Finding out

Cara was pacing outside the Hilltop Doctor's office, she had taken a test because she was a month late on her period. Jesus came up slowly looking worried and unkempt.

"Everything alright?" He asked as he stopped in front of her. Cara looked up surprised at her best friend's voice. There was fear and concern written all over her face. "Lee... What's goin' on?" He asked, placing gentle hands on her shoulders and looking deeply into her eyes.

"I'm-- I'm a month late... I might be--" Her voice caught in her throat, Daryl and her had never talked about kids; true he was great with her baby sister Judith but with his own kids...

Jesus slowly started to smile, "You're pregnant? Lee! That's amazing!" He said, pulling her into a hug. "Why the hell do you look so down?" He asked looking down at her. Cara shook her head slowly;

"D and I never talked about having kids... I mean... He was amazing with Judith was born but.. he could give her back" She said slowly, chuckling nervously. Jesus shook his head;

"I've said it before and I'll say it again... that man is devoted to you girly, He'd do anything for you!" Jesus said, "I've seen him with Judith, he'll be an amazing father" He said smiling.

The doctor came out of the trailer smiling slightly, "Congratulations Cara" He said, glancing up at Jesus before looking back at Cara. "You're pregnant" Caralee's knees became weak as she fell forwards, Jesus caught her instantly. "I don't--"

"She's just nervous on how Daryl is gonna take it is all" He said smiling, "I'll get her home" He said picking her up and getting her on his horse before climbing up himself.

~~Later that night~~

Cara waited nervously on the couch in the house that she shared with Daryl, she had sent Jesus home; Cara knew that Daryl would have been upset if he found out that Jesus had found out first. She slowly played with her robe as she heard Daryl's boots on the front porch. She looked up at him as he walked through the door, Daryl stopped short.

"What's wrong Sunshine... you look like you've been sick" He asked quickly going over to her and sitting down next to her on the couch. Cara shook her head, she had been sick but she needed to get this out first.

"I went to Hilltop today.. to see the doctor" She said slowly, Daryl's eyes went immediately to concern.

"What happened Sun--" Cara placed a finger over his lips, Daryl rolled his eyes but went quiet.

"I had to get a test done" She said slowly, "I mean.. I'm a month late and needed to know for sure" She said biting her lip as she looked up at him. Daryl's eyes went as wide as saucers.

t"You sure you're pregnant, Sunshine?" He asked slowly, leaning down close to her. Cara nodded slowly biting her lip harder, not knowing why he was acting so weird. Daryl shot up off the couch before grabbing her in his arms and twirling her around. "I'm gonna be a daddy?!" He asked as he smiled happily, leaning down so his forehead touched hers.

"Yeah D, you're gonna be a daddy" She said smiling slightly. Daryl put her down slowly before kneeling down and placing both of his hands on her stomach.

"Hey baby, I'm your daddy" He whispered against her stomach, "And your Momma and I already love you so very much" He told her belly. "I can't wait to meet you"

Cara smiled broadly as she played with his long hair as he continued to talk to her belly. "You... You're really happy?" She asked him, Daryl looked up at her before standing up.

"Sunshine, ever since Judith was born I've been wanting to talk to you about having kids... but I didn't know how you felt about it... about bringing kids into this world... but of course I'm happy baby girl... We're starting a family... we're going to be parents!"

The Best Friend Fiasco

Caralee had been spending a lot of time at Hilltop, spending time with Paul Rovia, aka Jesus. With Daryl doing responsible things with her father Cara had become friends with Jesus. Best friends. Whenever Daryl would see Cara and Jesus together, they were laughing and carrying on. Jesus was closer to Cara's age and Daryl felt as if she was replacing him with someone more her age. The way Daryl would see Jesus looking at Cara he hated it. His jealousy and anger was always getting the best of him now.

"You're amazing" Jesus chuckled as Cara walked with him after killing a couple walkers. "I mean damn girl, four walkers at once? I can barely do that" He said as he walked her back to Alexandria; He smiled down at her. "Daryl must be proud" He told her, Cara smiled softly.

"Don't know about that... he's been very distant lately" She said looking down. "I don't know why" She said pulling her hair over her shoulder. "It's almost as if he has found someone else" Jesus shook his head.

"There's no way.. that man is devoted to you" He said gently, throwing an arm around her shoulder as they walked through the Alexandria gate. Cara saw the man she loved walking down the street and smiled at him slowly.

Daryl stopped in his tracks glaring at the two as they walked, he was pissed. Seeing Jesus with his arm around HIS girl. Cara stopped for a moment before being pulled along by Jesus. "Come on Lee, I wouldn't be much of a gentleman if I didn't see you to your door" He laughed, he hadn't noticed Daryl's glaring.

~~Home~~

Cara was in the kitchen making dinner when she heard the front door open and get kicked shut. Cara flinched slightly, "Redneck? That you?" She asked slowly as the footsteps stopped on the stairs.

"Goin' to bed" He said gruffly, "Got an early run tomorrow" He started back up the stairs again.

"Daryl Dixon!" She yelled from the bottom of the stairs, "I've been making dinner and for the past month, you have been avoiding and ignoring me for the past month now get your ass to the kitchen and sit down at the damned table!" Daryl turned around on the steps glaring at her.

"Don't you dare raise your voice at me little girl" He growled at her. Cara glared right back at him.

"I'll do whatever I want until you get your yellow bellied ass into that kitchen and fucking talk to me" She growled back, before taking a step back as he appeared in front of her.

"Call me that again" He growled, She stared up at him.

"Get your.. yellow... bellied... ass.. to.. the.. fucking.. Kitchen" She growled back accenting every word. Daryl growled pushing past her and walking to the kitchen. Cara followed him, pulling the food out of the stove. It was Daryl's favorite meal, he stopped short when he saw it. She leaned against the island in the middle of the kitchen.

She crossed her arms and glanced back at him. "So are you gonna tell me what your damned problem is?" She asked him as she looked him up and down. "For the past month you've been acting like you don't want me.. what did you find another girl to save and fuck?" Daryl glared at her as she spoke the last sentence.

"I could ask you the same question, miss high and mighty" He yelled, walking up to the point that they were almost touching. "Spending all that time with Jesus... he nearly killed me a couple a months back... me and your dad.. and yet there you were with his arm around you" He growled, taking a couple of steps back and throwing the plates off the island. "I mean I bet you're fuckin' him aren't ya? Cuz He's closer to your age and can give ya more then I can" He growled not looking at her. Cara tried to stop herself from laughing, Daryl wheeled around to look at her. "What? Think I'm stupid cuz it took me this damned long to see it?"

Cara shook her head as she stopped herself from laughing after a moment. "Not at all, not at all... Daryl there's nothin' going on between me and Paul... He's gay anyway" She said laughing, Daryl's eyes went to the size of saucers.

"He's... what?" He stopped, anger and jealousy falling from his face almost immediately as he watched her. "So.. you... aren't leaving me for him..." Cara laughed again as she shook her head;

"Of course not... He's my best friend... I mean Glen is so busy with Maggie and Paul and I have so much in common that I just thought I could spend some time with him" She said chuckling, "Is that what all this was about? You sleepin' on the couch? You bein' short with me?" Daryl grumbled as he nodded slowly. "Daryl... As I told you when we made love for the first time, I don't care that you're older then me.. I don't want anyone else" She told him, walking back over to him. "I won't ever find anyone better then you, Redneck" She said, leaning up and kissing him passionately.

Daryl pulled her tightly against him, kissing her just as passionately.
