Paul & Phil Gayter
Identical twins Paul and Phil explore the relationship between twins and 'creation'. Through the use of multi-media the brothers explored the notion of "creating in a vacuum" of each other. The process began with a 16x20 inch canvas that is then split in half and painted by each twin "blind," meaning they are created without knowledge of the other's finished half. The result is an eclectic set of paintings, furniture and installations which show an innate connectivity in color and ideas, ultimately demonstrating the beauty of being a twin.
I was initially inspired by the idea of creating work that explored the connection between twins and the psychology behind any similarities/differences shared among twins. This subject comes from a similar themes explored within Creative Project. Having my twin sister recently move to London has been a difficult adjustment within my life and continuing with this theme allows me to gain greater knowledge and understanding about being a twin and helping myself to deal with the on-going events in my life.
