I look around, but it's you I can't replace
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: It's Christmas time for the people of Hawkins, and after some smart kids, weird teens, and some concerned parents beat up some demo dogs and burned the tunnels that led to an alternate dimension under their hometown, what's better than coming together to enjoy the Hawkins Middle School Snow Ball.
This is a three-parter and this first chapter will be Robin's POV as she becomes more than a babysitter and ties some loose thread with a girl she used to call a press.
Title from The Police "Every Breath You Take"
Status: 3/3 Chapters
Characters: Robin Buckley, Eddie Munson, Eleven Jane Hopper, Jim "Chief" Hopper, Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, All of The Party, Chrissy Cunningham
Main Paring: Platnoic Robin and Eddie Munson
Minor pairings and pre-relationships: Jonathan Byers/ Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson, Robin Buckley/Chrissy Cunningham, Eleven Jane Hopper/Mike Wheeler
Word Count: 10,782

The doors are closed and El hesitates to let go of Robins's and Hopper’s hands.
“It’s gonna be fine, find the Party in the crowd. They’re waiting for you. Nance, Jonathan, and Eddie are somewhere there too okay?” Robin assures El who nods slowly glancing at the door's windows and the crowd of other kids who are in uncomfortable tuxes and itchy dresses. The disco ball hanging from the ceiling and the fake decor of winter snowflakes on the walls. It’s been almost 3 years since Robin's been here.
Only a year since El was here. Came out of the walls and came back to their universe.
“El,” Hopper grabs both of her hands gently and kneels on one of his knees to be at her eye level. “if anything happens and I mean anything, tell someone to tell me. If you want to leave I’ll be out in the parking lot. For whenever you want to leave and go straight home okay.” Hopper finishes and El answers with a hug.
“I promise,” El says and Hopper hugs her tight. Once out of her embrace, she leaves the hallway and goes to put away her coat in the makeshift 'Coat room' that's just an empty classroom
“Robin if anything-”
“I will run to you like a turkey competing in the annual Hawkins turkey trot.” Robin finishes and Hopper smirks.
“You were terrible at that.”
“Still got a medal.” Robin smiles. No, she didn’t compete in the annual Hawkins turkey trot. Eleven was still forbidden to leave the house, so they had one in the backyard of Robin’s house since they had a tall fence and a clean grassy lawn, far from nosey neighbors.
She was dragged to compete along with Eddie, Nancy, and Jonathan and she came in 2nd to Jonathan which was surprising. She was a weird runner.
“8 p.m.?” Hopper quips.
“8:30 p.m.”
“8 p.m.”
“8:30, Hop.”
He sighs.
“8:30 p.m.” He agrees and walks out to no doubt join Joyce who they waved to in the parking lot.
Robin smiles slightly at the win.

a/n: this was a bitch to type, I injured pinkie finger and it hurts to type. so, sorry if its a bit rushed and all over the place. I'm just trying to tie loose ends.
--
It was a normal morning some would say. Jim woke up in a cold sweat with a hangover that felt as if a boulder landed on him, Steve was passed out on the couch holding his deceased girlfriend's shirt while the family videos played and Eleven at Mikes still discussing their plan to find (y/n).
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHES ALIVE?! IF SHE WAS ALIVE I WOULD KNOW IT BY NOW! CAUSE STEVEN HARRINGTON CANT KEEP HIS DAMN MOUTH SHUT!” Dustin screamed throwing the board game on the floor, Max emidiatly hushed him. El was sitting around the table with her friends as the DnD board was on the floor, it was odd. Mike was trying to think about how it was possible, Will was trying to calm Dustin down from his outburst.
“Will? Did you see her at all?” Lucas looked up finally removing his hands from his face. “N-No not at all. I didn't feel him near.” Will stammered. He felt guilty keeping this from his brother, what if she really was alive?
--
Jim went to work angry, tired, and in need of a cigarette. There was no music on the drive there, and he just found out that he drank all the beer last night trying to figure out how this is possible.
“Wow, Jim. Who peed in your oatmeal this morning” one of the cops snickered as he sat down at his desk. He let out a long sigh, took off his hat, and started to go through any and all paperwork that dealt with Starcourt Mall and the Russians last year.
He heard a knock on the door and saw Florence with a cup of water and an aspirin.  “thanks.” the cop mumbled as she set the two items down and sat across from him. “Jim, I haven't seen you this distraught since the Byers kid went missing. What's going on?” the woman asked with worry in her eyes.
“It's about (Y/N) a few people around town are saying they saw her. I have to find out if it's true or some cruel joke. I swear if it’s some cruel joke I’m going to make those fuckers wish they didn’t come up with the idea.” Jim growled out, holding back tears as he glanced at the picture frame of his family. “If it helps any, you might want to talk to Joyce about this. The girl would do anything for you.” Florence smiled as she left the dark room, wishing for her friend to feel better.
Three hours later he finally found something. Three hours to find out there was a call about a lost girl. Three hours to go by some random strangers eyes from the town over. It wasn't a lot, and it probably wasn’t her, but if there was a chance that his daughter was alive he will try to find out.  “I'm taking the day off,” Hopper said leaving the building.
--
Steve woke up crying, he thought that the events from yesterday were just a bad dream. He couldn't take it anymore he has to do something about this, he has to find her. He got into the car and drove to the Wheelers residence, it was a long shot trying to talk to Nancy, but if he knew El (and he practically knew everything at this point) she would be with MIke.
Before he could even ring the doorbell Nancy opened the front door. “Steve?! What the hell are you doing here?!” she exclaimed. Ever since (Y/n) left the two didn't speak unless forced to; it wasn't that they hated each other. It was more like they couldn't look at each other without being reminded of her. “Is Mike here,” Steve said as Nancy moved out of the way to let him in.
“uhh yeah, he’s in the basement. Why?” She was more confused than ever. If Steve is here to talk to Mike then that meant two things, El was in trouble with Hopper or that the Demogorgon was back; and she was really hoping it wasn't the latter. “DnD business Nance.” Steve didn't technically lie, but it also wasn't the truth. “okay?” she didn't bother to ask about it any further. When steve became short with his answers she knew that there was no chance to get anything out of him. When she turned back to the door she saw the flash of (y/n)’s (y/e/c) eyes. “Shit”
--
He ran down the stairs, keys still in hand, to see the party including Robin sitting on the floor in deep thought. “So I'm guessing El told you.” Everyone jumped hearing his voice. “what the fuck man! You didn't bother to radio it in?!” Dustin ran over to the young adult. (Y/N) was like an older sister to the teenagers, always there to give advice, watch a movie, or even rant or cry on her shoulder. But she had an especially close bond with Dustin, Mike, Will, and El.
“And let whoever listen in? ‘Oh yeah, guess what guys! My dead girlfriend isn't dead after all! No, in fact, she's in Hawkins and I think I'm going crazy and her Dad is mad at me cause I probably pulled her into this fucking mess!’ NO! I'm not going to do that Dustin!” Steve all but calmy said running a hand through his already tousled hair. everyone stopped moving and started to look behind Steve. “What is it now,” Steve exclaimed turning around.
Everything went silent, all breathing stopped. Steve couldn't believe it, he dropped his keys and walked cautiously towards the stairs. “(Y/N)?”
--
Hopper arrived at Joyce's house to see the door open. He put his hand over his gun and walked forward. “Joyce?” He asked as he stepped through the door, everything was still in place except for Wills drawings all over the table. “In here Jim!” a sigh of relief left his lips as he walked towards her room to see her on the phone.
“yeah... okay thanks, Nancy.” Joyce hung up the phone and looked at Hopper, his eyes full of worry as she waled to him. “She's alive, and at Mikes.” Hopper let out a shaky laugh and pulled the woman into a hug. “I knew it, Joyce. I fucking knew it.” They stayed like that for a good five minutes until they decided to go to Mikes and Nancy's.
Usually, it would take ten to fifteen minutes to the Wheelers, but Hopper wasn't going to waste another minute away from his daughter. One year too long.
--
Five minutes. That is how long it took for hugs to be passed around and for Hopper to bust down the door and run to the basement. “(Y/N) (Y/M/N) HOPPER! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! ONE YEAR (Y/N) (Y/M/N)! ONE LONG FUCKING YEAR!” It wasn’t a shock to hear Hopper yell, but the fact that he used her middle name made it otherwise.
He noticed a few new scars over her body, some cuts on her face, as well as some bruises here and there. She didn’t deserve any of this, she didn’t do anything wrong to be harmed.
“You’re telling me” she smiled softly, looking at her father. He opened his arms as she crashed into him. A hug well needed and well deserved. Everyone ignored the fact that if she were alive than something might be alive as well.

Dale la vuelta y te transportarán a The Upside down.

Read the first part of the series to make sense
Tumblr media
He senses an instant feel of goosebumps form on his neck and then the front door rings. He’s confused to see that there are only three kids around him and the fourth one is making his way outside. Eddie checks his watch and finds it’s only 7 pm.
Way too early for Joyce to be done with her last-minute night shift. He was taking them all home anyway so it’s concerning when through the glass Will is standing in the middle of the parking lot and just..standing there. Looking at nothing but the smokey black sky.
Eddie walks out and runs to get in front of the boy crouching down to his level. His brown eyes are wide and Eddie has only witnessed his episodes so far in the past few months. Mike comes yelling and the rest of the Party comes outside, Robin is at the door keeping the door open while Keith complains and leaves his view.
Eddie holds his hands and squeezes them. Some type of grounding exercise that Jonathan taught him once.
“Hey bud, um hey what’s going on?” Eddie says in a careful voice, small and gentle.
Will blinks just a few seconds after and he looks around at Eddie with wide bright eyes, he breathes heavily.
Eddie tries to comfort him but Will shifts to the side, eyes trailing at the sounds around him. People in the parking lot are ready to come on or come out. Car engines running. People catching popcorn or gummy bears in their mouths.
"Hey." Eddie tries to count out numbers, "1, breath in..., breath out...," He continues and Will repeats. Squeezing Eddies hand to ground himself.
A couple breathes after their interrupted by multiple voices calling Will's attention.
“I’m fine,” Will assures him by letting go of Eddie's hands and nods but it looks like he’s putting up more of an effort to keep himself in check.
Eddie sighs and Mike comes closer to wrap his arm around his shoulders.
“He said he’s fine. Right your okay?” Mike says while Dustin and Lucas share a look. They are not completely convinced.
“Um, you're next on Dig Dug, we still have 2 hours before we have to leave.” They make their way back inside and Dustin stays near the entrance, Robin's cheeks are already red, the freezing wind and nervousness riling up. Filling up her half-empty belly.
“Was it another episode?” Dustin asks and Robin makes an uneasy face looking for help with Eddie who takes a deep breath.
“He’s gonna be fine,” Eddie says patting his head Dustin doesn’t chortle but he tries his best to smile.
That’s enough for now.

the prodigal sister. four.
pairing: familial byers fam x reader, romantic paring tbd
word count: 2.7k
summary: y/n is the middle sibling of the byers brothers. she’s just ten months younger than jonathan, making the pair “irish twins”. except when her father and mother got divorced, lonnie got custody of y/n and took her away from the rest of the family.
notes: okay so i realized that i was calling the tps chapters parts when i was organizing stuff and now i’ve decided that i’m going to use the term chapter for here too.  i don’t think anyone but me noticed but it bugged me lol.  and here’s part four!  here you get introduced to hopper in the fic, and another night at the arcade!
other chapters: masterlist
tps tag list: @irreleventmoonchild, @rockyrocket15, @the-fae-child, @bucky4cap45, @pinklyrium  ( most of the tags seem to be broken so, if u wanna be added/readded to the tag list just let me know ! )
It was a cold midwestern mid-January morning the next morning when Y/N woke up.  For the local Hawkins school it was already the beginning of the semester, but back at her boarding school in California, the semester didn’t begin until the beginning of February.  So now, switching schools, she’d have to play catch up.
Which is why, when her mother insisted upon taking Y/N along to work with her ( Joyce was still worried about anything happening if any of her kids were home alone, and Y/N had seen the slight hint of panic in her mother’s eyes and agreed to go with her ), they stopped at the school and grabbed a packet of what she missed at school.  So the scene that Chief Hopper walked into at Melvald’s--Joyce stickering the discounted items and Y/N sitting on a metal stool behind one of the registers, a textbook propped in her lap--confused him briefly, before he remembered that Joyce had three kids.  This must be her daughter.
When Hopper cleared his throat both of the Byers women looked up from what they were working on and, at the same time, waved to Hopper.
“Hey Hop, what do you need?”  Joyce asked, putting down the sticker gun and walking back over toward her daughter, placing a hand on her shoulders, “This is Y/N, my daughter.  I don’t think you’ve ever met her.”
Y/N extended her hand and looked at Hopper with a bright smile, “Hey, good to meet you.  I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Hopper had made his way to where the women stood, taking Y/N’s extended hand and shaking it slowly as he looked between the two.  A quick flutter went through his chest which he pushed down as he shook his head and spoke again, “A lot?”
“They told me about everything.”  Y/N explained, head going back down to the textbook in her lap as she carefully looked up to the chief of police to watch his reaction.
“Are we just going to tell everyone now?”  Jim quietly exclaimed, knowing he could have been louder ( angrier ) in the nearly empty store.  He was just worried that the more people who knew about everything would mean more people who could hurt Jane.  And they were all still recovering from what happened at the lab back in November.  “Where’s Melvald?  Let’s let him in too in case you need to take off randomly!”  He knew it was a bit of an overreaction, but it was his protective instincts kicking in.
“She’s not just anyone, Hop.  She’s my daughter.”  Joyce replied defensively, putting her hands on her hips.
“So?”
“So?!”
“She’s sitting right here, she can hear you.”  Y/N said, not taking her eyes off of the paragraph she’d intended to read ( even if she wasn’t entirely focused on the context of the words in front of her at the moment ) when she spoke.  “You can’t expect them to hide the whole reason why apparently everyone spent some time thinking that Will might be dead.  Finding that shit out is kind of a big deal.  I mean, my dad hid that shit from me for a whole fucking year pretty much.”  Y/N’s eyebrows shot up as she spoke the last bit, finally looking over at the man across the counter.
“Language.”  Joyce muttered to herself, shaking her head.  She turned her attention away from her daughter to look over at Hopper with a tight lipped smile.  “She’s staying here from now on.  She needed to know.”
“Fine.”  Hopper grumbled after a couple of moments of silence with ( what he thought was a scarily similar ) look from both Joyce and Y/N.
After a couple more moments, everyone seemed satisfied and Joyce and Hopper moved back over to one of the shelves as Y/N continued to work on the homework she had.
Tumblr media
A couple of days later at home, the kids were in the living room all working on their respective homework before heading out to their nightly activities.  Jonathan and Nancy were going out--Jonathan complaining about the fact that Nancy was dragging him to some party under his breath--while Will and Y/N were going to go to the arcade with the kids.  Will didn’t even complain, because Y/N had said she wanted to try for a high score on “that Dig Dug game”.
After the third time Jonathan grumbled to himself, Y/N nudged his shoulder and looked at him out of the corner of her eyes, “This is what happens when you date a popular girl, Jon.  She’s got to go to these things with her friends and she wants you to go too because she loves you.”  Y/N sing-songed the word love, dragging it out for s couple of notes with a bit of a chuckle both from herself and from Will on her other side, sitting in the chair.
“Yeah, well she knows I don’t like these parties.”  Jonathan scrunched his face up as he crossed something off on his notebook paper before writing again.
“Just bring your camera and take pictures if she wanders off with her friends.”  Y/N shrugged, going back to her work.  The good thing about switching schools was that, in some cases, she was ahead in the work.  In California she had already read the play the English class was working on, so she didn’t need to do much except for answer the questions on the reading sheets she’d gotten.
“That’s not a bad idea, I guess.”  Jonathan muttered under his breath.
“What was that?  Sorry, I couldn’t hear you!” as if to emphasize her point, she cupped one of her hands around her ear as she continued to speak, “Did you say that was a good idea?”  she was teasing him, a grin across her lips as she turned to look at Jonathan who just pursed his lips.  “Aw come on!”  She dropped her hand back down to her sides and looked at her brother.
Eventually, after a couple of minutes of the pair just staring at each other, Jonathan broke and he smiled back at his sister which seemed to make her happy and she went back to her work.  She felt like in the short week it had been since she’d gotten home at first, that she was finally reconnecting with her siblings again.
And her heart tugged in her chest.  She hated that she’d missed out on the big stuff, sure.  But it was the little things too, teasing Jonathan or taking Will around town, that she missed even more.
When she’d think of going home ever, it was these kinds of moments that she thought about.  Sitting in the living room, doing homework.  Nothing major happening.
Tumblr media
Being true to his word, Steve did call the Byers house and let Joyce, who had picked up the phone, know that he would be by in a couple of minutes for Y/N and Will.  Of course, Y/N seemed to think it was a bit ridiculous, but wasn’t going to argue.  She’d take riding in a car with a heater than walking in the cold air any day.
She and Will stood outside, waiting for the car to pull up and when it did, Y/N watched as Dustin grumpily got out of the passengers seat and left the door open before heading into the back and keeping the door open for Will.
“I don’t get why she gets the front seat.  You picked me up first, Steve!”  Dustin’s shout could be heard from halfway up the driveway as Y/N and Will made their way to the car.  Y/N turned to look at Will with raised eyebrows who just replied with a shrug as he got into the car and closed the door.
“Because she’s older and your friend’s in the backseat.  Shut up, Dustin.”  Steve exclaimed back as Y/N got into the car and he drove off to the arcade.
“But I was first!”  Dustin said a couple of minutes later after the silence, save for the radio playing, got the better of him.
“Not on the planet.”  Y/N said, turning to look back at him with a grin, showing him that her comment was simply teasing.  “Anyway, we just got the word that I’ll be going to school with you guys on Monday.”  Y/N said, turning back to the front and looking over at Steve.
“Cool.  Do you have your schedule yet?”  he asked, glancing at her as he continued to keep his focus on the road in front of him.
Y/N shook her head, “Nah, I gotta pick it up that morning from the principal’s office.  But I have all the homework I missed from the core classes already, I guess it just depends on what electives they give me.”
“I guess I’ll see you on Monday, then.  What grade are you in?”
“Junior, with Jonathan and Nancy.  I skipped ahead a year back in middle school.”
“You skipped a grade?”  Dustin exclaimed from the backseat and leaned forward to look at Will’s sister.
Y/N nodded, “Yeah, it’s not a big deal.  I think the principal and guidance counsellor’s words were that she’s not being challenged to the best extent in this grade, she’s already finished all the English and History work for the next month from the syllabus.”  She explained, doing her best to make her voice a bit deeper when she explained what the school authority figures had said to her.  It had been just a year after her leaving Hawkins too, her parents splitting up when she was just moving into middle school.
“I didn’t know that.  Does Jonathan know?”  Will asked, his head tilted to the side as he asked, looking at his sister’s reflection in the rearview mirror.
Y/N shrugged,  “I think I told him in one of the letters we used to write.”
“That’s cool that you skipped a grade.”  Dustin hummed, grinning.
“It’s not that big of a deal, really.  I’m not like, super smart.  I’ve got a good memory though.”  Y/N explained shyly, turning her attention out the window as they pulled up to the arcade.
Their arrival seemed to signal the end of the conversation as the kids immediately got out of the car before Steve even pulled the key out of the ignition and ran to meet the rest of the party inside the arcade.
Steve turned to look at Y/N, “Are you gonna go in with them?”
Y/N nodded, “Yup.  I’m either going home with the high score on that one game, or I’ll finish this book.”  she explained, pulling the book she’d brought with her out of her bag and shrugged.
“Okay.  Cool.  I’ll come in too.”  Steve said, flipping his keys in his hands and then putting them in the pocket of his jacket.  Before Y/N could even ask why, he was already out of the car and headed for the door.
Y/N got out too, closing the door gently and heading toward the door of the arcade when she heard the loud sounds of AC/DC blasting down the otherwise quiet Hawkins street.  She turned her head and watched as a camaro pulled up to a quick and screeching halt in front of her, the redheaded Max getting out of the car holding tightly to her skateboard.  She gave a half wave to Y/N before turning back and flipping off her step-brother and making her way inside the arcade.
“What are you doing here, Y/N?”  Billy called, leaning out of the driver’s side window and looking at her, his hair falling into his eyes as he did so.  Y/N just crossed her arms against her chest and gestured with her head to the arcade, where all the kids were standing inside, looking out the window at the scene.  A look crossed Billy’s features and he nodded his head.  “Right.  Byers.  Forgot.”  he tapped his hand on the side of his car, the other still holding tightly to the wheel.  “So you actually hang out with the kids?  What are you babysitting them?”  He scoffed, shaking his head and turning to look at the arcade for a brief moment before looking back at her.  “And with Steve Harrington?  Seriously?”
“I’m not babysitting, Billy.  I’m hanging out with my brother, which I happen to enjoy.  I’m sure that you don’t feel the same way about your step-sister, but some of us like our siblings.”  Y/N replied with a quick glance toward the arcade and flashing everyone a smile.  She didn’t understand why they all hated Billy.  Sure, the Billy she knew back in California could have been a jerk too.  He typically played with girls.  But she was having a hard time putting the Billy she knew together with the Billy they’d all described and told her about her first night home.
“It’s an arcade, Y/N.  That’s not fun.”
“Maybe not if you suck at video games.  Is that your problem, Billy?  Your kid sister is better than you at video games?”  her tone was completely joking, a grin across her face and a giggle passing her lips as she spoke.
Billy just shook his head.  He almost wanted to bite back a comment at her, but he’d known her for a couple of years, and he knew that she wasn’t saying that to press his buttons but to joke with him.  He almost missed California more in that moment, where he felt more relaxed.  He looked at her, a simple, “Shut up, Y/N.”  as his reply.
They both stayed in their spots quietly for a moment,  Y/N’s hands having dropped to her sides, but one of them holding tightly to the band of her purse and Billy looking more relaxed than he had been when he showed up to drop Max off at the arcade.
“I’ve got to go.  I’ve got a date.”  Billy said after another couple of moments, turning to look at the clock on his dashboard and then look back at Y/N.
“I’ve got kids to babysit.”  she laughed, rolling her eyes as she used what Billy had called it a moment before.  She took a couple of steps away from the two cars and headed for the arcade door, where she watched from the corner of her eyes as everyone moved quickly so they weren’t standing right at the windowed front of the shop as if they hadn’t been eavesdropping.  A chuckle, more air than sound, came from her as she turned back to look at Billy, still not having moved from leaning out of his camaro.  “I’ll see you at school on Monday, Hargrove.”
“See ya Byers.”
As she waved, Billy’s car engine revved as he sped off down the road, the song switching to another AC/DC track.  Y/N watched for a moment as the car was quickly out of her sight of vision as she turned to go into the arcade.
“Will said you knew Billy but I didn’t believe him.”  Came Dustin’s comment, not looking up from the game they group had begun to play.
“Yeah, how do you know my step-brother?”  Max asked, looking up at Y/N with a confused look.
“He went to school around the boarding school in California.  He was friends with some guys from our brother school and he knew my roommate last year.”  Y/N explained with a shrug of her shoulders.
“Hargrove’s trouble.”  Steve said from her left, and she turned to look at him.  “‘m just saying.”  Steve held up his hands defensively, shrugging his shoulders.
“Billy’s fine.  I can be friends with whoever I want to be friends with, guys.  Don’t make this into a big thing.”  Y/N sighed, sitting up on one of the tables around the machines and shaking her head.  She couldn’t believe she was having this conversation again.
“We’re just looking out for you.”  Will said quietly, offering his sister a smile.
“Yeah, Billy’s a dick.”  Lucas interjected.
“He beat the shit out of Steve, remember!”  Dustin said, finally his attention on the conversation as the game he’d been playing had been lost.
“I could have taken him.”
“Sure buddy.  How many fights have you actually won, again?”
Y/N rolled her eyes and listened to the conversation they were having before turning her own head and grabbing the book from her bag and letting the rest of them move off of the topic on their own.

A/n: sorry it’s short, I might not post the third one this or next week since school is starting up but I will try!
-
A year later and Hawkins was more gloomy than ever. No one laughed anymore, or at least had a genuine laugh. There was barely any sun, the boys stopped playing DnD, why should they when the best player is dead? The girls stopped going to the mall cause the person with the best fashion advice no longer breaths air. Steve has resorted to going on one night dates, never bringing the girl home but seeing if they are anything like his love. Nancy started to write more and more dark depressing poems, Jonathan no longer takes pictures of the things he loves. Hopper started to work over time trying to see if his daughter was anywhere out there.
—-Russia—-
All (y/n) could feel was the cold stone under her, she didn’t know where she was or how she got there. It was confusing to her when she saw the Demogorgan eat the Russian man, she closed the gate… right?
All of this should be over, she should be at home with her sister and father, be in her boyfriend Steve’s arms.
‘Poor Steve, he probably thinks I’m dead’ she thought to herself as she scanned her cell. There was an air duct she could leave through but it would have to be when the guards switch out.
-one month later-
“Thanks again Steve for taking me to the movie!” The girl said clinging to his arm as they left the movie theater. He looked down at the girl, Jena; it wasn’t (y/n) no one could replace the love of his life.
“Uhh- Yeah no problem.” He stammered, his mind lost at thought when the lights flickered. To any other person it would be faulty wiring but to him it meant danger.
He looked up to see a familiar pair of (y/e/c) eyes that quickly left. His heart ached at the thought of her being alive. But she wasn’t, there was a funeral and people mourned and are still mourning her death. Hawkins didn’t feel like home anymore.
“Uh, Steve? What are you looking at honey?” Steve was thrown back into reality looking at his date. “Nothing, listen Jean. I forgot I have this dinner thing I have to go to, I had fun really. I’ll call you a cab” he was rushing his words out as he looked anywhere but his date trying to see if she was back in Hawkins.
“It’s Jenna.” The girl said angrily. “Yeah that’s what I said.” He called a cab and then left in he direction he last saw (y/n).
It must be a bad dream, she couldn’t be alive. He almost caught up to her until she turned a corner and disappeared. How could she disappear? Then again anything can happen in Hawkins Indiana. It couldn’t be her, it has to be his grief getting the best of him; yeah that’s it, grief.
Steve was running late to dinner, he knew that, El knew that, Hopper did too; but they didn’t know why, they didn’t know Steve was trying to move on, they didn’t know that he saw her alive in Hawkins.
When he showed up at Hoppers front door it wasn’t the cop who opened the door, or the young sister. It was (Y/n), but how? Was this another allusion like earlier?
“Steve.” The girl said opening the door wider. Was she mad that she saw him on a date he wasn’t interested in? Her (y/e/c) eyes watering just looking at him. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Did Steve die and went to heaven? Or was this hell and he could never go back to her.
“Steve? A-are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost...” Steve soon realized it was an allusion, for it was El that answered the door. “I think I saw (Y/n) at the mall...” The young adult said sitting down at the small table head in his hands.
“Steve, she’s gone.” Hopper sighed getting up from his chair. “But what if she’s not! There would be ash where she stood if she was! Joyce Byers said that there wasn’t any ash! No sign of her at all.” Steve yelled looking up at Jim with tears spilling out from the corner of his eyes.
He couldn’t take it, all of the stress with trying to get into college again, the new job, his girlfriend that may or may not be alive. This must be some cruel joke.
“Dad, I have to see mike.” El tugged at her fathers flannel. She felt something was weird, she knew Steve wasn’t lying. It was impossible for the boy to lie. Steve looked at El noticing the emerald ring on a chain around her neck. “El, you know you can’t right now. It’s dinner time then after dinner you can go while I talk to Steven.” Hopper glared at him with fire behind his eyes.
Dinner was awkwardly quiet, you’d think that Hopper would believe that his daughter would be alive, but apparently not. El are as fast as she could to talk to the party about (y/n) to see if anyone else saw her or felt off. El promised her sister to do anything she could to keep everyone safe and happy. The thing is no one has been truly happy sense (y/n) died, so if she truly is alive then she will stop at nothing to bring her home.
“El, you may be excused. Have Joyce drive you home. Steve, kitchen. Now.” Hopper grunted picking up the plates as Steve fallowed the cop. “Listen kid, I know you love her. But you have to let her go, she’s gone ok. Don’t tell me my daughter is alive when I finally came to terms with it.” Hoppers voice cracked near the end of his speach when he saw the familiar (y/h/c) hair brush past the kitchen window.
“(Y/n)!” He yelled as he opened the window into the cold December night. No response and no reply as the two men’s heart clenched and shattered.

Masterlist
Prompt list
(1)-(2)-(3)-(5)-(6)

warnings: bad writing, all over the place, Russians, language, going off canon.
(y/n): your name
(y/n/n): your nickname
(y/h/c): your hair color
(y/e/c): your eye color
---
(Y/N) was a smart girl, she picked up Russian in a matter of weeks, learned how to act sick to get more food, and was able to escape through a crappy planned ventilation system. Although it sounded easy, there was a trick; sneak out of the cell, take out one of the guards, take their uniform, act like one of them, and learn what the hell that scream was from. Of course with her luck, the base she was located at was in the mountains, fuck.
As she walked quickly across the halls trying to look through any and all cells to find out who or what that scream was from. She was hoping with every fibre in her body it was just another cellmate and not what she dealt with in the past two years. She came across a giant cell with high ceilings and electric bars she saw it, that grey slimy beast with countless rows of teeth that caused her to have night terrors. That awful creature made by the devil himself to torture Will and Elven.  No wonder they were in the mountains... but if this thing was here then that meant that they have a gate open. ‘Shit, h-how could this happen?’ She saw it closed! She has to get out of here. It took her a few months to get enough money for one plane ticket. She has to tell the others. She was too worried about telling her friends and family she forgot that it's been a year since they've seen her.
She has changed a lot since Hawkins, she has seen gruesome things happen to innocent people. When she got on the plane she started to think about her dad ‘has he been okay? is he taking care of El?’ as her mind wondered she thought of Steve ‘did he move on? Did he find someone to take my place? Did he forget about me?’ of course she shouldn't be mad if he did move on, they all thought she was dead, but that didn’t stop the raging fire festering in her.
-
At this point in (Y/N)’s life, she is no longer phased by anything out of the ordinary. She fought weird alien-like creatures, almost died, has a sister with superpowers, been captured by Russians, best friends with children, and now sitting in the basement of her best friends house being pelted with questions.
“So you're telling me that the Russians, the big ugly guys, Alexie’s co-workers, took you right as that machine was destroyed?” Hopper being frustrated was an understatement. He was furious, not at his daughter, but the things she had to deal with, with the Russians taking her away. “Yeah, but that's not what we should be worrying about. They have a gate in the mountains in one of their bases. The Demogorgon is back” Steve was pacing around the room not even bothering to look at El, Hopper, or even (y/n).
Steve should be worried that there is another Demogorgon on the planet, but his mind was occupied with the thoughts of ‘has she moved on?’ It was a silly thought. “Steve, I know you love (y/n) and all but now is the time to make a strategy if they come back to Hawkins,” Max said looking at the boy who finally looked up. “How do we know that they'll come back to Hawkins?” Steve said looking at (y/n) with sunken eyes.
“We don't. But we still need to be prepared. While I was there I found that it was very difficult to keep the Demogorgon alive, sure it was below freezing, but it didn't have a strong enough power source there. Only Hawkins does, they've tried opening gates in other areas of America but they didn't work correctly. If I am correct, and I usually am, the gate has a strong magnetic field that can change compasses north as well as demagnetize anything. In that area, there was no demagnetization, nor did the compasses change.” The girl said looking at Dustin, Lucas, Mike, El, and Will. Ignoring the looks from Steve, she saw his date that night, she was pretty; completely different from herself. She was jealous but now is not the time.
“You have dealt with this before, is there any way that the Demogorgon can feed off of electricity or anything that's not meat?” she said as the five kids looked at each other. “I'm not sure... it could be possible. In the upsidedown, there weren't any animals at all, but then again it's interdimensional. But there was some power, the lights would flicker but that's it.” Joyce said as Hopper sighed.
“Whatever it is, I'm not having you go back out there and fight it.” He pointed a finger at his eldest. “Dad it was one year. I survived one year without supervision also have you forgotten that we fought a literal meat monster that would not fucking die!” She glared at her father.
“I agree with your dad on this (y/n/n), we already lost you once. I don't want to lose you again.” Steve said pleading with the girl whos looks could kill. “oh really? Well, Steven, apparently you didn’t lose much did you?” It was wrong to be angry at him, it was stupid. Yet she felt betrayed, did he even try to look for her? Did he even wait to move on?
“What does that mean?” El whispered to Max. The young girl shook her head and mouthed later. The tension in the room was unbearable, side glances from the kids, Joyce and Hopper silently talking amongst themselves.
“If you want to continue this conversation I’d advise it to be private. After all we have worse matters to deal with.” Jim finally broke the awkward silence. It was heart breaking to see Steve’s eyes flash from relief to sadness, and to see (y/n)’s turn from happiness to betrayed. The couple has had fights before, but they were petty fights going from “you are my last ice cream sandwich” to “that’s not how you play the game” but this was much worse. It wasn’t because of some silly popsicle, it was about trust.
“Well if you excuse me, I’m going home to sleep.” She tried to walk away before Mike ran infront of her, blocking her path to the stairs. “You can’t just waltz out of here! People think your dead! And not just the “got lost in the woods” type of dead! It’s been a year with no sign of you coming back until two days ago.” He had a point. This wasn’t like two years ago where they could convince everyone to think Will got lost in the woods for a month.
“I’ll pull my truck around and you can sneak in that way.” Her father said walking past her. “Kids, I think we should leave (y/n/n) and Steve alone so they can catch up.” Those were the first things Robin has said all day. Probably in shock from all of this. She didn’t know (y/n) that well, but she did think of her as a friend.
As everyone was leaving El slipped Steve the ring he gave her a year ago. (y/n) turned to face Steve, unsure what to call him. “So you saw me at the movies” he scratched his neck awkwardly as she stood infront of him with crossed arms. “Sure did.” She said shortly.
“Ya know I-I didn’t stop looking for you until this month, I never forgot you. I mean hell I never stopped loving you.” He sighed as she rolled her eyes trying to hold back tears. “Then why did you move on?” She asked softly. “I didn’t, I never did. She asked me to go to the movies and Dustin kicked me out of his house the minute I told him.” He walked towards her slowly, hopping she won’t move away. “I was lonely Steve, there were times I- where I thought I would die.” She finally broke, sobs pouring out of her lips as he embraced her.
“There wasn’t a day where I didn’t watch your family tapes, I’m pretty sure Hopper is tired of me going to his house for dinner every night and falling asleep watching those videos” he laughed sadly rubbing her back. She laughed at the thought of him passed out on the couch.
“Hey! Don’t laugh at that! It’s pathetic!” He scolded pulling away from her as she looked at him. “Oh so loving me is pathetic now?” She teased, a glint of mischief in her eyes as a smirk played on her lips. “Never.” He smiled at her. They were both close enough where their breaths mingled, one inch closer and they’d be kissing. They were moving closer together about to kiss when El walked in the room.
“Dads ready.” She smiled to herself when she saw the two jump apart as blush spread across their faces.
