I'm glad we can all agree that Twilight hearing Time say he's proud of him and deciding, apropos of nothing, that Time can't POSSIBLY be proud of him because the Hero's Shade was pissed at 16 year old him for doing the exact same thing he did here and WORSE except with ZERO TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE OR WEAPONRY OR KNOWLEDGE TO SPEAK OF is the shittiest most faulty un-logical leap to have ever been made.
Sweet bleeding mercy, dude.
Dead Time, having seen Twilight pull this, double down on his stupidity, ignore his advice then, had to watch teenager Twi several hundreds of years after his death proceed to do ALL of the following:
Attack huge unknown monster unprepared, charge into battle with only a sword (barely knowing how to do more than slash with it), get fucking knocked on the head, lose track of his brother and best friend in the process, nearly drown, almost lose an arm, get fucking yanked into the Twilight, GET KIDNAPPED AND CHAINED UP IN THE DUNGEONS, nearly get his shit rocked again by his adoptive father and half of the village by running in casually As A Wolf
WHILE knowing full well that Twilight in his own future will do half of this AGAIN, SHOWING HE LEARNED *NOTHING.*
Frankly the Hero's Shade was lenient and could have beat his ass harder than he did, but the breathtaking stupidity in Twilight's conclusion that Time isn't truly proud of him is. Something else. This man has not matured in the slightest. Props to Hero's Shade Time for restraining himself.
By the way I made a meme about this here look

I know the tornado post about the dead man walking tornadoes is 5 months old but I was halfway through pulling resources for myself to counter-argue it when I scrolled down and saw you already did. thank you 🙏
Oh of course haha!
Yeah, there were good and bad parts to the post, and honestly I really can't blame OP for not knowing the information themselves regarding the "legend" details- That stupid documentary is well over 20 years old and the lack of quick verification back then + the fact that the company has long since pretended that no, they never made such a documentary and it certainly wasn't them peddling complete nonsense to sound dramatic has really made for a hard to filter set of information.
But hopefully, now people know! It's still a very cool tornado, and there are also plenty of Native American stories that *do* have actual relevance to tornadoes, so maybe this will help a bit!
Man, this particular commentary is suddenly getting a LOT of traction in the past couple of days...

i love the bridge in the last woman on earth as much as the next person, but theres something about the quietness of the rest of the song. it's soft, you can tell shes speaking to someone she loves. the way each verse ends makes it obvious that she's pleading with the person to burn her, scatter her, hide her body from the ravenous masses. to understand the risk she took when she stepped into the limelight. to hear the screams from defiled women before her. to ensure that the same pain doesnt happen to her. its just such a pleading, hopeful song and at the end we dont even know if that person honored her wishes or if she ended up just like so many women before her.

I found your blog through the post you made about deadman walking tornadoes! I love meteorology, and was wondering if you'd ever like to nerd out sometime!
Sure thing lovely!!
Shoot me a message or tag me in reblogs or something, I'm happy to chat! I *am* in the middle of the latter part of my degree right now, though, so I may not always be the most... Eloquent or measured
(Also you can find more similarly discussed commentary to the Dead Man Walking discussion on @synopticskies!)

I could write a novel on this one. But I will settle for a few examples, starting with the fact that I experienced both ends of this in a twenty minute timespan today during my physical geology course's supplemental instruction timeslot.
Actually it was probably ten minutes. I think I broke my SI tutor's brain when I explained that I learned most of the igneous rock samples when I was four. And then I correctly answered another question but was unable to identify what the question was when asked to clarify my answer... After having it repeated to me I still have no idea what the question was. Couldn't tell you why my answer was the right one. Couldn't tell you how I got the answer without being able to recall the question, but I know dead certain that I knew the answer.
~ Bonus round: My favorite instance of my failed memory ~
In an absolutely furious display of how ridiculous I truly am, so there's a Geography Bee in the same way the Spelling Bee works, and I qualified for it all three years in middle school, I won in 7th grade, and I did not remember the final question that won me the whole thing.
I just need to stress here. They're down to me and this eighth grader. I am TERRIFIED of public speaking at this point in time, and I have been on the cafetorium stage in this school event for about three hours now. We've gone through everything, it's quick-fire time where we both answer the same question in rounds until one of us gets an answer wrong.
First question was something to do with the Rockies or something along those lines, we both got that right.
Second question, mind that I'm paraphrasing because it's been a LONG time, was something to the effect of "name the Pacific volcanic island chain stretching west of Alaska" and This. This is where I have it. See, I know the answer to this question, and I also know what ISN'T the answer. The answer is not the Hawaiian islands. I don't know if the other guy knows this, but I do. And I, in my tiny little nerd geek world of only watching Discovery and PBS and History channel content while growing up, know very well that this is the Aleutian Islands in the Bering Sea, leading to the Bering Strait. Yes, this is my full admission that one of my cornerstone TV shows in childhood was Deadliest Catch.
But as mentioned, this is hour three if not four of stage and people heavy activity and I am small and tired and undiagnosed with a handful of things, and also I ran a workout that morning. I am out of gas. And the only thing I can remember is that the island chain is in the Bering Sea. So that is what I write, scribbling it down at the last second. [Extremely loud incorrect buzzer]
At least the other kid wrote Hawaii.
Here's where my full swing memory kicks in.
I won on the next question. I do not remember what it was, my answer, the other guy's answer, nothing. It is GONE from my memory, so gone that after I am congratulated and cheered and photo taken and freed, it's been maybe ten to fifteen minutes, my mom has been called to inform her (this kills me in retrospect), I wander lackadaisically into the band hall to stow my instrument with my heart still pounding and everything vibrating, and when the band directors ask me how I won, what I won on, I don't have an answer.
NO ONE who I'm friends with or a teacher I have was in the cafeteria in the final few minutes. No one knows. I don't know. I'm too shy to ask the school officials about it. And given the elapsed time since, I will probably never know.
I suppose the upside is I'll never forget the Aleutians.
movies where someone hears an important message only once and retains all the details….
girl if that were me, we’d be fucked. I have to reread emails like 4 times.

Found out my show just updated
Dina I was rooting for you. Rhonda was right to keep that info from you about Rocky. Why don't they ever listen to their friends? Gonna throw away a friendship over a GUY? Gonna throw away a good thing she had going with Al because Rocky has such a magic penis I guess 🙄

Actually I was going to just leave this in the tags but. I'll write it up.
In three parts:
One: The original tweet is correct. I would still like to delete "the most American of songs" as a qualifier, but all told, it's absolutely set up to be a cautionary tale and it just isn't one, and the technical detail of the music is a pretty strong indicator. More on that in a second.
Two: The first reblog is not incorrect. It's not correct either, but it's not wholly wrong. Aside from the discussion about technical excellence- more on that in a second, again- it is a solid interpretation, but it leaves something to be desired, primarily in the discussion of the devil's motivations. The framework is solid, though.
And where I think that interpretation goes off most, is that the whole point of the devil, in general, is that he's sly, he's smart, he's always ready and looking to trick you for his gain. And sure, he's looking to corrupt the morally pure, that's a primary tale, but the man isn't going to turn down a free and easy meal at his own gain, and it's much easier to exploit the basis of... "moral wrongs" that are already existing. This, I think, is another missed point of the first interpretation- It paints Johnny as a good hearted folk hero.
Let me stress: I work with teenage males. I love them, there are so many of them who are good and will do great things. They're also fucking morons. Ego and rashness and ridiculous choices are their thing, even when they can back it up. I have years of data and experience to cover this assertion. They will brag before they win if they know they're good enough.
Johnny is more than capable of walking the walk, and his section proves it technically without a doubt, but he's also an idiot young man who the devil wouldn't have thought twice about if there wasn't a little bit of ego in him.
Also, and this is covered in the next bit, but the assertion that the devil plays a more technically challenging piece and that Johnny's contribution is powerful in its metaphor instead of its playing is wrong.
Three: I have no notes on @cumaeansibyl's assessment and the associated video discussion. A, I'm not an expert to dispute an expert, B, I am however musically trained and I've known for years that Johnny's section is more complex and a better show of skill than the devil's. Breakdown is short and sweet and excellent.
I also have no notes on the American narrative assessment at the end, because it's funny as fuck and 100% accurate.
