegplace into their Clan. This practice made SkyClan even more alien to the other Clans and widened the gulf between them.

Like ShadowClan, SkyClan medicine cats were often trained as warriors as well, in order to help better heal and defend their Clan. It was one of the few things SkyClan had in common with ShadowClan.

SkyClan cats have the distinctive trait of back legs that are longer than their front legs. This trait has lessened over time, but some modern SkyClan cats do boast slightly longer back legs. They are often always short-haired breeds. There were hardly long-haired SkyClan cats, but now they’re starting to crop up.

i am ageless.

i don't feel old - my joints never ache, i've never had memory problems - but i don't feel young either - i hate cartoons and can't stand the food on restaurant kid's menus! for these reasons, i know that i do not have an age at all.

categorizing me into an age group is restrictive, oppressive, and may lead me to kms. don't be an aerf!

please don't even mention age-related stuff near me, or i will cry! this includes baby formula, children's sections at clothing stores, pimples, anger, sleepiness, boggle, paw patrol, bingo nights, nursing homes, sweaters, birth certificates, the name deborah, colorful pajamas, and arthritis.

at family gatherings, i've never liked hanging out with my grandma or my younger cousins. this leads me to believe that i never truly had an age (although i do have a Coercively Assigned Age). and please, you must never lump me in with anyone who identifies as having an age.

every child knows that they are young because they like baby shark and bedtime stories. every millennial knows they are an adult because they looooove avocado toast and have no responsibilities. every boomer knows they're old as hell because they're bigoted fox-viewers. i, however, defy these stereotypes by creating a new set of stereotypes.
