LIFE AFTER BETH (2014)

Cute, quirky, and fun little horror comedy. Low-key a more star studded version of Burying the Ex with a better story… Seriously everywhere you turned was a recognizable actor. Not the strongest movie but sweet in some places and you can tell they were earnest in making it.

Zach is just a normal dude who unfortunately loses his girlfriend to a snakebite. Oh my goodness, the boyfriend maintains a healthy relationship with his girlfriend's parents after she passes away? This is so wholesome I’m going to begin weeping. I came here for horror dammit! Anyway the wholesomeness doesn’t last long because the girlfriend's folks start to ice Zach out for some reason and he doesn’t know why. He looks in their window and sees Beth! Did they play a terrible prank on him? No, she sort of came back to life! Wack! But she doesn’t remember. Oh, silly Beth. She also loves the attic now and dirt but don’t worry about that, it’s still our Bethy!

Zach is happy she is alive and she is also super horny and they are super horny in front of the parents which is just pretty gross, I think it’s supposed to be funny or awkward but I think it was just weird. Either way Zach was about it and so was Beth but she was also starting to get visible damage to her body that wasn’t healing. Zach wants to tell Beth that she died but her folks don’t want her to know that. She and Zach sneak out and have a date at night by the beach but she hates his music and flips out for no reason other than the whole being dead part of her personality. There was also an incident where he accidentally runs over Beth with his car and that was totally reason for explaining to her what's going on but she only wanted to know because he met with another girl. (Wack.)

Now Beth knows she is dead but also alive so probably a Z word and she is not being very cool about it and her dad wants Zach to do something about it but what the hell is he gonna do? He comes over to try to help but she ends up eating a guy. “What do you want from me, Zach, I’m a fucking zombie. Zombies eat guys!” Her dad ends up hauling her away and she ends up accidentally eating him (woops). Beth's Mom is found with Beth and Zach takes Beth from her, she is bungee corded and stabbed to an oven but when Beth sees Zach she stands up and takes it on the hike. There is just enough Beth left in her to tell Zach she loved him before he ended her. And then we watched Aubrey Plaza's body attached to an oven tumbling down a mountain. It was wack as hell. Also all the other living dead that had come back to life (because there had been others) had been mostly dealt with by this point so things were pretty good now and Zach pretty much already had another girlfriend and was happy, so, hooray!

Aliens will be released on 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray and Digital) on March 12 via 20th Century Studios. The 1986 sci-fi/horror/action film is the first sequel to 1979's Alien.

James Cameron writes and directs. Sigourney Weaver stars with Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, Carrie Henn, Bill Paxton, William Hope, Ricco Ross, Al Matthews, and Jenette Goldstein.
