avan jogia / they/them/any ——— no way is that RIVER PATEL.. they’re a 30-year-old HUMAN notoriously known for being INDULGENT & NEEDY but there are some people who have seen them being AFFECTIONATE & ENTERTAINING. if you ask me, they remind me a lot of waxing poetics in everyday conversation, a crystal for every occasion, bohemian but make it sexier, draping over people and furniture like a cat demanding attention, and a rainbow of chaos, but that could just be because they’re considered the SEER around town. just keep an eye on them & see if their true colors shine through..

BIOGRAPHY.
tw: addiction, death, overdose, abuse, chronic illness
born in new orleans, to two loving and hardworking parents. they lived in the lower ninth ward, in a small two bedroom home. money wasn’t abundant, but there was enough to give them everything they needed.
river was born with type one diabetes and has required insulin to function properly from the start.
their father, worked as a street musician and helped their mother at the metaphysical shop she owned. along with the shop, luna was a well known wiccan and head of one of the many local covens.
with the global environment declining over the years, tropical storm season had become even more dangerous. one particular hurricane hit the city and the big easy didn't stand a chance. over half the city was affected, the lower income areas the worst. hundreds died and among them were river's parents.
they were pushed into the system, foster families that were near capacity with displaced children. river couldn't stand it. hated the clothes they put them in, the way the tried to bring them to church, bringing them to therapy, throwing away their crystals and trying to cut their hair. it didn't take long until they'd run away.
at twelve years old, they were on their own. bouncing from family friend to family friend until their best friend's family got word and took them in as one of their own.
they appreciated everything that family did for them and the strong bond they had with their friend, it was more than they could've asked for. being accepted for who they were and loved made all the difference in helping them survive their teen years.
at the age of seventeen, they decided to get their ged and river said the hardest goodbyes to new orleans and their second hom when they left to go travel the country.
on their own and in their travels, many things were learned. one being how to survive off nothing, as they struggled to find any kind of work. river was not very reliable when it came to day jobs and set schedules, though they attempted to adapt.
the biggest struggle was this constant feeling of emptiness along with rotating periods of random moods that would sometimes come about for no reason at all. it had been there since losing their family and most of the time they just rode it out. in the worst times they turned to substances for help, as they’d done in the past. this lead them down a spiral of abusive relationships, bad run ins with dealers and law enforcement, shady work to keep afloat, etc.
away from home and lacking inhibition, they ended up becoming a garbage disposal for the many options of drugs available in america's underground; using them to fill a void they couldn’t close no matter how hard they tried until it almost killed them.
which is exactly what happened, they ended up overdosing in an all-night diner's bathroom and when they woke up they were in a hospital room with no clue what had happened. it gave them a wake up call for sure, and it was decided that they needed to start over.
after a couple years and many failures, river managed to hitch a ride as far as texas. they had a good feeling about dallas and updated those in new orleans where they were. that was when they were told of the trust money their parents left behind for river to be given to them when they reached the age of twenty-five.
the temptation was there to blow the money on more travels and parties but it was quickly squashed. it was an obvious sign from the stars and they decided to go all in on a new venture, opening up a shop with a close friend called the broom closet.
the new distractions did not shake the vices they picked up on the road but they certainly slowed them down. they are trying their best to kick their many bad habits so that one day they will thrive in the world again.
beyond that they used their natural knack for seduction and flirtatious nature to make money for the shop and meet new people by dancing at the kit-kat club. determined something would come of their life someday.
when they aren’t working at either of their jobs, they can be found writing lyrics or poetry, dancing, partying, or sneaking out of the home of one of their many casual romantic encounters. river is excited for the future and whatever the new start would bring for them in this cyber metropolis.
HEADCANONS.
river has type one diabetes and has a pump to regulate it better. it’s important they are able to see a medical professional regularly. they also wear a medical alert bracelet with this information.
they despise sleeping alone, whether it be from having people around them in close quarters for most of their life or just the loathing of being alone in general, they tend to stick close to people if they can sleep at all.
comparable to a cat they can sleep anywhere and will curl up or drape themselves over people for affection.
they wear their heart on their sleeve and fall in love quite easy, unfortunately their over devotion and wandering eyes have made it difficult to hold any long term relationship except with one person who has always understood the amount of love they have and just because they love someone it does not mean they love another any less.
river has a long history of casual relationships and having a select few they are fully committed to exclusively, however they develop deep feelings for people easily and adore them long after any romance leaves. they are very open with their sexuality and the love of the human body. river has often used casual sex as another coping mechanism and occasional self-destructive tendency.
they love dancing, parties, poetry, and music - they also adore talking to people and will be happy to introduce themselves to anyone and everyone
music has always had a strong place in their life, though they've never had the desire to pursue it professionally. they can play almost any guitar, bass, piano, pan flute, viola, and harmonica.
river can speak spanish, french, creole, american sign language and some hindi besides english

BACKGROUND.
tw: drugs, addiction, death
born in new orleans, louisiana. diagnosed with type one diabetes as a young child. mother was wiccan and a strong believer in metaphysical practices along with many astrological practices- she owned a small shop in new orleans. father was deeply in love with their mother and worked as a street musician and helped with the shop when needed.
they lost both parents in hurricane katrina and was sent to live with their aunt in new jersey. she was vastly different from the free-spirited and loving home they’d grown used to but she tried and they don’t resent her for it.
early in their teens they developed an increasing awareness of this void inside of them which never quite could fill no matter how hard they tried. slowly it would spread, creeping into their brain to fill their head with dark thoughts and leave them debilitated if not dealt with. everything has a cause and effect. the result of this was a rush to keep trying to fill this dark hole with anything and everything they could get their hands on. drugs, alcohol, people, sex, love, affection, things. it became an endless merry go round of self-destruction interrupted by glimpses of peace and serenity in between.
this is how they fell into the group of friends they did, spending their time causing trouble, skipping school, and partying. by the time their aunt noticed their change in behavior and the truancy, it was far too late. their apathy for all things rules and conventional society standards were gone and they'd made the pact with their best friends and set out to explore the country together.
river felt a growing satisfaction in the nomadic lifestyle. they'd always had a wanderlust they couldn't quite confine. it opened them up for more creativity, writing song lyrics and music on occasion, learning more instruments. panhandling their songs on the sidewalks of various cities they stopped in or offering their better talents in tarot readings and astrology to get some extra cash to get them to the next city because the more they got in legitimate ways, the less they had to steal.
after several years of this, some of their friends got tired of found reasons to settle down in various places they'd stopped. river always hated saying goodbye, ever harboring a string of abandonment issues since their parents were unexpectedly taken from them. eventually it came down to them and link, which they were fine with because they weren't alone ( despite missing those who left ) and they'd always felt a strong connection to link, like they were made from the same stardust.
when they stumbled upon huntsville, it was a complete mistake and all the perception in the world couldn't have led them to the situation they found themselves in. forced to settle in, they worried what the future might hold for both them and their best friend. rationing the substances they could find could only last so long. river had to wonder what would take them out first the long list of vices they indulged in, the creatures that emerge from the darkness, or the withdrawal.
QUICK CONNECTIONS.
found family
bandmates/creative friends
yoga buddies
therapist
doctor/nurse
clients/customers

[ad_1] NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel expressed his enduring admiration for Sourav Ganguly, selecting the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and captain over the illustrious Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Patel, who made his debut for India at the age of 17 in 2002, played 15 Test matches and 10 ODIs under Ganguly's captaincy between 2002 and 2004.For live updates on ongoing cricket action, check out our India vs South Africa 1st ODI live blogDuring the 6th Advancement In Endourology Conference At the Forum Convention Centre, Patel spoke about his preference, stating, "Today I would still choose Sourav Ganguly as my captain for sure. We've had a lot of successful captains - Dhoni, Virat Kohli, everyone. But I would still choose Sourav. I think he had time for everyone. Everyone else has been great captains as well. But I would still choose him."Ganguly was known for his ability to back his players, a trait that left a lasting impression on Patel. Despite acknowledging the greatness of captains like Dhoni and Kohli, Patel emphasized the soft corner he holds for Ganguly as his first skipper.Sourav Ganguly (TOI Photo)"Of course, Dhoni's been great. There is no doubt about it. But when your first captain, you always have a soft corner for him. And that's exactly what I have," Patel added.Parthiv Patel had a successful stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL), winning the title with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2010. He later joined the Mumbai Indians in 2015 and 2017, contributing significantly to their triumphs.Reflecting on his experiences, Patel also spoke about the difference in styles between Delhi batters Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. He noted that both players are polite, but Kohli's approach, both on and off the field, tends to be slightly more aggressive."On the ground and off the ground, Virat is very polite. Gautam is also very polite. But we all love Virat Kohli. The way he celebrates and stuff. He inspires a lot of them. I've played a lot of cricket with Gautam, but I would say Virat's rather slightly more aggressive," Parthiv Patel concluded.BCCI ends speculations, retains Rahul Dravid as India's head coach alongside support staff(With inputs from ANI)!(function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) ; var TimesApps = window.TimesApps; TimesApps.toiPlusEvents = function(config) var isConfigAvailable = "toiplus_site_settings" in f && "isFBCampaignActive" in f.toiplus_site_settings && "isGoogleCampaignActive" in f.toiplus_site_settings; var isPrimeUser = window.isPrime; if (isConfigAvailable && !isPrimeUser) loadGtagEvents(f.toiplus_site_settings.isGoogleCampaignActive); loadFBEvents(f.toiplus_site_settings.isFBCampaignActive); loadSurvicateJs(f.toiplus_site_settings.allowedSurvicateSections); else var JarvisUrl="https://jarvis.indiatimes.com/v1/feeds/toi_plus/site_settings/643526e21443833f0c454615?db_env=published"; window.getFromClient(JarvisUrl, function(config) if (config) loadGtagEvents(config?.isGoogleCampaignActive); loadFBEvents(config?.isFBCampaignActive); loadSurvicateJs(config?.allowedSurvicateSections); ) ; )( window, document, 'script', ); [ad_2] Source link

I can say it, but I made my Test debut or a one-day debut before Dhoni came in. My performance went down. That's why Dhoni got picked. So I think it is a credit to him. I always said it, but there is only one opportunity you get because there are so many players around," he added.Talking about the difference between Delhi batters Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, Parthiv said both players are polite but the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain's style is slightly more aggressive."On the ground and off the ground. Virat is very polite. Gautam is also very polite. I mean, when you are playing cricket, when you want to win games for your country, there's obviously some kind of aggression that comes in. I've played a lot of cricket with Gautam but I would say Virat's rather slightly more aggressive," Parthiv said.Topics mentioned in this article

A former IND star highlights the challenge of finding a combination for the T20 World Cup
The Indian cricket team for their upcoming T20I series against South Africa is largely unchanged from the one that recently beat Australia 4-1. It means that they have stuck to a rather young team for the series, many of whom would be playing in South Africa for the first time in their senior careers. It also meant that the senior stars of India, like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah, would miss yet another T20I series in the buildup to the T20 World Cup next year.
India currently has just one more T20I series scheduled to be played after the South Africa series before the 2024 Indian Premier League can kick off. That will be a three-match series at home against Afghanistan. Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel said that the team will find it challenging to arrive at the right combination for the T20 World Cup, which he said has been their problem in the tournaments they have played in recent years.
Parthiv said, “India's biggest challenge to me has always been finding the right combination, especially in the T20 format. And we don't have games. Now we are talking about just three Afghanistan games, if at all Virat, Rohit, or Bumrah play in them. So I think it is something that India will have to take into account.”

[ad_1] By India Today Sports Desk: Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel has expressed disappointment at Sanju Samson missing out on making the most of the opportunities coming his way, especially in the shortest format of the game. Parthiv's comments came after Samson failed to get going in the 2nd of the 5-match T20I series in the West Indies. India managed just 152 on the board in the 2nd T20I in Barbaos, riding on Tilak Varma's fifty. In fact, the left-handed batter, playing only his 2nd T20I, looked the only batter who looked comfortable in the middle as India settled for a below-par score. In the second T20I against West Indies, Samson was dismissed for a mere 7 runs after he played a poor short to left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein. Samson missed the line of the ball completely as he went down the track and was stumped by wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran. This poor performance added to a string of disappointing scores, including a meager 12 runs in the first match of the series. Over the last three years, Samson's T20I batting average stands at a moderate 25.33, accompanied by a strike rate of 139. Samson has played as many as 19 T20Is and has managed just 1 fifty while averaging less than 20 runs per innings. Samson has been in and out of the team. The Kerala batter had to wait 5 years before he got his 2nd opportunity in T20Is but the Rajasthan Royals captain has not been able to cement his place in the side despite getting a consistent run since the start of 2022. "Every time India loses, we look at the negative points. Throughout the white-ball series, there has been talk about the need for batters to bat long and it is something that has been missing so far. Every time Samson is not in the squad, we talk about him, but he has not cashed in on the opportunities he has availed of so far. Probably time is running out for him, maybes yes or maybe no," Parthiv Patel told Cricbuzz. "Samson has been getting a lot of opportunities, to be honest, he is just not making the most of the opportunities that he is getting. There was only one batter who looked comfortable and that was Tilak Varma," he added. Samson was earmarked as a potential game-changer in Australian conditions in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup in 2024. However, the Royals skipper was overlooked for the the T20 World Cup last year. Samson, however, managed to make a mark in the ODI series, scoring a quickfire fifty and putting himself in the mix for a spot in the ODI World Cup squad. [ad_2]
