What's circled in blue is the seal of Australia, easily recognizable by the kangaroo and emu:

Which means that that is, presumably, an Australian passport. But WHOSE Australian passport? Scott wasn't part of the X-Men during the Outback Era, and even if he had been, he wouldn't have been an Australian citizen.

Am I missing something or is this totally baffling??

Thinking about lance being cuban, specifically that one line about missing varadero beach. Does his family live there? Is he on an international scholarship to the garrison (like some other characters)? Does he live in america, but grew up there? Does he visit? Can he visit? I wonder if they live in florida. I wonder if he misses the weather, even though the southwest desert is warm, its not the same kind of warm. Is he still fluent in spanish or has he lost it over the years? What's behind him having an american last name like mcclain? I have so many questions

After my qualitative methods class today I'm just increasingly convinced that the boundaries between qualitative and quantitative methods are blurry to nonexistent. I'm not saying that some approaches aren't one thing or the other but literally none of the differentiating aspects listed can be said to only apply to one method or the other. I just think we'd be better off considering how to make sense of our results rather than making statements about how qualitative researchers make conscious choices that produce their results as if quantitative researchers don't literally also do that.

Anyway, I continue to be very interested in the ways that we convey authority in our research work, whether through methodological rigor, the appearance of methodological rigor, or some other way entirely.
